Summoner Spells Back to Top

Karma doesn't have that much damage output or "burst" compared to other Champions middle, but still has reasonable amount of burst with her Q; so ignite is pretty useful for finishing the opponent off.

7.png - If you want to be annoying as heck!

You can substitute having 21.png if you're against a burst champion, and with that barrier plus your own shield so you can out-sustain the opponent. Mostly for AD Bruisers (91_icon_64.png80_icon_64.png64_icon_64.png121_icon_64.png238_64.png) or burst champs (7_64.png134_64.png45_64.png)

12.png - Good for counter-ganks since Karma can be played as a good support, the shield can help a lot in team fights and counter-ganks when you teleport in, especially if they have a 4_icon_64.png.

Masteries Back to Top

Masteries are mostly based on personal preference, but this is the route I've decided on for Syndra.

Double-Edged Sword - This is really up to you, You'll do more damage but just be careful since you'll take more also. It's really is a risk factor for Karma but the choice is up to you, I usually take it.

The rest is usually what are recommended for an AP page, you can consider taking Butcher into Feast if you need the health/mana back from creep kills and easy csing!

Leveling Karma abilities really depends on the situation and what is presented to you at the start of every game.

Also know that her Ultimate doesn't need to be leveled, so that means you'll have higher ranks in your Q,W,E spells which makes you pretty strong mid game.

(Keep in mind leveling ranks in Mantra will scale ALL of the mantra improved spells).

Inner_Flame.jpg   Inner Flame - ACTIVE: Karma fires a ball of energy that detonates on hitting an enemy, damaging and slowing surrounding enemies by 25% for 1.5 seconds.

MAGIC DAMAGE: 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260 (+60% AP)
COOLDOWN: 7 / 6.5 / 6 / 5.5 / 5
COST: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 mana
RANGE: 950

Soulflare.jpg  Soul Flare MANTRA BONUS: Inner Flame deals bonus magic damage and leaves an Area of Effect that slows enemies inside by 50%. After 1.5 seconds the area detonates, damaging enemies inside. If Inner Flame does not strike a target, the area is created at maximum range.

BONUS MAGIC DAMAGE: 25 / 75 / 125 / 175 (+30% AP)
DETONATION MAGIC DAMAGE: 50 / 150 / 250 / 350 (+60% AP)

** This is basically your cheese spell, to poke the opponent down and potentially combo to secure a kill. Even though it only has a .6% AP Ratio it still does pretty good damage, slows, and has a pretty low cool down with a decent spell range. Using it with the improved mantra bonus makes this spell actually do A LOT of damage, especially since it's a small Area of Effect spell.**

Focused_Resolve.jpg  Focused Resolve - ACTIVE: Karma forms a ranged tether to target enemy champion, revealing and damaging the target over 2 seconds at 0.33-second intervals. If the tether is not broken after the 2 seconds, the target is rooted.

MAGIC DAMAGE: 60 / 110 / 160 / 210 / 260 (+60% AP)
ROOT DURATION: 1 / 1.25 / 1.5 / 1.75 / 2
COOLDOWN: 16 / 15.5 / 15 / 14.5 / 14
COST: 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 mana

Renewal.jpg  Renewal - MANTRA BONUS: Focused Resolve deals bonus damage and heals Karma for a percentage of her missing health over the 2 seconds.

BONUS MAGIC DAMAGE: 75 / 150 / 225 / 300 (+60% AP)
TOTAL HEAL: 25% of missing health (+1% per 100 AP)

**This spell is REALLY good for early ganks and/or for picking someone off. You can potentially snowball if you use your tether at the right times, PLUS it does damage like fiddle's drain, especially with the mantra bonus you can even leech off health from the enemy champion, 25% of missing health is A LOT.**

Inspire.jpg  Inspire - ACTIVE: Karma shields target ally for 4 seconds and grants the target bonus movement speed for 1.25 seconds.

SHIELD: 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+50% AP)
MOVEMENT SPEED: 20% / 30% / 40% / 50% / 60%
RANGE: 800
COOLDOWN: 12
COST: 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 mana

Defiance.jpg  Defiance MANTRA BONUS: Inspire's shield is increased by a bonus amount. Defiance grants this bonus shield and Inspire's bonus movement speed to other allied champions within range of the target while damaging enemies in the same area.

BONUS SHIELD/SHIELD AURA: 30 / 70 / 110 / 150 (+30% AP)
MAGIC DAMAGE: 60 / 140 / 220 / 300 (+60% AP)

**This shield basically gives you a free shurelya's for initiate into a teamfight, plus it helps soaking damage if you're getting constantly harassed. PLUS with the mantra bonus it can do AOE damage to nearby enemies while applying your shield spell to nearby ally champions; really good for teamfights since the speed boost and shield is really nice.**

Mantra.jpg   -  ACTIVE: Karma empowers her next ability cast within the next 8 seconds, adding an additional effect. Empowered abilities use the same cooldown as their basic form.
Karma begins with one rank in Mantra and can increase it at levels 6, 11, and 16.

Ranks in Mantra improve the additional effects of empowered abilities.
COOLDOWN: 45

**The spell that makes Karma... Karma. Mantra improved spells are actually really good and useful and can separate a good Karma from a bad Karma. Using the right Mantra effect spell at the right times can really change the tide of a trade or a teamfight. Yes, the cool down is pretty long since it IS replacing an Ultimate spell but it's really good if used right.**

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    dodging skillshots
I just wanna play AP why go AD :(
    Normal start

Core Items

can finish going athenes and building onto deathcap
    damage oriented route
    tank oriented route
Echo is good on Karma since her Q cool is long enough to gain charges and use this item proc as much as possible.
Probably a must have now for ghosties! Good early!
snowball like crazy if you know how to survive while getting assists from all your spells
New item that is really powerful, helps with engages and gets to closer to use your spells and make sure they get snared from your W or force them to flash out of it.
Good early game to build into one of the core items, good for laning as well for the mana upkeep.

Situational Items

    chrispy's route
    situational items
Since Athene's got kinda nerf some people are going double morello's. It has good base stats but completely situational!
Decent because of Karma's consistent poke, good for some situations if you have a poke comp, etc.

*Keep in mind that many items are flexible with Karma, you can experiment and find your own playstyle and items that make you do better with Karma.*

Situational Items

3001_32.png - If you're getting harassed by magic damage, and or you need to get close to the enemy team if they're mostly AP oriented!!

3135_32.png - If they build a lot of Magic Resist, progressing into Late Game.

1029_32.png -> 3191_32.png - Obviously if you're facing an AD Mid, you'll start Cloth 5, and progress into getting an early seekers for better sustain then building up to your core items.

3100_32.png - Some people like this because you can spam your Q easily to proc the item and then auto attack for damage, it's pretty nice in some situations if your snowballing; but this will come to your own preference.

===================================================================

Normal Route

Starting: Depending on the situation and who you're up against, either ALWAYS start 1056.png2003.png2003.png if you need to dodge skillshots, 2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png if you need to out sustain the enemy, if you're rushing to 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png you can start  1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png.

If against AD Mid: 1029_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png

First Buy Back: 3028_32.png (Magic Resist for defense, Mana Regen, a good starting item against AP mids), or get 3191_32.png if against AD mids.

MOST people nowadays focus on getting 3092.png which is a very good item, so probably get that first. Chalice is an alternative but frost queens is great early game.

Middle Game: 3020_32.png3174_32.png1058_32.png (You'll probably Rush Athene's early, and save up for a Deathcap, make sure to position yourself correctly since you have no escapes. If you're having trouble and keep getting harassed by the AP champion and/or taking too much damage you can get 3001_32.png.)

Core: 3020_32.png3174_32.png3089_32.png By this time it will probably be middle game progressing into late game. Your damage AP Carry wise should still be on par with other carries given the recent changes to Karma.

Final: 3020_32.png3174_32.png3089_32.png3092.png3135_32.png3157_32.png

Summary: Athene's help with using your Mantra more, Deathcap for higher burst, Rylai's for a bigger health pool and even more slows on your spells, Void staff to progress into late game and Zhonyas if you want to bait in teamfights.

Situational: If you keep on getting focused in teamfights and/or need some tankiness you can get a 3027_32.png, just make sure to rush RoA as your first item if you need it. 3001_32.png is pretty good on Karma since you'll mostly be pretty close to the champion when you use your combos on them.

Chrispy's Route

**Keep noted that I'm using CDR runes/masteries, so I start the game with 20% CDR**

I personally like to go 2039_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png if I feel like I won't really have any mana issues and want the extra harass from having an Elixir, if I need to just play safe and poke i'll go the Faerie Charm start.

First Buy Back: 3070_32.png1001_32.png so you can start stacking your tear right away. Buy extra 2044_32.png2003_32.png if you need them.

Second Buy Back: 3108_32.png I usually get this to start building into Athene's. You can also get 1056_32.png if you have the extra gold and then start building into 3028_32.png to finish your Athene's.

Middle Game: 3020_32.png3003_32.png3174_32.png - By this time you'll be finished with your archangels, and if you spammed enough you'll have the upgraded seraph's while finishing your Athene's. Once you finished Athene's you'll have the max cap of 40% CDR, so you can spam longer while having Seraph's give you additional Ability Power and an extra barrier including your own shield.

Core: 3020_32.png3003_32.png3174_32.png3089_32.png By this time it will probably be middle game progressing into late game. Karma is pretty strong early and middle game so use that to your advantage. You can get 3116_32.png instead of deathcap if you feel like you'll die more in teamfights, then get deathcap after.

Final: 3020_32.png3174_32.png3089_32.png3003_32.png3135_32.png3157_32.png

Summary: Athene's help with using your Mantra more, Deathcap for higher burst, Archangels (Seraph's) for the added barrier and +120 AP since you maxed your tear, Void staff to progress into late game and Zhonyas if you want to bait in teamfights. You will have 40% CDR combined with Athenes + your CDR masteries. Just know this is Basically Glass Cannon AP Karma, you'll need good positioning in team fights as well as helping your team mates in order to outplay and win against your opposition.

VS

Ahri

Medium

Start 1001_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png if you want to be more confident in dodging her skill shots and give free harass to her. Or just start  2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png  so you can out-sustain her.

For 103_64.png all you really need to do is dodge her charms and Orb of Deception (Q). Once she missed and it's on cooldown quickly go in with your shield Inspire Small.png and use a few auto attacks on her to win some trades. When you're level 2-3 you can do the same thing but also do Focused Resolve Small.png and then land an easy Inner Flame Small.png for a typical combo from Karma.

Once you are level 5 this is a good time to roam around and help other lanes since Karma already has her Ultimate. Her snare and slow are excellent CC tools and can help you snowball other lanes for them!

In teamfights you're mostly trying to peel people off of the carries, shielding people that needs it, all while harassing and dealing your own damage as an AP carry in the back line with your spells. Know which mantra improved skill is good during certain situations and you'll win most team fights.

VS

Akali

Medium
Start  2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png so you can keep healing up if she spams her Q on you. Or   1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png if you're going for an early 3028_32.png or 3070_32.png

Karma is strong levels 1-6, Akali is weak 1-6, so use that to your advantage. Always use your Inspire Small.png and go in and harass her whenever she tries to go for a creep. Once you're level 2-3 you can do this easier with more damage from your other spells. PLUS you have your ultimate so you can deny her for a lot of damage if she tries to take more creeps, this will force her to play safe.

Early jungle ganks are good for akali as well, follow up with Inspire Small.png and Focused Resolve Small.png to make it easier for the jungler to gank and force her 4.png or even kill her.

Once 84_64.png she will instantly become more aggressive so try to Inspire Small.png whenever she tries to do small bursts to you. Try to push your lane and roam around Level 5 to help other lanes.

In teamfights she will usually go for you or the carry, try to Focused Resolve Small.png and snare akali and peel her off of your carry or yourself, at the same time doing damage and helping your other teammates.

VS

Anivia

Medium

Start 1001_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png if you're not that confident in dodging her ice balls, 2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png if you need to out sustain the enemy, if you're rushing to 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png you can start  1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png.

When you avoid her ice ball, that cooldown gap would be the best time to use your Inspire Small.png and do some small harass towards her. Your typical combo would be Inspire Small.png into Focused Resolve Small.png and then use Mantra and Inner Flame Small.png for bonus damage. She will be forced to play pretty passive. Make sure to roam around once you push your lane or if she buys back.

If you don't dodge her ice balls then you'll probably take a lot of damage, when 34_64.png is 6 it will be hard to get close to her since she can use ultimate and quickly frostbite you, but just try to move around and just spam your spells at her.

In teamfights she will mostly stay in the back and poke your team down, you can use your Mantra Inspire Small.png for a hard initiate to try to take down Anivia before she can do any damage, as well as help peeling your team and using your spells.

VS

Annie

Medium

Start 2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png if you need to out sustain the enemy, if you're rushing to 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png you can start  1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png.

For 1_64.png you'll have to be more aggressive to her than she is to you. Since you already have your Ultimate you can do a lot of damage early game as Karma. Karma can set up really good early jungle ganks too with her snare.

Make sure to roam around level 4-5 and help other lanes. When 1_64.png is 6 be careful of her stun + tibbers burst, even with your shield it can kill you so just try to outplay around that, it's the only thing that makes Annie dangerous.

In teamfights she will potentially try to tibbers or even flash tibbers and try to pick as many people as she can. You can try to Mantra + Inspire Small.png your team before that happens, and try to damage the enemy team down with your spells.

VS

Brand

Medium

Start 1001_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png if you need to dodge skillshots, 2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png if you need to out sustain the enemy, if you're rushing to 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png you can start  1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png.

Brand is almost basically like Annie, but has skill shots, so just make sure to dodge those skill shots and poke back with your Inspire Small.png + auto attacks, once you're level 2-3 you can use your other spells + mantra Inner Flame Small.png for really good harass. Make sure to roam around before Brand becomes 6! If you can poke him down he will be forced to play passive and the enemy jungler will try to come to gank you, so just be prepared for that.

In teamfights, he will try to use his combo + his Ultimate to try and damage as many people as possible, try to focus him down before he does that. Make sure you shield the right people getting damage and help peel for your teammates; and at the same time doing damage yourself since you picked Karma as an AP Mid, not support.

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium
1001_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png if you need to dodge skillshots, 2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png if you need to out sustain the enemy, if you're rushing to 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png you can start  1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png.

Cassiopeia is mostly a skill shot champ, so most of the laning phase you'll have to dodge her skill shots, when you dodge her skill shots you have a short time frame to harass her back with your Inspire Small.png + auto attacks or spells if you're level 2-3.

Cassiopeia can push her lane easily so if you can deny her and force her to play passive you can try to roam and help other lanes. 69_64.png weakness is ganks, so once you dodge her skill shots you can charge in and Focused Resolve Small.png snare her to make an easy jungle gank and force a 4.png.

In teamfights try not to face her or you'll become stone from her ultimate, still dodge her skill shots and help peel, shield, and do damage with your team. Knowing which mantra to use is really useful, as the Mantra cooldown is pretty high and you'll probably only have it once or rarely twice in a team fight.

VS

Cho'Gath

Cho'Gath is naturally very tanky, you'll have to constantly harass him because if you don't his passive will keep regaining his health back. So it's really good to go in with Inspire Small.png and using auto attacks against him. Early jungle ganks are really good against him too. Wait until he uses Rupture then go in and Focused Resolve Small.png to make it easier for your jungler to gank him and make him force a 4.png.

In team fight he will be pretty tanky and hard to tank down, just avoid his ruptures and don't get hit by his silence or you can't do anything and might die. Just try to help out your team with your spells, if you snowball then he will be pretty weak and you can probably kill him easily.

VS

Diana

Hard

Start 1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png or 2044_32.png2041_32.png2003_32.png.

Diana is weak at 6, you're not. Try to abuse with your auto attacks a lot since she is melee. Use your Mantra Q's for more damage. Try to roam around before she's 6.

Once Diana is 6, this lane will become a lot harder. Try to dodge her Q's while harassing her with yours, if she ever hits you with her Q, she will go all in and you'll probably lose 50% of your health and force you to play passive. Try to get early games before Diana hits 6 and put her behind as far as you can so you don't have that much of a hard time.

During team fights she will go either for you or the AD Carry or whoever is low, try to peel her off when she dashes to someone and shield them, as well as doing damage yourself.

VS

Fizz

Going against 105_64.png can be pretty difficult if he plays super aggressive and keeps going in after you and jumping away. If he does that to you try to follow him back and Focused Resolve Small.png snare with your shield and use your spells so you can try to and equal the trade out. Early jungle ganks will help a lot with Fizz also.

Try to roam around as you will not really be able to kill him since he can just jump away.

In team fights he will try to catch someone out of position or use his Ultimate to pick someone off and use his combo against them, try to peel and use your shield while dealing damage. Most of the time you will be in the back line trying to help everyone out and dealing damage when needed.

VS

Gragas

Medium

2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png if you need to out sustain the enemy, if you're rushing to 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png you can start  1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png.

Gragas has pretty good burst, your shield can absorb some of it but you'll still take a lot of damage from his barrels. Try to keep poking him down and have some early jungle ganks during early game.

Once Gragas is 6 he'll be more aggressive, if you're around 60% HP he will most likely throw his Ultimate and go in to try and kill you.

In team fights, Gragas will try to out positon your team and probably initiate with his Ultimate, try to stay spread out so everyone won't get hit by his Ultimate and try to focus him down.

VS

Kassadin

Medium

Start  2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png  so you can have a safe laning phase. Or start 1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png if you're progressing into a 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png.

As facing all Kassadins, they're weak pre-6. So have some early jungle ganks will help a lot since you can snare them easily with your Focused Resolve Small.png.

Once Kassadin is 6, you'll have a hard time with him since he can teleport and do his short burst and then leave and repeat. At that point the best thing would be to push your lane and try to roam around and help other lanes.

During team fights he will try to pick people off running away or out of position and attempt to kill them. Try to peel and shield that person getting hit and have your team try to focus him down.

VS

Katarina

Only thing that makes Katarina difficult is that she can easily juke and dodge around your only Poke (Q) so it will be kind of hard to hit her. Since is melee range the best thing to do is to harass with your Inspire Small.png + Auto Attacks and try to snare her to force her to run away, when she jumps on you shield and snare again and try to poke her with Mantra Q's. Try to push your lane and roam to other lanes.

Once Katarina is 6 she will try to be more aggressive and use her Ultimate on you, try to shield and snare and run away and just keep poking her down, early jungle ganks will help you a lot as well.

In team fights she will try to find a good position and use her Ultimate to do as much damage as possible and try to finish someone off so she can get her resets, try to focus her and snare + shield your team before she can get her resets off, or she will do a lot of damage.

VS

Kayle

Hard

Start  2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png if you need to out sustain the enemy, if you're rushing to 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png you can start  1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png.

10_64.png's Q+E+Auto Attack is pretty annoying for Karma and can chunk her down pretty easily, if you go in after Kayle you'll most likely lose the trades. So you'll have to rely on your jungler for early ganks. Run up to her and Focused Resolve Small.png to set up an easy gank and force a 4.png.

Since you can't beat her try to roam around and help other lanes around Level 4-5. Once 10_64.png is 6 you definitely can't beat her since she now has her Ultimate.

In team fights 10_64.png will try to use her Ultimate on anyone that is low, so when you see it try to focus another target until the Ultimate wears off. You'll mostly have to peel and deal damage from the backline.

VS

Kha'Zix

Hard

Start 1029_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png.

What makes 121_64.png is that he can just jump on you and burst and run away, since you have no escapes it can be pretty annoying. Try to harass him early because all he will really have is his void spikes. So Inspire Small.png + Auto Attacks for harass. Since he is melee try to punch him every time he tries to go in a cs. Early jungle ganks would be the best choice also since you can just snare him and lead in for a good gank to force a 4.png.

Try to push your lane and roam around to help your other lanes. Once Kha'Zix is 6 he will be more aggressive, and will probably evolve his W first (Void Spikes).

In team fights he will try to pick someone off, try to help peel for them. Consider rushing a 3191_32.png so you don't get destroyed that easily.

VS

LeBlanc

7_64.png can just burst you and run away which makes this matchup pretty hard. Try to harass her early game with your shield + spells. Early jungle ganks would be good but she can just jump away so you'll mostly have to roam around and help other lanes when you're around level 5. Consider rushing 3028_32.png and even get 1057_32.png and build up to a 3001_32.png to negate most of her burst.

Try to outpush her to her tower since Leblanc is weak at farming.

Once 7_64.png is 6 she will do A LOT more burst to you, so be careful of that. In team fights try to catch her off guard and force her to run away from the right and then focus on someone else.

VS

Lux

For 99_64.png she's mostly a skill shot oriented champ so you can just avoid and come running back in and harass and do your combos. Once she uses her snare you can go in and Focused Resolve Small.png to snare and set up a easy gank for your jungler once he's ready to gank your lane. Make sure to roam around and help your lanes also.

Once Lux is level 6 she'll spam her Ultimate at you whenever she snares you or to clear her wave so she can roam, so just be careful for that. In team fights try to peel your team and shield the person initiating on the enemy; as well as using your spells to deal damage.

VS

Master Yi

Hard

Start  2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png  so you can have a more safe lane. Or you can start 1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png if you're going to build 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png.

Master Yi is only hard because when you try to poke back as Karma he can just heal all the damage you done, then just alpha strike and clear waves. Only way you'll have a higher advantage against him are by early jungle ganks. Since you won't be able to kill him try to push your lane and roam around and help other lanes.

In team fights he'll try to save his Alpha Strike until someone is low so he can get the reset, try to finish him off or force him to use heal and switch to someone else.

VS

Morgana

Morgana is mostly annoying just because she can pool and clear waves really easy to go roam and help other lanes. When you dodge her snare try to go in and keep harassing her with your Inspire Small.png + auto attacks to make her not roam so much; try to keep her in lane. You can also roam yourself when she goes back to buy or you cleared your wave before her.

In team fights she will try to go in and use her Ultimate on everyone and disrupt their movement, try to peel for your team and shield while doing damage. If your whole team is taking poke or you want to initiate you can use Mantra + Shield for the extra speed boost and barrier, if you want to burn someone down then Mantra + Inner Flame (Q) for more damage.

VS

Orianna

Orianna is only annoying because of her ball as she can keep it there and constantly harass you, especially if she has blue buff and CDR items. Make sure to outplay around that while harassing her back so you can win trades. Try to get an early jungle gank and Focused Resolve Small.png snare her to force a 4.png or secure a kill.

In team fights, be aware of where Orianna's ball is, so she doesn't cast her Ultimate and everyone get's caught in it. Try to help your team while dealing damage to everyone else.

VS

Pantheon

Medium

Start 1029_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png.

Hard thing about Pantheon is that he will always try to run up to you and throw a spear at you until you're low, then go in and try to secure a kill. Plus when you try to harass his shield will always block your first auto attack then he will just trade back, resulting in you doing nothing to him and him winning the trade.

Try to get early jungle ganks and set up your snare to attempt him to force a 4.png then come back and try to kill him. Before Pantheon reaches 6 try to roam around and help other lanes.

In team fights he will try to burst down the carry or whoever he can get close to that's going to probably die, so try to shield and help peel and get him out of range from your team mates.

VS

Ryze

At early levels 13_64.png won't be that difficult for Karma since she can just go in and Inspire Small.png and harass with auto attacks, Ryze's Q will probably only do as much damage as the shield gives so you won't get hurt that much. Early jungle ganks will be really good if you're against Ryze so try to set up your Focused Resolve Small.png snare for that.

Once Ryze get's a bit more items and has more mana it will be hard to go on him since he excels at someone getting up close to him so you won't win most of the trades if you don't play it right. Try to roam around before Ryze is 6.

In team fights, you can try to Shield + Mantra and have your team mates try to initiate on ryze or the carry, just try to peel your team while doing damage. Since Karma doesn't have the burst she's more of a sustain damage champion.

VS

Syndra

Hard
1001_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png if you need to dodge skillshots, 2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png if you need to out sustain the enemy, if you're rushing to 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png you can start  1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png.

The reason why 134_64.png is hard because she out ranges most of your spells so she can poke you down pretty easily, if she lands a stun on you, you'll get hit for tons of damage. When she uses her Q and misses, use that small time frame to go in and harass back. Early jungle ganks will help a lot against her too.

Once she's 6 her burst will most likely 100-0 you if you don't use your Inspire Small.png in time. Try to roam around before she's 6 and help your lanes in the mean time.

In team fights, 134_64.png main goal is to burst someone down to always make it a 4v5, try to initiate with Mantra + Shield and pick her off before she can pick someone else off.

VS

Talon

Hard

Start 1029_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png.

Talon is considered pretty hard for Karma because of his burst when he becomes 6. Try to harass him early game. All you'll really get damaged by is his Rake. Try to push your lane out and help roam other lanes.

Early jungle ganks will help against Talon too because he doesn't have no escapes, so you'll either burn his 4.png or secure a kill.

In team fights, Talon will try to burst someone down so you can try to help peel for the person if they didn't die yet, or just try to deal your damage against the enemy team. A 2043_32.png might help if your team gets him low and he is trying to use his Ultimate to escape.

VS

Twisted Fate

All you really have to do if you're facing against 4_64.png is to dodge his wild cards and try to go back in and harass him down early levels. The only annoying thing about him is his wave clear is much better than yours and once he's 6 he'll gank everywhere.

Try to roam around before he's 6 and help your lanes, what 4_64.png lacks is mobility so having early jungle ganks will help A LOT if you can go in and Focused Resolve Small.png and make an easy gank to make him force a 4.png or kill him. You can take 12.png if you want to counter-gank his ultimate.

In team fights he'll mostly be in the back throwing wild cards and trying to stun someone that's out of position, just try to peel for your team and deal damage back to the enemy.

VS

Veigar

Hard

Start 2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png if you need to out sustain the enemy, if you're rushing to 3070_32.png or 3028_32.png you can start  1004_32.png2044_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png2004_32.png.

45_64.png can be pretty difficult for Karma. His stun cage will usually hit you if you try to go in for veigar, and he can just use his combo on you and run away. Early jungle ganks can really help you out if you can manage to juke around his cage and Focused Resolve Small.png him for your jungler. Consider getting a 3111_32.png so you can get out of his stun faster.

Try to roam around before Veigar is level 6, once he is 6 he can probably burst you down.

In team fights try not to get stuck in his cage, he will try to pick someone off with his cage so just try to peel then go back and do damage.

VS

Zed

Hard

Start 1029_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png

For Zed it's pretty difficult because she can shadow and jump right next to you and deal damage to you, or just use his shadow and try to hit you with his 2 shurikens. Try to avoid those and go right back in and harass with your Inspire Small.png + auto attacks since he is melee range. Try to deny him whenever he tries to go in for cs, then he'll play passive and just last hit with his spells. Early jungle ganks will help you a lot in this lane as well. Try to roam around if you can't seem to kill him.

In team fights he'll try to jump on the carries and ult them to take them down, try to help peel your carry and at the same time dealing damage to whoever's the main priority, just make sure to know which mantra is right for that situation.

Gameplay Back to Top

Early Game

Karma's Early Game is actually pretty powerful since you already have your Ultimate at Level 1 (Mantra). Use that small advantage to try and harass your opponent during laning phase, as well as building the right items/runes/masteries depending on your matchup. Keep in mind that Karma is 'decent' AP ratios, around 0.6 disregarding mantra abilities, which is still some decent damage.

Typical Combo to harass your opponent at Level 1-3 would be to Inspire Small.png and go in on the enemy and use Focused Resolve Small.png to use your tether on the enemy for some damage, keep it linked so they can get snared and then you can land an easy Inner Flame Small.png with the improved Mantra Small.png effect on it, which is basically your only burst you can do as Karma. Using Inner Flame with improved Mantra is actually a lot of damage if they also get hit by the delay burst from the spell.

Also using Mantra%20Small.pngFocused%20Resolve%20Small.png can be a good way to bait someone if they want to dive you under tower since it can heal Karma from 25% of her missing health, or even just to gain some health back while harassing your opponent.

Early ganks from your jungler would make your lane easier to deal with also. Using Focused Resolve Small.png on the enemy and snaring them when your jungler comes to gank will set an easy gank path for your jungler, and can possibly force the enemy to use a 4.png or even kill them to help you snowball your lane.

Around Levels 4-5 you can try to roam around to either Top and Bottom to help secure some kills and help your lane out; only because Karma's slow from her Q and her snare from W are really good CC skills to help other lanes with. Depending on the matchup once the enemy is 6 it would be a lot harder to kill them, but if you're ahead you should be fine as long as you can outplay.

===================================================================

Middle Game

Karma's middle game is pretty decent also. This would be the time where most of the matches will consist in team fights or picking someone off. During team fights you should try to peel anyone that's on your carry or they're about to die, at the same time shielding anyone that's taking damage who needs to live in order for you to win the fight all while trying to damage them yourself with your short bursts from Q and improved Mantra Q's.

If your team wants to initiate on someone Karma basically has a free Shurelya's with her Mantra Small.pngInspire Small.png all while shielding your allies also to negate some damage.

===================================================================

Late Game

Keep in mind that Karma is not one of those champs that can "close" a game comparing to others, if you progress up to middle/late game you will have to somewhat rely on your team mates to win, she isn't as snowball as other champs where you can carry the team on your back. So if you wanted a champ that can pubstomp solo quene or what not, there's champions like 84_64.png4_64.png55_64.png38_64.png and more that can do the job better.

Karma is still pretty decent late game, but this is probably when everyone is close to being done with their builds, so everyone would be pretty much equal in terms of items, since other mid champs have more damage you will kind of fall off and would basically be the support of your team while doing some decent burst.

Same rules will apply as middle game, in team fights you'll still have to be careful and have good positioning while shielding, peeling, and doing damage at the same time. If you're out of position you'll probably die due to Karma having no escapes besides her snare and slow if you can land them.

Synergy with Karma Back to Top

Junglers who can Synergize with Karma

Most of these junglers are good for early ganks with Karma, in attempt to help her snowball her lane and roam around since her snare is really good for setting up ganks.

56_64.png57_64.png64_64.png33_64.png77_64.png35_64.png106_64.png113_64.png111_64.png254_64.png154_64.png120_64.png75_64.png59_64.png32_64.png5_64.png

Besides Junglers, most champions can be good with Karma, since Karma can do a little bit of everything (Shield, Peel, Snare, Slow, Small Burst). She's basically Jack of all Trades, master of none. So she will need to rely on her team to ensure her the Victory. If you wanted a champion that can pub-stomp games, Karma isn't one of those.

I started to really enjoy the game and began to rank when Season 2 almost ended.

I was 2159 when Season 2 ended with Platinum in Solo Que, 3v3s, and 5v5s (Didn't have much time at all to go for Diamond) :(

I main AP middle, also love to play AD Carry. Decent at Support/Top, Horrible at Jungle (Expect me to feed!).
