Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png12.png Standard. Teleport allows you to have immense global presence and can easily result in a double kill botlane vs a pushed opponent.

4.png14.png Works well in the mid lane. Can also work top lane if you prefer kill pressure over global presence. This is a must for champs like36.png or266.png. With the addition of Unsealed Spellbook, it is possible to take ignite for early kill pressure and still be able to switch to tp for the mid game. Such a strategy works well in lanes that are very snowbally such as against 92.png.

New Runes Back to Top

GraspGrasp%20of%20the%20Undying.png?width=32

I've found Grasp to be one of the best keystones on Fiora so far, especially if you have any intention of playing to win the lane. Grasp gives you 65 hp + 6 AD with this page in the early game (That's pretty much a mini-Doran's Blade). Grasp gives you the ability to trade effectively with other bruisers, and gives you free stats in terms of hp. The extra hp gained from grasp helps to survive future all ins from those bruisers. If you have lane control, and are utilizing grasp procs often, you'll usually get out of lane with about 150-200hp(400+ gold worth of stats). Combined with Revitalize and the heal from the vital proc itself, you actually have decent sustain during those trades.

Bone Plating is just way too good to not take right now. Demolish is strong but bone plating is pretty much essential in most lanes to win aggressive trades.

Chrysalis is a strong rune, giving you the crucial hp you need for the early lane phase, whist still giving you some ad for mid game. Second wind is great for surviving lane bullies like126.png80.png, and especially those who have DoT such as 68.png17.png.

I've found Revitalize to be extremely effective as well. It increases your healing from lifesteal, Grasp, Vital procs, and your ultimate healing for the team. It just goes extremely well with Fiora's kit as a whole.

As for your secondary page, Sorcery gives the most early AD in addition to the health given from Resolve. Transcendence is the most useful from the second row. Gathering storm is good for getting the late game AD back that Fiora has lost in Season 8 with Fervor being removed. If you want more lane pressure, Scorch is the way to go. Nullifying Orb can be taken in some AP matchups if you feel you need it, however I've found most of the time the small shield won't save you.

Precision can be taken if you're used to having attack speed on Fiora. It makes the autos feel a lot smoother and it specially noticeable when trying to to fast auto attack cancels. If you're planning on building Black Cleaver, having the 18% atk speed from Alacrity, combined with the 9% from the tree itself makes up for the attack speed you would've had with Trinity Force. Triumph is extremely strong at the moment, and the healing is even increased by Revitalize, making the mastery just amazing.

179.png

KleptomancyKleptomancy.png?width=32

Kleptomancy is a great way to gain extra gold in the lane phase, and accelerate yourself into the mid-late game with items. It is best used against tanks such as 54.png57.png, because you aren't going to solokill them in the lane phase anyway, and it helps you to keep up in scaling against them. Tanks also have a harder time retaliating against you when you go in for a klepto proc, so you can get more gold for free against them. Against carries and bruisers, using klepto is a lot harder, as without the raw trading stats from grasp/conqueror, you'll often get out traded on their retaliation.

I prefer to take biscuit delivery for the extra sustain in lane over future's market because of the massive sustain advantage you gain over your opponent if they do not have biscuits as well. Magical footwear will usually be taken over stopwatch unless the opponent has a very scary top/jg dive such as 58.png60.png

Cosmic Insight is just an all-around good rune, cant go wrong with it. Time warp tonic is also good, and has great synergy with biscuits.

179.png

Conqueror13003d6fa9393a112.png?width=32

Finally the (joke of a) replacement for Fervor is here! Conqueror gives 10-35 AD based on level and converts 20% of damage done to true damage, and works on a grasp-like combat system. If you previously used grasp before, using conqueror shouldn't be much different. Conqueror is actually at one of its strongest points in the early game (especially level 1!!) when it gives you 10AD ( a free 1036.png). For this reason, you will win most trades top if you have this rune and the opponent doesn't, so make sure to abuse level 1. The true damage also is a bigger factor than most people think, because it makes Trinty Force a much better item on her, since some of the damage will be converted to true damage.

Overall, this is the best rune on her right now, and will work into pretty much any matchup except for hard ranged bullies.

179.png

Fleet FootworkFleet%20Footwork.png?width=32

Fleet Footwork is the best keystone against lane bullies. It provides sustain, and movement speed in addition to your fiorapassive.png proc to avoid retaliation after trading by running away into the bush. You'll get guaranteed bonus healing if you make sure to prepare your fiorae.png crit before using FF. Bloodline gives more sustain as the lane goes on, Alacrity can be taken if you prefer the attack speed. Coup de Grace is the best rune for the last slot, out-damaging the other two by a large margin.
179.png

Unsealed SpellbookSummoner%20Specialist.png?width=32

Mostly inferior to the other runes right now after it's nerfs.

Masteries Back to Top

Why fervor?:

The rework of Fervor actually left Fiora arguably better off than she was before, as the mastery now gives AD. This makes not only AA's stronger, but also her Passive procs, Q, and E crit stronger as well. Increased healing on ultimate after you've completely procced it is also a nice benefit.

Fresh Blood vs. Feast:

Both are equally viable. I prefer fresh blood particularly for the extra poke, and extra kill potential early on (especially level 1). Feast is better in matchups where you will need the extra sustain such as 80.png133.png.

Why not Assassin?

Assassin is not as good as it may sound. A 2% damage increase only equates to 20 extra damage in a 1000 damage combo. And for this mastery to even be in effect, you need to be alone. It does not have as much value as the extra healing and mana from biscuits with secret stash.

Greenfather's Gift vs. Bandit vs Dangerous Game:

Each of these are actually viable in their own way. GG is great if you are someone who loves to take advantage of bushes(as you should be doing in ranged matchups), however, it also works on minions so you must make sure that you have an open trading opportunity once you come out from the bush. Bandit is an interesting one. The gold can accumulate quite nicely (or poorly) depending on how much you are poking with Q. The problem with this mastery is that unlike someone like 41.png, who can proc this mastery with no retaliation from the other laner, Fiora has to dash into the opponent to consistently gain gold from this mastery. Therefore, if you are behind or in not such a great matchup, this mastery can be quite useless. Dangerous Game is the standard choice, and best overall choice if you cant decide. Always useful. This also helps in 1v2 situations combined with your fioradance.png healing to really turn the tide.

12 in Resolve:

I'm currently testing 12 in the resolve tree to make good use of Veterans Scars and Fearless for early game stat advantages in the 1v1. Veteran's Scars coupled with a Doran's Blade gives you an extra 130 HP level 1, which is very powerful. Fearless gives a good amount of armor/mr to compliment the bonus early health and will help you to come out on top in trades.

Duelist's Dancefiorapassive.png

This is what makes Fiora so dominant in trades. Percentage HP True damage is a very powerful source of damage that allows Fiora to be the dominant laner and duelist that she is. Try to zone your opponent with this, as it can be a good intimidation tool if in an easily accessible spot. The movement speed is very nice for lunging in for a pop and then getting out swiftly.

179.png

Lungefioraq.png

Lunge is a very versatile ability. Can be used to chase or escape and provides good mobility. You can lunge over small walls as well. The 60% CD reduction upon landing the ability is very important, as it will be accessible multiple times in somewhat longer early game trades, allowing you to successfully out-trade the opposing laner. Mastering this ability gives you the power to dance around your opponents, making it hard to keep up with the mix of mobility and damage Fiora puts out. Keep in mind that this ability is treated as a basic attack, and also applies on-hit effects.
179.png

Ripostefiorariposte.png

Riposting effectively is what separates the mediocre Fioras from the great. Riposte allows what would usually be an extremely hard lane(58.png24.png92.png) to become that much easier, by being able to parry and effectively turn their important spells around on them. Riposte also applies a 50% attack and movement speed slow, excellent for trades with AS reliant laners such as23.pngand 39.png. This ability at level 2 is extremely powerful, since if you use it to parry an ability, you effectively have 2 spells to their 1(the other one of which being parried).
179.png

Bladeworkfioraflurry.png

Bladework allows Fiora to not only crush early game trades with the auto attack reset + crit, but allows her to be an effective splitpusher by taking down towers faster. Using this in tandem with a hitting a vital off lunge can burst an opponent heavily in the early levels. The slow applied on the first hit can be used to either create or to close distance from your opponent. The crit scales up over time, making Fiora's level 13 very dominant. In tandem with Fleet%20Footwork.png?width=32, you can utilize the crit to get bonus healing in lane.
179.png

Grand Challengefioradance.png

Grand Challenge serves its purpose in making Fiora one of, if not the best duelist in the game. Using this ability to the fullest potential is difficult. In teamfights, this ability serves as a great AoE heal for your team provided you can kill the target you place it on. You need to be able to effectively judge whether the correct play would be to place it on a squishy, high priority target or to use it on an opponent close to dying to immediately proc the heal. It can also be used to put heavy damage on a tank that your team otherwise wouldn't be able to kill. Keep in mind that the heal time gets higher for each vital hit, so it may be better to save your ult for a target you can proc more vitals on.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Standard
    For Pantheon
Good against lanes with DoT or deathfire touch (Teemo, Rumble, etc)

Core Items

These items are essential to Fiora. They give her great waveclear to be a prominent splitpusher, as well great life steal. Tiamat also has an auto reset, very useful in tandem with Fiora's E.
These two items add to Fiora's mobility, as well as give her some much needed health. BC is especially important for the CDR it provides, as well as the armor shred.
Great armor items to increase your survivability in fights. Dead man's provides great mobility and is standard. Randuins can be used against a team with a lot of crit/AS reliant champions(Tryndamere, Master Yi, Yasuo, etc.)
Treads are the most effective. Ionian boots can be taken if you need the extra 10% . Tabi's are effective in the 1v1 against champions like Irelia or Tryndamere.
    Offensive 3rd item
your standard MR Item. provides good health, mr and increases all of your healing. the CDR is nice as well
    Standard complete build
    Vs heavy AP
    vs full AD
    40% CDR core w/o runes
    Full splitpush mode

Situational Items

Great item against AP laners such as Rumble and Vladimir. Maw also now gives CDR which is very helpful for completing your 40%
    Good with Conqueror
An option for another lifesteal item. Passive mitigates burst in the 1v1, and allows you time to lifesteal it back.
Extremely good now with the rework giving 40 AD. Can be built as a 3rd Offensive/Defensive item if fed
Great sources of CDR and defensive stats if behind.
    Situational. Use them as needed.
Cheap defensive item against heavy burst
    Singed

Conqueror + Trinity Force - and why it works.13003d6fa9393a112.png?width=643078.png

179.png
With the introduction of Conqueror into Fiora's arsenal, Trinity Force has become a much better buy than it was. Trinity Force's main weaknesses stemmed from its:
  • Lack of AD compared to Black Cleaver + 2 Longswords(same price as TF)
  • Lack of armor penetration, making the physical damage of the Trinity Force hurt less
179.png
Now with conqueror, that AD difference is made up through the rune, and the armor penetration is made up through the extra true damage you get from it as well. This makes Trinity Force a much more advantageous buy over Black Cleaver in many scenarios. Cleaver now has no big advantage over trinity force, apart from the cost difference. However, the extra power you gain from Trinity Force now combined with conqueror is enough to offset this difference in gold. Some advantages now include:
  • Attack Speed: which makes Fiora feel A LOT more fluid and helps to proc vitals even faster, especially combined with Legend%20Alacrity.png?width=32. The attack speed also helps when taking towers as well, and getting extra true damage auto attacks of with conqueror.
  • Sheen: which is a large damage boost towards squishy targets and towers. Some of its damage also gets converted to true damage through conqueror which makes it feel even stronger.
  • Movement Speed + Mana: which can be viewed as negligible stats, but still do have some purpose on Fiora, the movement speed especially helping to catch up to slippers champions such as 157.png92.png.

VS

Aatrox

Easy

He can't out-trade you early. If he tries to knock you up withaatroxQ.png, parry it for a good trade. Beware of his passive and don't dive him unless it's down. He will constantly poke you with his aatroxE.png, so try to avoid is as much as possible.  You can duel at level 6 in an even or ahead lane. A 3123.png is a smart item to pick up early to cement your advantage in lane.

VS

Akali

Medium

Very important to try to get a lead before 6, as she can actually duel you if you are not ahead after 6. An early hexdrinker is a smart decision. Get good trades with lunges and parry her empowered akalimota.png auto attack. Remember that you can still hit her in her shroud with your fioraq.png. After her shroud is down, you can trade freely with her. Akali is very sticky, so don't be conservative with4.png thinking you can get away without it. You will be able to duel Akali late game provided she doesn't snowball out of control.

VS

Camille

Medium

Both of you can outplay the other. Don't assume you can parry immediately every time Camille jumps to a wall, as she can delay her jump or even otherwise miss on purpose to try and bait out fioraw.png. Play around hercamillepassive.png, as she is vulnerable when its on cd. Try to fioraq.png into her when she uses hercamillew.png, so you don't take extra damage and so she doesn't heal. Disengage after you see the second part of her camilleq.png activate. You can parry the entire usage ofcamiller.png if necessary. Early 3047.png is great if you're having trouble.

VS

Cho'Gath

Easy

Not too hard of a lane. Dance around him with q's and try to parry his knockup as best you can. Abuse level 1 if he uses his spikes on the minions. If you hit 6 before him, go all immediately. If he silences you first, run away, as you wont be able to parry the incoming knockup. Early 3077.png rush is great for keeping him under tower. A 3071.png rush can work if you plan to focus solely on the 1v1.

If Cho' gets ahead it isn't the end of the world. Call for jungle help as cho' is very immobile. If Cho' decides to go first item 3027.png, then you can still duel him if he misses his rupture.pngferalscream.png. If he goes for a 3110.png however, you will not be able to beat him 1v1. Cho'gath isn't the best roamer, so take advantage of his limited mobility and make plays. You can duel Cho'gath late game.

VS

Darius

Medium
Fleet%20Footwork.png?width=32Is very strong in this lane for the ability to move in on his dariuscleave.png and still have the movement speed to avoid getting pulled back in. You will most likely get pushed under tower early. If he starts getting cocky under your tower, make sure to punish. Try to parry his pull as best you can. If he gets one on you before 6, parry either his dariuscleave.png or dariusnoxiantacticsonh.png for an even trade. After 6 you should be looking to parry the dariusexecute.png. This matchup is highly movement-speed based, and after 6 is a race to see who gets to 5 stacks or 4 vital procs first. If you get ahead don't let up on him, constantly be aggressive. You can duel him at level 6 in an even or ahead lane.

If Darius gets ahead, DO NOT STEP NEAR HIM. Farm under tower as best you can. Beware of jungler dives. Darius is immobile, so ask for jungler help if having trouble.

VS

Diana

Medium

Similar to Akali, it is important to gain an advantage before 6 as Diana can actually duel you after 6 if not careful. Early hexdrinker is advised. Try to parry her dianaE.png, but if it isn't working out for you then parrying when she dashes is fine as well. You out-sustain her heavily early on, so taking trades is okay. Abuse level 1. Be careful dueling her after 6 without a lead.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

Mundo can't do anything to you. Never let him rest, find trades over and over. Be careful for the permaslows if overextended, as the jungler can easily come in for a kill. After 6 you still have kill pressure provided that the lane went even or ahead in your favor. An early 3123.png Is a smart decision to make sure you stay ahead.

VS

Ekko

Medium

After the constant nerfs to Tank ekko, this matchup has become easier over time. You want to be sure to parry the 3rd proc of his passiveekkopassive.png, as this is where a lot of his damage lies. After he uses a full rotation of spells, Ekko is very susceptible to chase-downs. Abuse level 1.

If against AP Ekko, the same applies for what to parry. 3155.png is an almost mandatory early buy. Ekko will likely push into you early on with ekkoQ.png. Let this happen, and try to set up a freeze. Level 6 can actually go either way, as Ekko can outplay you.

VS

Fizz

Hard

With the new Fizz rework comes the return of Tank Fizz, and its still as cancer as ever before. He can keep up with your mobility. Auto attack trades will be very difficult if you don't manage to parry his fizzseastonepassive.png proc. He wins level 1 if he takes fizzseastonepassive.png. Level 6 can go either way, depending on if he misses his fish or not. If it does, be sure to take advantage of the fish hitting you for a stun fiorariposte.png, as some fizz players will not expect it.

The 1v1 will become much easier as the game progresses, however fizz is still much more proficient than you are in teamfights. Take advantage of cooldowns, as if he uses his fizzjump.png or fizzpiercingstrike.png to cs, you know you have a trading window.

VS

Galio

Easy

Very easy lane. Galio will likely spam his galioq.png to shove and clear waves, pushing you under tower for the first couple levels. Try not to take too much poke from this, as he will then have lane control over you. Once you finish your 3077.png, you can match his shove.  Free kills at 6 with a parry on galiow.png or galioe.png

VS

Gangplank

Medium

1054.png is a great start in this lane to keep you healthy from parley.png poke, with 3047.png being another great item early if you are having an especially hard time. With the nerfed sustain on his parley.png, you should be trying to find trades as often as possible to eventually take him out of lane, as oranges cost quite a lot of mana over time. Parry his barrels as best you can. GP wins level 1 with the combination of parley.png+gangplankpassive.png. Levels 2-3 are good levels to trade and get an advantage. You can use your fiorae.png to quickly destroy barrels at 2 ticks. You can duel GP after 6 in an even or ahead lane.

VS

Garen

Easy

Garen is annoying, but can be dealt with by Fiora. Don't let up on him in lane as his passive will regen a lot of HP. Whenever he goes in on you with a garenslash3.png, parry it. If he ever tries to just garenbladestorm.png in your face, don't just run as he will still be hitting you for free damage. You need to trade back through it, and you will outdamage him. At level 6 you can duel him, BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE CONFIDENT YOU CAN PARRY THE garenjustice.png. If you don't think you can, It'd be better to wait until you really start to outscale Garen at 2 items.

VS

Gnar

Medium

Gnar has good early poke tools, but your mobility is just too much for him to handle after a  3044.png . In mini form, be sure to parry his gnarW.png proc. You can duel him in mega-gnar form at 6 if you can parry his gnarR.png or W stun. A full out 3071.png rush is good if he gets a lot of early armor. Gnar will likely push you in early, but if you can set up a freeze you are golden. You can chase gnar down the long lane.

You can still duel Gnar while behind, just not while he's in mega form. Gnar will be more useful than you when teamfights come around, so constantly be pressuring the side lanes.

VS

Illaoi

Medium

Illaoi's abilities are all telegraphed, and as such are easy to react to. However, the punishment for not reacting is VERY high as she does a ton of damage alongside her tentacles. General strategy for this lane is to use your mobility to your advantage. You can parry her illaoiQ.png easily, same withillaoiE.png and evenillaoiR.png. Therefore, Riposte is extremely important in this matchup. In the case that she lands herillaoiE.png and grabs your spirit, you don't always need to run away. Fighting Illaoi reduces the lifetime of the spirit. Be sure that while doing this, she isn't getting extra damage by hitting you AND the spirit. If you run away and become a vessel, dodge the first tentacle and make sure to STAY NEAR THAT TENTACLE WITHOUT DESTROYING IT. New tentacles cannot spawn as long as you are near to one already.

Generally you don't want to fioradance.png Illaoi too early, as once she illaoiR.png you will need to retreat away and come back, wasting your ult time.

VS

Irelia

Medium

This lane is extremely snowbally. One kill pretty much determines the lane for either side. Your parry is extremely important to turn around her stun, and for the AS slow. If she ever uses her ireliahitenstyle.png for sustain, immediately force a trade when it's down as she wont be able to trade back. DO NOT FIGHT HER after she's competed a Tri-force unless you're ahead. You can duel at 6 in an even or ahead lane. ABUSE LEVEL 1 IF SHE STARTS ANYTHING OTHER THAN ireliaequilibriumstrike.png. If she does not start with her stun you have a massive advantage that will win you the lane at level 1, as she cannot trade back with repeated lunges.

VS

Jax

Medium

Pretty much like Irelia, but  has a weaker early game and scales better into the late game. About parrying Jax's jaxcounterstrike.png, the duration of it is 2 seconds long. The duration of fiorariposte.png is 0.75 seconds, meaning that if 1.25 seconds have passed, its a guaranteed stun. Get a feel of whether he does this, or stuns immediately on landing with jaxleapstrike.png, as whoever stuns will win the trade, and the 1v1 late game. Jax's trade after 6 consists of jaxleapstrike.png+AA+jaxempowertwo.png+jaxrelentlessassault.png+3057.png. This burst will be HEAVY if you don't parry it, keep track of Jax's 3-hit passive to see when he will go for this trade.  Force short trades, and do not use your E if his E is still up.

VS

Jayce

Hard

Ban him. Seriously.

If you do happen to be unfortunate enough to have to play this matchup, you're going to have to wait until the Jayce player makes a mistake. If he uses any of his spells on the wave and not on you, go in for a trade. Once he misses shock blast, he can only really significantly damage you with jaycetotheskies.png, so parry it. After that he will likely jaycethunderingblow.png you away. Take it, he's disengaging the trade for you, which you have most surely won as long as you hit at least 1 vital. You can also take advantage of his jaycestancehtg.png cooldown, especially after level 6, as he doesn't actually have a true ultimate in a 1v1.

If the Jayce is a type of player to instantly jaycestancehtg.png-jaycethunderingblow.png you away after you go in on a missed shock blast, remember it, and parry it the next time. Jayce is fairly vulnerable to ganks, so don't be afraid to ask for help.

VS

Kennen

Hard

Cancer champion. Unfortunately, fiorariposte.png'ing his stun will not stun Kennen back, and you will still be left with two marks of the storm, meaning he will stun you again. Very hard to out trade Kennen in the lane phase, and catching up to him is also difficult due to his kennenlightningrush.png. You will not be able to kill a good Kennen at all in the lane phase without jungle assistance. After 6 is a tossup in Kennen's favor, but can work out for you if you can go in when he's used his cooldowns.

VS

Kled

Medium

This lane is not as easy as it seems. Kled's kledq.png is a free stun for us, yes. But if the Kled is good, he'll be able to dodge the stun using his klede.png. In which case, his Q has a much shorter cd than our parry, and he'll be able to abuse that. Kled's early damage is very strong, especially level 1. If he hits you with a kledq.png at level one, do not try to trade with him. Most times, you want to wittle him down slowly, and then save your fiorar.png for when he's about to demount, so you can burst him quickly with the extra vitals before he has a chance to remount.

VS

Malphite

Medium

Never let him rest early game and try to keep his passive from coming back up. BC first over hydra if he's stacking armor. Keep track of his roams after 6 so your team doesn't get collapsed on. If you're low HP in lane watch for a dive with his jungler. You can duel after 6 in an even or ahead lane. Push into him heavily, as Malphite cannot cs very well under tower. His poke with maxing seismicshard.png and Arcane%20Comet.png?width=32 is pretty insane, so be sure to take some sort of defense or sustain in your runes.

VS

Maokai

Easy

Always parry his maokaiunstablegrowth.png for a free stun. Maokai has little kill pressure on you, but has pretty decent sustain. Force trades early game and go in for a kill at 6. Maokai can easily set-up for ganks with his jungler, so beware of overextending. Abuse level 1 here, as Maokai's level 1 is not very strong. In teamfights, using fioradance.png on maokai and focusing on him first is a good idea especially if you've invested into a 3123.png, as otherwise your team most likely wont be able to kill him.

VS

Nasus

Hard

You CAN parry his wither, although it is difficult. Your only chance to kill him is before his first defensive item, as when he gets his 3110.png you cannot duel him. ABUSE LEVEL 1. Nasus has an abysmal level 1 that you need to take advantage of. Let him push into you a little bit at the start, as he needs to if he wants to get early stacks going. Afterwards once he goes for a cs, go all in. If you happen to get heavy damage on him early, or even a kill, FREEZE THE LANE as best you can. You will never win this lane by trying to deny stacks under his tower, as he will lifesteal your damage all day. If frozen on your side, he can never get cs without constantly usingspiritfire.png which will drain his mana. If you ever find him alone with no mana, go in for a kill. Jungler assistance is nice for this lane. His godofdeath.png now gives him some extra tankyness, making him very durable at level 6. He can turn fights around with his deceptive tankyness combined with his innate lifesteal.

If he starts maxing spiritfire.png, you need to go in for something every time he uses it. His upfront damage will not be strong without stacks. Don't take free damage or else he will forever have lane control.

If Nasus gets ahead, don't make the mistake of trying to deny him stacks by being in his lane 24/7 getting zoned. He will get stacks whether you are there or not since you cant 1v1 him anyway. You NEED to make plays and create pressure around the map. Take dragons, towers. etc. and snowball your team.

VS

Nautilus

Easy

This lane is all about just not taking stupid trades. That means, when he has his shield up, leave him alone until its down, then take advantage. You can parry his auto attack for a stun, getting you very good trades early game. Nautilus will likely push into you early with nautilussplashzone.png, so try and set a freeze, or call for an early gank. Level 6 onward are free kills as long as nautilus hasn't gotten too ahead.

VS

Nocturne

Medium

Nocturne top does have good kill pressure on you in the early levels. DO NOT FIGHT HIM at levels 1-2, as he will easily kill you. Try to parry his fear. You can duel him after 6 if the lane has gone even, but make sure to parry his fear and watch for his spellshield. Spam missing pings if nocturne leaves for even a second, as his ultimate has very long range and can snowball his team.

VS

Olaf

Medium

This can be a hard matchup if you cant dodge the axes. Try to establish your dominance in the lane early, however beware level 1 if he startsolafaxethrowcast.png. Early on you WILL get cheesed if he hits an axe and picks it up. After 6 you should have a lot more kill pressure on him than he does on you. An early 3123.png will help with his lifesteal. You outscale Olaf extremely hard going into mid-late game.

14.png is helpful, but not mandatory.

VS

Ornn

Medium

Ornn is a tank that can actually keep up with you in damage output in lane. You can avoid his ornnw.png by lunging to the side, preferably hitting a vital at the same time. If he hits you with it, however, you can parry his next auto attack for a stun, and proceed to trade. Once he finishes his 3076.png, trying to trade becomes pretty pointless, and you'll have to just farm up and perhaps wait for a gank. Your job is to keep him in lane for the time being, and get big enough to deal with him later in the splitpush or focus him down with fiorar.png in the teamfights.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

Hard matchup. Just sit back and relax for levels 1-5, don't trade early. Come level 6, you can duel him provided he doesn't get an early kill. In a 1v1 you have an ult and he doesn't, take advantage of that. Keep track of his roaming, as he can snowball his team easily. Pantheon is immobile, so jungle help is appreciated in this matchup.

If Pantheon happens to get a lead it can turn into a big mess for your team. Try to keep track on is roams as often as possible and always be shoving lane into his tower with3077.png while he's gone. A1031.png is good for early defense in this lane.

1029.png + 5 pots is preferred in this matchup.

VS

Poppy

Medium

Abuse level 1 here, as poppy has no answer unless she starts poppyparagonofdemacia.png. You can abuse poppyparagonofdemacia.png starting from level 2, by lunging into her and then using fiorariposte.png when you hit the barrier to stun her. Poppy's poppydiplomaticimmunity.png is very telegraphed, and makes for an easy parry. Don't underestimate Poppy's 1v1 potential, however. Especially after first back or first complete item. The key to successfully winning trades against Poppy is actually to destroy her passive shieldpoppypassive.png by walking over it if she throws it. Don't try to trade with Poppy if she has her shield on. Beware of the TP pressure poppy puts on you, as you cannot cancel hers but she can cancel yours. She is also much more useful than you in teamfights in general.

VS

Quinn

Hard

Quinn is a very good lane bully with her quinnQ.png blinding you and quinnE.png to create distance. However, you CAN parry her Vault for a stun. If not, parry the quinnpassive.pngempowered auto attack that follows. If she starts blind level 1, you can abuse it, as you can dodge it with your fioraq.png and she will have no mobility. An early 1054.png+3047.png are helpful here.

VS

Renekton

Medium

Renekton is a skill matchup that can go either way. Your Riposte is very crucial in this lane to parry his stun. If Renekton startsrenektoncleave.png ABUSE LEVEL 1. He has no answer to you without his stun.  If he dashes in on you pay attention to his blade. If it lights up, you know that he is using renektonpreexecute.png to try and stun you. A lot of Renekton's will also use their renektonpreexecute.png as an AA reset. This is significantly harder to parry. His level 6 is strong, but not quite as strong as yours if you are even. If you are uncomfortable in this matchup, let him push you in and just scale up, as you outscale Renekton heavily.

VS

Rengar

Easy

As long as you don't get level 2 cheesed, you will win lane. Again, DO NOT GET KILLED AT LEVEL 2. Pop your trinket in the bush. Save your parry for his empoweredrengarQ.png or rengarE.png. Come level 6, you can duel him easily. Most Rengar tops will probably take 14.pngor3.png so look out for that. Come after 6, it is important that you parry as soon as he jumps out at you from his ultrengarR.png. This will block the crit, as well as 3077.png and 3147.png combo on that auto attack.

VS

Riven

Medium

This lane is a complete skill matchup. It favors Riven slightly early, and turns to favor Fiora later. ABUSE LEVEL 1. You will always win this, especially if riven has used 1 or 2 riventricleave.png either for just closing distance, or on the minion wave. Riven can be unpredictable, so don't expect her to use all 3 Q's in rapid succession for an easy parry. A good Riven will never even use her Q3 on you. Riposte is a big spell here to win trades and all-ins. Riposte needs to either be used on Riven's rivenfengshuiengine.pngR2 or on her Wrivenmartyr.png. Trading with Riven is tricky, as her shieldrivenfeint.png can pretty much negate your fioraq.png+fiorapassive.png. If you ever find her using her skills to push the wave or to CS, go in immediately as she will have no answer for you.

VS

Rumble

Hard

This lane depends on the skill of the Rumble player. Play around Rumble's cooldowns, as he cant trade with you without hisrumbleflamethrower.png. Early3155.png does wonders here. Rumble will likely push lane towards you early, try to get a gank. Once he completes 3136.png+3020.png , he will be stronger than you for awhile. Be sure to take 1054.png and Second%20Wind.png?width=32 to survive his poke.

VS

Shen

Medium

Be careful in early trades, as Shen does have the damage to trade back with you levels 1-3. His shenshadowdash.png is easily parried, so look for that opportunity when possible to inflict big damage. Levels 4-5 are where you're going to be looking to gain an advantage in this matchup. This will allow you to go all in at 6 since Shen doesn't have an ult in a 1v1 and you do. Beware of overextending, as Shen does set up for ganks fairly well if you fail to parry his taunt.

If Shen gets ahead, push the wave heavily to decrease his roaming ability. He is much more useful than you are in teamfights, so farm out side lanes to create pressure. If you see him ult out of your lane, take towers immediately or follow him with your own teleport. You can duel Shen late game.

VS

Singed

Hard

If the Singed player knows what he's doing you will have a decently hard time. In general there are two types of Singed players, lane Singed and proxy Singed

Lane Singed: Lane singed is a bit easier, as you can force trades with him in the early levels. Level 1 the trade can go either way, depending on how you both play it. Needless to say, don't stand in the poison for a long time. Level 2 is when you both spike, and again can go any way depending on how you both play it. The most important thing here is being able to parry hisfling.png, as he will win the trade if he is able to fling and get off an auto while you are still in the air. From levels 3 onward you should have an edge. You can duel him at 6 in an even or ahead lane.

Proxy Singed: This is a bit harder to deal with, especially if he knows what he's doing. Be sure to walk alongside your minions at level 1 so he cannot proxy. You need to rush3077.png as fast as possible to be able to keep up in waveclear. When your jungler decides to help, try to gank from somewhere he cant see you, or sweep for wards prior to the gank. If he spots your jungler he will just execute himself and you will have wasted a bunch of time on nothing. If your jungler decides to be uncooperative, you're on your own, and need to try to pressure him a bit before 6. After 6 he will run away from anything you do by yourself with insanitypotion.png+6.png and you will never be able to catch him.

After 7.14: His new grounding effect on megaadhesive.png along with the new 3075.png make this matchup  hard. Call for jungler help early if he is laning against you. You outscale at 3-4 items or after 3022.png.

VS

Sion

Easy

Dance all around this guy. He will never be able to keep up with your mobility. If he just repeatedly full charges up his q just to wave clear or even to try and hit you, just step in and parry for easy good trades. When he puts up his shield, break it if you have a nearby vital that you can proc for a fiorapassive.png+fioraq.png+fioraflurry.png combo. If you don't, just back off for a bit until it's gone. if you have a hard time dodging his poke, buy some early sustain1053.png

3071.png rush is a smart option to deal with his armor stacking as well as to give you more mobility.

VS

Teemo

Medium

Teemo is an annoyance. If he startsblindingdart.png blind then chill out for the first level and trade at level 2. You will always want to parry his blind if possible. Don't pop E if his blind is still up. Your goal in this lane (and in all ranged vs melee lanes) is to just not get stomped. A 2055.png and 3341.png first back is helpful for Teemo's post 6. If you want to go all in, just pop sweeper beforehand and you wont activate any shrooms you step on while fighting.

This video is a demo of how the lane should be played without getting completely stomped.

VS

Trundle

Medium

Early trades are your best friend against Trundle. He only has 1 damage ability, so don't be afraid to take trades levels 1-3. Similarly to Tryndamere, Trundle can lower your AD with his trundleQ.png, making it hard to trade back. If you can parry his trundleQ.png, you will win the trade.Be careful of overextending, as a gank set up by Trundle can be near impossible to escape from. Post 6, you might not be able to duel Trundle unless you parry his trundleR.png. Wait for your 3074.png to really start going all in.

VS

Tryndamere

Medium

Don't be afraid to abuse level 1 here, don't let him build up fury on minions for free. His mockingshout.png lowers your AD, redducing your damage by a lot. If he catches you off-guard with this, back off. Be careful if trynd took 14.png, as 1 or 2 crits at level 2 means you die. If struggling, an early 1054.png+3047.png reduces his damage by a lot.

Late game Tryndamere CAN still 1v1 you if you are not careful. make sure to proc all 4 vitals and kite out his ultimate while healing up in yours. You should save your parry for after he's in undyingrage.png, to slow him so he cant kill you or run away.

14.png Can be useful in this matchup, but is not mandatory.

VS

Vladimir

Easy
DO NOT LET UP ON HIM. He has no answer for you before 6. You cannot let him bully you. If he is vladimirtransfusion.png you from range then lunge into him and trade, but beware of his empowered vladimirtransfusion.png and either get out of range or fiorariposte.png it. If he decides to pool, your trade was successful, as he loses a significant amount of health as a cost. You can use the minions as blockers to his vladimirtidesofblood.png. An early 3155.png helps here, as well as a 1054.png if you're having trouble early.

14.png Is very helpful in this lane.

VS

Wukong

Medium

Beware of Wukong, especially if he takes14.png. His levels 1-3 are insanely strong. You guys trade fairly evenly levels 4-5, so take that opportunity to gain an advantage. If wukong uses his decoy too early, your 3077.png aoe will hit him and he will shimmer, revealing his position. 2033.png damage will also do the same thing in this matchup. You both have very strong level 6 powerspikes. If you manage to parry hismonkeykingspintowin.png you will come out on top in the 1v1. Try to bait out his monkeykingdecoy.png before ulting him, as you risk ulting the clone or losing out and your fioradance.png.

VS

Xin Zhao

Easy

Abuse level 1 here. Always parry his 3rdxenzhaocombotarget.pngstrike for a stun. His level 2 is very strong if he gets it before you, and you WILL die if you get caught off guard. His sustain is very good if he keeps auto attacking something, therefore you need to keep lane pressure to make sure that he isn't getting constant sustain.

VS

Yasuo

Medium

Yasuo is a tricky one, as the level 1 can go either way. Try not to let him bait you into taking massive minion aggro early on. Levels 3-4 are all yours, trade with him heavily during this time. Watch for his shield, and try to use3077.png's AOE to knock it down before going all in. Both of you have massive outplay potential on the other, so it will likely come down to skill as to who snowballs here.

Combos Back to Top

Trading Combo #1fiorapassive.png+fioraq.png This is your standard combo for short trades in lane. This combo helps you to gain a distinct advantage level one, and is hard to trade back to due to Fiora's movement speed gain, making it easy to retreat back.

179.png
Trading Combo #2fiorapassive.png+fioraq.png+AA+fioraflurry.png+AA This is a level 2 all-in combo. Use this if you bullied the level 1 and think you can get a kill with the slow + crit.
179.png
Trading Combo #3fiorapassive.png+AA+fioraflurry.png+AA+{fiorariposte.png}+AA+AA+ fiorapassive.png+fioraq.png Sometimes it is better to lead in with your AA - E reset in situations that the vital is easy to proc and doesn't need to be lunged to. This saves lunge for either more chase potential or for a quick retreat to avoid retaliation. This trade is for levels 3+ where you are going for longer trades to inflict heavy damage on the laner. Riposte is to be used as needed. After the first vital proc, walk and AA with your enemy until you see the second pop up, and lunge to it for a good trade.
179.png
All In combo #1fiorapassive.png+fioraq.png+fioradance.png+AA+fioraflurry.png+AA+AAfiorapassive.png{fiorariposte.png}+AA{14.png
}+AA+ fiorapassive.png+fioraq.png This is your standard all in at 6. Riposte and ignite are to be used as needed. Pop a vital BEFORE you pop grand challenge to get more damage off.
179.png
All In combo #2 -  fiorapassive.png+AA+fioraflurry.png+fioradance.png+AA+AA+ fiorapassive.png{fiorariposte.png}+{14.png}+fioraq.png+AA+fiorapassive.png+fioraq.png+fiorapassive.png+AA This is your all in combo starting off with E. Riposte and ignite are to be used as needed.
179.png
Hydra combofiorapassive.png+fioraq.png+AA+fioraflurry.png+AA+3074.png Hydra(Tiamat works too) provides you with a second auto reset in addition to your E. This provides Fiora with a lot of upfront burst done very quickly when used correctly.

ABUSE LEVEL 1 Back to Top

You will see me say ABUSE LEVEL 1 a lot, especially in the matchups section. This is because Fiora has one of the best level 1's in the game of any top laner.  Many matchups can be tilted heavily in your favor in level one, by abusing constant fiorapassive.png+fioraq.png procs, with autos weaved in between.

Once I see that Swain has used his swaintorment.png on me level 1, I immediately all-in because I know that he has no more damage left besides his ignite, and that I can kill him or at least burn both summoners. I make sure to try to get behind him (between him and his tower) to cut him off, and since he has ignite and I don't, he makes the mistake of thinking he can out-damage me, and I punish.

This can be done to most top lanes you will be in. If the enemy ever uses their ability on the wave, or an ability that has a fairly long cooldown level 1, you know you can punish with an all-in.

Here vs Renekton, we know that if he doesn't start W its a free all-in. Once his Q is down, he has no damage to match us, and our sustained damage is enough to kill him.

Once we come into lane against this Darius, we see that he

1. Is in lane and not waiting inside of a bush to cheese
2. Started dariuscleave.png and immediately used it on the wave

This gives us the opportunity to go for an extended trade during the level 1 where we are stronger. Once I dodge his second dariuscleave.png by walking back into him, I know he has no way to win the all-in.

Minion Control Back to Top

Being able to control the minion wave is essential to top lane. Minions can win trades, and even finish off kills. This is especially true in the early game, where minions do tons of damage in comparison to the champions. You must know when to freeze, and when to push your lane, to be able to effectively starve your opposing laner of EXP/gold.

Freezing the lane is essentially making the creep wave stay in one place. The best place to freeze is right in front of your tower, but not where the tower is actually hitting creeps. If your tower is allowed to hit creeps, then it will push the lane back, making your attempts to freeze the lane completely futile.

In order to set up your frozen lane, you need to make sure the enemy minions will always beat your minions. You can set this up level one by drawing the opposing minions to the side as they approach the middle of the lane. This requires you to walk in front of the enemy minions coming towards you and guiding them to one side of your lane. This will make it so the opposing minions focus down 1 minion on your side, making their minion wave larger, and making them push lane. This technique is especially useful against champs such as 75.png23.png157.png that cannot break it easily without receiving massive punishment in return. Freezing also provides easy ganks for your own jungler, since the enemy laner is far up. This video provides a good visual of how freezing would work.

Pushing lane is essentially the opposite of freezing. You are pushing the minion wave under the enemy tower in order for them to miss last hits due to the tower aggro, and to gain levels faster than your opposing laner. While your laner is stuck under turret, you are free to roam, take a jungle camp, or recall safely. If your minion wave is large enough, you can also plan a dive with your jungler. Pushing champions like 54.png36.png57.pngunder tower is very effective since they have a hard time last hitting under turret.
