4.png Flash is the first Summoner Spell and I recommend always taking it when you're playing this champion. This is because Flash is the best Summoner Spell around. It is a really good and reliable Summoner Spell. It can be used offensively, defensively and is honestly, a really good Spell to take.

12.png Teleport is the second Summoner Spell that you should take on him. This Spell is really good because it can be used to get back to lane quicker and it can also be used to help your team. In the early game, you want to teleport back to lane after your first back. Then you should look for Teleport opportunities where you can help your team.

On this champion I recommend going for the Domination page.

Electrocute.png?width=32 Electrocute is good on Ekko because he can constantly dish out damage through his auto attacks and abilities.

cheap%2520shot1.png?width=32 Cheap shot is good on your champion because you have some sort of CC ability (your W).

Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=32 Eyeball collection is good because you can often get kills on this champion.

Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=32  Ravenous Hunter is a very good rune as you will get “free” spell vamp.

For the second tree I recommend Sorcery. We are going for Transcendence.png?width=32 Transcendence and The%20Ultimate%20Hat.png?width=32 The Ultimate Hat. These two are good on him because it will give him extra cooldown reduction and reduce duration on his ultimate. It's very good for him to keep using his ultimate.

Ekko’s Passive is Z-DRIE RESONANCE!

Ekko’s abilities and basic attacks apply Z-Drive Resonance to the affected enemy for 4 seconds. At 3 stacks, he will deal extra damage and grant himself bonus movement speed. The effect cannot affect the same target more than once every 5 seconds.

Ekko’s Q is TIMEWINDER!

Ekko throws a device into a target direction dealing magic damage to any enemies hit. At the end of the path slows any enemy champions hit and shortly returns back to him. This ability deals damage on its path and return.

Tip: This is your main damage ability and is rather slow when using it. Practice makes perfect when using his Q because you have to change your positioning .You want to maximize your passive when using this ability to deal extra damage and proc the speed boost.

Ekko’s W is PARALLEL CONVERENCE!

Passive: Ekko’s basic attacks deal extra damage.

Active:  Ekko bats a device to a location and after 3 seconds the device expands and slows any enemies hit by it. If Ekko walks into the location then he will be granted a shield and will stun any enemies still in the circle.

Tip: You want to always maximize this ability by getting the stun and shield. You can use this ability as a blockade that can help you hit your other abilities. For example, placing this in a location near the enemies will make them walk around it to dodge the slow- you can use this to your advantage to follow up with damage.

Ekko’s E is PHASE DIVE!

Ekko dashes towards a target location or enemy. If he chooses to go to an enemy he will blink to his target. This deals extra damage.

Tip: Your E can be used to engage or disengage. A combo for Ekko is W E Q. This will provide you with lots of damage and sustain. Ekko’s E is quiet fluid in which you can do a lot of things with it.

Ekko’s Ultimate is CHRONOBREAK!

Passive: When your ultimate is off cooldown you’re followed by a 4 second delayed hologram version of Ekko.

Active: After a short delay, Ekko blinks back to hit Hologram version dealing damage to any enemies and healing himself. He also become un-targetable briefly.

Tip: It is on a 4 second delay (the hologram). You can use this ability in conjunction with Hourglass to deal extra damage. Beware, your ultimate can ruin Teleport ganks. But you can also use it to get to lane quicker especially with the speed boost at 20minutes, however this isn’t always recommended.

Starting Items

    This is the best starting item if you're not familiar with Ekko. This is also good vs hard matchups
    This is the recommended starting item for ekko
    Also a good start, Overall efficient laning phase.

Core Items

    Spirit Visage / Triforce first for Tank Ekko. AP Ekko you want Protobelt
    Your 2nd AP item will be Lich Bane, 3rd is Boots for both items sets.
    For Tank you want to get Sunfire Cape next, for AP you want Zhonyas
    Your final items will be for tank: Abyssal and Banshee's Veil. For AP you want to get Void Staff and Rabadon's Deathcap

There are two different Item build paths that you can go on Ekko. Choose which build you need, Remember you can change your build path if need be.

AP EKKO

I would recommend going for an offensive start if you plan on going AP Ekko. You can go either Dark Seal or Dorans Ring. However, if you're not comfortable with either, you can use the more defensive corrupting potion start or even Dorans Blade. Your first item should be Hextech Protobelt, followed by Lich bane and Sorcerers Shoes however, you can also get Ninja Tabi, Mercury Treads. Ekko should be very strong now, as he really kicks off with 3 items. The next three items are Zhonyas, Void staff and finally Rabadons Deathcap.


Ekko is really good because your build path can be different everygame. I have listed a suggested build path above, however you can mix it up yourself if need be.

TANK EKKO

Tank Ekko is rather unique because he can go either Dark Seal or Dorans Ring or even corrupting potion start or Dorans Blade.

Spirit Visage should be your first item. It gives you Health, magic Resist and Cooldown reduction. I like getting this first so i can help my mid lane out by coming down at level 6 and using my ultimate to try and kill mid lane. Alternatively, you can go Tri-force first followed by Spirit Visage Second. Your third item will be Boots. Followed by Sunfire Cape. For boots, I recommend either Ninja Tabi, Mercury Treads or Sorcerers Shoes.It depends on what you need and what will fit you the most. Abyssal Mask will be your 5th item and finally Banshee's Veil.

Ekko is really good because your build path can be different everygame. I have listed a suggested build path above, however you can mix it up yourself if need be.

Beware of this matchup as their damage output is incredibly high if you trade with them for too long.  Beware of her Riposte which can stun you if she times it correctly. When she ults you, you need to back off because of the healing it provides to her. Do not let her proc her ultimate. Try your best to deny her CS with your abilities.

Gnar

Medium

Be careful of the range advantage and do not let him poke you down. You have to be careful in this lane because he does deal a lot of damage if you let him stack is autos on you. I recommend waiting for him to miss position I'll get too aggressive and then go in for a treat. Try to put him down early.

Irelia

Easy

Beware of this matchup as their damage output is incredibly high if you trade with them for too long. You need to not directly fight her, or fight her near minions because she can escape with her Q. In this matchup, you need to just farm and poke her/trade with her when she wastes an ability. Beware of her E and her insane regeneration. Take care in this matchup and do not get to cocky.

Jax

Medium

Beware of this matchup as their damage output is incredibly high if you trade with them for too long.  Avoid autoing attacking him when he uses his Counter strike. Do not go for long trades because he can easily out damage you. His autos deal a lot of damage and his Empower ability is an auto attack reset that can deal added damage. Beware of his damage output and do not let him harass you for free.

Jayce

Hard

He has the range advantage and can poke you down incredibly easily. Sadly this will be a hard lane no matter what. I suggest freezing the wave and not taking free damage from him, this will also allow your team to gank you. Instead, play passive and look for gank or teleport opportunities. Beware of his E and Q combo and his burst damage.  Do not take free damage and agro.

Malphite

Easy

This is an easy match up because he is a melee champion and also a tank. You can abuse this match up by poking him early and denying him farm with your abilities. Make sure not to get too aggressive, because he does have CC that can help with ganks. Try to poke him whenever his passive is down, this will reset it and make it be down for longer. Try to freeze and deny him CS.

Maokai

Easy

This is an easy match up because he is a melee champion and also a tank. You can abuse this match up by poking him early and denying him farm with your abilities. Make sure not to get too aggressive, because he does have CC that can help with ganks. Beware of Maokai's passive as he will heal back a lot of the damage. Also, do not hug the bushes because he's saplings will hurt you if they're stacked.

Pantheon

Hard

Beware of this matchup as their damage output is incredibly high if you trade with them for too long. This is a hard matchup because pantheon is one of the best poke champion’s early game. In this matchup you will have to play smartly and poke him whenever possible.  You need to play safe in lane and wait for him to miss position and go aggressive when he does. Do not trade autos for too long as he will come out ahead.

Poppy

Easy

This is an easy match up because he is a melee champion and also a tank. However, she does counter you with her W. In this matchup you want to poke her and follow up with your abilities. Do not use your E because she will cancel it. Poppy’s autos really hurt so do not let her stack them up against you.

Singed

Easy

This is an easy match up because he is a melee champion and also a tank. You can abuse this match up by poking him early and denying him farm with your abilities. Make sure not to get too aggressive, because he does have CC that can help with ganks. Singed is rather toxic to play against because of his Q. Depending on what build he goes, it can be easy or hard. Try to poke him whenever possible, and do not let him proxy Farm. If he does, do not chase him just Farm under Tower.

Teemo

Hard

He has the range advantage and can poke you down incredibly easily. Sadly this will be a hard lane no matter what. I suggest freezing the wave and not taking free damage from him, this will also allow your team to gank you. Instead, play passive and look for gank or teleport opportunities. Beware of his shrooms after 6. Teemo is quiet squishy so try and get help and put him as behind as possible. Build defensive stats early.

Trundle

Easy

This is an easy match up because he is a melee champion and also a tank. You can abuse this match up by poking him early and denying him farm with your abilities. Make sure not to get too aggressive, because he does have CC that can help with ganks. Beware of his damage output and sustained by his passive. His slow is frustrating to play against, as well as his ultimate keep that in mind when building Tanky. Also, try to deny him as much as possible.

Tryndamere

Medium

Beware of this matchup as their damage output is incredibly high if you trade with them for too long.  Before 6 this is an easy lane, just do not let him harass you for free and beware of his ultimate- do not dive him if he is 6.

Wukong

Medium

Beware of this matchup as their damage output is incredibly high if you trade with them for too long. Do not trade autos for too long as he will come out ahead and beware of his clone and his invisibility. I recommend not going for full trades but instead poking him when he is out of position. In this matchup you need to build health and armour to protect yourself from him.

Yasuo

Medium

Beware of this matchup as their damage output is incredibly high if you trade with them for too long. Yasuo’s wind wall will block your Q so you have to play around this. Try to deny him as much of his skirmish potential by not fighting near your minions (he will be able to dash around them.) Yasuo will poke you with his Q, try to dodge it the best you can.

Tips and Tricks Back to Top

  1. You can ult back to lane when recalling, however be quick as your ghost may run out.
  2. You can use your E on Towers, monsters, champions and creeps.
  3. Your W is hard to use, You should use it in a blind spot to surprise the enemy and this will not let them dodge it easily.
  4. Make sure to utilize your passive and get the extra damage.
  5. Early game you need to hard push the waves as fast as possible. This will make your laning much easier. The reasoning is that it will allow you to get your items quicker, but also make you much safe.

Combos Back to Top

E + Q = Standard Combo for Ekko, Try to auto as much as possible to increase damage. Also, abuse your passive.
Q + E  = Remember to keep autoing to deal extra damage in trades.
W + E + Q = This is a level 3 Combo. Use your W first and try to hit a blind spot so the enemy cannot react.
W + Q + E = Another level 3 Combo. Abuse your passive and keep auto attacking with the movement speed buff.
W + E + Q + R = Only use this combo if you stunned the enemy with your W ( Try to ult them to deal extra damage)
