Summoner Spells Back to Top

Season 6 ADC Masteries

In this current meta I can see no reason to get anything other than these two secondary spells, along with flash.

7.png

Pros and Cons:

+ Provides a boost in trade potential
+ Gives precious escape for Kog'maw
+ Allows you to 'protect' your support
- Does not protect you from hard cc
- Less damage prevented than barrier

1.png

Pros and Cons:

+ Great for CC removal in late game teamfights
+ Provides CC reduction even after it is used
- Can be almost useless early game
- Will not help you in trades
- Can basically be bought for 1350 gold

Basically most of the time you will want to be using heal, however in occasions that you are against enemy teams with high long duration CC (for example Amumu ults) you might want to consider it. In my matchup list I will go over lanes where you might want cleanse, for example and aggressive lane with Thresh in it.

Mastery Options

This mastery page is quite straightforward. You will be stacking your Fervor of Battle faster than any other champion in the game; any other Keystone is a waste of potential. Where there is conflict is in the two following cases:

Healing or Damage?

Vampirism or Natural Talent is a choice you will have to make. On the one hand, you scale off both AD and AP so Natural Talent applies quite well. On the other hand, sustain is something that ADC's need badly, and you benefit from both Life Steal and Spell Vamp. I lean towards Vampirism because I prefer sustain, but feel free to deter.

Armor or Magic Pen?

This is a pretty valid question. Apart from your Auto Attacks you deal full Magic Damage with your abilities, and with your W active, you will be dealing bonus Magic Damage, combined with BoRK and even the secondary Guinsoo's passive. This makes Magic Penetration viable, however you are not Corki. You will not be using your spells anywhere near as much as you think you will, especially with 4.5 attacks per second. Late game with an Infinity Edge or other such high damage item under your belt, you will be dealing more Physical than Magic Damage on your Auto Attacks, which in my opinion makes Battering Blows better than Piercing Thoughts.

What to do with Q

The confusion some people have when looking at Kog'maw builds is the complete lack of leveling Q until level 13. In most people's cases this is done because casting a Q while dueling after you getting a bit of damage, will result in an overall loss of damage (supposedly). Well here are the pros and cons of levelling it earlier up:

kogmawcausticspittle.png

Pros and Cons:

+ Longer range than AA, can be used for poke
+ Has both Armor and Magic Penetration for bonus DPS
+ Low mana cost so can be used to extreme safe farm
+ Has low cast time so only interrupts 1 AA
- Still interrupts 1 AA
- Could level up E instead for Slow + a bit of damage

So in conclusion, I would level it up because it's a useful skill to have, even if you don't use it. If you level E instead of it, you get +8% slow, +50 base damage and +10 mana cost. I don't think this is worth it, so I level Q once early.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Standard AD carry start. Don't go Cull to start off with. Only buy Cull if you are forced back early because you are losing and only have 450 gold to spend.

What Do I Build and When?

The most important thing for you to know is the situational items, so I'll list that first, and then the fine details of how to build things and some reasoning.

Situational Items:

3031.png

Infinity Edge:

Buy this if you are shitting on scrubs. It will give you the most DPS, but with the costly build and high cost base items, it is only for the brave.

3072.png

Bloodthirster:

After having successfully calmed your tits about the mad damage you are dealing as fed core item built Kog'maw, think about building this. You most likely will not be getting out DPS'd, and I mean sustained damage not bursting. However, if you are, for example a pesky Xin Zhao keeps tickling you, build this to sort him out.

3139.png

Mercurial Scimitar:

If you are worried about hard CC, and I'm talking about Malphite top Amumu jungle Swain mid Leona add kind of hard CC (or just any time you find yourself dying just because of CC) buy this. Consider buying Quicksilver Sash first, then building some damage, and returning to this later if you are hyper fed but still worried.

3508.png

Essence Reaver:

You don't particularly worry about cooldowns, but some CDR is always nice. You build Essence Reaver for 2 reasons:
1 : For some reason you are being relied on to siege, and you need some kind of Mana Regen to help.
2 : You are kind of having a bad time, because you're not getting raped but you're just a bit low on gold.
This is because Essence Reaver has that juicy mana on crit passive, and is built from enough low cost items to make it gold conscientious until you get your next pay check.

3026.png

Guardian Angel:

This is a typical end game item, especially for Kog'maw. Sometimes, no matter what you do, you can't help getting Malphite ulted followed by a Talon one-shot (true story). Most teams will have some kind of mad burst end game, and since you are being relied on to carry, you need someone other than unreliable Solo Q peasants to help a brother out. In this case, and in most cases in general, a last item Guardian Angel is preferable. Not only do you have some juicy resistances, but you that beautiful passive allows your team to catch up to your dead corpse and give you a second chance and a game winning team fight. Trust me, you will deal enough damage with your other items already.

VS

Caitlyn

Medium

She has more base range than you, so she can harass you early game. This makes it annoying to execute your early game strategy, so she can be a pain, but you will just dealĀ

more damage than her late so it is not much to worry about. Ways to counter her are:

- Play super safe and take a sustain support (Janna Soraka etc...)
- Outscale her in the mid game :)

VS

Corki

Hard

This bugger is scary. He is one of the few ADC's that is truly bursty, which is your worst nightmare. Ways to counter him are:

- Kite him from range
- Pick a high disengage support
- Harass him before 6

VS

Ezreal

Easy

He can poke you but his all-in isn't great. If you have peel, or just someone blocking his Q, you can out damage him at all points in the game. As such just counter him by:

- Position behind things to tank his Q
- Stay further out of range than his E can reach you from

You shouldn't really have to do much to win lane, as all you need to do is farm and he will fall off in damage.

VS

Jhin

Hard

With no real great way of dodging his abilities, and no escape from his CC, he can be scary. Ways to counter him are:

- Focusing on dodging his W.
- Capitalise on his reload time
- Stay away from minion waves in lane, because of his Q

VS

Kalista

Easy

You both farm for the entire laying phase. Don't abuse the truce, as she can easily turn trades on you, but you can quite easily stay safe. Not much that you can counter, just:

- Only fight if you have an advantage
- Farm from range, don't bother poke with abilities, just use AA's.

VS

Lucian

Hard

SCARY MAN ALERT

Fighting against a Lucian is hard. It doesn't work. Much like Corki, he can truly burst you. He has a gap closer, so staying out of range is hard, and is capable of bursting you at any point in the game. As such, counter him by:

- Stay safe at all times, don't be afraid to farm with Q/Ult.
- Only fight if you have someone with CC in Melee range of him (so you're not focused)

VS

Malphite

Hard

TRIGGER WARNING

Dear god ban this spawn of satan, or get some other scrub to ban it for you. There is no counter-play to a Malphite ult, and I have put this in here for the sole purpose that you counter him by:

- BANNING THIS BITCH

VS

Miss Fortune

Medium

This matchup is pretty regular. She has some burst potential, so you have to be wary of aggressive laning early on, however you do out range her, and can use this to your advantage. You have similar damage to her late game unfortunately. How you should play against her:

- stay safe early
- rely on ranged poke
- isolate and destroy her in teamfights

VS

Tristana

Medium

Tristana has a kit that is similar to yours, with a steroid to her attack speed, a way of amplifying damage from her auto attacks, and a bit of burst. However, she also has a long ranged escape, so fighting her is never easy. You can't really counter her, but she doesn't have much pressure in lane so you can simply farm up. Tips are:

- Stay out of range of her E harass
- Try not to fight unless you have an advantage, or at least her W is down
- Outfarm her!
