New Runes Back to Top

Electrocute.png?width=64Huge burst of damage from a basic gravessmokegrenade.pnggravesqlinespell.png Auto attack combo, is somewhat delayed to old Thunderlords, but surprises enemies even more.

Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=64 Rewards AD for killing champions and wards
Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=64 Heal off abilities, as if Graves wasn't tanky enough this makes you even more durable.

Legend%20Alacrity.png?width=64 Free attack speed, helps with jungle clear speed  and some DPS

Masteries Back to Top

FEROCITY

  • Fury 5/5 - Free attack speed, attack quicker and reload faster
  • Fresh Blood 1/1 - Gives you more burst on Ganks, and any time you attack an enemy Champion for the first time
  • Vampirism 1/5 - 1 point gives you some sustain, which will have an impact, and you don't lose much for not having all 5 points in Natural Talent
  • Natural Talent 4/5 - More damage on Auto Attacks and all Abilities
  • Double Edge Sword 1/1 - Graves is looking to burst champions most the time, this Double Edge Sword is the best option in this row of masteries to give you the most damage at all stages of the game.

CUNNING

  • Wanderer 5/5 - Graves doesn't get/need the extra damage from Savagery to clear quickly, and you are moving around the map a lot from camp to camp, so Wanderer just accelerates your over all map movement speed.
  • Assasin 1/1 - You get this bonus when 1v1ing, cleaning up a kill on a target far away from a fight, and while ULTing from a distance to finish off a kill, and again just adds more damage
  • Merciless 5/5 - More damage to lower targets, where so much of Graves damage is burst this helps you finish off those you used and entire combo on.
  • Greenfather's Gift 1/1 - More damage on camps, more burst out of bush
  • Precision 5/5 - More damage
  • Thunderlord's Decree 1/1 - MORE DAMAGE

Skill Order

graveschargeshot.png > gravesqlinespell.png > gravesmove.png > gravessmokegrenade.png

gravespassive.png Passive

  • Graves has 2 auto attacks, then has to reload. The auto attacks fire in an AOE Cone, auto attacks stop at the first enemy hit.

gravesqlinespell.png End of the Line

  • Fire a projectile dealing damage to all targets hit, and then bounces back to where it was cast applying even more damage. Will return instantly if you hit a wall with it.

gravessmokegrenade.png Smoke Screen

  • Drops an Small AOE circle that slows, and all targets in side it can't see outside of the smoke screen

gravesmove.png Quickdraw

  • Dashes to target direction
  • Auto attacks reduce the cooldown of Quickdraw
  • Gain Armor and while attacking

graveschargeshot.png Collateral Damage

  • Fire a long range projectile, after first champion is hit by it, it does less damage to all other champions hit

Starting Items

1041.png2031.png3340.png

1041.png Hunter's Machete - increase graves clear speed since it adds extra damage to auto attacks against Jungle monsters.
2031.png Refillable Potion - Graves doesn't even have to use the Refillable Potion through his first clear if done correctly, and you get to keep Refillable Potion throughout the entire game, so every time you base you get to go back onto the map with 2 charges, obviously helping you stay more sustained than the enemy jungler after fights / ganks.
3340.png Warding Trinket - Great if you can get a ward placed on the enemy buff level 1

Core

1408.png or 1412.png

1408.png - Since you are constantly walking around the map being able to place wards lets you keep the map covered with vision.
1412.png - When you don't need Wards on the map throughout the game.

3006.png or 3111.png

3006.png - Early movement speed extra attack speed accelerates all that Graves want to do early, move around the map and clear camps

3111.png - When you don't have easy build path into 3006.png & the enemy team has a LOT of Crowd Control (CC)

3071.png

  • You want to get Black Cleaver 3rd pretty much every game

Build Path

1041.png > 2031.png 3340.png > 3006.png > 3133.png > 3711.png or 3715.png > 1412.png or 1408.png > 3044.png > 3067.png > 3071.png >  4th item

4th Items

what item you build after Warrior, Black Cleaver, and Boots will always change so here's why / when to buy them:

3046.png - Reduces damage of targets you are hitting, in combination with Grave's passive gravespassive.png, also gives you extra attack speed helps you against targets that you aren't going to be bursting and during longer fights.

3156.png - Obvious choice against a heavy Ability Power (AP) enemy team, extra CDR is nice as well.

3036.png - Graves will have a good amount of HP from 3071.png so you might not get full value out of the Giant Slayer Passive, but against targets with 2 or more Armor items but you will actually be able to daamge them late game.

3033.png - Helps against targets with 2 or more Armor items, and reduces healing effects to targets you damage (103.png36.png9.png41.png79.png420.png57.png82.png27.png16.png50.png48.png8.png19.png)

3053.png - Enables you to get tank more burst

3812.png - Lots of AD, and healing on AOE Abilities, better against ranged comps

3072.png - Lots of AD, and LOTs of Healing on auto attacks, better against melee champions.

  • graveschargeshot.png to where he is trying to jump khazixe.png to

VS

Lee Sin

Medium
  • Lee Sin has a high amount of burst with his full combo blindmonkrkick.pngblindmonkqone.pngblindmonkeone.png most likely kills you, until you get health items

VS

Warwick

Medium
  • Build 3123.png
  • gravesmove.png Left or Right to dodge Warwick's ULT warwickr.png
  • Warwick stays sustained in the Jungle, but clears slowly.

1st Clear Back to Top

Graves 1st clear 99% of the time will be a full clear, killing all camp. Graves can clear all camps on your side of the map while still being full HP. It will take practice to clear champs mechanically perfectly. If you are having trouble doing this take a look at this > Video <

While you are clearing in each camp, you need to quickly glance at your lanes either by using the Minimap, clicking the Minimap to hover over their lane, or using the F keys (F1,F2,F3,etc) to instantly hover over an ally's exact location, it is required as a Jungler to be keeping tabs on how the lanes are going, and to be looking for opportunities to gank.

Early Game Back to Top

Graves early game is mostly PVE, you walk around the map, farm camps, and watch lanes.

What any active moves you make which would be (Ganking, Invading, or Fighting the enemy Jungler) need to be done with all information of what is going on, on the entire map in mind.
If you spend to much time walking at enemy champions, while camps are up, you are wasting time.

If the enemy Jungler shows in an lane and you are on the opposite side of the map, look to steal some of his camps.

Mid Game Back to Top

Mid game you will be clearing camps and have a lot more free time and should be looking to:
  • Ganking
  • Warding
  • Setting up for a Pick
Ganks:
Mid game Ganks as Graves again don't have to result in kills, coming out of the fg of war to chunk an enemy is sitll very valuable.

Warding:
You have to have Trackers 1408.png and look to ward either your side of the map or the River. Unless you are really FAR HEAD YOU DON'T HAVE TO WALK ALL THE WAY INTO THE ENEMY JUNGLE TO GET A WARD.

Setting up for a Pick:

Get a Control Ward 2055.png & 3341.png sweeper and wait in a bush that you think the enemy will walk near / into in.

Continue to be watching the map a lot, and be ready to respond to fights when they happen.

Teamfighting Back to Top

Target Selection

Graves has a lot of good options of target selection during a fight, but you need to know who to use your burst on, and why. This will change every single game depending on gold leads, player skill, and champion picks, so don't look at this completely black and white.

But generally try to hit
  1. Carries (ADC/MID)
  2. Squishy Supports (Lulu,Soraka,Etc)
  3. Fighter Top Laners (Fiora,Camille,Etc)
  4. Closest Target

Playing around Cooldowns

Grave's Cooldowns are pretty long, so once cast they will be on cooldown for a while, so don't expect to cast them more than twice during a fight.
You also need to be playing around the enemy's important abilities cooldowns such as malzaharr.pngufslash.pngenchantedcrystalarrow.png

Kiting

When the enemy team has a numbers advantage it's probably a good idea to not run into all of them. Try to hold your dash gravesmove.png until it is necessary to use it. There is no reason to dash away from nothing, or to dash just to gain distance towards the enemy.

Late Game Back to Top

Until you are 6 items and level 18 you can still be farming. That being said most late games will look like both teams running it down the Mid lane and trying to engage on each other, if you are not there ping your team back, multiple times. If that isn't happening you should be looking to setup for a pick in a bush or somewhere in the fog of war. Try not to start objectives until multiple key members on the enemy team re dead as well.

  • Keep Farming
  • Don't get caught out away from your team
  • Be ready to respond to fights
  • After winning a fight look to take as many objectives as you can
  • Watch out for high burst AP Champions such as ( 60.png134.png55.png since the nerf to gravesmove.png unless you build a magic resist item, late game you will be very venerable to their burst if they are even close to fed.

Pros and Cons Back to Top

Pros

  • Out Farm and outpace almost every Jungler
  • Huge burst and damage as a Jungler
  • Easy to play but Hard to master
Cons
  • Forced Gank's usually won't result in kills, since Graves is better for clean up
  • If your team gets behind he doesn't have good ways with dealing with an enemy team pushing their lead
  • Requires good Mechanics
