Summoner Spells Back to Top

This is season 6 top lane.  I shouldn't have to explain flash and teleport.

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

All of the masteries are focused around sustaining through the laning phase because Sejuani has no natural sustain.  Feast, recovery, tough skin, perseverance, and grasp of the undying all greatly increase your recovery in lane.

For the rest of them:

All of your damage is from abilities so sorcery

Vampirism and natural talent could both be good choices but spell vamp does almost nothing once you get your health built up a little

Oppressor is an obvious choice as you are constantly slowing enemies so it will be active almost the whole game

Veteran's scars is better because Sejuani doesn't have heals or a shield and the early health also helps with early damage on your W

Swiftness is better than legendary guardian for playing in lane because most champions have at least one form of cc in which case the 15% tenacity will help you a lot more than a lousy 3 armor and MR from a single enemy

sejuanipassive.png  Frost allows you to not have armor runes and still have decent early armor.  It is a pretty basic passive that is helpful in all stages of the game, but it is especially helpful early game.

sejuaniarcticassault.pngArctic Assault can be used in 2 ways.  It is best used as a second flash that can dodge enemy abilities and go through walls.  Only use it as an initiation or trading tool if you are certain to secure a kill with it.

sejuaninorthernwinds.pngFlail of the Northern Winds is what makes Sejuani Sejuani.  Nearly all of the damage you do throughout all phases of the game comes from this.  It scales off of the enemy's max HP, your max HP, and your ability power.  This is the reason that everything you build is focused around getting the most health possible.

sejuaniwintersclaw.pngPermafrost is a strong AoE slow that can be used in trades simply to do damage or as a slow for chasing or running from enemies.

sejuaniglacialprisonstart.pngGlacial Prison is one of the biggest game changing ults there is.  It has a long range, huge AoE stun for a long duration, and deals a ton of burst damage.  If you are able to hit 3 enemies with this while your team is in position to follow up, you will win the fight 99% of the time.  It goes through minions and monsters so you don't need to worry about it being blocked.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Against auto attackers or people with single target abilities. Shield is better in the majority of games.
Against passive laners like Nasus and Mundo or AOE champs like Cho.

Core Items

Should be built as early as you can afford to get it.
    2nd item If against AP
    2nd item If against AD
Merc treads in most cases---ninja tabi if all enemies are ad.

Situational Items

    If you need more armor
If you need more magic resist
Warmog's is always a good item
If you are doing well and need to carry your team.
    My favorite build
ROFLSTOMP build. Only do this if you are so far ahead it doesn't really matter anymore. I didn't list a 6th item because if you are able to use this build the game should be done before you even finish your 5th item.
First back you should try to get 1001.png and one of the following depending on the matchup 1031.png3751.png3211.png.  Proceed to work on 3027.png after one of those three items is built.

If a matchup is difficult, build 3068.png or 3065.png before 3027.png and then work on rod after you know safe in laning phase.

3027.png By far the best item to get as a lane Sejuani.  She scales off of both HP and AP meaning with only this item she does tons of damage.  The mana and catalyst passive allows you to basically spam spells non stop and never run out of mana.

It is pretty easy to decide what to build on Sejuani with the items I listed being good in almost any game.

3083.png Get this if enemies have high burst damage, you are facing off against the enemy team throwing pokes frequently - if you have this you can stand in front and eat the skill shots with little consequence as you can quickly heal back to full, or you simply don't need any more resistances.

3143.png Enemies have champs like 23.png41.png104.png80.png 157.png or a fed adc.

3110.png Enemies are reliant on high attack speed to do damage.

3742.png You are heaving trouble sticking to enemies.  This is rarely a problem so this shouldn't be built often.

3102.png This should only be built if you don't need any armor.  The spellshield is worthless because as the tank that you are, you should want enemies to waste abilities on you rather than hitting your team mates with them.

3151.pngThis item adds tons of damage.  The passive is almost always doubled for you and like rod, it gives both HP and AP.

3001.png Only get this if both teams are dealing a lot of magic damage and you are ahead.  This is very situational.

3190.png vs 3060.png You should only get banner if it can be used against an AP champion like  27.png74.png30.png17.png to stop them from pushing or if you have baron or plan to get it soon.  The banner active on a buffed cannon minion is insane for pushing down towers.

How to Sejuani Back to Top

Laning

Early game you should look to freeze lane just outside of your tower for easy ganks.  Ask for a gank every time your ult is up and you are almost guaranteed a kill every time.  If there looks to be a good teleport opportunity for dragon or ganking bottom lane push the lane hard by using W on the melee minions, moving back to the caster minions and activating e.

There are three options of what you can do after the early game is done.

Push lane - the enemy has good sustain with little chance of killing you but you also have little chance of killing them.  Push to the tower to try to deny them of as much CS as possible.  Look to make plays elsewhere if this is the situation by stealing enemy jungle camps, roaming mid, or teleporting bottom lane.

Evenly trade in the middle of the lane - You are not losing lane and are confident you can out trade your opponent.

Continue freezing - You are consistently being out traded and need jungle help or are afraid of the enemy jungler.

Sejuani is super easy to learn and there aren't really any tricks or combos to her kit.

Really the only combo worth mentioning is what I described above to push the lane.  Use W on the melee minions, run up to the caster minions while auto attacking the enemy and activate E once all of the enemies are marked by your passive.

Against squishy ranged champions you should play aggressively after level 3.  Using Q onto them into W and E when they try to run should take at least 1/2 their hp at level 3.

Against melee champions save your Q for either all in fights going for a kill or as an escape.  It has a fairly long cooldown so if you use it trading you lose the ability to use it if the enemy jungler comes.

Team Fights

In team fights your main objective is to hit as many people with your ultimate as possible unless an assassin charges in on your ADC and your support isn't able to peel in which case use your ult on the assassin.  The ideal situation is to engage with your ult before the enemy has a chance to do their own engage.  If you can hit 3 or more enemies with your ult the fight is as good as won.

After ulting there are 2 choices.  Protect your carries or dive into the enemy team and do as much AOE damage as possible.  If your support and jungler are unable to peel then stay with your carries being sure to slow anyone who wants to come near them.  If you do not need to peel then run into the middle of the enemy team hitting as many enemies as possible with your W before slowing them with E.  Try not to use Q as an initiation because it is important to save as an escape or a way to dive back to help your team if they need you to peel after initiating.
