Summoner Spells Back to Top

[4/5] 4.png + 12.png : Standard and most used pair of Summoners Spells I go with, Mid or Top.

[3/5] 4.png + 6.png : You really need to know what you're doing if you're going with this. In my opinion, only lane you have the option of grabbing this pair of Summoner Spells is Mid.

[3/5] 4.png + 3.png : Haven't found the need to use this as a pair yet but if you feel like it would make laning safer       then go for it.

Masteries Back to Top

Ferocity Tree:

Sorcery: 2.0% Increase in ability damage meaning your Abilities deals more Damage.

Double Edged Sword: Deals 3% additional damage.

Natural Talent: I take this for better Scaling in Mid-Late game.

Bounty Hunter Vs. Oppressor: Preference, I personally take Oppressor just because I'm more focused on my lane from Early-Mid game. But if you're a team player then Bounty Hunter isn't a bad choice.

Cunning Tree:

Wanderer Vs. Savagery: Preference, If you like to roam a lot go with Wanderer. I'm more focused on farming and my own lane so Savagery is my personal pick.

Assassin: 1v1 Lane and 2.5% increased in damage.

Merciless: 5% Increased in damage. 1-shot or 2-shot squishies late game.

Dangerous Game Vs. Bandit: Preference, I personally like Dangerous Game.

Precision Vs. Intelligence: Preference, I chose Precision for Mid-Late game scaling.

Stormraider's Surge Vs. Thunderlord's Decree: Perference, my play style is kite and re-position as fast as I can and since Ryze's kit already has a bonus Movement Speed amp, Stormraider's Surge makes you more insanely mobile. Thunderlord's Decree is not a bad choice since it helps you win early trades but it's more of a aggressive Keystone and if you are running Thunderlord's Decree then getting kills to snowball early in lane is a must. Basically you're trading mobility for more damage output. Also, if you're going with Thunderlord's Decree instead then consider changing your Runes, Quints, to Ability Power Runes instead.

My own quick explanation of how Ryze's abilities works. spellflux.png Spell Flux can spread if stacked twice on a target or if a target already marked with spellflux.png Spell Flux is killed by one of your abilities. spellflux.png Spell Flux is also what empowers overload.pngOverload's damage and runeprison.png Rune Prison's duration.

For more detail one each individual spells continue reading:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ryzepassive.png
Arcane Mastery
INNATE: Ryze's maximum mana increases by 5% per 100 AP.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

overload.png
Overload
Cost: 40 Mana
Cooldown: 6 seconds

Passive:Ryze's other basic abilities reset Overload's cooldown and generate a Rune for 4 seconds, up to a maximum of 2.

Active: Ryze unleashes a runic blast in the target direction, dealing magic damage to the first enemy struck and conuming all of his Runes: If Ryze consumes 2 Runes, he shields himself from up to 60-200(based on level) (+60% AP) (+ 3% bonus mana) damage for 2 seconds and gains bonus Movement Speed for the duration

Magic Damage: 60 / 85 / 110 / 135 / 160 / 185 (+ 45% AP)
Bonus Movement Speed: 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50%

If target is marked with spellflux.png Spell Flux: Overload deals increased damage, based on Spell Flux's rank, and spreads to all nearby enemies marked with flux, consuming the mark on all targets.

Bonus Damage: 30 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100%

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

runeprison.png
Rune Prison:
Cost: 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 Mana
Cooldown: 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 Seconds

Active: Ryze instantly deals magic damage and roots the target enemy for 1 second.

Magic Damage: 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 (+ 20% AP) (+ 1% bonus mana)

If target is marked with spellflux.png Spell Flux: root duration is doubled to 2 seconds.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

spellflux.png
Spell Flux:
Cost: 40 / 55 / 70 / 85 / 100 Mana
Cooldown: 2.25 Seconds

Active: Ryze hurls an orb of runic energy at the target enemy, dealing magic damage and marking them with flux for 3 seconds, causing his next ability against them to consume the mark and gain bonus effects.

Magic Damage: 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 (+ 20% AP) (+1% bonus mana)

If target is marked with spellflux.png Spell Flux: Spell Flux spreads to all nearby enemies, applying its damage and marking them with Flux.

Enemies killed by any of Ryze's abilities while marked with Flux also spreads Flux to nearby enemies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

desperatepower.png
Realm Warp:
Range: 1500/3000
Cost: 100 Mana
Cooldown: 120 Seconds

Active: Ryze channels for 2 seconds, during which he opens a portal around him, and upon successfully completing the channel, he and all allies within the portal blink to the target location.

Ryze can move around and cast spells during this channel, which can be interrupted by both silencing and immobilizing effects.

Realm Warp can only be ranked up twice, with ranks availabe at levels 6 and 11. Instead overload.pngOverload has 6 ranks.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Sapphire Crystal + Refillable Potion
    Alternative Choice

Core Items

Archangel's Staff, Rod of Ages, Rabadon's Death Cap and Void Staff

Situational Items

Abyssal Scepter, Zhonya's Hourglass and Morellonomicon
    Boots (More detail down below)
    Guardian Angel
    Frozen Heart
    Rylai's Crystal Scepter
Starting Items:
Sapphire Crystal + Refillable Potion

You can start Sapphire Crystal + 3 Health Potions instead if you're still getting used to Ryze's game play.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Item(s):
Tear of the Goddess & Catalyst of Aeons in that order. You can also buy Boots of Speed but that's personal preference.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First Finished Item:
Finish Rod of Ages first before anything.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finishing Core build and Items:
If you have stacked your Tear of the Goddess(750/750) then finish it into Archangel's Staff. If not then buy Boots of Swiftness. If your Tear of the Goddess is still not fully stacked yet and you have already finished your Boots then start working on your next item which should be one of the following: Morellonomicon, Abyssal Scepter, Frozen Heart.

Morellonomicon: 20% CD Reduction, applies Grievous Wound to enemy champions below 35% health and kills or assists restore 20% of your maximum mana. Usually build against 2.png8.png9.png11.png16.png19.png27.png36.png37.png39.png41.png48.png50.png57.png75.png76.png119.png120.png122.png154.png266.png267.png420.png.

Abyssal Scepter: + Ability Power, + Magic Resist, 10% CD Reduction and reduces Magic Resist of nearby enemies by 10-25. I only get this item against bursty/1-shot champs like 1.png38.png7.png134.png45.png. I rarely build this item but if you feel the need to, go for it. I personally value Morellonomicon over this item.

Frozen Heart: + Armor, + 400 Mana, 20% CD Reduction. 2.png11.png15.png19.png23.png24.png39.png48.png77.png157.png266.png.

Notice how I only listed 3 of the Situational items, it's because those are the most common items I build next depending on the enemy's Champions and team composition.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Void Staff: An early Void Staff is pointless, a late Void Staff is useless. Knowing when to build this and having the resources to build this item immediately really means a lot and can change the current state of the game. That's why I'm more focused into farming my lane instead of looking for kills though granted getting kills is also a good thing and could possibly lead you into an early snowball giving you more available options. I usually build this as my 4th or 5th item after Rod of Ages, Archangel's Staff, Morellonomicon and Boots of Swiftness.

The only time I would immediately rush Void Staff as my 3rd item after Rod of Ages and Archangel's Staff is when I already see that at least 3 people on the enemy's team is already building Magic Resist(MR).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rylai's Crystal Scepter: Makes kiting a lot easier but beware, not knowing how to utilize this item to it's max potential can really backfire on you when you could be build a different item which would benefit you more.

Zhonya's Hourglass238.png Zed, nothing much to say here. Rush it after Rod of Ages if your Tear of Goddess is no fully stacked yet.

Guardian Angel: I have never bought this item and I have never found the need too. Food for thought.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this section I will be listing the different available choices of Boots and what I think of them in the order of Highest Value > Lowest Value.

Boots of Swiftness: +55 Movement Speed and Slowing Effects are reduced by 25%. Combine this with Stormraider's Surge's Slow Resistance you have no problem running like a madman. My personal choice of Boots.

Ionian Boots of Lucidity+45 Movement Speed, 10% CD Reduction and reduces Summoner Spell's by 10%. Only grab this item if you can cap at 40-45% CD. If not, don't get it at all. 20% CD from Morellonomicon or Frozen Heart and 10%  from Blue Buff = 30%.

Mercury's Treads: +45 Movement Speed, +25 Magic Resist and 30% Tenacity. Build against heavy AP comps or if you find yourself getting caught in sticky situation or CC'ed to death.

Ninja Tabi: +45 Movement Speed, +30 Armor and blocks 12% of the damage from basic attacks. Never found the need for this item but if your play style is very passive/defensive and enemy's team comp is heavy AD then a decent choice.

Sorcerer's Shoes: +45 Movement Speed and +15 Magic Penetration. Plain and Simple.
