Summoner Spells Back to Top

506.png

4.png

4.png Flash is a must for every ADC, it's without any doubt the best summoner spell in League of Legends, It allows you to escape countless situations and also make incredible plays. Please take it.

179.png

7.png vs 21.png vs 1.png

7.png Heal is just one of the best dueling summoner spells for botlane, as it heals both you and your support, giving you more chance of survival. The extra movement speed is also quite handy, either to escape or chase.

21.png Barrier is something that we've seen being used very frequently by the pro players at Worlds. They put this strategy to use in order to give the ADC more tools to keep himself alive (It is more used for hyper carries e.g. (Kog'Maw, Jinx, Xayah, Tristana). Your support must take 7.png for you to take 21.png.

1.png Cleanse is used when you play against supports with a  lot of cc (e.g. 89.png). In most cases, your partner will also take 7.png. Personally, I'm not a fan of this summoner, but the truth is that, it is very useful and can decide teamfights but your timing on using it must be on point.

New Runes Back to Top

506.png
Those are the runes/masteries I'm using, I found them to be pretty good so far. Since they were recently implemented, it still needs more testing, and there might be better ways to build it.

179.png

Why Precision as main path?

179.png

  • Fleet%20Footwork.png?width=64 might seem like an interesting choice, the truth is you could pick any rune here, I believe in this case your playstyle will decide which one you should take, if Press%20the%20Attack.png?width=32Lethal%20Tempo.png?width=32 or Fleet%20Footwork.png?width=32. I've been testing and having better results with this one. It gives you some sustain in lane and also the extra 20% bonus movement speed after a hit allows you to poke your enemy and win trades more effectively.

  • Overheal.png?width=64 has been the choice of the pros since the nerf on Triumph.png?width=32 earlier on patch 7.24. The combination between Overheal.png?width=32 and Fleet%20Footwork.png?width=32 makes laning phase much easier, allowing you to farm safely.

  • Legend%20Alacrity.png?width=64 will just benefit you much more than the other 2, as it'll give you just the extra attack speed you need. Legend%20Tenacity.png?width=32 gives you extra tenacity, won't be really useful for you, and Legend%20Bloodline.png?width=32 will give you extra lifesteal, this one could be used, but I just see so much more advantage coming from Legend%20Alacrity.png?width=32.

  • Coup%20De%20Grace.png?width=64 works so well to finish off your wounded enemies. The other options are not bad either, Cut%20Down.png?width=32 can be extremely good when you're up against a really tanky team, dealing 4-12% at 150-2000 max health difference and Last%20Stand.png?width=32 can work as a surprise factor against your enemy. But overall, I believe Coup%20De%20Grace.png?width=32 and Cut%20Down.png?width=32 are the best choices.

    179.png

    Why Sorcery as secondary path?

    179.png

  • Celerity.png?width=64 is a pretty good choice, it gives you extra attack damage based on your movement speed, which scales pretty well with Fleet%20Footwork.png?width=32. It also gives you an extra 1.5% bonus movement speed.

  • Gathering%20Storm.png?width=64 is just the best rune option for late game. Since games have been quite long, this rune has been shinning even more, especially since the patch 8.3 when ADC's started to go Sorcery.

Passive - 8.10.jpg

  • Try to hit your targets while in the brush, as you'll headshot after 6 auto attacks, while in the brush it counts as 2.

  • Use caitlynyordletrap.png and caitlynentrapment.png effectively as they'll trigger headshot if you hit.

  • Very good synergy with critical chance.

Q - 8.10.jpg

  • This'll be your main damage, use it to poke your enemy in lane.

  • Use it as a combo with caitlynentrapment.png. Combo caitlynentrapment.png + caitlynpiltoverpeacemaker.png + AA.

  • Using it while in the brush can surprise your enemies, making it harder to dodge.

    W - 8.10.jpg

  • Use traps to zone your opponents in lane and when taking a Dragon/Baron.

  • Practice putting traps right under your opponent when your support stuns.

  • Using traps in brushes can be an effective way to deny plays from your enemy.

  • Use it as a combo with caitlynentrapment.png. Combo AA+caitlynentrapment.png+caitlynyordletrap.png+AA+caitlynpiltoverpeacemaker.png.

    E - 8.10.jpg

  • Your escape ability, you can use it to pass through walls.

  • Use it when your opponents are chasing you.

  • This ability is the core of your combos

    R - 8.10.jpg

  • Best ability to finish off wounded targets.

  • Can be used to take your enemy out of lane.

  • Can be used to initiate a fight, not always at the end.

  • Don't look at it as only a finish off enemies ability! (Even though it's the best case scenario)

    127.jpg

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

As you have a long attack range, you should be poking your enemies, I believe this is the best start.

Core Items

Your first back should be very similar to this.
You should aim for an IE quickly and zeal after.
This is your core. Leaving the rest of your items to be quite situational.
Your final build will look something like this.

Situational Items

Buy it when they have a lot of crowd control.
Very effective against burst champions like Syndra.
I believe picking this one against assassins is a smart choice to make.
If they have a heavy tank stacking armor, I would recommend picking one of those.
If more damage is necessary and you've been surviving fights, this can be a great choice.
If you feel like you're lacking sustain in your fights, take this item.
506.png

179.png

Build Path

179.png
  • Start with 1055.png+2003.png+3340.png. I believe this will be the best start, considering your long range, you should be able to poke your enemy in lane. In case you play against a really extreme poke, I would go for 1054.png+2003.png+3340.png, but keep in mind it'll be more difficult to kill your enemies early with this start.

  • On your first back, you should aim to at least get a 1038.png, a 2031.png and a 2055.png if possible. In case you have enough money for 1038.png+1001.png, go for it.

  • Upgrade your boots to 3006.png and focus on getting 3031.png quickly. In case you go to base and you have around 1200g, just keep your 1038.png and buy a 3086.png. Making your core look like 3006.png1038.png3086.png.

  • Your goal is to make your build look like 3006.png3031.png3087.png as soon as possible, and you can start being extremely effective on teamfights.

  • Build your way into 3094.png, and with it try poking their turrets whenever possible. Also, poke them with the extra range whenever possible.

  • Your next 2 items will be quite situational as I explained above, pick the best options according to your situation. If you're desperate for 3140.png or 3026.png, you can even get them before 3094.png.

VS

Ashe

Easy
  • She has a lot of poke, play behind your minions to avoid her volley.png.
  • Poke her whenever possible and place traps to limit her movements.
  • Don't go for long trades with her.
  • Going to the brush to trade can be an effective way to win trades, due to your passive, headshot caitlynpassive.png.
  • At 6, be careful with her enchantedcrystalarrow.png

VS

Corki

Easy
  • No kill threat before level 4.
  • You outrange him, poke him everytime he tries to last hit.
  • Predict his phosphorusbomb.png and dodge it, he'll most likely use it on where he thinks you'll go to take a creep.
  • If he's paired with a CC support, be careful, he does a lot of damage.
  • If he tries to chase you with carpetbomb.png, use your caitlynentrapment.png on him.

VS

Draven

Hard
  • Do not trade autos with him, he'll outdamage you with his dravenspinning.png.
  • It's crucial to hit your caitlynentrapment.png to escape from him when he chases.
  • Don't get fooled, even if you have a lead, he'll still be able to win 1v1 against you.
  • Place traps strategically to get him when he tries to catch his dravenspinning.png.
  • If he has a support with good poke, keep in mind that 1054.png is a good choice.
  • Long trades are out of question, don't try it.
  • Poke him slowly with your extra range.

VS

Ezreal

Easy
  • Use your long attack range to poke him constantly.
  • Make sure you play behind your minions to avoid his ezrealmysticshot.png.
  • Place your caitlynyordletrap.png strategically to deny him some farm.
  • Try to headshot him whenever you can.
  • If he uses ezrealarcaneshift.png to chase you, just use caitlynentrapment.png on him.

VS

Jhin

Medium
  • Use your long range to poke him down whenever possible.
  • Keep track of his shots, he only has 4, being the 4th the strongest.
  • Try to hit him when he reloads.
  • Be careful with his passive, his support can start a play and 202.png can snare you. That would be deadly.
  • Place your traps strategically to limit his support movements, with that you'll be fine against him.

VS

Jinx

Easy
  • Poke her when she is with minigun.
  • Push into her turret, she can't really use cannon if you do that, otherwise she would lose heavy cs,
  • Place your traps around her turret and poke her down.
  • Be careful with her jinxe.png if she has a CC support or if you're too close to her turret.

VS

Kalista

Medium
  • Use your long range to poke her whenever possible.
  • If she tries to come at you for a long trade, try to predict her movement and hit your caitlynentrapment.png+caitlynpiltoverpeacemaker.png combo.
  • Hitting your caitlynpiltoverpeacemaker.png might be quite hard, use it to push the lane or when inside a brush, it'll be harder to dodge.
  • Place traps around her turret, limiting her movement around turret will be quite annoying for her and you'll most likely get her caught on a trap.
  • Definitely avoid long trades, her kalistaexpungewrapper.png would destroy you.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy
  • Use your long range to poke him whenever possible.
  • Avoid trading when he has kogmawbioarcanebarrage.png on.
  • Since he has no escape, zoning him and freezing the waves is a great way to destroy him.
  • Remember that he outscales you, get the most advantage you can early on.

VS

Lucian

Easy
  • Use your long range to poke him whenever possible.
  • He has low range, which makes things easier.
  • Beware of his support, if you get CC locked, you'll be in trouble.
  • Use your traps to zone him.
  • If he tries to run at you use your caitlynentrapment.png+caitlynpiltoverpeacemaker.png combo.

VS

Miss Fortune

Medium
  • Use your long range to poke her whenever possible.
  • Be careful with her missfortunescattershot.png.
  • Play side by side with minions to avoid her missfortunericochetshot.png.
  • Use your traps to zone her.
  • As she has no escape, you can try to freeze your lane and expect your jungler to make a move.

VS

Sivir

Easy
  • Use your long range to poke her whenever possible.
  • Try to dodge her sivirq.png, she might throw it whenever you try to poke.
  • As she has a very low range, you should be able to poke her easily.
  • Don't use your traps randomly, as she'll just take them with sivire.png and get some mana back. Although, you can use it as a bait for her to waste sivire.png.

VS

Tristana

Easy
  • Use your long range to poke her whenever possible.
  • Early on, she's a low range carry, it should make things easier for you.
  • Place traps to zone her.
  • If she gets tristanae.png on you, avoid any trades.
  • Make sure to keep the lane pushed, you don't want her to use tristanae.png on your turret.
  • Her passive makes it very hard to farm under turret.

VS

Twitch

Medium
  • Use your long range to poke him whenever possible.
  • Use your traps strategically to zone him, they also reveal him.
  • Do not take long trades, as his twitchexpunge.png would destroy you.
  • If he's support gets too close, you can assume he's coming with twitchhideinshadows.png.
  • Get in the brush and try to hit some caitlynpiltoverpeacemaker.png.
  • Get him under the turret and put some traps around to make it harder for him to farm.

VS

Varus

Medium
  • His range is really similar to yours.
  • Be careful when trading, he does more damage than you.
  • Place traps to zone him and deal some extra damage.
  • When he hits 6, he might try to go for all in on you, beware of that.
  • Freezing the lane can be a good way to get your jungler into action and get you ahead.

VS

Vayne

Easy
  • Use your long range to poke her whenever possible.
  • Place your traps to zone her.
  • If she tries to chase you, use caitlynentrapment.png+caitlynpiltoverpeacemaker.png combo.
  • Get her under turret and zone her with traps to deny as much farm as possible.
  • Use your caitlynpiltoverpeacemaker.png to poke her down.

VS

Xayah

Easy
  • Use your long range to poke her whenever possible.
  • Place yourself properly, paying attention to her feathers.
  • Place some traps to zone her.
  • Freezing the lane can be a good way to bring your jungler down and get you some advantage.
  • After 6, don't get baited by her, as she can dodge anything with her xayahr.png.

Support Synergies Back to Top

506.png

God Tier

43.png143.png117.png

Those 3 champions will all have similar roles, they work so well with you because:
  • You'll be able to push your lane, putting your enemy under his turret.

  • You'll have endless poke, even when they are under turret, you'll be able to hit them and most likely force their jungler to come.

  • Your goal with this lane should be taking down the turret as soon as possible and rotate. Possibly swap with toplane. That way you'll have massive advantage.
179.png

High Tier

412.png12.png89.png

Those 3 champions will also have very similar roles, and your playstyle should also be identical when playing with them.
  • Your goal will be to get level 2 before your opponents and instantly go for them.

  • If 412.png hits threshq.png, make sure to place your caitlynyordletrap.png properly, that should secure a kill or send them back to base. The same applies if 12.png hits his headbutt.png+pulverize.png combo or 89.png with leonazenithblade.png+leonashieldofdaybreak.png.

  • Those are kill lanes, do your best on being aggressive and grab some kills for yourself early on.

    179.png
Don't forget that, at the end of the day, your enemies combo will also matter a lot and what I called 'God Tier' can get completely outplayed by them. Those are just good synergies, but you have to pay attention to their combo also and pick wisely.
    179.png

Playstyle Back to Top

506.png
179.png

Early Game
179.png

  • Help your jungler with red/blue buff, but do not stay too long, you don't want to miss any minions.

  • Always try to hit level 2 before your enemy, it gives a very good advantage on botlane.

  • Use your caitlynyordletrap.png to zone them and poke.

  • Use your caitlynpiltoverpeacemaker.png occasionally to poke them. Going inside a brush to land it is a great way to surprise your enemy, it makes it harder to dodge.

  • Push your opponents under their turrets and poke them down.

  • Take their turret as soon as possible.

    179.png

    Mid Game
    179.png

  • When you destroy your enemies turret or get yours destroyed, laning phase will be over. You should ask yourself some questions. Is Dragon available? What about Herald?

  • Lets say you got your enemies turret and you're ahead, if Dragon is available, try to set up a play with your jungler in order to secure the objective. If you succeed, swap lanes with top and try to get turret and Herald. If Dragon is not available, go top immediately and focus on the objectives (Turret+Herald).

  • If the other team is ahead and your turret got destroyed, the same still applies. The one who coordinates/ rotates better will succeed the most.

  • At this point of the game, you should be with your team forcing turrets down.

    179.png

    Late Game
    179.png

  • This is where you'll shine the most, 51.png is a great ADC late game. You'll be able to poke them down with your insane range+3094.png.

  • Most important here is, keep up with the vision and don't overextend farming.

  • Grouping is very important and keeping an eye on objectives.

  • Keep in mind that you can use your caitlynaceinthehole.png to initiate a fight. If you're ahead for quite a bit, it'll do massive damage.

  • In conclusion, late game is your best stage of the game, 51.png is extremely item dependent and at this stage, you'll be at your best. As long as you don't overextend you should be fine. Stick with your team in order to take objectives and be prepared for teamfights.

LoLEUW_ petRoXD.jpg

Player's Mentality Back to Top

506.png

Pro Mindset

The most successful players all have one thing in common, either they win or lose, they always think "what could have I done better?". This is the key for you to become closer to the greatest players, it's not about how many games you play in a day, it's about what you learn from each of them.

179.png

Tiltproof

The easiest thing to do when you are losing a game is to blame your team, even if you're right, that won't give any help on winning the game. If you really want to get to the next level, try to keep cool and boost our teammate's morale.

179.png

Winning Attitude

Everyone is fed in the other team, your team is far behind and the easiest thing to do here is surrender. You might argue that it'll save you a lot of time and playing would be a waste. Yes, you're right, but some of those games you'll actually win, and you'll learn much more from hard games than from easy games that finish at 15min. Just keep focus and don't stop believing. Everyone throws, even the pros.

179.png

Think about this:

If you're one of those players stuck in Silver, you feel like you deserve much more, but you are just unlucky and can't climb, it feels like a curse that Riot put on you. I will tell you straight away there's no such thing, and yes, sometimes we can be very unlucky, but it doesn't last. If you're stuck there, you might've been doing something wrong, the proof is that people boost accounts and they know exactly what to do in order to carry a game and climb quickly. If you find yourself in that situation, I suggest watching some of your own replays, maybe your mechanics are good but it only takes a few mistakes for you to not be able to carry your team. Start thinking, what could have you done better? The other team is silver too, if you're much better you should be able to outplay them in every way possible.

127.jpg

Special: How to get in The Zone Back to Top

506.png

179.png
What is being "In The Zone"?

179.png
  • It's a state of mind where you become extremely focused and hyper-productive!

  • Being in the zone is being completely immersed in what you're doing. Losing the sense of time is very common while in this state of mind.

  • You'll be able to predict your opponents movements and see them almost like in slow motion!

    179.png

    How to enter "The Zone".
    179.png

  • Think about what you're doing and your role.

  • Get rid of distractions. (Close the door if open. Being in a conversation will most likely stop you from entering this state as you'll get distracted easily).

  • You need a deep understanding of what you're doing. (Once again, know your role and your opponent as well).
  • Create a balance between challenge and skill. Big challenges require huge skill. Taking a step bigger than your leg will only get you demotivated. (Yes, this one is for boosted accounts.)

  • Be patient, it might take some time to achieve and master this state of mind.

  • Now that you know about it, you just made it easier.

    Flow.jpg

    Flow_balance.jpg
Source: Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, "The Flow" (1990), p. 74.

  • As you may notice, balance is key. Even if your skill level is low, a small challenge for some people can be a true one for you!

(I do not own this video.)

  • Use headphones.

  • Those sounds will help you achieve a focused state of mind.
