Summoner Spells Back to Top

21.png Barrier
Using barrier and her shield together is good for absorbing  a lot of burst damage from champs like zed.

4.png Flash
Lux has no escape really other than throwing her q and running.  I recommend always taking flash with her to compensate for her lack of mobility.

7.png Heal
I usually only take heal when I'm going support and my adc isn't bringing it so that i can use it together with my shield to save them and/or  myself in case of an emergency.

3.png Exhaust
Lux has a nice chunk of cc (q snares and e slows).  As support and sometimes mid I like taking exhaust as either cc, or to provide an escape.

12.png Teleport
If you know how to balance roaming while keeping up with cs (mid), protecting your adc (sup), defending your lane and attaining objectives, teleport is a nice summoner to have.  It gets you back to lane quickly and can give you an xp advantage in some cases.  Teleport also helps give you more map presence to make roaming much easier and quicker (and let's be honest, having a lux gank your lane even just to throw a snare is always appreciated).  Lux is an aggressive, bursty champion and being all over the map will help you get fed or help you to get the rest of your team fed.

14.png Ignite
I would never recommend taking ignite.  If you're in range to use it, you're too close.  If you want to be really aggressive early game it can be useful but late game it's usually not very beneficial in comparison to other summoner spells.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

I start with Dorans ring for some ap and for the bit of sustain. Health pots because Lux is stupidly squishy and you're going to find yourself losing health pretty early on, especially if dodging enemies abilities is something you need to work on.
For support i start with spell thief and build into Frost queens. If you're support you should not be farming so spell thief will give you 2 gold per ten seconds. It will give you tribute gold when you hit enemy champions with an abilit and as lux, you generally want to be an aggressive support so that will maximize your gold inc potential. Lux's e can grant vision when thrown into a bush or area masked by fog of war but if for some reason your e is on cd, throw your q into a bush to face check, if tribute gold pops up on the screen, you hit an enemy.

Core Items

This is usually what my mid lane build looks like once I'm full builds, some items get swapped situationally. Build in whatever order you feel will benefit you most.
This is generally what my full build looks like as a support, items get swapped situationally. Build in whatever order you feel will benefit you most at the time.

Situational Items

Good against teams with lots of ap, or against an ap chamo in lane eg: annie, fizz. Fun tip: if an enemy has abyssal and they're in an unwarded bush near you, the debuff will pop up on your bar, make sure your aware of those things.
If you notice your burst damage falling off late game, its probably because the enemy team is building magic resist. In that case you should build this to keep your burst potential strong.

VS

Ahri

Hard

If you're in range to throw an ability, so is Ahri.  Shes much more mobile and she can still ult to you while snared by your q.  Try to use your ult while hers is down or she can easily dodge it and if she's close enough, she can prock her ult twice more to turn on you while your largest source of damage is gone.  i personally recommend building zhonyas or abyssal against ahri, as she does a ton of burst damage and you cant do anything back if she hits you with her charm.  Ahris q and e are skill shots (q goes through minions, e does not) so beware and be ready to dodge.

VS

Azir

Medium

He can harass lux with ease but lux does more burst and has longer range.  Try to go in on him after he uses his dash (e).

VS

Brand

Medium

Dodge his spells and lock it down with your q, then go in.  Take advantage of his lack of mobility.

VS

Fizz

Hard

He can use his playful trickster to dodge everything.  Don't ult him until you know his e is on cooldown.  Fizz has a gap close, stay outof range of it.  He's mele, harass hard while he tries to farm early game so you can zone him.

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy

Heim relies mainly on his turrets to do damage, lux can do aoe damage to him and the turrets with her e and kill the turrets super easily.  When he comes out of his turrets a bit, throw your q and all in him.  By killing his turrets you will force him to use more mana.  Take advantage of the fact that you have a much longer range.

VS

Kassadin

Medium

Early game Lux can beat Kas pretty easily, mid game it'll be more even, late game kas will absolutely demolish a lux.  He gets tanky and bursty, more mobile (ult).  Remember that he is an assasin.

VS

LeBlanc

Hard

The thing to remember about Leb is that shes squishy but chances of hitting her with a skill shot are slim.  Level your e first and then q then shield.  If you hit a q you should probably attack more because you can likely kill her.  If not, she does a ton of burst damage and she can easily 2 shot a lux.

VS

Leona

Medium

Don't miss your q and if you do, back up.  Lux is weak without her light binding.  Don't let her push you back in lane or she will just keep zoning you.  Hide in bushes bot lane to use the element of surprise while throwing your q to reduce the chances of enemies being able to dodge it.

VS

Malzahar

Easy

Buying quick silver sash will stop the suppress on his ult.  Voidlings last 21 seconds, keep track of them.  He has no escape and no mobility.

VS

Orianna

Medium

Pretty even match up honestly.  She has more constant damage, lux has more burst and more range.

VS

Ryze

Easy

This is a fairly easy match up to win.  Dodge his skill shots and you're golden.  Lux outranges Ryze and can burst him down fairly easily around level 2 if played right.

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

He isn't mobile, he will have a harder time dodging your skill shots and his shots are pretty easy to dodge.  Lux has far more burst potential.  Watch for gold cards or rest in peace.

VS

Zed

Hard

Zed is Zed, good luck.  Build a zhonyas always always always against zed.  Remember to harass while he tries to farm as he is mele but his abilities make up for that usually.  Dodge his skill shots (shadow) and remember to q behind you when he ults because that's where he's going to appear to ruin your life.  I wouldn't use your ult unless you know his is down, he can use it to dodge yours with ease.  Taking the summoner barrier and pairing it with your shield will help absorb a lot of his damage, especially from his ult.
