Summoner Spells Back to Top

No question about this, pretty much your standard summoner spells for AD carry. The option of taking cleanse instead of heal is up in the air, but it really depends on the type of enemy team composition you are up against. For now, just stick with the basics and with what works.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Please DO NOT WASTE YOUR SUMMONERS. Using flash for a kill is sometimes worth, but only if you know you can survive after the flash. Please do not flash for someone that is already 0-5, your flash as an AD carry is extremely important. IT MUST AND SHOULD ONLY BE USED TO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACT THE GAME. It can help keep you alive in a crucial fight or help you turn the tides around in a team fight by getting to their back line and killing priority targets. Corki is a mid to late game ADC with several power spikes, if you can get to their back line safely and kill their carries, by all means go for it. Your damage output is quite high in the mid to late game (assuming that you are farming adequately well) allowing you to go for those plays every once in a while. Usually you would want to stay at the back, auto the closest target, Valkyrie away from threats, poke with your ult, try and land your big 3rd AOE ult on a group of people and flash from certain death. The key characteristic that separates good players from the best players is knowing the limits of your champion. Don't try to be a hero, the kills will come, but when the time comes when you need to take the game in your own hands you need to be ready for it. Having these summoners available during team fights can at times win you the game.

Small Tip: Use heal at the last second to save yourself or a teammate, it baits a lot of people into very risky situations that you can take advantage of and get yourself a nice free kill.

Masteries Back to Top

Standard ADC mastery page (for the most part). In this section I would like to highlight some key masteries that may differ from other players. I will be going through every mastery selection: starting with the Ferocity tree then the Cunning tree. The numbering of the points correspond to the row number in their respective trees.

FEROCITY TREE - 12 POINTS:

1) Fury: Attack speed as ADC, pretty much a no-brainer here. Corki has no attack speed buffs and doesn't really build any attack speed in his core build so this flat attack speed becomes exponentially more valuable. It makes playing Corki a lot smoother and the two percent extra ability damage isn't that worth it in my opinion compared to the attack speed.

2) Feast: This sustain in the early laning phase will help a lot. Compare it to relic shield, the principle behind taking this mastery is practically the same. You don't want to be taking double-edge sword because the benefits for ranged champions is less and can sometimes, as you can see from the name, put you at a disadvantage. Comparatively, feast is much much better.

3) Vampirism/Natural Talent: Corki benefits quite heavily with natural talent as his ult missilebarrage.png (Missile Barrage) and his Q phosphorusbomb.png(Phosphorus Bomb) both have ap scalings giving you that little bit of extra damage. The value you get from Natural Talent is actually not bad in the late game (10 attack damage and 15 ability power). Looking at this economically, you are basically getting an extra long sword and one amplifying tome late game which is not half bad. *AS OF RECENT PATCHES* Vampirism has seen much more play due to its high sustain advantage especially in the early game. You might want to consider taking it since it has the same idea behind as to why someone would take feast. The extra lifesteal in lane can win you the game.

4) Bounty Hunter: I see a lot of ADC's take oppressor due to the fact that the extra 2.5% damage is seen to occur quite commonly. Honestly, I believe that ADC's, when played well, should inevitably lead to kills. With this mentality, bounty hunter makes a lot more sense since by late game, assuming you have killed each enemy champion at least once, grabs you 5% extra total damage which early game might not seem like much, but late game definitely makes big difference in terms of the magnitude of damage. There's nothing wrong with taking oppressor, I just feel like bounty hunter gives you more bang for your buck, even if it's a little risk since the rewards are great.

CUNNING TREE - 18 POINTS:

1) Savagery: The reason you don't take wanderer is because this mastery doesn't benefit you while fighting, since you're in combat most of the time. Savagery in laning phase makes a huge difference since you can push your lane faster. This allows you and your support to reach level spikes faster such as level 2, or level 6, which can get you kills here and there and lane pressure/control. Lane pressure and control is extremely important and can sometimes dictate the pace and outcome of a game.

2) Secret Stash: Cookies, need I say anymore. Not only does this mastery buff your pots to a wholesome and plentiful biscuit, the other two masteries are completely useless on an ADC. You are pretty much never 1 on 1, making Assassin useless and you don't usually take any buffs except for red later into the game, making runic affinity useless.

3) Merciless: 5% extra damage on a weakened target!!!! SIGN ME UP and if you are having mana issues, there is an item for you, it's called essence reaver. You should pretty much always go Merciless as your mastery for this row.

4) Dangerous Game: This mastery is op, keeps you alive in risky situations, lets you survive minion aggro and possibly ignite. The other mastery is out of the question, YOU are the one who is supposed to be farming not the support, making this mastery completely useless. Dangerous game is a must have for adc's, it can be difference between life and death.

5) Precision: You don't need 5% extra CDR, that doesn't make any sense. Especially on this patch, you get CDR from items like trinity force and essence reaver. That flat armor/magic pen will help you get through tanky opponents and do significant extra damage to squishier priority targets such as the enemy carries.

6) Thunderlord's Decree: In lane, press E close to your target, auto them once and VOILA, it has been proc'd. He's definitely one of the easiest to proc it with and gets increased effectiveness since your core build incorporates extra flat magic peneration (Sorcerer's Shoes1310.png) which will amplifiy Thunderlord's magic damage.  In my opinion, fervor doesn't really benefit Corki since you don't have a lot of attack speed and it will be more difficult to achieve high stacks with fervor. Additionally, Corki is more of a "bursty" kind of ADC making Thunderlord's the perfect fit for him while fervor is more for sustained damage which in my opinion doesn't really suit his playstyle.  Thunderlord's is much much easier to proc than most ADCs and will definitely give you more damage in total by the end of the game.

Note: Thunderlord's isn't the best for all ADC's, but for Corki specifically, it is extremely good.

Your skill max order should be R (when possible) - Q - E - W (Note: I usually take E level two for more damage and increased all-in potential but W is definitely much safer to take second.)

R: It's your ultimate, max it. Does some nice damage throughout the game and helps you get some nice poke throughout the game. Trust me when I say this, your ult is very good at securing kills more often than you would think. Every three rockets you fire, Corki arms himself with "THE BIG ONE" which does 50% more damage and has a bigger splash radius. Use this before teamfights, during teamfights, basically use this all game. The ult is also extremely useful for getting you Trinity Force procs and this ability is easily spammable. Don't spam it too often as it is not unlimited, use it wisely, but don't be afraid to use it.

Q: Your BOMB, or phosphorus bomb to be precise. Use this wisely because if you do hit it, it is a lot of AOE damage added to your kit. Extremely good throughout the game and adds a lot of burst to your kit. Max this first as it a large bulk of your damage. It is a weird ability at first to use, as the range where you want to cast it will increase to time for it to land. With practice, I'm sure you'll get use to this monster of an ability.

E: A pretty simple ability, does damage in a cone in front of Corki which reduces armor and magic resist as a stacking debuff. Since this ability features waves of damage over a short period of time, this ability allows you to proc Thunderlord's extremely easily since it counts as multiple instances of damage. Helps you shred through tanks and overall a good ability to have in his arsenal.

W: YOUR ESCAPE AND YOUR ENGAGE/TEAMFIGHT MONSTER ABILITY WHAT?- As of recent patches, this ability has had huge changes with the package and the increased mana costs. Corki is so good and versatile, he turns Rumble's ult into his own W. Let's first start with the normal use of your W. It costs a LOT of mana so don't use this carelessly and especially don't use the normal version of this ability as damage unless completely necessary. It's your escape, without it, well, you don't have an escape except for flash. This ability can go over walls, which is useful, but the range is quite short. Use it to boost yourself towards a kill as you travel really quickly.

DA PACKAGE: Ok I believe this part of the W warrants its own section. Every now and then, two packages will appear right outside your base's fountain which Corki can then grab, changing the use of his w. His w now has significantly increased range and when used, leaves a trail of FIREEEEEE (aka damage), kind of like a Rumble ult that burns enemies to pieces. Believe me when I say this, this ability does a lot of damage. When used properly, it can essentially win a teamfight. Use this to engage, to run away, or even to gank mid lane since they always seem to roam down to the bottom lane, time to show them some revenge. When traversing across enemies, they will knocked to the side and if they touch the burning fire, they are slowed for 90%. This ability is absolutely ridiculous and you feel so awesome every time you pick it up. You also get increased movement speed for the first half of its duration. This doesn't last forever so just use it pointlessly if its about to run out because it's just that cool. *IMPORTANT* After you use the package, the cooldown on your w resets, allowing to use the original smaller and boring w again, which is so important. As an ADC, you really don't want to be in the middle of their team, so if you are stuck in a bad spot after using the package, w again to quickly get out.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Starting Items
    First Back
    Strong Corki
You buy a lot of B.F. Swords..

Core Items

If you get to this point, I fear for the enemy team.

Situational Items

If you really need them.... Sterak's on Corki what???
    For the daring...

Starting Items: Go Doran's blade and one pot, there is no better start. Don't even think about cull, it's not worth as the enemy ADC and support can punish you for having less combat stats. Go the safe and consistent start. You can build cull after your first back and start stacking it then but definitely do not buy it first item.

First Back: You want to be aiming for a sheen first, then into phage. Sheen first because it gives you CDR and the passive on sheen feels really nice with Corki. Try and get Trinity Force as soon as possible as that is one of your biggest power spikes. You will usually have Trinity Force and Tier 1 boots early game and if you get enough gold for a B.F. sword, build it and start finishing Infinity Edge before Sorcerer's shoes.

Mid Game: Once you have Infinity Edge and Trinity Force, you are an absolute monster. Take this high damage to teamfights and start carrying your team.

Late Game: Pretty situational at the moment but a pretty consistent build is the one up top. Get the essence reaver for some nice CDR for more Rockets and mana sustain. Infinity Edge for you know... DAMAGE. Get Shiv for attack speed, AOE and MORE DAMAGE. Get a Mercurial scimitar to remove those pesky debuffs/crowd control or even zed, fizz and any other annoying champ's ult.

Situational: Go Bloodthirster instead of Essence Reaver or Mercurial Scimitar if you're extremely ahead and they don't have any pressing abilities that can really impede you. Go Lord Dominik's Regard (Last Whisper), shred those high health tanks. If you really need to survive, you can go Sterak's for that quick increase in health in dangerous situations or if you are playing against high AP damage, Maw of Malmortius is extremely good for the magic shield and extra stats due to the "lifeline" passive. Since Corki does 60-90% magic damage, Void Staff isn't actually that bad of a buy if the enemy team has stacked a lot of magic resist and your team is full magic damage. Trust me, there have been games where I wish I built this item since they were so tanky and had so much Magic Resist.

VS

Ashe

Easy

Only thing really threatening is her ult, farm up during laning phase and carry harder during mid game since Corki's mid game is absolutely ridiculous.

VS

Caitlyn

Medium

Caitlyn is always annoying to play against, like the matchup against Ashe, play safe during the early game and destroy in the mid game since that is where Corki truly shines.

VS

Corki

Easy

You should be playing ranked, this will never happen lol. You don't need a guide for matchups in Normals.

VS

Draven

Medium

His laning phase is much better, don't feed him and wreck in the mid game. Draven without kills will not be able to carry harder than a well farmed Corki.

VS

Ezreal

Easy

He doesn't really put much pressure on you in lane, but his mid game is almost as strong as yours when he reaches Muramana status. Respect his damage and play smart. Very skill matchup in my opinion.

VS

Graves

Easy

If you meet him in the bot lane, don't go near him, respect his close up burst and carry in the mid game. Should be easy though, not the best ADC in my opinion.

VS

Jhin

Medium

Jhin is quite difficult to play against, especially since as of right now, a lot of people don't know how to anyways. He doesn't have a lot of AOE damage but is relatively lane dominant so do respect his laning phase. Again, teamfight better and you are sure to pick up the win.

VS

Jinx

Easy

You can bully her so hard throughout the whole game. Jinx needs at least 3-4 items to carry, you need 1...

VS

Kalista

Hard

LOL good luck hitting your Q against her, easier said than done. Kalista is never fun to play against, her ult will cancel your w a lot of the time and she is really really good against you. Play safe and try and carry in the mid game, never an easy matchup.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy

Has a weak laning phase, bully him, destroy in the mid game and don't let this vomit spewing machine get to late game.

VS

Lucian

Hard

Lucian is an absolute monster right now, if you do not respect his damage, he will punish you. You are bursty though and have a lot more AOE damage so don't be afraid of him, just respect him. Good lucian's are very hard to play against as your Q should never land on him.

VS

Miss Fortune

Medium

Pretty annoying in lane but other than that, you win any up close engagement and put out way more damage than her. She's immobile and sucks at dueling, use that to your advantage.

VS

Mordekaiser

Easy

He's not an ADC, he's not even a champion anymore. Why am I writing this, he doesn't even deserve a difficulty.

VS

Sivir

Medium

Sivir is an overall good ADC that can outplay you with her spell shield. It takes her a while to get going so use that to your advantage, should be a relatively easy matchup.

VS

Tristana

Medium

Pretty good in lane and can punish you, she has very low damage mid game and poor AOE, should be easy.

VS

Twitch

Easy

Win mid game.

VS

Varus

Medium

His poke is annoying, get close to him and it's pretty easy, you do so much more damage than him.

VS

Vayne

Easy

If Vayne isn't at late game status, she doesn't stand a chance. Bully her in lane and triple her presence in the mid game. She has no AOE and is only really good at dueling. Don't feed her and respect her condemn. BUY PINKS.

VS

Zed

Hard

Damn zed

Laning Phase Back to Top

JUNGLE CAMP OP: As of right now, the current meta is the jungler starts the side opposite of the bot lane, so that the bot lane can take the jungle camp, either Gromp or Golems. This EXP advantage will prove to be extremely useful, as you can reach level spikes faster gaining you control of the lane. Make sure you do the camp with your support, tanking the first two shots then switching aggro so you can lifesteal and regen health after hitting it. Kite it towards your lane since it is likely that you will miss a few creeps, which can be problematic at times depending on the matchup in the bot lane. When done properly, this will lead to an exp advantage for the whole laning phase, assuming both bot lanes have spent the same time in the lane. If your jungler doesn't start top, it doesn't really matter but you might have to play at a disadvantage if the opposing bot lane does do the camp. If so, play safe since they will turn level 2 significantly faster than you and can kill you if you do not respect the level 2 power spike. Better safe than sorry...

LEVEL 1: Since you started Q, look to catch your enemy and the backline caster minions in it to shove in the wave. Look for the level 2 cheese and synchronize with your support. If your support lands the crucial crowd control, w to their ADC and auto them to death. If you and your support play properly and the enemy ADC does not respect your damage, it is a free FIRST BLOOD. If you can, put a point in your E instead of W if you are feeling confident and safe.

TRADE OPPORTUNITIES: Sneak a few autos here and there when they go for a last hit. Better yet, throw your bomb on them and try and land as many auto onto them while still being safe, if they don't respect your damage, your support can help and it might even be another kill. IMPORTANT: Look for when your Thunderlord's is up and use your E and an auto on the enemy ADC/support to easily proc it.

FARMING: Farming with him is pretty easy, try not to use your abilities to farm unless necessary as you are mana hungry early game. Your E can be used to help you farm under tower at times and PRACTICE. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. PRACTICE.

MID GAME/LATE GAME/TEAMFIGHTING Back to Top

This section focuses on what you should be doing in the mid game to increase the chances of you winning.

GOLD: Look for safe opportunities to get gold, this means taking jungle camps clearing waves, SET YOURSELF UP FOR VICTORY.

TOWERS: YOU SIR ARE A SIEGING MONSTER, USE YOUR ULT TO GET A TRINITY FORCE PROC AND AUTO THOSE TOWERS, COORDINATE WITH YOUR TEAM AND GET THAT NICE GLOBAL GOLD. GET ENOUGH TOWERS AND WIN THE GAMEEEE WOOOOO

Teamfighting: THIS IS PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT SECTION

-hit the closest target
-stay safe
-play aggressive and kill their carries when necessary
-use your ult to poke before and during teamfights
-use your w wiselu
-stay with your team, preferably behind your tanks
-try and do as much damage as you possibly can
-count how many autos you get in a fight, ask yourself, could I have gotten more? Could I have positioned better?
-dodge important skill shots
-use your summoners defensively and offensively
-STAY ALIVE
-don't be a suicide bomber with the package (I know it's tempting, but if you want ELO don't do it...)

Your team is relying on you to do damage, try your best to do so. When you look at high elo players while they are playing ADC, what makes them good is not the 1v5 penta vayne plays. It's their decision making and consistency of damage when teamfighting. They understand the limits of the champions they play and apply those limits to their gameplay. Once you understand what you can and cannot do, you will become one hell of a player. Do the unexpected, but not too often otherwise you're predictable.

COMMUNICATION: Most players complain that their teammates are bad as an excuse for their current ELO. WELL MAYBE IF YOU HELPED THEM THEY WOULD BE BETTER. Use your pings to notify them of your intentions, which objectives to focus, which rotations to execute stuff like that. If you become the leader of the team and play the way you want the game to be played, you will find yourself in more comfortable situations and carry the game even harder. Play your role properly, you are the attack damage carry. If you die for absolutely no reason because of greed or simply mispositioning, that is your fault. BUT, this can be easily fixed through practice and repetition.

Notable Statistics:

The below statistics are stats out of the whole world based off of lolskill.net

#1 Corki in the World
#167 Lucian in the World
#187 Ezreal in the World

I really hope this helps anyone who wants to learn how to play Corki. Remember, ADC is not the most difficult role but it is arguably the most important. You must learn how to achieve a good balance between staying safe and dealing damage. The best players know when to play defensively and aggressively if the opportunity presents itself. Keep practicing and I'm sure any of you can become great at this game. Evryone has aspects to work on, just take it one champion and one game at a time. If you want to learn from me outside the game, come follow me on my twitch stream (twitch.tv/szetolol). I will streaming somewhat regularly during season 6 and hope to improve myself as well as entertain some other league players like myself. :D
