Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.pngFlash is the first summoner spell you should always take on Ekko, It's so important in his kit because he gives him the mobility for big plays in combination with his W,E.

12.pngTeleport is the second summoner i recommend with him. This Spell is so good because it can be used to get back to lane istantly when needed, at the same time it can also be used to help your team. Use Teleport in lane only the first time or if the tower is in danger, then always keep it for helping other lanes.

New Runes Back to Top

Electrocute.png?width=32Abosultely the best key rune on Ekko, a lot of extra damage and activate it with him is so easy, you just need to hit the first Q and your E+AA will do the rest. Plus with your Passive which activates at 3 hits the insta damage is very huge and doesn't give time to react to the enemy in most of cases.

Sudden%20Impact.png?width=32With Ekko's E this is the best rune in the first line, gives you a lot of extra damage thanks to the magic penetration. At the end of the game this rune will have done nearly the same damage of the key one.

Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=32Ekko has a good kill potential pre 6, especially when he hit lv 3, this rune will help you a lot in snowball the game.

Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=32/Relentless%20Hunter.png?width=32 Here you have to make a choice, personally i use the first one because allows you to splitpush, which is what you want to do in a lot of cases if the enemy team comp is better in the teamfight or if you're fed and noone of the enemy team can 1v1 you, thanks to the heal from the ability damage. Take the second one if you think you won't splitpush a lot (your team have a better team fight comp) because it will give you a faster roam during the game.

Absolute%20Focus.png?width=32/The%20Ultimate%20Hat.png?width=32 First one if you think you can snowball the game / Second one is a safer choice, take it especially if you're vs team with a lot of damage because you'll need your R more often

Gathering%20Storm.png?width=32/Scorch.png?width=32 First one if you're vs high range champions, you won't trade a lot vs them so Scorch will be useless / Second One in matchups you often trade your enemy (low range mages/melee champs)

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    1# Hard matchups.
    #2 Normal Start
First Back / First Items In order: Black Seal, Doran, Boots

Core Items

These are the CORE Items on Ekko. In order: Protobelt>Boots>Lich bane
Mid Game Items. In order: Void>Rabadon (If needed you can go Zhonya before Rabadon)
Last Item: normally Zhonya but sometimes you'll need something different, check below for more Info.

Situational Items

If you're vs heal champs go this instead of Zhonya after Void
Very situational item, i take this as 4th or last item if i'm vs 2 high damage AP (for example Brand and Malzahar) or vs 3 AP.
1# full ad team / draktahar users /autoattackers 2# CCs

ITEMS EXPLANATION

3152.pngThis is the first item you always go on Ekko because his active helps you in hit your W. Your  chase potentional is also better adding Proto active at your E.

3100.pngThis is the second item you always go on Ekko, his passive works perfectly with your E, which applies its effect. It's also gives you splitpush potential that it's what you're looking for in some cases during Mid-Game.

3135.png Usually this will be your 3rd item, at the point of the game you'll build Void Tanks will have a lot of MR already , that's why you need this item. Of course if they're not building MR you might think to go Rabadon instead, but if they start building MR right after you would loose a lot of damage. For example if an ADC builds an hexdrinker, QSS or change his Berseker Boots to Mercury ones in few seconds you're no longer able to oneshot him with a full combo.

3165.pngAs i said this is a situational item. Take it vs heavy heal champs (Maokai,Mundo,Soraka,Swain,Vladimir ecc.) especially if your  opponent Mid is one of them because this will allow you to 1v1 them in Mid-Game if you're splitting or simply holding a sidelane.

3089.pngNormally your 4th item, you'll need this if you want to keep snowballing or simply oneshotting people. The damage you have after you close Void+Rabadon is simply insane, even vs Tanks.

3157.png Normally last item. Zhonya gives you safety if you make a mistake, miss your combo or you're vs heavy cc teamcomps. It's also works really good with your W and R (check Tips and Tricks for more info).

VS

Aatrox

Hard

Kassadin is an anti-AP like Galio, as the games proceed he'll totally outscale you and be able to 1v1 you without problems because he'll have even an higer burst damage than yours (Late Game). Try to win pre-6, wait him to use his Q for farming of for poke you and then trade him. After 6 you won't be able to do much because he can dodge easily your W or use his R after your E so you can't proc the passive.

VS

Ahri

Medium

It's a some type of skilled matchup, you can kill Ahri pre-6 but it will be difficult because if he's a good player he will keep his E waiting for your engage and then you won't be able to peoc your passive and she'll win the trade.

1# Try to fake engage on her, try to being aggressive and bait his E or dodge it using your first E cast and then use the AA teleportation (E second part) on her.

2# Try to hit you W, pre-6 you'll do a lot of damage and force her to back, after-6 you'll force her ulti, after that she'll be gankable by your jungler.

VS

Akali

Medium

Pre-6 akali is pretty useless, you should try to take advantage before she hit that level. Always keep your W if she doesn't use her, your W dimension is equal to her Twilight Shroud and you'l 100% or force her to go out of it. During the game she'll outscale you in the 1v1 because of her heal and her damage but you'll definitely outscale her in teamfight.

VS

Anivia

Medium

Similar matchup to the Ahri one. A good Anivia will keep his Q for counter your engage and win the trade, also if you use your E his wall (W) will keep you off range. You should try to being aggressive early game because his before she hit lv 6 her only waveclear is her Q. So if you push if she uses her Q for minions you can trae her, if she doesn't she'll probably loose minions under tower.

With ulti his waveclear is huge and the only thing you can do is try to push faster than her and roam.

VS

Annie

Hard

Nothing much to do. She can deny a lot of damage with her E damage reduction, stun you after you engage and kill you with Tibbers. The only thing to do is abuse her waveclear which is weaker than yours, always push and roam looking for plays on other lanes.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Easy

Pretty simple, with your E you can get on close range of A'sol, his W won't work and his Q neither because you're too close to him. Just be carefull at lv 1 because you don't have your E to trade, don't let him piush you too much, after that you can always kill him in solo. Considering his good roam capacity with E you must always push the minion wave and keep him busy at farming.

VS

Azir

Medium

Because of his high range it'll be hard trade him, he'll also probably poke you to death or make you loose much cs. After laning phase you can kill him easily in 1v1

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium

His W counter your E and R, you can't use them while you're on it. Be careful early levels about your positioning, if you make a mistake during laning phase going too deep and not dodgin his Q you'll probably die. Skilled matchups in the 1v1, if you dodge his R you'll probably win the trade

VS

Corki

Hard

High range as always is a problem for Ekko, especially after Corki 6, he has also a decent waveclear so push the lane and roam won't be so easy because he'll be able to follow you without loosing cs. Hit your W will be impossible due to his W, also if you try to trade going in with E he'll use his W and you won't be able to proc your passive.

VS

Diana

Hard

Never pick Ekko into Diana, his burst damage is higher than yours, you won't even be able to use your W shield because you'll be dead in few seconds. You never win a 1v1 against Diana if the players are equal skilled.

The only thing you can do is try to kill her pre-6 but it'll be difficult due to his W shield.

VS

Fizz

Medium

You can dodge his R with your E or R pretty easy, if you use your E too early during a normal trade he'll use his E and your E will go on cd. Play around his waveclear, pushing always the wave will avoid him roaming and snowballing the game while you can do it without problems since his waveclear is very weak.

In the 1v1 laning phase it's a skilled matchup.

VS

Galio

Hard

You can't win a trade vs him: his W has damage reduction and an AP shield, if you engage he'll simply cc with W and E and win the trade without problems. At the same time you can't roam or looking for plays in enemy jungle/other lanes because with his R he'll immediatly join the fight

VS

Kassadin

VS

Swain

Hard

Hard matchup, Swain is a very tanky AP champion thanks to his stats/skills and thanks to his build path. He also has a lot of sustain thanks to passive and R. You can't kill him in a 1v1 without jungle help, if he's skilled. In teamfight he'll have your same impact, with the only difference he can't be killed so easily like you.

DON'T GO EKKO vs SWAIN.

VS

Zoe

Easy

She has not the mobility to escape from a good Ekko's W, also you can easy dodge his E with yours and then abuse her. Never let her push your under tower and roam because she'll oneshot you if she get an advantage. After you get Doran + Black Seal your waveclear is even, after you close Protobelt your waveclear will be better than hers.

Tips and Tricks Back to Top

1# Ekko's combo is ekkoe.png(first part) + ekkoq.png+ekkoe.png(second part). Don't ekkoe.png+ekkoq.png because your combo will be a lot slower.

2# Ekko's potential can be relesead only after being confident with his kit, especially ekkow.png and ekkor.png. The only way to improve your landing skill with W and R is PLAYING.

3# You can use your ekkow.png and then 3157.png in order to have a big shield after Zhonya effect ends.

4# During a teamfight after you use your combo on a target use your 3157.png, after it's active has endend your R ghost you'll be near you and activating it you can easily damage a lot of enemies if they're still fighting near you or simply waiting the Zhonya to kill you (and they probably will).

Laning Phase Back to Top

Ekko should always try to push his lane with his Q + PASSIVE, if you get pushed under tower you'll loose a lot of minions. At the same time, while pushing, you've to be safe from ganks.

Your first recall should be (considering the start with Doran+2xpots) at 800 golds if possible, with that you should buy Black Seal, Refillable Pots and Boots.

TIPS:

1# Look for which side the enemy jungle started by looking at arrival time of Botlane/Toplane, hug the opposite side where he started until 2:30 so you won't be "cheese gankable". At 2:30 he'll be on the opposite side where he started so try to push that wave as fast as you can and then go to ward enemy jungle in order to know if he'll gank you or go for the toplane.

2# Always buy a control ward when you go to base (if you have a slot).

3# Buy a control ward and hug the side in which you put it.

4# It's very important WHERE to roam. You should always check your ADC and TOP stats, if they have a good winrate with the champ they're using probably if you gank them and give them an advantage they'll  be able to carry the game, in the other hand if they're not good with that champ you'll probably just waste your time.

5# Also, roam on your winning lanes. There's no point in roaming, for example, to your Botlane IF your Toplane is winning because it's not as safe as ganking TOP where your ally is in advantage.

6#After you TP in lane perma push the lane in order to make your opponent loose cs.

Teamfights Back to Top

Ekko can win a teamfight alone if his W and R are used properly, his W thanks to the stun and his R thanks to his damage (the AP ratio on bhis ulti is very high).

Normally in a teamfight you should try to land your W by flanking the enemy team or letting them chase and then turn back, always look for the carries, with a full combo (E+Q+Passive) you oneshot them without problems.
