Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png and 11.png are the go to summoners for nocturne jungle.
There is no other viable summoner spell to replace flash as you don't have any dash in your kit except for your ultimate.
Flash is really usefull to escape or to close the gap with someone without using your ultimate.

New Runes Back to Top

This is basically the only rune page I'm using at the moment. It's great for assassination and early/mid game snowball.

Electrocute.png?width=32Sudden%20Impact.png?width=32Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=32 and Celerity.png?width=32 help with burst damage, which is Nocturne's core gameplay.
Relentless%20Hunter.png?width=32The%20Ultimate%20Hat.png?width=32 and Celerity.png?width=32 provide mobility and ultimate cd reduction in order to not miss assassination opportunities.

Nothing new with S8.
Maxing nocturneduskbringer.png first seems obvious as it is your main source of damage.
Then you want to max nocturneunspeakablehorror.png second as it gives you more damage and gives you 2 sec of fear instead of 1 sec.
This means you max nocturneshroudofdarkness.png last as having only 1 point in it is enough to help you clear.

Always check if you have enough mana for a full combo before using nocturneparanoia.png. If you're a litle short on mana stay in the jungle (not river) as your mana regen is higher there.

A combo should always start like this : R nocturneparanoia.png - R nocturneparanoia.png - Q nocturneduskbringer.png  (before landing) - AA. Then you can E nocturneunspeakablehorror.png if the enemy doesn't have a large escape or if you can keep the channel up. Use your Z nocturneshroudofdarkness.png when needed (it can be before landing if you're going to step on a caitlyn trap caitlynyordletrap.pngon your way down for example, or during the channel of your E nocturneunspeakablehorror.png to avoid CC spells for example azir ultimate azirR.png).

New tip : you can take nocturneunspeakablehorror.png at level 2 if you start on red buff and want to invade enemy jungler or pull off an early gank on a snowbally lane (riven/talon for example).

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    fastest clear (no tiamat rush)
Safe jungle match up and tiamat rush

Core Items

Rush this item for powerfarming (no gank opportunities or vs powerfarming jungle). This will delay your first lethality item powerspike.
so good for using nocturne ultimate.
Full assassin build. Works well vs a lot of squishies with low peel
Double pen offtank build (with tiamat rush) - More versatile build that can still assassinate carries and survive mid-game
Single pen bruiser build - Allows you to duel hard counters or initiate fights in mid-game.

Situational Items

Chose from these depending on which enemy is a threat
replace your boots with PD when full build
complete your tiamat last with one of these depending on how much health you stacked or if you need more lifesteal.
If you play against a lot of tanks you should consider ingoring you second lethality item and go for a few of these. If you are set behind early game completly ignore lethality items and build theses with tanky items

These builds allow you to adapt from game to game.

Here is what you need to consider before chosing what to build :

- Is there any tank in your team ?
- Does your team have good waveclear and disengage ?
- Will you be able to splitpush or kill enemy splitpushers ?
- Is the enemy team easy to assassinate and do they have poor seige ?
- Will the enemy team stack MR rather than armor (if your team is mainly AP)

If the answer is yes to all these questions don't hesitate to go full assassin. If not you will have to adapt accordingly.

The most crucial moment in a game is when you snowball and get close to the enemy base (T3 / inhib towers). This is when a lot of throws happen. You need to be very careful not to go for random dives as the enemy will get shutdown gold and will be able to defend the base.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Medium

Fiddle gets really powerfull with his ultimate just like nocturne. The game can be decided by wich one uses his ultimates best.

You need to be careful about 1v1ing him at early levels as he will just drain.png you after you nocturneunspeakablehorror.png him. When you have some items you can kill him pretty easily during nocturneunspeakablehorror.png. Just warn your team when you see he'll ult or if you don't see him and overextend.
Don't get baited into oneshotting him if he has zhonia.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium
You should avoid fighting 1v1 until you get some items. Use nocturneshroudofdarkness.png to cancel his blindmonkqone.png if you can't dodge it.

The main goal is to not let him snowball his lanes. Try to use your wards to protect your lanes and hope your teammates aren't blind.

VS

Nidalee

Easy

You shouldn't feel pressured by her unless you play versus a d1/master smurf. Try to jump on her after she jumps or changes form.

VS

Rengar

Easy

Nocturne is like a better rengar after lvl6. The only think you need to worry about is facechecking bushes against him as he can kill you if he surprises you.

If you play around your nocturneparanoia.png you can make better ganks and also countergank him really easily as he will be vulnerable after his rengarR.png.

VS

Sejuani

Hard

sejuani can counter everything you try to do when lvl6. It is risky to use your ult if you don't know where she is. You might wanna keep it for counterganks or ward deep in her jungle so you know where she is.

How to win games Back to Top

There is a new dynamic to adapt to in the early game ! look for early ganks and invades depending on the different matchups.

Rule n°1 : Focus on farming to lvl6. If you get invaded just switch to the other side of your jungle if you can't duel the enemy. If you see the enemy jungler ganking bot or top try to counter jungle the opposite side of his jungle. Don't counter jungle if you think he just cleared his camps or if you get spotted.

Rule n°2 : Use your ult from lane without being seen. Don't go near river as it can be warded. Enemies will try to deep ward in your jungle so try to clear any wards before using your ult. Find the possible targets and keep track of enemy summmoners as it will help you decide who to kill. Avoid wasting your ult on heavy dash champs or peel lanes.
Sometimes it's better to hold on to your ult if the enemy jungler is waiting to counter gank. Don't feel you have to use your ult when it's up as the enemy will soon learn to be ready for it as the game goes on. Look for lone preys and check your items powerspikes !

Rule n°3 : If your laners are roaming and you don't have ult up, try to push their lanes and get towers as enemies will most likely answer the roams.

Rule n°4 : If you are not confident in a 5v5 outcome, try to splitpush and force someone to defend. Be careful to not get collapsed upon (use q+youmuu to escape if needed) . If an enemy squishy comes, you can use your ult to dive him or join your team before the enemy team can regroup.

Rule n°5 : You can be the one engaging in a 5v5 if you are tanky enough and your team can follow up. Your ultimate works really well as a follow up or just to help your team disengage.

Rule n°6 : In mid/late game if a teamfight goes wrong or people get caught, you can try to splitpush and pressure an inhibitor. If the enemy team is trying nashor, you can try to steal it by using blue trinket+ult+q+smite.

Rule n°7 : With global jungler timers on blue and red you can easily find where enemy carries will be and prepare your blue trinket + ult to oneshot them if they are alone (or ask your team for backup if they are not alone). This is a really big buff to nocturne!

Rule n°8 : If you manage to kill the enemy toplaner try to take the herald buff for yourself as you are the jungler and can choose where to use it. Place a pink inside the pit and try to get some vision on enemy jungle entrances. Call for your midlaner if needed or ask him to push in order to keep then enemy midlaner in check.
