Summoner Spells Back to Top

Pretty easy guys nothing special.

4.png

Can be combo'd with your Q to close alot of distance on squishies. If you press Q on an opponent outside of your Q range, then flash towards them. The Q will go off instantly making it much faster.

14.png

Is really good for playing aggressive and being a monster in a late game split push. Can be used to cheese an opponent level 1 with you E.

12.png

Great for hard lanes where your probably not going to be able to kill your opponent. Helps you get kills elsewhere when a fight breaks out mid or bot.

Is also really good for saving your teammates when they are about to get ganked if you can scare them off with a TP and cancel it when they are safe or follow up to win a 2v2.

I don't like it as much as the more aggressive spells.

3.png

Very underrated on alot of toplaners I feel. Can completely shut down anyone who relies on getting in close and bursting you down. I always use this against Irelia as she will try to all in you post 6 with her R and this shuts it down.

It also lowers their Armor and MR by 10 for a few seconds essentially making them have no armor or MR runes for that time. Is good early for more damage and also late for when people start stacking armor.

Doesn't give you as much kill potential as ignite but is also really good for split pushing as it helps you 2v1.

Masteries Back to Top

This is what I like to run against a melee top lane I think I can kill.

Against a top laner I'd struggle against id probably go Feast over Double Edged Sword in the Ferocity tree.

Against a ranged top laner Id put 12 into resolve instead of cunning. Recovery / Tough Skin / Runic / Insight.

I preffer this than 12-18-0 because it gives you better trade potential at lvl 1 and is much better for teamfights IMO when you get max stats on fervor. It's also really nice with your ult making you really tanky and letting you stand and trade auto's with Fervor's max stacks.

Why I max E second

So this is a bit different to what most Jax's run I think. I used to max Q first or Second but I just love the extra cooldown on your E and it's a life saver in so many situations. It's really great in lanes where the enemy laner wants to gap close on you and trade alot because you can pop your E and not have to wait like 14 seconds for it to come up. At lvl 5 with 40% CD it's around a 5 second cooldown which is dope.

The only differences I usually make is at LVL 2 I might take Q first to jump on the enemy with E up and I'll usually max Q>W in a matchup against a ranged champion.

Notes:

- So obviously your W can be used to reset your auto attack. It can also be used whilst Leap Striking but I'll rarely ever do this unless I'm trying to execute a low health opponent or minion. When trading ideally (not in every situation) you want to hit them with an auto, then as soon as it hits press W and youll throw another auto out, really big burst post 6 if you use it with your Ult Passive 3rd hit.

- Try save Q until the enemy uses an escape or flash. Ill usually bait it by walking towards them, activating E when im relatively close and then Q'ing to them when they dash away. If you do this right, you will still get the stun. This makes you really really sticky with a triforce / gunblade passive.

- E can be used for just the stun but in alot of situations, turning it off early is a rookie mistake. In a teamfight, if you Q into the enemy team, activate E and R and start autoing the squishies, you will be really really tanky as you take 25% less Area of Effect damage along with dodging auto's and some on hit abilities. Knowing when and how to do this separates bad Jax players from good ones.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Most lanes, extra damage with health
if your new to Jax can be much more forgiving than blade or shield
is good against ranged but requires practice to get used to avoiding poke

Core Items

    Core item, must buy everygame
gives alot more sustain than botrk, damage is similar
I really like this combo buy after the damage items, Giants into whatever resistance you need then GA
    Quite strong in lane

Situational Items

Options for damage, I never get both blades
I like CDR but sometimes you need one of the others
    2 classic defense items
I've tried this as a 3rd item, its actually not that bad

Sorry this is not finished, I had it all written out and the LOLKING site crashed on me so I lost it all. I'll rewrite is asap.

Starting items:

1055.png This item is my usual go to, the damage and health is really nice. The lifesteal is pretty bad on its own but you can go get another one on your first back if you want to be more dominant in lane. Having 2 means you get about 6% lifesteal with the Vampire mastery which is great with a 2031.png.

1054.png Soaks up a ton of damage but is useless if you don't know how to play with it. Taking this means it's going to be really hard to trade with your opponent early as you'll do heaps less damage however it makes staying in lane against a harder matchup alot easier. You really can't take alot of poke with it alone however. I usually rush 2031.png and 3047.png if I'm against an AD ranged top (Jayce) so I can take less damage and also get in an out of the minions quicker, taking less poke.

2033.png I don't really buy this first, however I'm not opposed to buying it a bit later as the 3 pots every back is gold efficient and the extra true damage is pretty cool. Goes well with the other starting items.

VS

Akali

Medium
3.png4.png

I really like Exhaust in this matchup because of the pure burst Akali relies on and you can shut it down with a well timed Exhaust in lane.

2043.png This is 75 gold and makes one of her skills completely useless, carry one like always in lane.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Hard
14.png4.png or12.png4.png

It's actually a really tough matchup unless you get him early. Even then his cleavers deal way too much damage and you can't even trade with him because of the slow when it hits you.

You can either just farm or go hard early and try to get a gold lead on him. If you farm just dont die early and you should be fine. If you die he can dive you all game and ur gonna have a bad time.

VS

Ekko

Hard
12.png4.png

This lane / this champion SUCKS.

He has a
Ranged AOE Slow,
Stun,
Shield,
Dash,
A 3 hit slow that gives him a movement speed buff,
An ultimate that Heals, Repositions and does damage.

Thanks Rito for putting the ability's of about 3 champs into one kit.

Luckily not many people play him anymore with his nerfs.

Farm till 6 unless he makes a mistake and dashes in to a minion while your in range or something stupid like that. Don't get baited by his stun shield, don't stand where his ult will reposition to, don't let him kite you, etc etc etc.

VS

Elise

Hard
12.png4.png

You never see Elise top anymore and thank god, this lane was hell once upon a time.

Rush a 3155.png3111.png because she can poke you to hell and you can never trade back against her stun / repel.
