Summoner Spells Back to Top

Flash & Ignite is a core element to the gameplay of this guide. 90% of the time you'll be using flash aggressively.
With Flash you can catch people off position with "flash -> E (human)" and provide a great initiation for your team.
You're also able to easily towerdive at the success ratio of a fizz if you're flash is up, you need to master your rappel skills with elise before towerdiving though.

With Ignite on elise you can 1v1 most people easily considering you've done your homework in juking and understanding her kit. She has good 100-0 potential. Lifesteal, Spellvamp or Self Regen on enemy is interfering with this potential, so ignite is a safe way to prevent an ADC lategame from simply AA'ing you down.

-SoloQ I start 99% of the time with Q instead of E because simply because you have flash if worse comes the worst, elise is a strong midgame champ so why ruin your domination.  Skill W at lvl2 if they have a bad early gank jungler like amumu, noc, ww etc... skill E if they have xin, lee, mao etc... Max Q obviously for damage, then W for atkspeed then E last, and always ult when on 6/11/16.   I think all guides expect jungle might share this maxing order.

-5v5 team ranked I always start E to stun and rappel ignite to kill secure invades. lvl 2 Q, then W, then as normal as I would in soloQ.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    NORMAL STARTUP
    VS LEBLANC
    VS AD NONSKILLSHOT
    vs. Toplaners

Core Items

    First back @ 1555
    Transition to early midgame
    Mid-End Midgame

Situational Items

Full Build if your team is leading
If you are faced against autoattack heavy teams
if it is very close and you know next teamfight decides the game pick GA
Start Items:

  • Start with boots and 4 Biscuits 1 mana pot for very long lane sustain.
  • Go mres and biscuits if you play against leblanc
  • Armor and biscuits if you play against some stuff like jax mid.
  • Don't go armor if you play vs ad skillshots like zed, boots provide more effective health.

Early game:

  • If it's going ok for you, stay in lane until you have around 1550G never go to your lane without biscuits.
  • If it's going bad for you and u have to back with like 800 gold get a health crystal pots and a ward.

Midgame:

The goal is to have Haunting Guise, Sorc Boots and Health Belt before midgame starts.
This way you will be able to deal enough damage, while still having enough HP to survive teamfights.

End-Midgame:

You should build defensive items before the endgame starts,
  • if faced against heavy cc build banshee's, and a giant belt.
  • if faced against heavy ad build randuin's, and a giant belt.
  • if faced against mix damage go for warmogs, armor and a negatron.

Endgame:

  • Guardian angel no matter what setup they have, it allows you to be way more threatening.
  • build out giant belt to warmog's and / or Randuins vs AD heavy matchups.
  • build out banshee's against either heavy AP or CC matchups.

VS

Ahri

Easy
pre6: we do not even have to discuss this, 5 potions with mana outsustain everything she can fire at you.
post6: all you have to do is land E full dps and rappel her R-E combo. But 9 out of 10 Games Ahri will push
lane and go gank since it makes no sense for her to stay at a lane she can't outdamage.

VS

Akali

Hard

Akali is a very hard lane up since Vision Ward nerf. she can outburst you post6 but she sucks pre6 so make sure to pressure the hell out of her whenever you can.

VS

Anivia

Easy
Another very easy lane setup,
pre6: she won't try to poke you after you gave her 2-3 trades and simply farm
post6: you should do the same thing to keep her on lane.

since remake he is harder to beat early on you have to dodge Q with jump on him and trade heavily.

VS

Katarina

Easy

joke setup, kata has absolutely no chance dealing against you. just go full retard mode and charge her whenever possible you will out-trade her everytime because you have 6 skills she has 4 regardless if u land stun or not. post6 quite simple, dont stun her except if you are sure she dies before stun ends, every other instance: save your stun when she ults you and walk away laughing or kill her depending the situation.

VS

Kennen

VS

Kha'Zix

VS

LeBlanc

Needless to say, leblanc is a oneshot pony shes better then elise in terms of burst but  falls off very fast the longer the game goes on. UPDATE 04.08: Leblanc has been demoted to easy because of  the silence nerf.

Swain

Swain can be problematic if you dont fire everything at level 1-2 at him, you need to keep him low as much as possible so that he can't build up his harass. if he can get off free harass Swain will kill you and snowball like hell.

VS

Wukong

Pretty funny Matchup pre6, basically both champs can firstblood at level 2. both know that and so both should play with some respect and wait for mistakes. post6 obviously wukong becomes a joke against elise since you can double E anything dangerous like his R and walk away laughing

VS

Yasuo

Easy

Elise is most probably the hardest faceroll counter to Yasuo no matter what lane. You can pop his shield with AA you can stun interupt his EQ combo, your QW human harass works on his HP bar and if he decides to engage you, well lets say your spider QW doesnt give 2 cents about that. Knockup can be countered by spider E, so yea... his ultimate is useless on elise. this is not a 1x experience literally every yasuo i faced mid was dead within the first 6 minutes.

VS

Zed

Easy

Elise has the upper hand with this mspeed and cookies. he cant burst you down since you can e-negate his R. pre6 and post 6 quite easy matchup.

VS

Ziggs

Easy

Really easy matchup, you outsustain his burst and force him to go oom pretty fast, mspeed and potions will make you nearly undefeatable. stay in spider when he shots a Q you simply E on him and burst the hell out of him then walk away before he E's underneath him, you can also shapeshift EQW AA him after wards but then you will eat some trades.

VS

Zyra

Easy

Why Elise Mid? Back to Top

Elise is a very potent midlaner for 3 major reasons:

  • She has very good mobility and can gank easely bot top or jungle.
  • She has very high sustain and good amount of pressure against AD and AP mid
  • She can overextend against most junglers without dieing, drawing the attention away from other lanes.

She is also viable Top and very potent in Jungle but mid is where Elise shines the most. There is no other champion in League of Legends that is so versatile and that can be played exactly the way YOU want.

The enemy has lots of damage but lacks tankiness?
Elise says: "NO PROBLEM BRO" goes tanky and still destroys what she' focuses on.

The enemy has lots of AOE going on?
Elise says: "CYA LATER BRO"goes rageblade and splitpushes like a beast.

The enemy has lots of splitpush?
Elise says: "HYA BROSKY" and simply brawls like a boss even against jax or riven.

I'm not the best player or anything i'd be challenger then, but i played some tournaments and people were so pissed on my elise play that they banned it every match for 3 Months straight! Why do people do this on an average Gold player? it's because this build jeopardizes even high diamond players. Elise is so variable to play that no one can counter her and no one can pre strategize your gameplay it's impossible. A champion like Ryze is very easy to predict, you don't have a lot of variables to calculate. Elise has 3 ways to engage an enemy without any items and she can either bruteforce you down, she can outplay you so that your teammates can finish you, she can re-engage after your skills are on cooldown, she can even KITE you ashe-style with rylais even against gap closers.

The point is she "can" do all those crazy things, the question is: can you?

I'm completely honest with you, I mess up sometimes even though i played her 500 ranked games. She is very very difficult to learn... and to master. 1 different item can completely change the way she plays, even 1 different rune can change your gameplay dramatically.

Bottom line:

My guide isn't supposed to say its the absolute best Mid Guide for Elise, the only thing that I can promise is that if you play her this way @ midlane is that you will start having a very high KDA rate that is constant even after hundreds of games. It's worth a try no?
