Summoner Spells Back to Top

3.png4.png

latest?cb=20140924141809

Great set vs strong dueling monsters. Exhaust will weaken the enemy to secure your remount once you fall off Skaarl, and also will help you setting up the gank for your jungler; it will be much easier to land kledq.png on your enemy. Flash will give you the kick when you have to run away (if yer a stinkin' coward) or extend your klede.png to stick to enemies from far away (aka. 4.png>klede.png into your target).

14.png4.png

latest?cb=20140924141809

Ignite will help securing kills and nullify healing effects on them sustaining bastards like 50.png or 420.png.

12.png4.png

latest?cb=20140924141809
Viable set for many top laners, and works nicely for Kled too. Teleport allows you to pull off a pretty strong gank past lvl 6 (or to return to lane quicker against tougher matchups).
12.png to bot and kledr.png from the lane into enemies so allies can follow you.
Don't set the goal of your charge on the enemy, but BEHIND THE ENEMY so they won't be able to escape easily. Go for anyone that got focused by the ult, but you should try to kill ADC first.
Just remember not to leave your laning opponent pushing, or you will have to wave goodbye to your towers. Shove your lane hard with your kledq.png and gank with 12.png when the time's right.

Overview on your Killing Toys:

noxus_crest_icon.png kledpassive.png noxus_crest_icon.png

We interrupt this guide to bring you: Courage, the Cowardly Lizard!

latest?cb=20140924141809

latest?cb=20140924141809

That ol' cute, lorewise immortal thang named Skaarl is the reason why you should play hyperagressively! But let's start from the beginning to understand kledpassive.png better.
First thing you notice while playing Kled is that he has unique (or weird, call it whatever you like) health bar. It's split in two parts:
the green part of health bar is Kled's, the other part represents Skaarl.

Skaarl's first to take damage, and after her health depletes - Kled starts to take it. When Kled's health drops to a zero, the champion dies.

Important things to note:

  • All bonus HP you get through items, mastreries and runes goes to SKAARL's health bar. KLED's health bar is ALWAYS fixed and cannot be extended in any way (except when leveling up).
  • If Skaarl takes the "overkilling" damage (aka. much more than enough to dismount), the damage doesn't "transfer" to Kled, leaving him untouched.
  • While Kled's being dismounted, he becomes Invulnerable for a split second, cleansing Kled from any Crowd Control, damage over time and aggro from turrets and monsters he had on him while mounted.

Kled has access to his basic kit as usual - as long as he rides Skaarl.
When SKAARL's health bar reaches its zero, she dismounts Kled and flees from the battlefield, leaving the Yordle alone to fight for himself. Dumb animal.
While dismounted, Kled's movement speed is always 285 (the slowest of all champions) but it's increased against enemy champions, his AA range is doubled (125>250), his kledq.png turns into Pocket Pistol and loses access to klede.png and kledr.png.
While in this state, you have 2 options: you either go back to your base like a dishonored yellow-belly scum to reset your kledpassive.png - OR KEEP FIGHTING TO GET YOUR STUPID LIZARD BACK!
In order to help Skaarl grow a pair, you must build Courage. You get Courage by smacking and killing things. Piece of cake, no?
You need 100 Courage so this dense lizard can come back. The scoring goes like this:
  • 4 Courage for killing a minion;
  • 5 Courage for hitting a structure and epic monsters (Dragon, Herald and Baron);
  • 15 Courage for hitting an enemy champion;
  • 20 Courage for killing or assisting in killing an enemy champion.
After hitting 100 Courage, Skaarl returns to Kled (after a 0.5 sec. delay - keep in mind!) with a portion of her maximum health (50~80% of SKAARL's health bar, depending on level). The more health you build, the more you gain once you remount.

Remember: when you retrieve Skaarl, your passive goes on 30 second cooldown. While it's down, you CANNOT gain Courage after you dismount again.

How does kledpassive.png work with Kled's playstyle?

Kled is League's biggest daredevil by default. His gameplay is all about reckless and inpredictable manouvers and resolute brawling till one's bloody end - which's ONLY possible because of kledpassive.png.
This passive REWARDS you for being a crazy, unforgiving and relentless killer! There are moments where the only option to survive is to Flash away from your problems. That's not an option for Kled - after dismounting he can keep on fighting at the brink of death, just to get a second wind from Skaarl to finish the job!
You can bait out greedy divers, outlive duelers, survive insane dives - the stuff that nearly no other champion can pull off without proper itemization!
The more you master this passive, the more insane plays you can execute ALL BY YOURSELF!
Speaking of "greedy divers", here is an examples:

Sion_promo_icon.png

Just remember to invest some of your gold into health, so you won't be dismounted easily and so Skaarl can return with more health, allowing you to survive even longer battles.

Ye ol' Gank, Crank 'n Yank!

latest?cb=20140924141809

Kled throws a bear trap that deals moderate damage. If it hits an enemy, Kled gains True Vision on them, and if he stays near the hooked enemy for 1.75, he yanks enemy toward him, dealing additional damage and applying the slow.

Pick kledq.png first for early trades and poke. Your opponent will have to either back off and lose CS, or stay, receive additional dmg and get in range of your auto attacks. It also deals bonus dmg to minions, so you can try last hit with it while aiming for the enemy.
I'd like to point out that this ability is fantastic when invading - if you go in with your team and manage to land kledq.png on someone, it's either an easy First Blood for your team or wasted 4.png for your enemy.
Max it first because it serves as a great harassment tool in lane.

noxus_crest_icon.png(update the icon already, LolKing!)noxus_crest_icon.png

Personal Space Show: the gun!

latest?cb=20140924141809

While you're dismounted, your kledq.png becomes a Pocket Pistol.

Upon cast, Kled fires 5 bullets in a cone, knocking Kled back. Each bullet that hits an enemy champion restores 5 Courage.

Important note to take - this is your DISENGAGEMENT TOOL. It's your "back-up plan" type of ability, not Yasuo's yasuoqw.png that you can cast away every time it comes off cooldown, hoping it'll hit anything. It's very situational, and the damage it deals is not impressive, similarly to Poppy's poppyr.png.

Best case scenario for this ability is when a melee champion (say, 86.png for example) is running towards you while you're fighting for Skaarl. You cast Pocket Pistol at the enemy to gain Courage and regain space before he can reach you, while you're autoattacking him.
You can also use Pocket Pistol as a poke. If your opponent's CC is on cooldown, simply run at him, land a basic attack or two (your AA's range is doubled while dismounted, remember), and Pocket Pistol at him to fall back. With this rather catious move you regained about 40 Courage.
We're not talking damage here, it's poor.

noxus_crest_icon.png kledw.png noxus_crest_icon.png

The 'Nam Flashback!

latest?cb=20140924141809

Whenever Kled attacks while the ability is available, he gains 150% attack speed for the next 4 attacks or for 4 seconds. After that, the ability goes on cooldown.
The fourth hit deals bonus flat damage plus a percentage of target's maximum health.

As second, pick kledw.png to unlock your inner Flippy from Happy Tree Friends; your primary damage output. Take a second point on Lvl5 to enforce it slightly. It wrecks squishies, it chunks tanks, it helps you get Skaarl back when she flees away. The problem is: it triggers every time you hit something, so you can't truly control it, and enemies can use this against you and engage while kledw.png is on CD. Despite that, Kled is a very tacky champion, and the most damage comes from auto attacking, thus maxing it second will ramp up your damage output and help you transit to mid game better.

noxus_crest_icon.png klede.png noxus_crest_icon.png

Nice Flash you had there!

latest?cb=20140924141809

Kled dashes forward, dealing little damage in his path. If he hits an enemy champion or a large monster, he gains bonus movement speed for a second and True Sight on the target.
Reactivating this ability within 3 seconds sends Kled back to the target, dealing the same damage.

While the first dash can't cross terrain, the second one can pass through nearly anything.
You can't recast if the target's too far away from you.

latest?cb=20140924141809

latest?cb=20140924141809

Third comes klede.png , which is the reason why Kled is a damn nimble Yordle, able to dodge any possible threat while sticking to single target till it drops dead. It can cover your cast time on kledq.png while klede.png, you can quickly reposition yourself with it, it can force your enemies to waste their escaping tools (or any self-defense abilities like with Vayne's vaynecondemn.png or Jayce's jaycethunderingblow.png) once hit AND dash again at them leaving them hopeless and open to your agression - this ability is SO GOOD for Kled!
When you hit an enemy with it, DON'T RECAST IMMEDIATELY! Wait till they burn 4.png or when the mark's almost gone, THEN recast klede.png and KICK THEIR TEETH IN!

  • QUICK TIP: At level 2, if your enemy stays in lane while being low on health, and any/both of you burnt 4.png while you're still on Skaarl, take klede.png and dive him once you have kledq.png off cooldown.
    Here's an example clip:

Sion_promo_icon.png

noxus_crest_icon.png kledr.png noxus_crest_icon.png

Ain't no breaks on Pain Train!

latest?cb=20140924141809

Kled charges forward to destined location, leaving the trail that grants allies huge movement speed. Kled gradually gains a shield while charging, depending on distance he traveled, up to a cap. Shield lasts 2 seconds after the charge.
Skaarl chases down while passing through any terrain and rams the first enemy champion encountered in the charge, dealing percentage of target's maximum health based on distance traveled.

latest?cb=20140924141809

latest?cb=20140924141809

Kled's kledr.png is a serious ability. It's so serious, you cannot go back once you cast it. Mark the target location and let Jesus take the wheel (for a short while). I guarantee that 7 out of 10 times ANYONE focused by the charge will die.
It's great for chasing down enemies after a successful skirmish, it's fantastic to cover long paths when your team must go from one objective to the other (like going mid right after killing dragon/baron), it a good tool when you need to towerdive a low-health enemy (the shield you gain from charge it so helpful with that - and building AD rewards you with even biger shield!), works greatly when you have to deny a single-enemy splitpush, or to quickly join your team in battle while flanking the enemy.

But you must be mindful when using it, one cast is the final one. You must be sure if you want to commit to your plan, whether it's an objective or a frag.
Take it whenever you can! (lvl 6-11-16)

Example clip on how your ult can assist in reaching for victory:

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Basic
Always pick Yellow first. Keep it if you lack vision on the map. Pick Red if vs invisible champs/traps. Pick blue if you need vision for ult/on objectives (like drake or baron).
When you have to recall early, grab a second Doran to help you with laning phase. Buy Phage or Tiamat first, whether you need waveclear or skirmishing power in lane. Then take the other option, and move to your core items.

Core Items

Core items you need to build. Take Cleaver whether facing tanks or when you want CDR earlier, or take Titanic if you need waveclear and the active to quickly remount when Skaarl escapes (vs bursty opponents). When you build one, take the other.
Defensive item options. Visage vs ap and when you have a dedicated healer or lifesteal. Thronmail vs general AA carries / Randuin vs AA Crit carries. Adaptive works wonders against spammy matchups, like Mundo, Cassio or Vlad. DMP if you need more chasing power.
Offensive items. From Youmuu you get armor pene and active MS when you must escape (like a coward) or chase. BOTRK grants you sustain, helps dealing with tanks, and melts eveything with Violent Tendencies. Malmortius is decent vs bursty mages, and gives bonuses when low on hp. DD for overall in-combat tankiness and sustain.
Boots options. When vs AA champs or when vs heavy CC/heavy ap.

Situational Items

For cocky Kleds, instead of Titanic option. Since Kled has very good ratios, Ravenous is a decent item. Gives lots of AD, good lifesteal, wave clear, and health regen. You lose lots of HP from not taking the Titty Hydra, but you have better odds in surviving while being dismounted. Also THIS DAMAGE, MAN.
While PD is not a recommended item, it's a funny gimmick (if rolling). Brings dueling tankiness, AS, tackiness and crit (if proced on last hit from W = Tons of Damage®)
Due to latest changes to GA, it's no longer a must-get for Kled, since it doesn't scale off max hp. but the effect itself is still strong, so if you are snowballing, take it as 4th item.

VS

Aatrox

Easy

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Should be easy taking care of him early. Watch our for damage from 3rd hit aatroxw.png and revive from aatroxpassive.png once his resource bar fills red.

VS

Camille

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

She's similar to Fiora, but you have better answers to her.

In early stages of the match, poke and kite her with kledq.png. Stand far enough to not get hit and not too far to proc the yank. This might be tough for outback-yordle-beginners, but after a while you should get a hang of it.

If her camillepassive.png procs, DO NOT ENGAGE HER. It blocks a huge % of her max HP from main type of damage you deal, and as Kled it's AD. If you even try to engage her with her shield up, you will end up dealing nothing, while she may kick you off your Skaarl.
Attack her while camillepassive.png is on CD, or when she procs it on AP champion.

When she hits you with camilleq.png, fall back, so she wont hit you with the 2nd kick, which deals massive true damage.

She heals and slows with camillew.png, which you can quite easily avoid by klede.png into her; then you can recast klede.png to return to her.

Camille's camillee.png is a very dangerous tool, since it can cover a decent amount of ground and stun you if you're nearby. If you see her jumping onto the wall, move in the opposite direction of her first jump or juke aside with klede.png.

When she camiller.png on you, she becomes untargetable for like a half a second and cages you. Your ONLY hope is to fight. She deals % of your max HP per hit while camiller.png is active, but with a bit of luck and faith in your kit you may survive it and even kill her - depends on how fed she is/how ahead are you. Land all hits from kledw.png and kite with Pocket Pistol whenever she nears you.

Camille's a great roaming potential thanks to her camillee.png. Whenever you suspect she left the lane to gank, shove down the minion wave quickly and go after her. Ping your midlaner to be careful and ask your jungler to help.

Right now she struggles in lane a bit, but don't let your guard down.

VS

Darius

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Very difficult matchup! Experienced Kleds can win this though.

Darius will dismount you with his dariuspassive.png and finish you off easily with dariusexecute.png . He's quite tanky and his DOT is potentially much more overwhelming than your average damage output. Lane is all about how can YOU play around him.

Dueling him early is risky. Keep your distance and farm with kledq.png.

When engaged, avoid the outer circle of his dariuscleave.png. Going INTO it will deal only 33% of its damage, so engaging Darius is much more forgiving now.

If he misses dariuscleave.png, you can go in with kledq.png>kledw.png and get out. Don't fight for too long, or dariuspassive.png will melt you down.

Keep your klede.png ready at all time to quickly escape from him once he pulls you with dariusaxegrabcone.png.

If he dismounts you, DO NOT COME NEAR HIM - disengage with your Pocket Pistol and recall shamefully to your base.

Do not engage him alone if unsure, ask your jungler to gank as soon as possible. If jungler cannot help you because reasons, try last hiting when you're out of his reach.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3155.png

He should be relatively easy to bully. Buy3123.png early to cripple his sadism.png.

VS

Ekko

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3155.png

If you seen one, you've seen all of them.

Every Ekko is pretty much the same. So the lane relies on your own skill.
Keep your distance to avoid his ekkoq.png . If it hits, expect Ekko to ekkoe.png to you, so prepare your klede.png on him and respond with your kledq.png and kledw.png.

If you can see ekkow.png coming, just klede.png into Ekko to get out of the zone, then recast klede.png once the stun from ekkow.png is triggered. Don't bother about the shield, it will wear off quickly.

When he hits 6, ALWAYS have an eye on his clone from ekkor.png . Try keeping the same distance between Ekko and his clone, so you can swiftly respond to where he is going to be.

I don't recommend engaging him by yourself though. Just wait for Ekko to do it for you. Trust me, every Ekko will try to ekkow.png>ekkoe.png on you.
Just make sure you have your klede.png and do as I say.

If he dismounts you, don't worry. He probably already have used his burst on you to do that, so keep fighting for Skaarl with kledw.png and use Pocket Pistol once you land all 4 hits.

If you're too low on hp for that, then simply fall back and recall. His dives are quite scary, so keep a spare shot from Pocket Pistol to juke.

VS

Fiora

Hard

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

It's FIORA. 'Nuff said.

I've heard that Fiora is Kled's counter. I agree she's difficult to handle, though I belive that you can still take care of her if you know her playstyle.

Against her, taking 3.png is recommendable. Also max kledw.png first, since kledq.png is risky against her, because she can parry your pull with fioraw.png, stun you and wreck you.

Be careful on how you approach her - take note how is fiorapassive.png placed on you, because that'll be Fiora's priority. She'll try dashing around you with fioraq.png to proc it, so positioning is the key.

You can walk away from Fiora to reset Vital's placement.

Her lvl2 is better than yours due to Fiora's fiorae.png. It slows and crits (in that order), leaving you vulnerable to more assaults.

Whenever you throw kledq.png on her, KEEP IN MIND that she can fioraw.png in time to ignore the yank and stun you if she lands the skillshot. It depends on how experienced Fiora is. If she responds, juke ASIDE with klede.png.

Also, if Fiora's fioraw.png doesn't block a CC, it still slows your movement speed and attack speed if it hits you. Also, Courage can't be generated on parrying Fiora.

If Fiora wastes her fioraw.png for any reason, you may go in with klede.png>kledq.png>kledw.png>klede.png without any care in the world.

Whenever she fiorar.png on you, DISENGAGE IMMEDIATELY. When fiorar.png fades and Fiora gives up - turn around and fight her, since she lost her opportunity to outlive you.

As long as you're mounted, you're safe. Try short duels with klede.png>kledw.png>klede.png after she fails her fioraq.png. Don't spam kledq.png because she may stun you and win the trade. And keep an eye on minimap to see if there's enemy jungler or mid laner coming to gank you.

Also remember - it's FIORA. Even if she gets wrecked in lane, she'll recover by roaming. She's destined to be a late game monster and you can't help it.

VS

Galio

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3155.png

If this guy doesn't kill you before he rotates out, you win immediately.

In lane be wary of his galioq.png and galiopassive.png, these deal horrible damage.

Notify your teammates whenever he hits 6 and steps down from lane. His counter ganks are incredible.

VS

Gangplank

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Depends how enemy player is experienced with Gangplank. If it's a newbie, you can bully the hell out of him, but watch for enemy ganks.

Be careful if he has gangplankpassive.png up. It serves like a mini ignite, hurts a lot and it may melt Skaarl (or worse, you).

He can poke you badly with gangplankqwrapper.png. If GP uses it on a minion, you may try to trade with him if he's away from his minions.

Keep taking out his gangplanke.png. With AS you get from kledw.png, you should 85% of times disarm them easily even when GP tries to explode them. And keep an eye out for chain reaction!

When he casts gangplankr.png on you, get out ASAP and use Pocket Pistol if dismounted.

Don't stand dismounted for too long when facing Gangplank. He can poke the hell out of you with gangplankqwrapper.png and gangplanke.png before you can reach him. Just try to go at him immediately once he dismounts you IF POSSIBLE. Otherwise, recall.

VS

Garen

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Brush's tanky pest.

He has no ranged abilities, so keep poking him with kledq.png . Be careful though, as he can charge into you with garenq.png>garene.png combo, which can dish out horrible damage.

Poke him frequently, so he can't regereate his health with garenpassive.png.

Garen's garenw.png can absorb majority of your trades. Don't waste your cycle and wait until it wears off.

While dismounted, kite him with Pocket Pistol. If he has garenr.png, don't approach until you get kledpassive.png back. It will kill you most of the times.

VS

Gnar

Hard

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Kite monster with good sustain damage and terrible CC chain once he transforms.

Stand behind your minions to not get poked.

If he's turning mega, stand as far as you can so he won't jump to you bouncing off from a minion/ally/enemy. His burst and CC chain with gnarr.png to the wall>Q>W combo is terrifying. Engage when his mega form ends.

VS

Hecarim

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3077.png

He's easy to bully, sicne he is a jungler, not a top laner.
His hecarimrapidslash.png will drain out his mana before it starts being a threat.

But after lvl6 you should watch out for his hecarimult.png. Hecarim alone won't kill you, but anyone who follows him will take the chance once you're terrified.

VS

Illaoi

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Illaoi is a scary opponent for some, and that's understandable. You have to know when to engage and disengage to secure victory over that big lady.

You want to take out her illaoipassive.png whenever you have the opportunity. Don't stand near them if Illaoi's nearby. They will hurt.

If she starts with illaoiq.png, go super agressive and dodge her Slams. She should be an easy kill to pick.

If she starts with illaoiw.png, play carefully, since any illaoipassive.png nearby can hurt you horribly.

Stay behind your minions and try to dodge her illaoie.png. If she pulls your "Vessel", avoid illaoiq.png so it won't hit both you and your Vessel, or else you'll take tons of damage™. After you dodge, try to fight her so the Vessel can disappear quickly.

If she uses illaoir.png, DISENGAGE IMMEDIATELY. Tentacles spawn for every enemy that got hit with this ult, and also her illaoiw.png has only 2 seconds cooldown while it lasts - so staying in one place is a VERY BAD IDEA. Get away from her and wait till the illaoir.png ends. Then you may go back to fight.

Besides that, Illaoi is very open to poke. So going in with klede.png>kledq.png>kledw.png>klede.png and waiting for the rotation is safe.

VS

Irelia

Medium

Don't fight in your minions due to her ireliagatotsu.png.
Don't engage unless she uses ireliaequilibriumstrike.png.
Other than than, not a hard lane. You should win.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium
So, Jarvan became a monster once again. He can build full tank and still pack a wallop.

Your trading options against him don't differ much from facing any other melee bruiser, so all you need to know about this matchup is Jarvan's possibilities.

In lane, Jarvan's jarvanivdragonstrike.png>jarvanivpassive.png trade hits like 10 trucks, so try stepping aside when you expect him to cast jarvanivdragonstrike.png on you. Armour shred and current health% hit are not to be ignored.

His jarvanivdemacianstandard.png>jarvanivdragonstrike.png is pretty spammable, so never stand between Jarvan and his jarvanivdemacianstandard.png. It knocks up and shreds armour.

After lvl 6, jarvanivcataclysm.png serves as a bonus gap closer. Mounted, try fighting back since you got no other options. Dismounted, use Pocket Pistol to get out of the "Ring of Honour" and regain some Courage off of Jarvan.

VS

Jax

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Nightmare to all auto attackers.

Early, keep your trades short! DON'T DUEL HIM FOR TOO LONG! His jaxpassive.png is not to be ignored, since he can dismount you and have enough AS to kill you before you can remount.

Approach him ONLY if his jaxcounterstrike.png is on cooldown. It will parry your entire kledw.png and stun you long enough to give you a whoopin', which may knock you off your Skaarl.

If he has jaxcounterstrike.png ready and prepared, klede.png away from him to not let him jaxleapstrike.png on you and stun you. Fear the chopper!

While dismounted, kite him with Pocket Pistol. You may go for regaining Courage with kledw.png ONLY IF Jax's jaxcounterstrike.png is down.

Hard, but not the hardest. You should never disregard him, since he scales into late game much better than you.

VS

Jayce

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Bane of my life...

I hate him on personal level. Siege, team speed bump, splitpush, dueling. Overall dangerous opponent - but only if he gets ahead in laning phase.

As Kled, you should almost never be passive against him. He will keep poking you with cannon mode. I hate his M.Cannon's E>Q combo. If you must wait, stay behind your minions at all times.

Whenever your creepwave comes in, seek for an opportunity to charge into him with klede.png. If it applies, wait a bit to force him to jaycethunderingblow.png you, then recast klede.png and land kledq.png on him - HE WON'T ESCAPE NOW.

If you're dismounted, any attempt to engage is a risk. He can burst you down with hammer mode quite quickly. Either try last hitting and poking him with Pocket Pistol, or shamefully recall.

VS

Kennen

Hard

Very tough opponent. He can poke the crap out of you, stun you once you go in, and whenever you dismount, pray to the Lord his kennenshurikenstorm.png is on cooldown.

You must bully him early, it would be the best if he casted kennenshurikenhurlmissile1.png and/or kennenbringthelight.png on minions, so he won't stun you. Simply cycle on him and get out if he's not low enough to die. Sadly, kennenlightningrush.png is a great disengagement tool and it will ruin your kill potential.

Ask for help.

VS

Kled

Hard

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

This gon' be a loud lane.

I'm very bad when it comes to mirror matches (with many champions), so people are surprised when: "lvl7 Kled loses to first timer, lol????"
I will try to provide more info and tips once I will figure out how you should act when facing enemy Kled.

VS

Malphite

Hard

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3111.png

Now that's a hard matchup.

Early game is pretty much yours until he builds armour. You should keep poking Malphite with kledq.png.

His obduracy.png isn't very scary, but you shoudln't fight him when he casts landslide.png. It will cripple your attack speed like hell. Your kledw.png will feel like shit.

If he casts ufslash.png, it's strenght depends on if he's ahead or if you are. When he does ult you when you're behind, you're pretty much dead. Even after 4.png, he can throw seismicshard.png at you and catch up.

Friendly gank should help.

VS

Nasus

Easy

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png> Rush 3047.png

He's like Goliath, but luckily, you're David in this matchup.

The best way to take care of this late game monster is to BULLY THE HECK OUT OF HIM EARLY.

Build 3047.png after 3071.png for safety measures. It absorbs 12% of dmg from nasusq.png , which may save your butt big time.

Keep punishing him with kledq.png > kledw.png for stepping close to his farm.

Disengage when he casts nasusw.png on you. It slows your AS and MS horribly, which cripples your kledw.png and klede.png .

Always step off the nasuse.png since you take DOT from it and reduced your armor for flat amount. And since you don't build armour early, it hurts even more when fighting Nasus.

Don't be scared of his nasusr.png. It no longer gives more AD, but bonus Resistances. Since it's a pretty easy lane, you should have 3071.png by then, which will make this encounter much more favourable in your case.

Keep in mind these notes and enjoy your lane.

VS

Olaf

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png> Rush 3047.png

Scary, but easy to play against.

Avoid Olaf's olafaxethrowcast.png, and keep in mind his olafpassive.png (the lower he's on hp, the bigger his AS is).

Don't let him heal on minions with olaffrenziedstrikes.png, keep him on the leash with kledq.png.

When he dismounts you, kite him with AA>Pocket Pistol. Go in for Skaarl when you're above 50 Courage and kledw.png is up.

Your rotation is way more dangerous early than Olaf's. He has no escapes, so he HAS TO fight in order to have chances to win.

VS

Ornn

Medium

He's surprisingly dangerous. Due to his ornnpassive.png, he can immediately buy armor to counter you.

His ornnw.png is a super strong trading ability. It gives him barrier, strong melting current-hp damage and Brittle which will take a chunk of your max HP once procced - and worst of all, he is immune to CC while casting it. Avoid the end of this ability by going klede.png into him.

Don't get caught by his ornnq.png into ornne.png combo. It will slow you long enough to set up this mini-Malphite ultimate.

His ornnr.png is insane. One way, it slows. The second time (IF ORNN KICKS IT BACK), it knocks up, procs and re-applies Brittle. It's scary 1v1, and dangerous in teamfight. Call your buddies to save CC on him whenever you hear his hORNN (heh) so he won't kick it back for huge knock up.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

Honestly, it's just Panth. He is made to bully and beat up his lane opponent. DO NOT fight him dismounted. Tell your allies whenever Panth hit level 6, so they can be aware of potential pantheonrjump.png gank.

VS

Poppy

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3077.png

Darius has Garen, and you have Poppy.

When she throws poppypassive.png, you can step on it and break it to prevent her from reciving a huge-ass shield. But be wary to not approach it when it lands NEAR A WALL, since she can punish you with poppye.pngpoppyq.png combo.

Poppy's poppyw.png will cockblock your klede.png, so think twice before you want to rush into her or away from her. It cannot block your kledr.png though.

VS

Quinn

Hard

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

She can poke, blind, disengage, kite... Kled has low chances vs her. It is possible to win against her, but it requires knowing her abilities and finding the narrow windows of opportunity to go all in, like this:

Take 12.png and roam whenever she leaves the lane.
Otherwise call for help.

VS

Renekton

Hard
Very agressive bully, this "little" Schnappi is.

His first level is very weak, so abuse it - kledq.png and AA the hell out of him. With the 2nd level and further, play more carefully.

DO NOT FIGHT HIM if he's enraged. He can renektonsliceanddice.png>renektonsliceanddice.png to you through your minions, stun you for 1.5 second and burst you down with renektonpreexecute.png>renektoncleave.png. If you're dismounted, he will finish you like that - quick and easy. So be VERY careful.

If Renekton dismounts you, kite him with Pocket Pistol, and GTFO of your lane. ASAP.

Avoid long trades if he gets ahead. Ask for help either from your jungler or mid laner.

If you're the one ahead, you should have no problem with Renekton.

VS

Rengar

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png> Rush 3047.png

Easy as top laner, scary as jungler.

He has small chance to win a duel with you, but he's sure to kill you if he jumps on you while you're dismounted.

VS

Riven

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png> Rush 3047.png

Riven's 3rd hop from riventricleave.png should be easily dodgeable with well timed klede.png. Bonus points if you dodge it by going into her - this should win you any trades with her.

While fighting Riven, try playing around her rivenmartyr.png. If she casts it, go all in with klede.png>kledq.png>kledw.png>klede.png.

The only time you have to be careful is when she has her rivenfengshuiengine.png up while you're dismounted. Kite with Pocket Pistol

Keep an eye on Riven's position and try telegraphing her intentions.

VS

Rumble

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3155.png

Sissy pants can't duel without hiding behind scrap!

For realsies now, Rumble's hard to deal with early, but you can beat him!

His rumbleflamethrower.png can melt you over time, so run around him with klede.png while he fires away, he won't be able to keep up.

Rumble's rumblegrenade.png is tad annoying, especially if you have no means to get to him in melee range. Besides that, you shouldn't worry about this ability.

Your kledq.png is great, since Rumble has no means to escape or blink, so he has to burn 4.png to avoid being mangled with kledw.png.

rumblecarpetbomb.png AVOID AT ALL COST. This deals crazy amounts of damage! Step off it ASAP and then continue to fight.

This matchup requires experience. Once you got his pattern down, you'll be able to handle him without major problems.

VS

Shaco

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3111.png

Give one reason why you shouldn't hate him. You can't.

He's easy to kill once you catch him, but you should fear his jackinthebox.png when you're Skaarl-less. Get 3364.png once you hit 9.

VS

Sion

Easy

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3111.png

Big guy, big mouth, big telegraphs.

As Kled, you should have the upper hand.

ALWAYS remember of Sion's sionpassive.png . If he dies, GTFO. Use klede.png if necessary.

When he starts charging up his sionq.png, go klede.png as fast as you can - either into him or aside. Also you can negate it with well timed kledq.png .

Sion's sionw.png takes a while to explode, even manually. Retreat for a while till it expires.

His sione.png might be problematic mid-fight. Slow and armor shred is big deal if he follows up with sionq.png . Your only chance is klede.png .

When it comes to sionr.png, just juke it. It's a very strong ability, but it's easy to dodge.

You may dodge everything he has, but he is still tough to kill. A friendly gank will help.

VS

Teemo

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3111.png

A devil? More like a mere imp.

Don't get poked too much, his poison is quite strong.

Success in killing Teemo is to engaging around his blindingdart.png . If you think he keeps it ready, stay away.
If he decides to poke you with it, wait until it wears off and immediately klede.png into him. He can't blind you for a while, so make use of it.

When he hits 6, watch your step, get 3341.png to disable and get rid of teemorcast.png. Alternatively, wait till lvl 9 and get 3364.png.

Your kledq.png and klede.png grant True Sight. If you manage to catch Teemo, he won't be able to escape from you.

VS

Tryndamere

Hard

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png> Rush 3047.png

Ever wanted to stay on top lane for 24/7? He's a good reason to!

Tryndamere will most certainly keep splitpushing into his (or yours) demise. Be careful after lvl6!

Always watch for his tryndamerepassive.png - if his resource bar is full red, he will hit like a truck with his crits.

Trynda's sustain comes from tryndamerepassive.png - he hits minions, he gains Rage, then he casts tryndamereq.png to consume the Rage and heal. Try to keep him away from minions by landing kledq.png at him.

If Trynda tryndameree.png into you, fight on if you have kledw.png available.

If he dismounts you and still goes after you, better stack Courage quickly - land all kledw.png on him and kite with Pocket Pistol.

Do NOT engage him if he has his undyingrage.png ready. You may force it with kledq.png and back away with klede.png.

If Tryndamere goes undyingrage.png under tower, KEEP GOING AROUND your tower! If he decides to retreat after that, go after him with kledr.png and try to kill him.

VS

Vayne

Medium

Oddly enough, Kled deals with Vayne very well! She's a scary duelist, despite everything.

Similar case with 126.png, don't play passively for too long. She's not so strong early and you can beat her. Go klede.png into her, wait till the last moment to make sure she uses vaynecondemn.png on you, then recast klede.png, throw kledq.png and beat her up.

Dismounted, play safe. It's risky dueling her alone. Last hit and poke with Pocket Pistol. Commit only if you can't escape. Otherwise, recall like a reeking Private.

If she uses vayneinquisition.png, don't worry. Your kledq.png and klede.png grant True Sight and COMPLETELY NEGATE ANY STEALTH ABILITIES, and she won't be able to juke you with vaynetumble.png.

All in all, try pressuring her early and it should be fine.

VS

Vladimir

Hard

BOOOOOORING.

He won't die, but you may if you're not being careful.

Stay away, since Vlad will keep on poking you with vladimirq.png and heal out from any previous trades.

If you manage to corner him, he will simply vladimirsanguinepool.png away. Only his vladimire.png is easy to counter-play, just stay behind your minions.

If he lands his vladimirhemoplague.png on you, disengage.

While you possibly can kill Vladimir somehow, you won't be successful against him most of the times, so just arm up with 3065.png somewhere after building 3071.png. You may rush 3123.png , but you will still have hard times trying to kill him.

Ask your jungler to help. If he won't, try shoving down the lane with kledq.png while Vlad's away and see if you can help elsewhere.

VS

Volibear

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3123.png

Depends if he's a Care Bear, or Wisconsin Snow Grizzly.

Ironically keep him on leash with your kledq.png , fall back if he starts going volibearq.png on you; use klede.png if needed.

If Voli manages to catch you, just move away between every kledw.png attack (aka. semi-kite).
While in combat, if he's close to trigger his volibearpassive.png , land 14.png on him to diminish his heal and go in for the kill.

If he's ahead, disengage whenever he uses his volibearr.png . If not, ignore that and keep bashing him.

Be carefull, if Volibear has volibearw.png ready to use while you're dismounted, you're porbably dead.

DON'T DIVE HIM, he can screw you over under his tower with volibearq.png > volibeare.png > volibearw.png combo. You may try ONLY if his volibearpassive.png is down and you're above circa 60% SKAARL's health.

VS

Wukong

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Annoying and strong.

Important: if enemy is marked with klede.png , you will still see him even if he goes invisible!
If you're about to poke Wukong with kledq.png , be careful for his monkeykingdoubleattack.png . It will hurt and you'll take bonus damage for the next 3 seconds. Back off until the debuff wears off.

Always pay attention whenever he uses his monkeykingdecoy.png . Make sure you will jump on him with klede.png when monkeykingdecoy.png is on CD. Going into his clone will suck a lot.
If you mark him, keep bashing him until you cycle through your abilities.

If Wu engages with monkeykingnimbus.png before lvl 6, go in with klede.png and fight.

If you think he has monkeykingspintowin.png ready, run back to your tower whenever he wants to jump on you. If he catches you, well, you might as well fight and hope for the best. Ya got yer kledpassive.png, no?

VS

Yasuo

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1054.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Don't let him get ahead.

Personally, I get very nervous against Yasuo, and my opinion on this matchup may vary from actual facts. Please read those with a grain of salt.

Quick notes: avoid fighting Yasuo in minion waves - it'll be hard fighting him when he keeps on dashing with yasuodashwrapper.png. Also, if he roams, you should follow him.

When he comes to farm at level 1, throw kledq.png at him; this will force him to skip some cs. If not, he'll take a huge beating from the yank and will be in range of your autos - it'll also trigger his yasuopassive.png.

If he misses his tornado from yasuoqw.png, fight him. Try taking down his yasuopassive.png first, go in with klede.png so he won't escape you easily (it'll also help you keeping up with him when he starts mashing his stupid yasuodashwrapper.png on minions), and go all in with kledq.png and kledw.png.

The only skillshots Yasuo can block with his yasuowmovingwall.png is your kledq.png and Pocket Pistol. It'll suck if he blocks it, but you can run through it.

When dismounted, try going ham once you have kledw.png available. Otherwise, kite with Pocket Pistol. Watch out for the knock up from yasuoqw.png - if Yasuo lands it on you while Skaarl-less, you're pretty much dead.

Keep this in mind, keep watching for his yasuoqw.png and you might win the lane.

VS

Yorick

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3077.png

Carpe Diem, but Memento Mori.

Yorick is a surprisingly strong oppoent. His yorickq.png hurts really bad, his trades with yoricke.png>yorickpassive.png are tough to deal with, and yorickr.png makes him super difficult to duel.

Keep your kledq.png on Yorick, it's your primary harassment tool in lane. Engage whenever he fails his yoricke.png.

If Yorick catches you with yorickw.png, your kledw.png deals with it super easy. Ignore the ring if Yorick wants to duel you in it, and fight him.
REMEMBER: your klede.png can't pass through his yorickw.png!

If he manages to send his yorickpassive.png on you with yoricke.png, one AA per ghoul is enough. You should disengage immediately though, since Yorick might smack you up good with yorickq.png while you're busy getting rid of his pests.
He and his ghouls have increased MS against champs marked with yoricke.png, so don't get caught.

Again, if he misses his yoricke.png, go in with klede.png>kledq.png>kledw.png>klede.png cycle.

Whenever Yorick summons yorickr.png, DON'T FIGHT HIM. You'll get overwhelmed with ghouls and Yorick's attacks will deal bonus magic damage based on % of target's max HP if focused by yorickr.png. Try taking out the Maiden, then go for Yorick.

Beware, Yorick is an excellent splitpusher. Keep observing the minimap to know his and yorickr.png 's position - she keeps spawning yorickpassive.png and pushes like noone else's damn business, take care of her ASAP.

And keep an eye out for 3512.png . These will shove your lane like crazy.

VS

Zed

Medium

RECOMMENDED START: 1055.png2003.png > Rush 3047.png

Edgy.

Pre-6 you're much stronger than him, so bully as much as you can.

Try to stay behind your minions and avoid his zedw.png > zedq.png . If he misses, go in with klede.png>kledq.png>kledw.png.

Be careful to not stay close to his zedw.png due to copied zedq.png. You don't want to take any unnecessary damage.

When you're about to dismount, back off and stabilize. Recall if necessary. Zed's zedr.png is too strong to ignore. Ultimately, if you can't back off, try fighting him with kledw.png. He can't go back to original position for a second, so use it or lose it.

Despite all these warning, he's a favourable matchup for you. You can bully him early with ease. Be ready to engage if his zedw.png is on CD.

Kled MID?? Back to Top

latest?cb=20140924141809

Yeah. Kled mid.

See, Kled is a fine top laner, don't get me wrong. He deals well with melees and most tanks.
But Kled works even better when he has a battle buddy with him that can follow up your kledr.png and chase down anyone you can catch on kledq.png, and middle lane usually is played by frail ranged mages and delicate assassins. Which prefer to stand BEHIND Kled. Scared to charge beside you; usually leaving you to die. Cowards.
I mean, sure, there are also junglers, but it's rare to see a fighter, mostly assassins, mages and Lee Sins. Yellow-belly backstabbers.

This is when Kled Mid comes in.
When Kled occupies this tainted by egocentric douchebags lane, top is aviable for MANY warriors! Warlords! Juggernauts! Vanguards! THESE GUYS are sure to join your charge, take down your targets and provide a solid front line for your carry - and your ult helps them complete their job!
It's also worth to mention that from mid, Kled has a convenient field to start roaming with kledr.png, contest epic monster camps, and snatch some kills on other lanes for his team.

While this sounds nice, most of you will find one issue: matchups. And that's very smart of you to point that out.
As we can figure, it may be rough for a melee warrior to go against champions with barrage of devastating, movement imparing spells that will take you down before you can reach the caster.
But keep in mind Kled is a mean, stubborn, and persistent Yordle. He works the best against tresspassers that have no escape/mobility or are rather defenseless after casting one CC ability (example: 143.png) - leaving them at Kled's mercy (which equals none).

TL;DR: Kled can go mid against many matchups if your team needs a better front line from top lane, but he can struggle against utility mages. Still, it's recommended for begginers to play top.

With some courage and thought-out strategy, Kled can overcome any enemy alone. Someday, maybe I'll be able to provide some examples in this section to give you an idea how to survive mid lane.

A summary Back to Top

Sion_promo_icon.png

Hi, I just want to say I'm sorry - this guide is incomplete yet. Still need to finish the notes on the items and matchup list - but I will update it bit by bit.
I was silver 4 in season 6 (not into rankeds anyway) so there might be some omissions, misinformation and mistakes in my notes I made throughout the matches played with Kled. Any tips and advices are welcome, just be respectful. Enjoy.
