Masteries Back to Top

The only difference between the two core mastery pages are if you prefer to run a point in 6332.png or 6331.png. Personally, I always run with  6331.png for increased damage and kill potential in early ganks.

6363.png is certainly the best choice mastery but if you wish to experiment and play "tank Ivern" you can also try 6262.png make choo choo noises and pretend to be a tank engine :)

Everything else, should be self-explanatory but any questions feel free to leave in the comments sections below!

ivernpassive.png allows Ivern to prepare camps by right-click on them, once the circle is completed he can either 11.png or right-click again to collect the gold and clear the camp.

Start ivernq.png for the double-tap or right-click wall hop mobility and CC escape at level 1. Note: If you right-click the target you have rooted you are guaranteed to fly to it... the double-tap Q often bugs out sadly.

Max iverne.png at every opportunity to increase the power of your shields, damage and slows.

You may wish to put a second point in ivernw.png earlier than level 14 if you find that you are using your AA's to helppush and rush objectives and provide reliable increased damage to your ganks.

Skill ivernr.png up as soon as yo ucan, she is not only bae but also your freelo booster :)

Core Items

Situational Items

Starting Items:

1039.png and 2031.png  no real options here :^)

First Recall:

1001.png1082.png or 3158.png,  2055.png These three items should be the priority of your purchases upon first recall.

Early-Mid Game Recalls:

Personal preference whether you choose to upgrade your boots to 3158.png or 3117.png, although I generally recommend 3158.png for the CDR and Smite Reduction. Then build into 3107.png , 3504.png or 3174.png,  these are your 3 core items are after boots but the order in which you buy these items should be considered situational based on the enemy team composition, your style of gameplay and macro strategy.

Core Build Explained:

Typically, I find that I buy 3107.png in most games first as this provides a global presence with the heal/true damage, additional health to survive 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 skirmishes in the early game and is particularly effective against enemy AD Junglers e.g. 121.png  107.png  64.png or  104.png. Alternatively, you should rush 3174.png versus heavy AP enemy teams 3+ or perhaps 2 if they have a fed mid laner or AP assassin jungler e.g. 60.png or 28.png. Finally, you want to build 3504.png when you want to play around your team's hyper-carry ADC or fed Top laner and you can build this before 3174.png in most cases where the enemy team only has 1 AP champion.

Post-Core Build

At this stage in the game you either want to be upgrading your 1082.png into a 3041.png and then purchase 3109.png to be able to support your team's carry. Depending on what your support builds you may also want to pick up a 3190.png at this stage in the game, otherwise if you do not take the 1082.png you could pick up a 3116.png or any other item you think fits your team comp.

Mid-Late Game Boots:

After you have completed the core build you will also find that you are over the CDR cap with 3158.png or that the effectiveness of 3117.png has decreased. When you have enough gold you should be looking to swap these out in the mid-late game for either 3047.png or 3111.png

No Jungle Upgrade Explained:

The reason behind not upgrading but selling your starting jungle item as Ivern is so that you rush your core build as soon as possible which gives him a massive power spike over enemy players and allows him to hard carry early-mid game team fights and win the game as fast as possible. The reason you see pro-players take 3711.png in the LCS is because this provides fantastic ward vision to help counter original jungle pathing in their games. The item build guide I have presented you I used in every one of my games and in my opinion is 100% the best for solo q ranked, the only time I may upgrade jungle item is if you want to play Ivern support or as jungler in Challenger elo. This guide is targeted for Master or lower ranked players :)

UPDATE Patch 7.17 - 3117.png are effectively better right now as it allows you to focus on heavy ganking playstyle. Jungle catch up experience reduces the power of 3158.png.

Rush 3504.png  after 3117.png, then built into 3107.png. Next 3190.png or 3174.png depending on source of AP damage followed by 3109.png. Finish build with any personal preference item such as that increases survivability e.g 3001.png 3194.png 3742.png 3116.png. Realistically, if you get to this late stage of the game then your chance of winning are much reduced and yo uare heavily reliant on your teammates or enemy to make a mistake. 1082.png is still a good option if you have nough gold at same time you purchase  3117.png but do not prioritise it before or on your second buy over 3504.png.

Game Strategy Back to Top

The key to playing Ivern in the jungle is to abuse his early game passive ability and 11.png to counter-jungle invade and steal enemy camps, and set up ganks using all of th CC in his kit. This puts both the enemy jungler 1-2 levels behind yourself and helps your laners win lane in the early game if carried out successfully.

Around, the 8 minute mark you want to start diving using Daisy typically in the most winning lane on your team to secure the first turret blood and then rotate to first drake if you haven't already taken it. If your top laner is running 12.png bot lane is typically the best lane to gank at this stage of the game.

At 12-15 minutes into the game you want to encourage your team to pick 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 skirmishes in the mid-lane and enemy jungle when Ivern is close to completing 2 of his core items after boots. At this stage Ivern has a huge power spike on many enemy junglers and can solo carry team fights even with losing laners through his busted OP shields and CC. After winning a teamfight and kill 2 or more of the enemy team you want to secure the Rift Herald if you haven't done so already and use it on any lane that you have access to a T2 turret to pressure the inhibitor turret.

From 20 minutes onawards if you are even or ahead you want to focus around rushing or baitaing team fights at Baron by removing the enemy vision and using your ivernw.pngto create a line without enemy vision and then find picks with ivernq.png,ivernr.png and iverne.png for your front line to follow up on. After securing Baron look to recall, group as a team and close out the game by running it down mid Tyler 2.0 beast mode.

Note: If you find your team or yourself are significantly behind look to turtle instead using all of Ivern's kit and activatables to peel for your team and defend turrets whilst they wave clear. Again, you can create brush lines under turrets to provide your teammates with safe places to hide where enemy champions have to throw blind skillshot abilities in hope of poking them. This approach will keep you in the game and give you a chance to win but to master Ivern you want to be executing the aggressive, pro-active strategy I outlined above to close out games in 30 mins or less as after 30 mins Ivern's effectiveness drops off massively.
