Summoner Spells Back to Top

Pretty much always. You can swap ignite out if you'd like to. 12.png or 3.png could be viable, but definitely not the best.
Why?
The benefits of ignite are as follows:
-Secure a kill
-Allows you to out duel (almost) anyone in any counter jungle situation.
-Psychologically (subconsciously) tells your teammates you're going all-in. Think about it, you see someone ignited; you know it's time to go ham.

Okay, but when do I go 3.png?
I usually go exhaust if these present situations present themselves:
-My team doesn't have exhaust
-They have multiple assassins
-They have multiple ADC (Graves jungle etc.)

Even then, I sometimes just stick to 14.png because I can secure kills and snowball.

11.png is just a no brainer

New Runes Back to Top

These new runes.
I sometimes alternate between Electrocute and Dark Harvest.
WHY??

ELECTROCUTE:

Damage is better early game.
It gives you better burst than Dark Harvest for the first half of the game.
That is essentially your time to shine.
You should be applying pressure and taking control of the game; Electrocute helps you do that better than Dark Harvest would.

DARK HARVEST:

Better late game. You will deal more & more damage as the game goes on.
This is really good because it helps you NOT fall off, but there is a downside.
By taking Dark Harvest, you are sacrificing your early game. You can definitely still secure kills etc. but your damage will be lower than Electrocute until you hit the 150~ stack mark.

SECONDARY RUNES:

I change these up quite often. This is what I currently run.

You need a few points in Q or else it doesn't last nearly as long as you would like.
You can choose to max Q over E, but I typically like to put 2 points in Q then max E.

Situational Items

Okay, so what gives? Dafuq are these items?

ONE-SHOT.

So let's start with ONE-SHOT35.png. Do NOT upgrade Machete, and do NOT upgrade Tiamat.
You want to essentially rush Tiamat ASAP. It is the best item for 35.png and you should ALWAYS build it first.
The only exception, is to MAYBE build Mobi Boots, but even that is not really recommended in most situations.
Why no Hydra? For the gold, Hydra will not give you as much burst. Your job as DAMAGE35.png is to completely delete one of their carries. By rushing Shiv and IE after Tiamat you will be able to do this. Your power spike comes A LOT faster if you don't spend the gold to get Hydra.
NOTE: Your 3 item power spike is when you can completely delete the enemy ADC (Assuming you aren't already ridiculously ahead, in which case you can do this before hand)
Tiamat - Shiv - IE

USUAL PATH:

3077.png > 3117.png > 3087.png > 3031.png > 3147.png > 3036.png > Finish 3074.png > SELL 3087.png for 3078.png > 2140.png

3078.png is currently an extremely GREAT buy on Shaco for any build; DAMAGE or TANK.

DAMAGE.

Follow the build path. I alternate between this build and the ONE-SHOT35.png build.
The difference? The name.
If you are good at 35.png it isn't going to matter all that much what you build.
I choose between them depending on who I'm against, how my team is doing, and how I'm doing.
This build focuses on more sustained damage, and more all-around DPS rather than simply bursting a high-priority, low-HP target.
It also helps you farm a lot better in the jungle.

USUAL PATH:

3077.png > 3117.png > 1412.png > 3147.png > FINISH  3074.png or 3087.png  then FINISH 3074.png > 3026.png  > SELL 3087.png for 3078.png > 2140.png

NOTE: Finishing 3074.png depends on if you need more SUSTAIN or BURST/SPLITPUSH.
SUSTAIN: 3074.png first.
BURST/SPLITPUSH: 3087.png first.

TANK.

The TANK35.png build revolves around stacking HP for survival + damage (Titanic) and a nice little shield from 3155.png.
Trust me, you will be decently tanky; able to absorb A LOT of damage, and also very slippery thanks to your Q and R.

USUAL PATH:

3077.png > 3047.png > 3078.png > 3155.png > 1401.png > LAST DEFENSIVE ITEM THAT YOU NEED or FINISH 3748.png or 3156.png

This build path is COMPLETELY situational. 1401.png offers you HP but no MR or Armor.
Any defensive item, or damage item that offers you defense (IE: 3071.png or 3026.png) will work.
NOTE: I usually take Dark Harvest when playing TANK35.png

MOVEMENT.

Ok so I will explain BOOT options here.

3020.png Below average. so really, why these? These boots give you burst. I used to rock these 24/7.

3117.png are REALLY good. So good in fact I build them every game. They help you get from point A to point B, but that is about it. Your ganks will be godlike because you are able to not only get there faster, but you can Q from further away and still manage to get to your target. The only problem is that they offer you NO stats. You need to rely on ganks working.

3047.png Above average. These make you a God/Tankier.

3009.png Above average. If you're not sure what to buy, you can never go wrong.

3006.png Below average. They give you godly attack speed, which is good for dueling.

3158.png MEH. That's all I can say. Though 35.png does profit from CDR, your main concern as DAMAGE is BURST. You will not have enough time to benefit from these.

VS

Amumu

Easy

Meh.Pre-6 he's not really anything to call home about, and you can dodge his bandage toss with your Q.
Your ultimate also can negate his ult's stun if you time it right!
If you counterjungle, catch him doing a buff with W + Ignite + E and goodnight Amumu. Go cry back at your Nexus.

VS

Ashe

Easy

Easy. She has no escapes and her ult doesn't stun for very long close range. Build DAMAGE and enjoy 1-shotting.

VS

Blitzcrank

Hard

Annoying. Throw a Box down at 0:40 in a bush and hope he trips it if he comes to fuck with you. Ask your team for help protecting.

VS

Elise

Medium

Her CC is easy to dodge, but your Q might not always be enough to get away from her if need be. You'll need to out play her. 1v1 she hurts, try and get her to miss her stun and maybe her spiderling too before you commit.
NEVER all-in her without your ult.
Unless you're both below level 6, then make sure she trips a box and eats a fear and some box damage before/during your fight. All-in-all, try to avoid drawn out skirmishes with her. Gank and countergank.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

FEAR VS FEAR. His wins BUT you have ignite, and your fear could disrupt his Drain.
His jungle isn't fast and you shouldn't worry too much about him coming into your territory.
If you do counterjungle him and you see him, chances are he'll be using his Drain on a creep so it will be on CD. Easy money, break a few sticks and get a few bucks.

VS

Gangplank

Easy

Have not seen a jungle GP in a long time, but here's the matchup in case you encounter it.
GP's Q's do a lot of damage in lane. Jungle GP will not have the time to poke you down like GP top would. 1v1 you own him. Just don't sit in his ult.
If he runs don't chase unless he's low and you can get a kill. THAT'S when he'd have the opportunity to kite you with Q.
Example of 3153_32.png being a good pick-up. Slow him after he cleanses your E or vice verse. Plus a lot of GP's will not just build straight damage anymore. BoRK does more damage based on HP!

VS

Lee Sin

Hard

Not always Hard, but his skills DO counter you. You can DEFINITELY out play Lee Sin all game. "Hard" does not mean he wins, and does not mean you should be afraid. Lee Sin is listed as "Hard" because of his nature of countering stealthed units.

Clowning the Early Game Back to Top

So what is your role as 35.png early game?
Your role is to apply pressure. More pressure than any champion possibly could.
You have a few ways of doing this, but I'll focus on a few.
Keep in mind there are MANY ways to adapt to a game of League of Legends, so to simply write-out a formula would be impossible.
We'll just look at ideal situations you can keep in mind during your gameplay to help you improve.

GANK.

No brainer right? Not quite. You not only need to gank, but you need to gank EFFECTIVELY.
You NEED to get kills, blow summoners, instil fear etc..
I will touch on HOW to gank in a whole other section, but for now we're looking at what your role is.

Early game, you need to get your teammates ahead (and yourself). One of the ways of doing this is by ganking.
A simple lane gank or river gank can lead to a kill or a blown summoner which will help your team out tremendously.

KEEP THIS IN MIND:
When you use your Q to gank, you will be stuck without it for quite some time; be careful not to die.

CAMP.

If you've ever been camped by 35.png you know how annoying it can be.
Pick a lane that offers you some CC, is easily gankable, or someone who snowballs hard; and just continuously gank it.
To the point where you even become bored of getting kills.
Wait for them to type in All-Chat, then gank them about 5-6 more times.
You will not be helping your entire team out, but you will ensure one lane is completely dominated.
You & that lane will snowball hard and carry.
It is easiest to camp top lane, but if you can get mid or bot ahead, that is definitely priority.

NOTE: Look for their weak link.
If you see their top, mid or bottom lane is TERRIBLE, exploit them.
If the enemy bottom lane is playing stupidly aggressive, or top lane just never wards; THAT MEANS YOU CAMP. You make them go 0-11 because that is what they deserve.

Clowning the Mid Game Back to Top

Okay so laning phases are coming to an end. You hopefully have taken down an enemy turret or two and either one or both teams are starting to group. This is where A LOT of 35.png games are decided.
Why?

Because 35.png is an amazing EARLY GAME jungler. His MID GAME is also VERY good, but you need to transition effectively. If your early game suffered, then you can expect to struggle in the mid game as well.
That's not to say what happens in the early game will gimp you all game. You can always look to catch people out of position and STILL get yourself fed.
That goes the other way as well. If you had an amazing early game, you can still struggle in the mid game if you don't keep up the pressure.
This is where you will see a separation between a GOOD35.png and a BAD35.png.
So let's break a couple things down.

MID GAME WITH A GOOD EARLY START.

Had a good early game? Got a couple kills? KEEP GOING. Keep the pressure. Don't let up. Be in their fk'ing faces.
That being said, keep one thing in mind. DO NOT... I REPEAT... DO NOT START GETTING CAUGHT.
Now is definitely not the time to start dying. 35.png is very squishy if not built tanky, and is very open to dying if his abilities are on cooldown. Make sure as you transition from a good early game to mid game, that you keep up pressure but always play smart.

MID GAME WITH A BAD EARLY START.

Had a bad early game? Things didn't work-out for you? It happens. Quite often!
If you want to be a GOOD35.png and reach high ELO game play, you will need to know how to rebound from this. It's all a learning experience but here are a few things you can do.
Always look to catch people out of position. That is your main role as Shaco.
Don't look to force fights, but 35.png is one of the best at punishing enemies for being out of position.

SECURE OBJECTIVES. Towers help your entire team. Dragons help as well, so do them!

VISION. This is so key, and it very often overlooked. If you know where enemies are, you can predict where they will go, and you can also see who is alone or see which fights will work out in your favor if you decide to fight.

SPLIT PUSH. This is how a lot of hopeless games can be won. Yeah, you offer almost nothing to your team if they are getting destroyed. But sometimes trading towers is all you can do. There will also be games where your team is able to hold off and wave clear 4v5 and you will get a tower or two for free. In the very rare occasion (mostly in lower ELO) you will manage to get a free inhib.
The benefits of SPLIT PUSHING is you can also draw 1 - 2 maybe even 3 enemies away from your team.
If you're splitting top and the enemy is pushing mid, and they send one of their fed champions after you, you just took that enemy away from harming your team. You can always run with Q so you are safe for the most part.

Clowning the End Game Back to Top

This is where A LOT of mistakes happen. Sadly, one mistake can lose the game for you.
It works both ways, as one pick can also win the game.
There is a lot of assessment that needs to take place when playing late game with 35.png no matter what division/league/ELO.
Let's look at a few key features to closing games out.

ONE-SHOT.

Okay so you have no choice but to group. We'll assume the game is even in gold, and you're about to 5v5.
What is your job as 35.png in the late game?
ONE-SHOT A HIGH PRIORITY TARGET.
If you've built damage and you have items; you CAN one-shot their ADC.
Make sure you are not seen before the fight, when the fight happens; Q in, run behind their ADC.
Drop everything that God gave you onto that sumabitch and kill his ass.
ULT if you need to.
THAT is your job. Trade yourself for their ADC or MID LANER.
In a perfect world you will live, but realistically; you're dead AF.

TAKING TOWERS & INHIBS.

This is what you need to do. This is your goal. Whether you need to group or split push.
That being said, DON'T just run out and YOLO take a tower and die. If you're going to die for an objective, you need to make sure it is worth it. That works for your teammates as well. If you're going to splitpush and let your team 4v5, you need to make it worth it.
Taking an inhib is SOMETIMES worth it, if your team kills a few or leaves many people low enough that they can't push one of your inhibs down. Grouping with your team is sometimes more beneficial, as your ult can ZONE/TANK/PUSH towers. Don't forget to use your JACK IN THE BOX (W) on towers/inhibs!

BARON.

In lower ELO games, you will need to make this call; as a lot of the players in these divisions don't know optimal times to take baron. If it is late game, you will take baron quite fast and efficiently. Remember that when you catch and enemy out, or somebody without TP shows bot lane.
Don't think because it's 4v5 that it's a free Baron though. Teams with substantial amount of poke can easily turn the fight against you.

VISION.

This is key ALL game, but even more so towards the end. As I said, one pick can end the game - you don't want it to be your teammate or you getting picked off.

About Me Back to Top

Hello! Thank you for checking out my 35.png guide.
I have been clowning since Season 1!
I have thousands of games of experience with 35.png over the years, over the span of many accounts.
During the first 2-3 seasons I've done numerous Unranked - Platinum runs playing only Shaco.
After a bit of dedication, I was able to finally break through and hit Diamond consistently.

I stopped playing for 2 Seasons but now I'm back and planning on getting back to the skill level I once was.
I hope to share my knowledge on how to win games with 35.png and I will do my best to constantly add content and update weekly!

If you have ANY questions or comments, feel free to leave them here; or add me in-game.

Ganking Back to Top

VIDEOS COMING SOON!

Your Role as DAMAGE Back to Top

Your role as DAMAGE35.png is to kill. Kill, Kill, Kill.
Sometimes you die. Okay that's a lie, a lot of times you die.
99% of the time you're going to use your Q to dive their back-line.
THIS IS WORTH.
If their ADC is 14-0, the game is NOT over. You can honestly delete their ADC in 1 combo.
If you take out a 14-0 ADC, and instantly die, you're doing a service for your team.
How?
You're removing a carry from the fight, and absorbing a few damaging spells for your team.

BACKSTAB PASSIVE.

I cannot stress enough how IMPORTANT this is. Make it a habit to ALWAYS attack from behind. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS.
Sometimes the entire game depends on your being able to do you job, and you definitely don't want your combo to not kill someone simply because you forgot to walk behind them while invisible.
Always make it a habit, whether you're jungling, ganking, dueling or team fighting.

PLACING A BOX.

A well placed Jack in the Box in the middle of a team fight DOES help. Even though it's not a very long fear, it is an AoE disrupt. In a perfect world, you can have a 5 man fear.
Even maxed-out it's only 1.5, but that could be game changing.

USING YOUR ULT.

Your ult can complete negate spells if it is well-timed. This is including damage and CC. When your ult explode, it deals DECENT damage in an AoE. Again, in a perfect world - coupled with your Jack in the Box - that could mean a 1.5 second fear and decent 5-man burst with just 2 abilities.
Again, imagine you dive into their ADC, deliver a 5-man 1.5 second AoE fear, and a 5 man burst with your ult. Even if you die, you're providing a HUGE service to your team.

Your Role as TANK Back to Top

Your role as TANK35.png is to be fk'ing ANNOYING. Yes, I said it.
Be a fk'ing clown. Troll the other team. Eat abilities, /l in their faces, throw a Jack-in-the-box on the floor and /d around.
Real talk though, TANK35.png is annoying not only because his damage is still decently high, but because he is REALLY hard to kill.
I'm talking 3k + HP, with damage, a shield, your ult and decent MR/Armor.
Your role is to disrupt the other team, soak damage, peel if need-be.

DOMINATING THE EARLY GAME.

As TANK35.png your early game is JUST AS STRONG. You are not missing out on much - just a small bit of AP and AD - but your ganks are virtually JUST as effective. Dominate the early game, get your team ahead - get yourself ahead - and be an unkillable god.

DEALING DAMAGE.

Okay, so your damage as TANK35.png will not be as high as DAMAGE35.png. That is a given.
That being said, your role as a TANK is not to run around aimlessly. You still can provide the same utilities, Fear/Slow as when you built damage. You will STILL be able to 1v1, your burst will still be DECENT.

PEELING.

Okay so 35.png isn't the greatest peeler in the game. You have a fear and a slow. Aside from that, you're just running around auto-attacking. Does that make you BAD at peeling? Kind of.
What you can do is help your ADC kill whoever is sticking to them, or trust your team and stick on the enemy carry(ies)

TEAM FIGHTING WHILE AHEAD.

Don't be afraid. Be a man. You are a tank, with a clone of yourself. I mean... You can honestly dive in and have their entire team focus you, ult, and make it out alive while your team tears them apart. 90% of the time the enemy team sees a Shaco and thinks they can burst him 100-0 in 2 seconds. THIS IS NOT THE CASE WHEN PLAYING TANK35.png. I can't tell you how many times I laugh when their entire team focuses me and I'm still 1/2 HP and we ace them. Welcome to RAID BOSS status.

TEAM FIGHTING WHILE BEHIND.

When your team is behind, it is quite frustrating playing TANK35.png as you cannot simply delete their fed carries.
That being said, the game is never over. You can ALWAYS out-play the other team. The whole basis of playing 35.png in any role is to win the game by out-playing. Wait for opportunities, ward and catch the enemies out of position. And remember; If you choose to play TANK35.png then you need to soak up damage. You need to initiate, and soak up damage with yourself and your ult. This is only frustrating because you need to rely on your team.

GETTING COCKY WITH THE CLOWN.

Okay, so a lot has been said of you being a God. You can be, but don't play stupid. Of course you're tanky, but you cannot simply take 5 ults to the face and live. You're still 35.png. Always think about out-playing the enemy and using your entire kit effectively.
