This two are the most used options on Ori, since she's a 'control mage' without any dashes she makes a good use of some more survivability.

7.png Is superior but it's hard countere by ignite 14.png.

21.png Is in my opinion worse than 7.png but if you suspect that your enemy will take 14.png go for it.

3.png Useful vs assassins like 238.png or champion like 92.png 107.png.

14.png If you are really confident of getting ahead 1v1

3020.png - Pretty good item considering you will build 3916.png. You will deal almost truedamage vs targets without Magic Resist

3135.png - Usually your 4th item, the most cost-efficient item for any ap carry

3151.png - As a 5th item it will boost your damage vs high hp tanks aswell

3165.png - It's good in teamfights since your damage is AoE so you will apply grevious wounds on every champion hit

Ahri is a decent matchup pre-6. It gets a bit harder post 6 because of Ahri's mobility ahritumble.png.


  • Always stay behind minions, make sure you can't get hit by ahriseduce.png
  • She will use her ahriorbofdeception.png either to farm or to harrass you, probably she will try to do both, make sure to move a lot to make her job harder.
  • ahritumble.png At 6 be really carefull, she can dodge your ult and she can actually 1v1 you.

Easy

This matchup is easy pre-6. After akali starts to get scary. Play aggressive pre-6 and try to deny her as much as possibile


  • orianaizunacommand.png you have to be really precise with your ball movments. Try to have it always on top of the minion she will try to lasthit
  • akalismokebomb.png Makes her invisible but not intargettable, so don't be afraid to use your orianaizunacommand.png orianadissonancecommand.png combo

Easy

Your kit is stronger pre-6. After 6 the lane will mostlikely turn into a farm fest.


  • flashfrost.png Try to dodge this at any cost, sometimes burning your 4.png will be necessary in case of jungler ganks
  • crystallize.png Be really carefull about her wall and about her crystallize.pngflashfrost.png combo

Annie

Easy

This matchup relies A LOT on your ball positioning. You can cause serious trouble to annie if you manage to shield her damage and keep harrassing her with orianaizunacommand.png.


If you are scared of her you can go 21.png 3.png

Aurelion Sol

Easy

Pretty easy lanephase, try to not get pushed too much or you will give him space to roam around (and that's the actual power of aurelion sol).


The most important thing in this matchup is to ward around and be able to call out eventual roams to prevent him getting advantages on other lanes.

Azir

Hard

Azir is an highskillcap champion, if the azir you are facing is good, this matchup can get pretty annoying and hard, as azir has more range then you.


I would suggest to study his playstile and play accordingly to his skill level. (e.g. Trade with him if he seems bad, if not just play safe and farm)

  • azirewrapper.pngazirqwrapper.pngazirr.png is a deadly combo if you are low, so keep in mind to be ready to react to it after level 6.

This matchup is about you dodging his skillshots while outputting damage to him.

This is a skill based matchup. Be really carefull level 1 and 2 because she's actually stronger than you 1v1.

  • Be really carefull about his package passive.

Pretty easy matchup pre 6 that gets way harder post 6.


  • Try to deny her as much as possible pre 6
  • After just shove the lane, unless you have advantages 1v1's will result in you losing

Similar to diana's matchup, you are actually stronger pre 6, once he hit's 6 unless he's bad you will not be able to kill him 1v1.


  • Care about his lv 2, even more if he has 14.png
  • ekkow.png You have to not get caught by this. So care if ekko goes out of sight

Free lane pre-6. It gets a lot harder post 6 as he can 100-0 you with his fizzr.png.

Another pretty easy matchup pre 6. Harrass him and deny him as much as you can.


After 6 you won't be able to kill him and you will have to be carefull about his damage or roam potential.

Kata is a skill matchup, you need to understand her kit and she needs to be good.


  • katarinaw.png stay away from his blades on the ground. If she q's you walk towards her instead of behind (behind it's where the dagger will land)
  • orianadetonatecommand.png YOU need to save it for her katarinar.png. There's no other way for you to interrupt her katarinar.png

Kayle

Easy

Kayle is an easy matchup, you just harrass here while she will shove the lane with her judicatorrighteousfury.png


After a while the lane should become a farm fest.

Medium

Just outscale her and farm for teamfights.


  • Do not stand near your minions and do not let her hit her leblancw.png on both minions and you
  • leblance.pngdodge them !

Lissandra

Easy

You outrange her pretty hard so the lane should be easy to play.

  • Do not stand behind your minions, her lissandraq.png hurts and its range will extend after it strikes the first target
  • Be really carefull about her lissandrae.pnglissandraw.png she can setup ganks pressy easily
  • lissandrar.png is also annoying for the same reason
  • 1.png is almost mandatory in this matchup

Lux

Medium

Lux has more range than you and that's pretty annoying. If you can turn this lane into a farm fest just do it.


  • Be really carefull at 6 to not get his by her luxlightbinding.png

Malzahar

Medium

You are one of the champ that can actually deal with malz decently.


  • malzaharw.png are annoying and helps him to push. As soon as he cast it just orianaizunacommand.png them
  • malzaharr.png be really carefull about it, one gank and you are dead so show respect after 6.

Syndra

Medium

She's fine to deal with if you play carefull and move a lot to dodge her syndraq.png.


Play pretty safe and be carefull at 6. One good combo by her and you are dead.

Talyah can be hard to deal with early on. Her pushing potential is higher than yours.


  • Contest the wave early on without letting her push and roam.
  • Try to match her push as much as you can

Ok listen, you have to respect his talonq.png range. That's the only way he can get to you and kill you.

Xerath has more range than you. Force him to either farm minions with his spell or to harrass you by standing away from your minion waves.

The yasuo power spike level 2 is real. Be really carefull.

Eventually just farm and do not fight when there are minions around.

This lane is all about dodgin his zedq.png. Pre level 6 this lane is pretty easy, after level 6 it gets harder as he has the damage to 1v1 you.

61.png Is a ranged 'control mage'. She has usefull tools to engage and to help her teammates aswell as high damages if decently farm/fed.

Orianna's Early game


61.png Has a good early game. Pre-6 she's pretty strong in most matchups. You have to control your lane and farm as good as you can since Ori is pretty reliant on items to scale. Her ult isn't really that strong in 1v1 scenarios but it's awesome for teamfights. A good orianadetonatecommand.png will swing the game in your favour.

Orianna's Mid Game


61.png Has a fantastic mid game. Keep farming as much as you can and look for those juicy 3/4/5 men orianadetonatecommand.png. You are pretty strong in skirmishes and the most important thing you have to take care of is your positioning around the map.

Orianna's Late Game


61.png Has still a pretty good lategame. Mostly fights will happen at this point of the game and holding your orianadetonatecommand.png till the correct moment is probably the hardest but the most rewarding task you have to do.

61.png Has a pretty versatile kit. You can cc a good number of enemies with your orianadetonatecommand.png. You can peel for your adc with your orianaredactcommand.png. And you can threath a shockwave just by moving the ball orianaizunacommand.png close to your enemies.
Start to think about how the game is going and what you need to do in order to win a teamfight. Sometimes it's better to try to reach and kill the 13/0 enemy ADC while sometimes you will need to peel for your own ADC (and maybe to save your ult just to peel for him).

Generally teamfighting with Orianna isn't easy and you NEED to learn to always have full control of your ball positioning and to make split second decisions.

  • Your orianaizunacommand.png gives you vision, so instead of facechecking and dying send your ball to check a bush first
  • You can orianadetonatecommand.png ->4.png when the ball is on top of you. The orianadetonatecommand.png animation will be perfomed while flashing. And your enemies won't be able to react to it (unless they do predict it)
  • You can use certain spot (terrain of the map) to 'hide' you ball. 
  • If you orianaredactcommand.png a stealthed champion like 35.png your ball won't be seen. This is pretty usefull for setting some cool orianadetonatecommand.png
  • Use your autos a lot, Ori deals quite a lot of damage thanks to her oriannapassive.png passive
  • When your ball is far away from you and goes out of range, it will instantly return to you. Use this to your advantage since the enemy won't expect it.
  • orianadissonancecommand.png on allies will still proc the Summon%20Aerie.png?width=32 shield (dno if it's a bug or intended)
  • With your orianaredactcommand.png the balls travels faster than moving it with your orianaizunacommand.png
  • Set a button to self cast your orianaredactcommand.png. It's almost mandatory on Ori.

So sometimes ago i stumbled upon a video of 'MidBeast' showcasing and analyzing an Orianna main from EUNE. It shows how you can control midlane as Ori and overall it's a pretty well done video to take a look on how to utilize the champion to his full potential.

I started to play lol early in the days (half of the season 1), finished bronze (s1) gold (s2) diamond (every other season) i didn't really try to get higher since i think it would require me too much time.
