Summoner Spells Back to Top

11.png and 4.png are all what you need. Some people recommend to use 3.png instead of 4.png for a better gank potential, which I don't agree at all as it removes one of your best escapes. Likewise you should max Q instead of W for more damage. Then, because your W won't be strong enough to slow the enemies properly, 3.png may become completely useless. Still, if you know what you're doing, you can use it. That's your choice.

Starting and maxing W is now recommended if you want to be able to poke anyone in early game. This may prevent you from getting Counter-Jungled and allows you to deal more damage when you gank. Also, it helps you to sustain in your jungle due to the health it grants and enables you to slow the enemy laners while you're ganking.

Evolve W first if you want to be able to deal tremendous damages whenever you're poking enemies and Q if you want to increase your assassination potential. Then, at level 11, always evolve your E to improve your escape/ganking potential. You can either evolve R at level 16 as it makes you much tankier and helps you to survive in teamfights or Q/W in order to get some more damage input.

When your E is evolved and you get hydra, you can begin doing some plays because of your resets on your leap. In a teamfight for instance, you just have to spot the easiest target to kill (often the lowest HP one) and make sure to one-shot it with the combo E-3074_32.png-Q. After that, as your leap is still available, you can use it either to jump on another target or simply use it to get out of the fight.

Let's face it. Kha'Zix is no longer the God Tier Jungler he used to be. Consequently, he requires way more skill than he used to. If you feel very confident about your mechanics with Kha, I recommend maxing Q first but if you're not really used to play him or you're against high elo players, it would perhaps be a better idea to max W instead. It enables you to poke enemies from a distance more effectively and grants you a better slow while you're ganking.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Always start with a machette and five potions.
Always buy Tiamat first when you're working on your Hydra. You need it for the active.

Core Items

In order (Core) : Spirit > Brutalizer > Tiamat > Last Whisper
Choose Mercury's Treads if they have a lot of CC or AP and Ninja Tabi if they only have strong AD.
    Example of a full build
You can sell your lizard as well as your boots as soon as you get your full build and replace them with Zephyr and another tank item

Situational Items

It's always a good idea to sell your Spirit of The Elder Lizard at the end for a Randuin's Omen or another tanky item.
Get this item if you always get stunned.
*NEVER BUILD THIS ITEM ON KHA* I've noticed that a lot of players build this item on any champion everytime they feel like they need tankiness while it isn't even cost efficient anymore. Randuin is a much better option for building tankiness on Kha'Zix.
Right after you've built your Lizard, you must choose between one of those two items. Take Hexdrinker vs strong Magic damage and Brutalizer whenever you aren't sure.

On your first back, you should at least get Spirit Stone and one long sword. This gives you a faster jungle clear and a better kill potential because of the long sword. As soon as you get your Spirit of The Elder Lizard, you want to farm like crazy, and don't be afraid to rush dragon at around 12-15 minutes. Right after, the item you want to work on is your Ravaneous Hydra, more specifically, your Tiamat first as it allows you to get more damage when you activate it in your jungle. (AA-W-Tiamat-Q)

Make sure to buy your Boots 1 before getting Tiamat.

When you get Hydra, you want to do the same thing than with the Tiamat but more agressively. At this point, if you're doing quite well with your farm, you can nearly one-shot anyone with the combo E-Hydra-Q.

To keep snowballing, you should now get Boots 2 for a greater mobility and work on your Last Whisper. As a matter of fact, you have to get LW right after your tiamat, even before getting Hydra. Also, you can buy a Brutalizer right after your Tiamat.

In late game, you should get tank items instead of AD items unless you're so fed that you know it's nearly impossible for you to throw the game. As an assassin, chances are you will get killed easily late game in case you make a stupid mistake so GA is a good item to avoid throwing.

Amumu

VS

Gragas

Whether he is mid or jungler, you outdamage him pretty easily but never overextend.

VS

Jax

Medium

VS

Lee Sin

Hard

Your ultimate won't be very helpful against him. He can destroy you whenever it suits him to do so. You must remain alert as well as to always know where he is located on the map to prevent him from counter jungling you or to gank your lanes.

VS

Master Yi

Easy

VS

Nasus

Easy

You should outdamage him as long as you don't let him stack too much throughout the game.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

Really annoying matchup. Try to avoid most of his cc and his spears.

VS

Rengar

Medium

Killing Rengar after level 16 will give you a fourth evolution. I guess it compensates the fact that Rengar is very strong against Kha.

VS

Shyvana

Hard

If you let her stack her feral flare, she will become incredibly powerful and you won't be able to catch her up. You should gank constantly if Shyvana is the enemy jungler.

VS

Veigar

Easy

Pretty much a free kill if you gank him. ^^

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

VS

Zed

Easy

Even though Zed isn't a jungler, you have to remember that you counter him pretty hard so you should always gank him first. Save your E for when he gets out of range so you can get higher chances to kill him.

Jungle - Route and tips Back to Top

The recommended jungle route on red side is : Blue (Smite it) >> Wolves >> Red (Smite it) >> Gank

but if you prefer farming instead of getting kills, go do your wight after your blue and then, your wraiths and your golems right after the Red.

The recommended jungle route on blue side is : Red (Smite it) >> Wolves >> Blue (Smite it) >> Gank
(On blue side, you shouldn't start red if your purpose is to farm early game.)

The reason you should start red on blue side is that you will naturally end up near mid/top lane, which are a lot easier to gank at lvl 3 but also, you'll be able to counter-jungle at the enemy's red as most junglers start blue. This might give you first blood and/or the enemy's red. However, never be too greedy and don't stay in their jungle for too long because you could get caught in an embush if the mid laner comes for you. If you give the double buff to him by dying, the enemy mid lane could snowball so much that it might make you lose the game.

When you're farming your camps, it is a good idea to always back off from your target between each AA so you take a bit less damage and it may help you to improve your positioning in general.

Your passive makes you deal more damage when your target is isolated. That's why it's a good thing to isolate your red buff into the bush before you Q-11.png it. For the same reason, you need to isolate the biggest wolves, wraiths and golems by killing the small ones first. Unfortunately, you can't isolate your blue buff.

Never gank if you're not at least level 3 as you wouldn't have your leap.

If you managed to get level 6 quite early and you evolved Q first, it is always a great idea to go solo Dragon. Put a trinket in a close bush and immediately Leap-Q on the dragon. Nobody will expect you to do it so early in the game but just to be cautious, tell your team to stay close in case someone would want to contest it.

Once you get your 3209_32.png, you must always keep an eye on your conservation stacks in order to prevent it from reaching 80. You would miss so much potential gold by not farming when your conservation is high. *USEFULL TIP : When your stacks are below 10, this means that it's time to gank or pressure a lane. When they are above 65/70, this means you must kill a camp ASAP."

With 3077_32.png or 3074_32.png, your jungle clear combo should always be AA-W-Tiamat/Hydra-Q so you can get the fastest possible clear.

Teamfights Back to Top

The moment when the mid tower falls down often marks the end of the laning phase. Now everyone is roaming and guess what, teamfights begin! Kha'Zix is not known as a bruiser or a tank. He is a pure assassin. This means that he isn't there just to poke the enemies, he is there to kill.

When a teamfight is going to begin soon, ask your team to give you vision or ward yourself. Then, you can just W toward the enemies before someone engages. After that, you should focus on the enemy carries and try to figure out which target is going to be the easiest for you. Once you found it, just jump on it with the combo E-3074_32.png-Q and if you kill it, you have 2 options : either disengage the fight by leaping away or leap on a new target to get your resets again and maybe ace them. If unfortunately, you don't manage to get any resets on your E, you should get out of there ASAP by using your ultimate or your 4.png.
Don't forget that you can Q and 3074_32.png in mid-air but you can't W in mid-air.

When and how to use his abilities? Back to Top

121_64.png
Q -> The best way to use his Q is with the AA-Q combo as the AA will slow the target so the Q is easier to land and the Q will cancel the previous AA for faster clear. You can also use your Q on an isolated target for some insane damage. As a jungler, don't be afraid to spam Q because the blue buff will prevent you from missing mana. Q can be used in mid-air (while leaping)

W -> Ever since they've nerfed his Q, W has been his greateast source of damage, especially when you max it. This is his only ranged skillshot. It doesn't deal as much damage as the Q and costs a lot of mana. It should be used to get some creeps far from you but don't spam it while csing. Furthermore, W is the best ability to poke enemies before a teamfight begins, because it allows to deal damage from a safe distance. Finally, W has to be used while ganking due to its slow that makes it easier for you to secure the kill or to make the enemy waste his flash. When you have no vision of a bush, W toward it ; you'll notice a small explosion if it hits someone. It's a good habit to develop, which is better than facechecking.

E -> Before you get your resets on your leap, E can be used to jump over monster walls (i.e. Wolves, Wraiths, Golems, Red, Blue, Dragon) so you can save time by not being forced to walk around them. The second way it can be used before you evolve your E is to finish off an enemy after you gank. The third way you can use it is to escape by jumping over a wall. You should not use your leap to engage a teamfight if you're not very confident and you're not sure you'll succeed to pick up a kill, and thus get your leap back, given that you would lose your greatest escape.

At the moment you finally get your resets on your E (usually at level 11), you can surprise the enemy carries by jumping straight on them and kill them so you can get the resets and E away. You can also use your E to insta-clear an entire minion wave while using Hydra in mid-air.

R -> His ultimate is not only an excellent escape. It is also very good for chasing an enemy or to increase your damage. (Kha ultimate resets his passive) It can be used before jumping in a fight and/or to move back to a safer position so you don't get destroyed.

In a 1v1, go right behind the enemy while you're in stealth and land an auto-attack to get the bonus damage from your passive. Try to always position yourself at places where nobody would expect you to be.The enemy will be really confused if you do so and thus, he may hesitate a lot, which will make him loose the fight.

Credit - Who is Nightblue3? Back to Top

Nightblue3 is a top Challenger I in NA servers who mains the role of Jungler. His stream on twitch.tv became very popular while he played multiple junglers in each elo, from Bronze II to Diamond I.

Kha'Zix Jungler wasn't considered top tier before he began playing it and the way he builds it nearly became a Standard build. This build gives Kha'Zix an excellent early, mid and late game, with so much snowball potential.

I was surprised to notice that despite Nightblue's increasing popularity, there was still no guide explaining his strategy. That's why I decided to create a guide, which only describes his opinion and not mine. I have written many things that he said in his stream, trying to make it as simple as possible to understand.

Without Nightblue3, this guide wouldn't be possible. :)
