Cunning tree

Why pick this over the ferocity tree? This is by far the strongest tree there currently is. Especially with Thunderlord's Decree (Explained below). The stats it gives are just far stronger than the stats from the ferocity tree. A lot of the stats from ferocity are minor compared to cunning which has game-deciding points. This is almost always your favorite tree and you will see almost any champion pick this tree over any other especially in High Elo atm.

Wanderer: This mastery is good at every single point in the game, unlike savagery which is only good early. Savagery also doesn't make too much of difference considering jungle clear.

Assasin: This mastery is incredibly good for 1v1's, catching people when they're all alone, and when you've killed their teammates. Such a good mastery as it's so below in the tree and it doesn't have any downsides.

Merciless: Even though it got nerfed it's still pretty good and you would never take Meditation over it unless you're some really spam happy champion like Urgot.

Dangerous Game: Pretty obvious, you're not a support and it's really good for getting out of those close situations which happen pretty often in the early game. This mastery can also be game deciding.

Precision: Ah, this is pretty much one of the main reasons why you take Cunning tree over Ferocity if Thunderlord wasn't so OP. The flat penetration you get from it is just so much better than the % you get from the ferocity.

Thunderlord's Decree: Oh my lord. Thank you Riot for this broken piece of mastery. This is basically like a free sheen. The burst from it is incredibly and will give every single assassin wet dreams just thinking about it. Although the scalings on it aren't good the flat out damage is miraculous. Best keystone for now, but Riot are making changes to the other keystones very soon. We will see how it turns out. (Keystones have been changed but still really pale compared to Thunderlord's Decree, only one worth mentioning on Nocturne is Fervor of Battle but even that isnt really good on this build since we focus on burst when it takes 4 aa to build up the full damage from Fervor + Thunderlord's scales much better throughout the game when Fervor only surpasses Thunderlord's at around level 16 so it isnt really worth.)

Resolve tree

Before we begin covering this up, you might ask yourself "Why would I take this over the ferocity tree?". Well, to begin with Nocturne can be a bit squishy in the jungle and these points really help with that, but more than that, they outweigh the ferocity tree. It's not a big difference you can always pick the ferocity tree instead, but just get prepared to be killed in the jungle as you will have less survivability. The reason as to why will be explained below.

Recovery: This is great extra sustain throughout the game. The other mastery doesn't give a lot of stats to make it worth it unless you're a tank building a lot of armor or magic resist.

Explorer: Ok some junglers choose to take Tough Skin over this, but I simply don't see the reason why since this mastery gives you pretty important stats beyond the first 3 minutes in the game.

Runic Armor: This is really really good combined with all the healing loaded in nocturnes kit. Incredibly good for 1v1 and also incredibly good for just basic sustaining throughout the game especially in the early game combined with Perseverance. Don't take Veteran's over this it will be completely useless.

Perseverance: Incredible sustain. The stats speaks for themselves. Insight won't really be needed since it's not that useful on smite and if we really wanted lower cooldown on flash we would just go lucidity's boots.

I put a second point on W instead of E because of the 20% passive attack speed bonus which is insane combined with you Q AD Steroid.

You want to level up q again because as I stated before it's really well combined with the W especially since it gives 25 bonus AD at level 2 and 105 damage on hit.
Some people like to max W after Q which I don't really get because you get a full second EXTRA from your fear, more damage, and lower cooldown. W isn't such a key deciding factor since its only good 1 spell block and then you're left with a 40% bonus attack speed and 80% for 5 seconds when you block a spell when you already have plenty from devourer, BotRK and possibly Shiv. Plus it's always better 1v1.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Standard start for almost every single jungler. You won't need talisman you have the blue buff and when you get back you will finish your stalker's blade anyways. Talisman is pretty much useless compared to the stats this gives especially on Nocturne.
Get this on your first clear/back.

Core Items

Most of the time this is all you need no defense item at all. I know this sounds very squishy and almost but it is not at all. The enemy team wont have time to react and they'll find you fucking horrifying. Make sure you build in this order Bloodrazor>Botrk>Trinity>Shiv>BC>and then sell boots for zephyr. If you won't need the armor pen from black cleaver and just want more bust go titanic hydra instead.
DEFENSIVE bloodrazor PATH; YOU CAN REPLACE THE BC WITH Trinity IF YOU PREFER THAT BUT i just find BC ALOT more useful as the passive helps with your adc damage and if you have an ad top/mid. Make sure you build it in this order. Bloodrazor>Botrk>DP>BC>Banshees
Nocturne doesn't have that much CC and you don't want to focus on damage over time so burst from stalkers is better. This can be a good pickup if the enemy team have a few tanks, for example Nasus, Malphite, etc.
Honestly this build looks incredibly good. I've only thought it up but never tried it as i haven't been playing too much Noc lately. Devourer>Youmuus>Botrk>Trinity>Statikk. Ionian whenver. Sell ionian boots for an essence reaver when you're done with your build and if you get to that point, sell your devourer for an infinity edge.

Situational Items

Get this only if their ad is fed as fuck. You'll want this as your first priority because this just goes so well with noc.
WHEN YOU ULT AS NOC INTO THE ENEMY TEAM THE FIRST ABILITIES THEY'RE GOING TO BE SPAMMING ON YOU ARE THEIR CC SO YOU'RE PROBABLY GOING TO NEED THIS.
This is a shit item on noc. I don't understand why so many people build it on noc it's just a pure waste of gold. Your main goal is to assasinate and just kill every single person on their team. You wont get the opportunity to stay close to the enemy and utilise the passive to its fullest. + there are other defensive items that give better offensive stats, deadmans plate, titanic etc.
This used to be the main armor item on Noc but after the nerfs Deadmans Plate just outweights it alot more.
Pick this up as a 6th item if you won't need the armor pen from Black cleaver and just want more burst.
Dont ever build this, it's useless compared to everything else you can get.
Greavers and mobis are the boots of cringe. Whenever i see greavers on a nocturne they always build a ravenous hydra with it. This build is from a time when people didnt know what to build on nocturne so they just build this tryndamere build because it seemed the closest to what would fit on him. Only a person who hasnt been playing for 3 seasons would build this on him. sorcerer's and swiftness are the boots of trolls. I only build sorceres when game is over for sure and tell the enemy team that my E will 1 shot them now that i have MPEn boots. Swiftness are for when your game is lost and you build full zeals combined with your Haunting Nocturne that will be the spooky ghost whom you cant escape from. Lucidity are the boots of newbies. I used to build this on nocturne when i was pre 30.
Very tempted to buy this from now on instead of black cleaver. Haven't tried it out yet due to not having been playing noc too much lately. Incredibly good item, probably the strongest on all ad assasins.
Surprised I haven't updated the build with this as it is a really broken item and I have been using it for a long time. Problem is that I haven't really used it on Nocturne as I don't believe he will have that good a synergy because of the lack of sustain and %hp based damage. I will definitely figure out a build with this that will make Nocturne the beast he once was.
Buy this if you think your teammates will feed. It will make you completely useless late game but you won't lose the early game. So if you get this make sure you get enough of an advantage to actually stay ahead.
This is the best build if you're looking to get out of low elo as they will always be split up so its free win for you, even as you get up in higher elo this build will always be the best. The enemy team never expect your damage and they will never have a chance to react. You will always be the one carrying. You take down objectives in a few seconds they will need to be 3-4 people just to stop you and your team will have a free pass doing whatever they feel like. This build just makes you a pure monster.

VS

Amumu

Easy

You wreck him anytime just use your w on his q or ult if he's going full AP. If he goes full tank, you won't have any problem as you shred through all of his armor and health and he does close to no damage.

VS

Bard

Easy

Havent played in a while dont know if this guy is any good

VS

Elise

Easy

You can fuck this bitch up, just block her human q.

VS

Evelynn

Easy

Nerfs hit her pretty hard, you beat her any time.

VS

Jarvan IV

Hard

****J4 is so annoying, he can be 3 lvls behind you, build 2 hp items and he'll be the tankiest of fucker in the game. Try to avoid confronting him and instead try to catch their team 1 by 1 as he really excels at teamfighting.*****
This was written in season 4 and i stopped playing for a while dont know how he is now.

VS

Jax

Medium

Block his e and you'll win the fight.

VS

Lee Sin

Easy

Beware his early counterjungling, if he catches you you're dead. If you can, wait for him at his red/blue and kill him when he's low.

VS

Malphite

Hard

ATKSPEED SLOW, INSANE AMOUNT OF CC, ARMOR, AND SHIELD. STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

VS

Maokai

Easy

NONE KNOWS HOW TO PLAY HIM, EASY.

VS

Master Yi

Medium

I FKING HATE THIS CHAMP, WHEN HE GETS FERAL + YOUMUUS HE WILL FUCK YOUR WHOLE TEAM. BUT YOU CAN 1V1 HIM REALLY EASILY JUST BLOCK HIS Q.

VS

Nasus

Easy

COUNTER JUNGLE HIM AND KILL HIM IN HIS JUNGLE YOU ABSOLUTELY WANT TO STOP HIM FROM FARMING HIS Q MUCH LESS BEING USEFUL FOR HIS TEAM.

VS

Nautilus

Easy

YOU NEVER SEE THIS GUY.

VS

Nocturne

Easy

WTF 2 NOCS?

VS

Nunu

Easy

Nobody plays him anymore sadly.

VS

Olaf

Medium

bitch to play against. just press w when you're fighting with him and you should win.

VS

Rammus

Easy

Don't know how he is season 5 i want to try him out doe.

VS

Rengar

Easy

RENGAR WILL JUMP ON YOU AND PROCEED TO DIE. (REMEMBER THAT IF HE HAS ULT UP YOU WILL SEE AN EXCLAMATION MARK)

VS

Shaco

Easy

Kill him in his jungle. He's useless late game if he falls behind.

VS

Shyvana

Hard

****She's most likely the hardest matchup as she can build tanky and will still fuck you up if she has Devourer and BotRK. Care when she's around just gank as much as you can because your ganks are better than hers. DO NOT TRY TO 1V1 HER SHE WILL ALWAYS WIN UNLESS YOU'RE AHEAD BY 3 LEVELS OR SOMETHING.****
Also written in season 4. I have played against her as Nocturne but i dont know how much things have changed after the sated devourer patch i need to play against her more. Although i do know she has insane dragon control so try doing it before her or keep it warded at all times. However it looks like you wont have a problem 1v1 her throughout the game though your teammates will have a problem with her in teamfights.

VS

Skarner

Medium

If he's trying to get close to you and his team is nearby he'll most likely try to ult so use your W and you'll be fine.

VS

Teemo

Easy

Ban him if you get the chance, he is a bitch going against.
(NOTE: You most likely wont need to ban since nobody plays him, he's considered a trollpick most of the time.)

VS

Udyr

Medium

Every single udyr i have met tried to counterjungle me in some way or another. Always ward your bushes when you can. Late game Block E, easy.

VS

Vi

Easy

just block one of her main spells and you'll kill her.

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

Block his Q knock-up since it's the spell main spell on most Xin's.

VS

Zac

Easy

He does no damage after all of the nerfs. Kill him at his buff.
But he will probably have his return in Season 5 because sustain is op. Will try testing him.

VS

Zed

Easy

Just block his r with your w and you'll be fine.

Notes as Nocturne. Back to Top

EARLY GAME:

Ok, so basically this is how you always want to start out your jungle route. Smite wright after it has been leashed down to 390 hp> Go take your blue buff> Do wolves> Krugs> Red buff Smite at 430> Now this is where it gets special. When you do your golems, start attacking the little one first and kill it so you can hit Lvl 4 and use your E on the big one so you won't die. You then recall and continue your route the same way as before.
When you're killing camps you don't be to be using E as you'll just be wasting mana that way and that's why people are so stupid to believe that Nocturne has mana problems.

You'll want to have your 3726_32.png finished before your 2nd blue buff spawns or after you have killed it.
Tip: If you just do jungle camps or get a kill you won't really finish the devourer in time. The key here is to tax the lanes as much as possible because those minions are worth hella of a lot.

DRAKE IN THE EARLY GAME:
As soon as you get your Devourer set your team up for Drake or do it yourself with a couple of pots and you should be fine. The 5 stacks from killing Drake is crucial as it can change the entire game due to you finishing Sated earlier and just slaughtering people.

Also a lot of people don't know this but your W actually blocks the auto from dragon or one of the spells from baron so use that to your advantage and get some extra attack speed so you can kill it faster.

This also applies to Herald except that you can only solo it when you have either finished a rageblade or botrk.
