VS

Alistar

Medium

All about timing your E correctly due to his head butt, knock up combination.

Other than Alistar's high amount of engage, Cait needs to be played passively in order to make it out of laning phase.

VS

Bard

Easy

You can spend time trapping his shrines and can easily net away from his ulti.

VS

Blitzcrank

Medium

Avoiding his grab and knock up combo is key to success when lanning against him. However, vision is needed when playing against him due to many Crank players preferences of hiding in bushes.

VS

Braum

Easy

Other than Braum's Ulti, he is very easy to play against as Cait. Unless you keep getting hit by his Q, you shouldn't have a problem with him (of course unless the Braum is this god like player then, it is probably closer to medium hard).

VS

Caitlyn

Easy

Personally, I find that Cait v. Cait is more of a cancelation. Then, it primarily comes down to who has the better Cait lane mechanics and Support player.

VS

Corki

Medium

Corki has a ton of poke in comparison to Cait. Until, he gets his "Package", you should have an alright time against him as long as you play with caution.

Cait can scale her damage faster, where as Cokri relies on his abilities to do damage mainly.

VS

Draven

Medium

Here, is when I wished that there was a Med.-Hard button. When playing against Draven, it comes down to how aggressive the player is.

Even though Cait out ranges him, Draven can easily tear her down due to his passive and his spinning axes (Q) stacking. Plus, he gets bonus gold from his passive every time he gets a kill, which easily scales into late game, allowing him to get ahead of you quickly.

VS

Ezreal

Easy

Ez is primarily magic damage with his abilities, but they also scale with AD. He as a high mobility in comparision to Cait.

Ez's E has a shorter cooldown than Cait's E. Other than that, Ez has a higher amount of poke than Cait.
However, you should be able to place enough traps in order to tunnel him in to where you want him.

VS

Graves

Hard

Ever since the Graves changes, he has been a monster in game. However, Cait does have a small advantage over him with the fact that she doesn't need to reload. Graves does.

VS

Janna

Easy

Janna is a passive support. Her best way to harass you in lane is with her tornadoes. Just avoid those guys and you should be set.

VS

Jhin

Hard

Jhin just flat out does more damage than Cait.

His ulti is a 4-bullet free form version of Cait. Also, his traps turn invisible, which can both slow and snare you if Jhin combos correctly.
Play it safe against him. I use my traps to mark where he has placed his traps if I see him place them. It helps a lot during the laning phase.

VS

Kalista

Hard

Kallista has high mobility with her passive. Unless she gets her spears into you, she can't slow you, so you do have a small window of escape advantage.

However, with the help of her support, her ulti can prove lethal to you in a team fight with the ulti knock up.
Kalista's attack speed scales better than Cait, which give Kalista more jumps in a team fight. This higher mobility allows her to be in better spots for team fighting, laning, and locations across the map in comparision to Cait, who just has a net, flash, heal, and any CC that her team may have.

VS

Leona

Medium

When playing against Leo, Cait needs to be played passively. Leo has a high amount of engaged that can make Cait quickly disappear in a bot lane skirmish or in a team fight.

As Cait, use your W to limit where Leo can move. Limiting where Leo can move allows Cait to control what happens in lane.

VS

Morgana

Hard

Morgana is ranked hard because of her snare time length. If comboed correctly, Morgana can be the reason why Cait is shut down in the game.

As Cait save mana for your E because the net can make your escape from Morgana's Q, without using your flash.

About Back to Top

Hi Summoners,

I hope that this guide has been helpful for learning Caitlyn. I have been playing Caitlyn for about 4 years now. I always have found enjoyment in teaching others how to play Caitlyn.
Please let me know if you want to see my opinion on other champions that Caitlyn might possibly see in a game. I have done the most popular ones.
GG HF,
