Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png You play League, so you know this is pretty much mandatory. :P
7.png Standard for marksmen.
21.png People really tend to underestimate the barrier, so it can be a real lifesaver.
1.png Can come in handy for CC heavy matchups. Annie used flash, ignite and a Tibbers stun? Cleanse and walk away.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

14.png If you like being aggressive up close. This can be good for a flash > AA > ignite > Q > AA combo.
6.png Jhin can be slow, but with his movement speed boost on crits this is probably not worth.

Masteries Back to Top

Why Oppressor over Bounty Hunter?

jhinR.png and jhinE.png both apply slows to their victims, whilst jhinW.png has the ability to root. The fact that you have three opportunities to apply the 2.5% increased damage from Oppressor seems too good to pass up.

Why Sorcery over Fury?

Fury gives you increased attack speed that'll be converted to extra AD by Jhin's passive.

Sorcery on the other hand will increase the damage of all of your abilities by a maximum of 2%. There is a common misconception, that "ability damage" refers to AP - that's not the case! Ability damage refers to the damage your QWER abilities do.

Deathfire Touch over Warlord's Bloodlust?

Jhin reaches high levels of AD, especially because of his passive. Deathfire Touch is therefore amazing with him, and provides a lot of poke damage - Jhin is the only champion where you can see Deathfire Touch at work! Sometimes your victim will burn their flash, only to fall to Deathfire Touch. Pretty good for you. :P

The reworked Warlord's Bloodlust (6.4) is an improvement. However, considering Jhin's reload time and attack speed, I feel Deathfire is still the better choice.

jhinW.png Root anyone who has been damaged by you or an ally within the last 4 seconds and gives you a movement speed boost (as if you'd just had a critical strike). Alternatively, just damages in a long range line. You could max this second for a longer root duration, but your lotus traps deal more damage per level. Your choice based on what feels right for the game you're in!

jhinE.png Better than Teemo's traps, but harder to apply damage with (worth it though). Try to use these whenever they're off cooldown for vision. If an enemy walks on them, snare them whilst they're over the area so they definitely get damaged. If you can toss in a few of these during a team fight without the enemy team noticing you could probably get a pentakill. :D

jhinR.png Pretty fantastic. Use it to catch runaways, poke to fend off turret pushes, or at the start of a team fight.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Doran's Blade for the standard marksman start.
    Never forget

Core Items

Essence Reaver should be your first item, for that sweet mana restore passive. Its other stats give you a nice power boost too. An alternative to Essence Reaver is Manamune - check Riot Scarizard's play history. :P
Phantom Dancer should be your second item because it has a similar colour to Essence Reaver (but really because apart from its base stats it has two great passives for Jhin).
Up to you. I would go for Infinity Edge as standard. However, there are some situations where the waveclear could come in handy!
So people will be astounded by your inability to die.
Armour penetration! Choose between the two depending on whether you need Grievous Wounds or not.
    Final Build example

Situational Items

Need MR? Maw of Malmortius is incredible, and its shield gets stronger the more MR you build.
Need Armour? Iceborn Gauntlet works surprisingly well and helps with waveclear and tower destruction.
Swifties by default! Berserker's Greaves if you don't need the defence, and feel like you don't need speed.
If the game is going on for so long that you want to get rid of your boots, try out Runaan's Hurricane.
Armor pen, and the active gives you movement speed and 40% attack speed (which gets converted to AD by your passive).
If you're against a heavy CC team.
3026.png
Now a viable choice for a final item. Builds out of chain vest, and is good against Zed (now that QSS only works on CC).

VS

Annie

Easy

Watch out for her all-in combo. Otherwise you should be able to poke her to death. Consider taking 21.png or 1.png.

VS

Brand

Medium

Make sure to doge his brandfissure.png and brandblaze.png . Try and farm from afar and poke whenever you can. Probably worth rushing a Maw of Malmortius.

Damage over time is harsh on Jhin. :D

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy

You can safely destroy his turrets without even being in range of them! Set your traps down and watch out for ganks.

VS

Lux

Hard

Dodge those Qs, try and work around those annoying Es. 3156.png can help you survive her snare + ult combo. Lux is in a pretty strong place at the moment, so if you get caught by her Q you're probably toast.

VS

Malzahar

Medium

The call of the void.... the malefic visions...... the nether grasp.  Pretty much work on avoiding everything and farming from afar. Wait for the laning phase to be over.

Damage over time is harsh on Jhin. :D

VS

Riven

Easy

User your movement speed boost to get out of range for her all-in. You out-range her so much this should be an easy lane. Try to use your Q so it bounces on to her, or use your Q directly on her for the Deathfire damage.

VS

Teemo

Hard

You outrange him, but his poison can wear you down pretty quickly, especially early. If he times his Q properly, he could blind your fourth shot, which is pretty harsh.

Damage over time is harsh on Jhin. :D

Change History Back to Top

6.9

MERCURIAL SCIMITAR: QSS was changed so it now only removes crowd control effects. No more removing Trundle / Fiora / Zed ultimates. As a result this item is now situational rather than core.

6.4

RUNE PAGE: Having had the opportunity to play Jhin for two patches now, I prefer the AD and life steal rune page as opposed to the crit page. Having said that, the original rune page is still viable if you are looking for early cooldown reduction, so it has been moved to the alternative rune page section!

GHOSTBLADE: Ghostblade added to situational section as it brings in armour penetration and a useful active.

MANAMUNE: Yes for real. Think about it - Jhin uses his abilities a lot, and gets to insane AD levels. With it's minor rework, Muramana gives added AD damage to basic attacks on champions automatically! Added to the situational section.

6.3

3094.png  Rapid Firecannon

Bonus movement speed reduced to 5% from 7%, and max bonus damage reduced to 150 from 200. In light of this, I recommend taking Infinity Edge instead of RFC.
