Summoner Spells Back to Top

7.png- For the sick jukes/ saves. With the new heal buff, this may be more viable than other spells. This is my new favourite spell to take  as the movement speed is so good on yi.

3.png-Standard Spell I would take. This is good for early ganks because yi does not have innate CC.This helps not only stopping the opponent trading the 1 for 1 when you gank but it also helps slow the enemy so you can alpha strike them.
6.png- If the other team aren't much of a melee type + pretty slippery (where exhaust wont do much) Ex.8_64.png55_64.png103_64.png127_64.png105_64.png45_64.png Ghost also gives better escape.
12.png- For the Gank Happy and your team wards brush for you to TP.
1.png-Their CC is scary Ex.89_64.png127_64.png32_64.png412_64.png,19_64.png Currently its just better to take heal unless they have 4+ hard cc
4.png- I don't usually recommend this but it is a viable spell in and can help chase down enemy.

Why Meditate > Alpha Strike?

Considering Alpha Strike has a low base damage and it scales 100% of your AD no matter what, meditate is more likely going to get you out of sticky situation over Alpha Strike. Although some people may argue Meditate isn't as good anymore, note that if you max Meditate you get a 60% damage reduction WHILE healing. That will be better to get out of that mid game sticky situation over an alpha strike on CD (cuz you probably used it). Secondly, you will be able to last in the jungle longer in the case your alpha strike isn't lucky with the bonus damage. Lastly, if you do it right, your R @ lvl 1 will reset your Q @ lvl 1 if you kill someone (18 second CDR from ult insta-clears the CD on alpha strike)

NOTE: You can get meditate at lvl 3 if you do not have runes / low level.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Standard Start as a jungler
Go warding totem if someone has a sweeping lens but if there are no sweeping lens on your team then take sweeping lens. The orb can help catch some kills
    Buy some of these!

Core Items

Mid Game. I prefer having an avarice blade in my inventory 24/7 until late game. So I would recommend buying the zeal until you have enough for shiv + another avarice NOTE: Wriggle's Lantern may not be as good as it used to be so be warned, lizard elder may be better
Final Build + your jg item
With the new trinity buff this may be very good for you if you are ahead
Mid-Late Game should look like this.
    This can replace statik shiv
This may be useful for quick lifesteal now
This is decent if you have alot of squishy and need aoe
    UPGRADE TRINKET
Consumable for late game or need a comeback

Situational Items

    Dying from hard CC
Other team likes clumping together + you arent being locked down
Alternative to Zepher and you need some MR and tenacity
    Whole team AP
Whole team AD and you need more CC
If the other team gets lots of armor
    Getting Instagibbed

NOTE: All this is situational! Don't follow the item set step by step because it always come down to the situation! Ex. The whole other team is tanky with armor and you are losing the game, you may want3142_32.png before you get3072_32.png because of your E true damage! Make sure you buy at the situation you need it for!

Also, crit is VERY USEFUL with Master Yi because like41_64.png his Q can also cause more crit damage.

FULL BUILD: Swap your statik shiv for a Trinity Force

VS

Aatrox

Medium

It depends, if he's tanky and got his 3153_32.png really early, hes gonna be an unstoppable force. On the other hand, if you can keep him from snowballing, hes not going to be that scary @ mid game. Dodge his jump thing because that knock up may mean your death

VS

Amumu

Medium

His CC locks can hurt but 1v1 he wouldnt be a big problem to you. Be aware most Amumu builds3068_32.png so if try to keep your HP above 50% when fighting him (esp. if you know he still has his ult)

VS

Cho'Gath

Hard

A Good & Fed Chogath will kick your ass. His amount of CC and tankiness will hurt. Try to dodge his Spikes because that knockup can kill you. Take him down with your team.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

Realitively simple unless he gets to late game.

VS

Elise

Easy

Just for the love of god dodge her cocoon (Use Q to dodge)! (Her ONLY hard CC!)

VS

Evelynn

Medium

She can be tricky but to be honest with her nerfs shes wont damage you enough that you can't lifesteal back (Unless ofc shes fed) Just tell your team to get vision wards to prevent her from ganking

VS

Fiddlesticks

Medium

His fear can be scary and it really depends how good the Fiddlesticks is with his Fear+Drain combo

VS

Hecarim

Medium

This depends how fed the hecarim is. Bait out his ult before engaging him and you will have alot better chance

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

He's tanky and he can do a significant amount of damage. Dodge that E+ Q combo so you don't get knocked up

VS

Jax

Hard

If he counterstrikes, GET OUT!!!11!1!!11!!! D<. Don't keep FOR THE LOVE OF GOD attack him while hes counterstriking cuz if he gets you, YOU ARE DEADDDDDD.

VS

Kha'Zix

Medium

He can burst you down so be aware of him but hes similar to you since YOU can burst him down.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

It really depends. If this lee sin is not fed at early he should be fine. If he does get fed though, get to late game because he doesn't scale well into late game.

VS

Malphite

Medium

His natrual armor can hurt but if his ult is down he really is easy because he wont do much other than smack you LOL (just life steal everything back because you outdamage him)

VS

Maokai

Medium

Doesn't do enough damage to you but his stun can mean his team can move in and kill you

VS

Master Yi

Hard

Your only true weakness, YOURSELF. It depends whos more fed really.

VS

Nautilus

Hard

He's pretty tanky, has a lot of CC, and if he focuses you, welp gg. You can't really out run his ult. Try to feed off the other team then you will have a better chance.

VS

Nocturne

Easy

Run out of his fear and then alpha strike back in to kill him. He's realitively easy target because he doesn't lifesteal as fast as you and you do more damage. NOTE: he's stronger than you pre 6 though

VS

Nunu

Medium

Annoying and probably invade you alot but about lvl 11 you can easily kill him and his snowballs wont stop you from killing him. A reminder DO NOT STAND IN HIS ULT. If you really are stuck in his ult, meditate and pray.

VS

Pantheon

Medium

It really depends how good the other pantheon is. Try to alpha strike and meditate only AFTER he stunned you and hope hes not fed.

VS

Rammus

Hard

Because of Rammus' armor + the taunt, it might as well be a 3 second hard CC. Engage only if you know FOR SURE no one else is coming to save him.

VS

Rengar

Medium

He can burst you down pretty quickly but hes also realitively squishy. Engage him with your team because a good rengar can still burst you with the uses of brushes.

VS

Shaco

Medium

It depends how fed he is. Pay attention to which one is the clone and chase down the one that isn't. He's alot easier at mid to late game.

VS

Teemo

Hard

If he binds shots you and hes AP, you're dead. JUST RUN

VS

Trundle

Medium

He really is only stronger than you early game. Mid game you should be fine against him.

VS

Tryndamere

Medium

Can be tricky, try to meditate while he's undying rage.

VS

Udyr

Hard

If he's fed, you probably lost.

VS

Volibear

Medium

Again, you can lifesteal pretty fast BUT if he's fed he may chunk you faster than you can heal. He can probably out run you so i would say bait out his flip first before running away.

VS

Warwick

Medium

He doesn't lifesteal as fast as you at mid game, but his ult can mean your death if you are focused.

VS

Xin Zhao

Easy

You outdamage and if you took exhaust hes not gonna hurt you. Be aware though because if he engaged you while you are ahead, there probably is someone around to try to kill you

VS

Zac

Easy

It depends how tanky he is. If you can kill him early game, hes not going to be a big deal. Secondly, if his passive does come up, alpha strike all his blobs.

Pros vs Cons Back to Top

Pros

- Tons of damage3078_32.png

- Assassin type and can chase almost anyone down

- He can reset pretty easily because he can't be slowed with ult up

- A fed AD yi's Alpha strike can work like old AP Yi's alpha strike. Alpha strike can even crit so it can do a lot of damage.

- His meditate + Alpha strike can easily get you out of situation if you are being focused in team fight.

- Life steals rather quickly because of innate bonus AD + innate bonus attack speed from ult

- Can 1v1 many adcs and come on top

- Can easily snowball/ hard to stop if really fed

- No skill shot so he's relatively easy to pick up and use

- Can easily escape / slippery

- Use your Q to dodge those skill shots and if done right you can be untargetable 114_64.png

Cons

- Squishy

- Can be focused down

- VERY prone to hard CC. Can die from even 1 second of hard CC.

- Falls off @ very late game (past 40 minute mark)

- Weak pre- 6 and weak ganks pre-6

- Slightly selfish champion because lack of AOE and usually takes the kill. He also does not tank in team fights.

- Better at 1v1 than team fights

- Can still lose games even when fed (if the other team focus you down)

- 1 misclick can mean the end of you

- Can't stop the enemy if they are fed

- Has to be fed in order to do well

- Risky champion and many hard CC champ can beat him

When to & When Not to Pick Him Back to Top

Pick him when...

- Enemy has lack of hard CC

- Squishy champions on other team

- Your team doesn't need another tank

- Your team needs more damage output

- Top   Mid is AP

- Other team is relatively late game and you believe you can win before that

When NOT to pick him...

- Enemy team has tons of hard CC

- Armor & Tanky champs on other team

- Your team needs a tank

- Your whole team is already all AD

- Other team is gonna invade you and strong early game

Early/ Mid/ Late Game Back to Top

Early Game

Your new SEASON 4 Route: Smite Blue, Wolves, Smite Red, Wraiths, Wolves, Smite wights (the new camp), recall or  Gank nearest lane or Mid, smite golems, wraiths, wolves, Gank, Golems, Gank, etc.... When you have at least 1.2 k go back for 3093_32.png+ 3106_32.png/1080_32.png. Boots would be nice but not a necessity. Ganking is also optional because your ganks aren't that good till post 6.

Focus on ganking pushed lanes (your team is losing the lane). You have a harder time ganking when your team pushed to their tower because although you can go in lane to gank, you can't dive the tower because your meditate doesn't work well against a tower. When ganking, aim to kick the other team out of lane. It is nice to kill, but there's a good chance you aren't killing anyone till at least lvl 6. NOTE: If you go feral only gank if you can assure a kill!

Mid Game

This is where you are pretty powerful. Gank the squishy champions as they are easily for you to kill. I would say bot lane is the easily to get kills off because in lane ganks can really throw their bot lane out of sync. If the other jungler is weak and you think you can kill him, you can actually camp in their jungle, taking vital monsters and killing them. BEWARE OF THE LANES THOUGH. If mid disappears when you engaged their jungler. You have 2 choices:

- Kill the jungler if you believe you can make a clean getaway.

- Start running if you can't do the above

Teamfights you want to aim for going in for the cleanup, but if you're behind and getting poked hard you should try zigzagging into the enemy (to dodge skill shots) and then q toward their adc. If you kill their carries and die you did your job :)

Late Game

At late game, you start falling off. One reason for this is if he gets focused down, it's gonna hurt. Secondly, he can only really focus one person at a time so you are not as useful in team-fights as 1v1. He does though make a very good backdoor champion at late game so I do recommend split pushing with him. Lastly, if you are in the teamfight, engage rather last because you would prefer entering after all the opponents abilities go down so you do not get focused. Go in more for the clean up than the initiation (which the tank should do). Your job is to take out at this time the most fed person as you are a very strong assassin (probably the adc or apc) with unparalleled speed and damage. Use your Q to dodge those skill shots!
