In depth


Ferocity

Some people like to go into this tree with their 12 points (see section  "Other ways to play Poppy masteries/runes")

Fury vs Sorcery - Sorcery does really well with Poppy's kit where she uses her spells to deal the dmg
DoubleES vs Feast vs ExposeW - Feast to help with the early sustain can switch for DoubleES if you feel brave
Vampirism vs Natural talent - This depends on the lane, natural talent against champions you can go hard on and vampirism against champions you need to sustain against however I would pick natural talent if going into this tree
BountyH vs Oppressor - Oppressor is better toplane and deals bonus dmg on your autos and delayed q when you combo enemy into walls with e, Bounty hounter if  you think you gonna own your lane and can roam but is risky and doesn't really add something onto Poppy's gameplay

More than this I wont recomend going but for maybe a trollish AS Poppy maybe Battering blows+Fervor is the way to go


Cunning

This is the usual place to dumpster your 12 points in but some go for thunderlords so I will go all way with the analysis in this tree

Wanderer vs Savagery - Savagery helps with farming and I think getting some minions per game thanks to this mastery is more worth than a bit faster roaming or running to lane
Runic vs Secret vs Assassin - Secret because im allways starting with corruption potion and this masterie helps me sustain better, some people like assassin because of the added dmg but I don't think it's worth the tradeoff off the sustain
Merciless vs Meditation - Merciless, mana shouldn't be a problem thanks to corruption potion giving it and the bonus dmg is really good
Bandit vs DangerousG - Bandit, Poppys passive acts like a melee attack so it proc the 10 gold per auto against the enemy so just a few of passives on the enemy and it can help you get a small bit of gold lead.
Precision vs Intelligence - Precision, you wont use the 45% cdr anyway
Stormraiders vs TLD vs Windspeaker - TLD, it gives you a huge combo with E-Q-Auto or Q-E-Q or Passive-E-Q


Resolve

This is the best tree for Poppy right now and I recomend you going heavy into this.

Recovery vs Unyielding - Recovery, it's best for the sustain but unyielding can be really good if you are against a melee that can't poke you and you just want to all in him.
Explorer vs Tough skin - Tough skin, you are not going to run around river and bushes so much that it will be better than tanky bonuses
Runic armor vs veteran - Runic armor it helps sustain with your corruption potion, gives your passive a bigger shield but this is more of a pick one you like the most, however I like to play with runic armor and i do it on almost all champs I play in the toplane so I guess it's up to the personal choice
Insigt vs Perseverance - Insight is super good because of the 15% cd on the summs, you get so much more tp plays done this way and perseverance is just a noob trap
Swiftness vs LegendaryG - Swiftness I like to wait a bit with the boot upgrades and this also gives me the chase potential+iceborn gauntlet is a good combo
Grasp vs SOA vs BOS - Graps every day in the toplane this works like the bandit mastery where your passive acts like a meele attack and gives you the heal this is really good

Iron Ambassador

INNATE: Poppy periodically throws her buckler on her next basic attack, to then fall near her target, where it remains for up to 4 seconds. If the buckler kills its target, it bounces back to Poppy automatically. Enemies can step on the buckler to destroy it.
Iron Ambassador Shielded
The buckler grants bonus range and 20 - 190 (based on level) bonus magic damage. When Poppy picks up the buckler, she Iron Ambassador Shielded shields herself for 15% maximum health for 5 seconds.

Her passive acts like a melee attack and hencefort applies masteries as bandit and grasp, items as iceborn gauntlet.
You try to use this as much as possible on your enemy in the lanephase and this can turn dives around completly I have survived many early fights by flashing onto the buckler to get the shield and then E-Q the enemy to death


Hammer shock

ACTIVE: Poppy smashes the ground in front of her, dealing physical damage to all enemies hit.

The impacted ground becomes unstable, Slow icon slowing enemies standing on it before erupting after 1 second, dealing the same physical damage to all enemies hit.

This is a 2-part spell where the first animation does some dmg and most of it comes after 1 second. This is why the most used combo is Q-E-Q so you are sure to get the second Q dmg off, this works with her ult to where you can Q-R-Q and the whole dmg goes off. This is the dmg spell off Poppy and you should max this first. Don't be afraid to use it just for the initial dmg and the slow, sometimes you don't need to be sure to get the second part down.


Steadfast Presence

PASSIVE: Poppy's total armor and magic resistance are increased by 12%. If she falls below 40% maximum health, she gains Stubborn to a Fault Stubborn to a Fault, doubling the bonus to 24%.

ACTIVE: Poppy gains bonus movement speed for 2.5 seconds and generates a barrier around her for the duration, causing all enemies who dash within to be Grounded icon knocked down and dealt magic damage.

Steadfast Presence can only block one dash per enemy.

This is what make the difference from a good Poppy to a bad and this is the reason why Poppy counters some champions (Riven) superhard. This spell can generate a chain stun of E-W-R.  This spell can be cast mid running and doesn't have a cast time. This spell you max last.


Heroic charge

ACTIVE: Poppy dashes to the target enemy, dealing them physical damage and Airborne icon carrying them along with her.

If they collide with terrain, she deals the same physical damage to them again and Stun icon stuns them.

This spell can be used to jump over walls to buffs or to escape out of jarvans ult, this spell can be used in many ways and you can see it in the combo section.
This uses champion made terrain as walls like Anivia W and Trundle E.


Keeper's verdict

FIRST CAST: Poppy channels for up to 4 seconds, retaining the ability to move but Slow icon slowing herself by 15% for the duration. Keeper's Verdict's cooldown is set to 30 seconds if its channel is canceled.
SECOND CAST: Poppy smashes the ground, sending out a shockwave that travels in the target direction. When it hits an enemy champion, a massive hammer erupts, dealing physical damage to all enemies around it.

Impacted enemies are Airborne icon knocked back towards their fountain. Releasing the ability instantly cancels the channel, damaging and Airborne icon knocking up all enemies around Poppy instead for 1 second.
Poppy has Sight icon sight of Airborne icon airborne enemies and they are rendered untargetable for the duration, with the distance increasing based on how long Keeper's Verdict was channeled.

This spell can be used to create a teamfight where 4 members of the enemy team can be knocked back in midlane, this spell has very many sides to it and you can use it in a very big way of variation like Lee Sin's ult.

    This will allways be good on you and it works better than any other start item
    Can be used against a Pantheon, however corruption potion is better
    Against AD lane
    Against AP lane

Core Items

    I build this almost every game

Situational Items

    Against a lot of AD
    Enemy got tons of AP
    Some people likes it on Poppy, I don't think it's that good
    Nerfs hit to hard not worth it anymore
    I don't like it that much anymore but i build it when i don't feel that I need randuin
    Vs full AD
    Nerfs hit hard no idea to pick it up anymore
    Buy if fullbuild

I often go for half finnished items if I feel I can get away with it. Example is against 57.png where you can build spectres cowl and then finnish sunfire or build sheen to get more dmg down in the fights.


Tanks stats are all over town right now and you can allways build tank and still do tons of dmg as Poppy

I'm a master player on EUNE and one of my favorite champions is Poppy and I feel that I got her kinda mastered and know the combos good right now.


I'm by no means even close to being the best at Poppy

Why Poppy Back to Top

Poppy is right now at a 47% winrate in plat+ and I feel that she is much better than that.


Poppy is a champion that has some of the most gameplay changing E and initiating fights with her is so good and you can do it in so many ways. Also she has a ranged autoattack who make you feel better in the laning phase.
