Summoner Spells Back to Top

Flash

1) Eve is squishy. Onearrow-10x10.png of the squishiest champions in the gamearrow-10x10.png.
2) Playingarrow-10x10.png Eve, you should make yourarrow-10x10.png opponents feel afraid to recall under their own tower, and Flash lets you get in and out from under tower while killing them.

Smite

1) You're jungling. Don't be stupid.

Masteries Back to Top

Thunderlord's Decree is pretty good, however I've recently been testing Stormraider's Surge and it's been real good.

Update: Stormraider's Surge is amazing. It lets you play a lot like you have eve's old speed boost from her ult back. You're able to chase under tower and get out real easy.

You may notice a slight hiccup in the leveling orderarrow-10x10.png. While you do want to max evelynnQ.png first for various reasons, at level 4 you want the extra burst for early ganks that you get from putting a second point into evelynnE.png. An extra 40 damage and 15% attack speed is pretty good at level 4, and better for taking down targetsarrow-10x10.png than the extra ~10 damage you get from evelynnQ.png, even if you get to evelynnQ.png them multiple times. You want to do as much damage to them as possible while yourarrow-10x10.png laner has them CC'd and before they can flash away from you.

evelynnpassive.png[Shadow Walk]

Oh my poor Shadow Walk. How far you've fallen. Ok, I'm past the nostalgia.

Shadow Walk is what makes Evelynn, well, Evelynn.
While stealthed, Eve regenerates 2% of her missing mana per second.

Eve is Stealthed until one of these conditions are met, and after 6/5/4/3 seconds of not dealing or being dealt damage:

1) She deals damage.
2) She is dealt damage.
3) She gets within a range of 700 of an enemy champion.

This is why you play this champion. Want to ignore green wards? Play Evelynn. Want to make 1v1s into surprise 2v1s? Play Evelynn. Want to farm up the jungle and spend as little time ganking as possible? Get off of this guide. Don't play Evelynn.

Ok, so in the jungle this is use mainly to regen mana between camps and ganks. The mana costs on Eve's abilities are pretty low, but you'll be using Q/W/E pretty much on cooldown through the entire jungle, so you'll use it a lot faster than you think.

evelynnQ.png[Hate Spike]

Hate Spike 'prioritizes the target Evelynn is attacking' in the same way that Rito prioritizes balancing this game: most of the time it's pretty on target, but sometimes they just go off in directions that you weren't expecting and no one really asked for. Just a friendly PSA that you're going to encounter bugs with this ability.

evelynnQ.png Scales on both AD and AP.

Ok, so in the jungle there are some tricks you'll need to learn.

Geometry

Did you pay attention that year in math class? Because Eve's clear speed is all about the angles. Angling the jungle creeps so that you'll hit the maximum number of them with evelynnQ.png gives eve one of the fastest clear speeds you can hope for out of a jungler. I'll try to describe the positioning for you. All of these are assuming you'll be attacking the big jungle monster first. You get the most damage out of evelynnQ.png by hitting the highest number of targets.

  Gromp

You know what? Just skip gromp. Until you go back, he's just not worth doing. He's the only target for evelynnQ.png to hit, meaning you don't get a bunch of extra damage from it hitting 2-4 targets at once.

   Blue Buff

It's really hard to hit more than Blue+1 minion at a time. Just drag the Buff into the bush with evelynnQ.png and it will normally push the little one closest to you into the bush with it and you'll hit both of them at once.

  Wolves

Run up to wolves, use evelynnQ.png, and drag them back to the wall in front of them, furthest away from their enclosure. They'll clump up and you can hit all 3 of them at once. you may need to position yourself slightly to the side, because one sometimes runs a little to the side to attack you.

Raptors

This one is pretty tricky, and took me some practice to figure out. Imagine there's an X going through the camp. You're going to click at the bottom right leg, between two small raptors. While on your way there, use evelynnQ.png when it becomes available, but continue running to where you previously clicked. This should drag all of the raptors into a tight circle in front of/slightly to the side of you, allowing you to hit all of them at once.

Red Buff

Again, it's pretty hard to hit all 3 creeps in this camp at once. If you start behind and slightly to either side of the buff, evelynnQ.png will hit Red and one of it's minions at the same time.

Golems

Only two monsters here, so it's pretty easy to angle them so you can hit both. Stand next to the little golem while auto attacking the big one, and evelynnQ.png will hit both of them.

evelynnW.png [Dark Frenzy]

This ability will break slows and make you run super fast. It's cooldown is reset by kills and assists, but it is also lowered by 1 second whenever you hit an enemy with an ability. If you're being chased, remember to spam evelynnQ.png to get the cooldown refresh. You'll be able to get away from a lot of situations that you really shouldn't because of this.

evelynnE.png [Ravage]

Ravage is a point-and-click nuke that, again, scales on both AD and AP. It also gives you a pretty hefty attack speed buff, which you'll see is pretty important when you get to the items.

evelynnR.png [Agony's Embrace]

This ability is, quite frankly, crap. You have to open up with it because it does % current HP damage, but you want to save the shield for when they're really focusing you. The shield scales based on how many people it hits, so it's best in team fights and does this seem like the champ that wants to initiate the team fights? It only scales on AP, when the rest of her abilities have hybrid scaling. It's AP scaling is terrible at that.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Refillable Potion doesn't leave you with enough health to safely gank after getting level 3.

Core Items

The slow from this is your only pre-6 CC, and you're gonna need it for ganks.
This should be Duskblade of Draktharr, but it hasn't been added yet.
Hybrid stats for your hybrid abilities? Yes please! And an extra 200 damage nuke? Yikes!
    Gotta go fast!

Situational Items

Enemy team has a lot of AP or one fed AP champ.
I like this after gunblade. Some survival stats and extra damage on your first auto.
    Last item if anything.
Build Order:
 3133.png>1001.png>3706.png>1400.png>3134.png/1038.png>Duskblade>3144.png>3145.png>3146.png

Ok, so this is probably where you're startingarrow-10x10.png to question my sanity. Almost pure AD on Evelynn? Yeah.

Like you, until 6.3, I built eve as a kind of bruiser/CDR tank. She just couldn't get enough damage to reliably make an assassin build workarrow-10x10.png

With the introduction of Duskblade of Draktharr, eve can finally reliably kill people in the mid gamearrow-10x10.png

We take Stalkers because we need some pre-6 CC that also adds to our burst even a small amount.

Warrior is because it makes yourarrow-10x10.png autos hurt in the early gamearrow-10x10.png, which you need because your ability damage isn't goingarrow-10x10.png to be enough to kill most people.

And now we get to the new item: Duskblade of Draktharr. Holy...I can not express how great this item is. It gives you flat AD, Armor Penetration, and Movement Speed. AD scales your abilities, Armor Pen makes your evelynnE.png and autos hit harder, and movement speed helps make it seem like you're everywhere at once from the enemy's perspective. About the passive: For a lot of your targets, you'll actually kill them before the ability can proc. This is ok though, because the CD is refunded in that case and they're going to feel like they need to build some defenses. Once they do that, the passive will kill them when they escape with that small sliver of health.

VS

Aatrox

Hard

He's a lot like yi, except he's not easy to counter jungle early game. Your best bet is to counter gank him or just hope your team has the CC needed to deal with him.

VS

Ahri

Easy

I just had a jungle Ahri in a ranked game so...she's really easy. Kill her early and often in her jungle.

VS

Amumu

Hard

Tank amumu feels like a medium match up, but full ap amumu is horrible for you.

VS

Kindred

Hard

Her R deletes you as a character if she can use it well. Get picks early game and hope your team can get her ult out before you have to open up.

VS

Master Yi

Hard

Early game he's a really easy gank in his jungle. Mid-late game though you have nothing on his damage, so you'll rely on your team's CC to kill him.

VS

Nidalee

Easy

She's a fairly easy gank in the jungle, especially early on. Later in the game spears can be a problem, but avoid those and you're golden.

VS

Rammus

Easy

Rammus doesn't have a very good early clear, and he's really easy to gank in his jungle early game.

VS

Rengar

Easy

He's an easy kill in his jungle early, and you out-damage him, weird as that sounds, unless he gets fed.

VS

Shyvana

Hard

Shyvana hits really hard and get free tank stats. She's hell to 1v1 outside of the first couple levels.

VS

Trundle

Medium

Trundle has good clear speed and stays pretty healthy, making him a risky early gank. He also becomes either really tanky, or shreds you with botrk mid-late game. However, if you can get off the early gank and keep him down, you should be good.

VS

Volibear

Hard

He has as ton of health and CC, making him really hard to gank in the jungle. He also puts significant pressure on the lanes. Your best bet here is to get a good gank on him at his second buff if you can. Counter-gank when possible.

Mindset and Strategies Back to Top

Mindset

Evelynn is all about the ganks. Killing is what she lives for, and that's what you should live for while playingarrow-10x10.png her.

Jungle Route

First of all, you want to find out which buff the enemy jungler is starting out. Generally that's going to be wherever the bot lane is but, like me, some people want to start off at red for various reasons. Just run over to their blue and check it out to see if that's where they're starting.

You're going to start at Golems. You'll need a good leash, because you won't want to use smite on them. This is because you clear so fast that you'll need to wait on smite's CD to come up if you use it on Golems.

After Golems, go to red. Pop a potion on the way over to Red. Use smite here for the health buff, and pop a potion while killing it.

Next up is Raptors. You'll use your last potion here, but not your smite even if it comes back up in time.

Congratulations, you just cleared that faster than the enemy jungler cleared their side.

You'll be level 3 here, and now it's time to make a decision: are you good or are you bad?

If you're bad, continue on to blue side and farm up. Hope you enjoy your loss.

If you're good, you know roughly where the enemy jungler is and how much health they have left. If mid lane isn't incredibly easy to gank, you run to the enemy's second buff, ward in the bush beside it, and kill them. If it's red, make sure to smite it before they can so you get the health boost and not them.

There are very few junglers you can't kill this way. And kill again when they come back to take the buff that you left there as bait.

Ganking Lanes

Ganking is really easy as Evelynn. Probably the easiest in the game. You circle around behind the enemy laner. Your laner starts a 1v1 or 2v2, maybe it'll look like a losing trade for them. Then BAM the enemy is dead and one of you has a kill.

Something that just comes with experience playing a jungler and evelynn in general is knowing where to be on the map and when. Which lanes are pushing or are going to be pushing soon. Which champs have synergy with you in a gank and which enemies are incredibly easy to gank. In general though, if the enemy is at the river or over it toward your side, at the very least you should be able to burn their flash. If they are at your tower, you are almost guaranteed a kill barring the most mobile of enemy champions.
