Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png for obvious reasons. Not much choice here.

12.png is my choice most of the time since it grants you a more relaxed laning phase and you can use it to flank with your ult in mid/lategame

3.png is a solid choice against burst champs like 7.png or 238.png

14.png for more kill pressure. Since I'm a pretty mid- to lategame oriented player, I never pick this up.

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

The masteries are pretty standard too in my opinion.

Ferocity

Sorcerer: More ability damage
Feast: For more sustain on lane
Natural Talent: Since all of her spells are AoE, spellvamp is reduced to 33%, which is basically nothing, so pick this up
Oppressor: Insane synergy with rylais, will make you deal 2.5% more dmg to everyone

You can replace feast with double-edged sword. I just prefer a little bit more sustain.

Cunning:
Wanderer: Helps you quite a bit with roaming
Secret Stash: Grants you more sustain
Meditation: For a bit more mana regeneration
Dangerous Game: Because bandit is useless
Intelligence: For more CDR
Thunderlord: Works extremely well with her Q which procs it really fast

Meditation > Merciless: I think merciless is not such a great mastery. If we think about a target which has 2.000 HP, merciless will proc at 800 HP. And instead of 800 health to finish him off, you just need 800 / 100 * 95 which equals 760. Yeeeey. I just think meditation is way better.

taliyahpassive.png Passive: Rock Surfing

Taliyah gains up to 20 - 40 (based on level)% bonus movement speed by moving near terrain or structures, which builds up over 1 second and decays over 1 second upon moving out of range.

Entering combat disables Rock Surfing instantly and for the next 5 seconds, refreshed upon staying in combat.

Explanation:

So this is a really nice passive for roaming or jungling. However, you won't notice it a lot on lane. It really offers 0 benefit until you are able to roam around the map.

taliyahQ.png Q: Threaded Volley

Taliyah unleashes 5 Stone Shards in quick succession in the target direction, dealing magic damage in a small area around the first target hit. Targets hit by a Stone Shard take 50% damage from subsequent shards.

Casting Threaded Volley creates an area of Worked Ground around Taliyah that lasts 180 - 99 seconds. While on Worked Ground, Taliyah gains 10 - 20 (based on level)% bonus movement speed, and only hurls one Stone Shard upon casting Threaded Volley, refunding half its mana cost.

Explanation:

The low cooldown and the extremely high scaling/base dmg if you hit all 5 rocks on this spell are awesome. Later on, you got this spell on a 2.2 second cooldown, able to spam it whenever you want. But every cast created a pretty big area of worked ground which weaks your Q extremely. On lane, this can be somewhat beneficial since you gain bonus movespeed which helps you evade skillshots or ganks or to farm since the range is pretty good and it only costs 30 mana, but in a teamfight, it can be difficult to see where you already casted your Q and where you didnt. Be careful about that, since your Q on worked ground is a massive DPS-Loss!

taliyahW.png W: Seismic Shard

Taliyah marks the target location. After a brief delay, the ground erupts, dealing magic damage to all enemies hit and and Airborne icon knocking them up for 1 second.

Taliyah can recast Seismic Shove before it erupts at no additional cost, causing it to Airborne icon knock its targets towards the target direction.

Explanation:

This skill makes or breaks you. You can end a teamfight before it started simply by placing a good W and catching their mid/adc. You can also use it to peel for your adc or deal huge amounts of damage if you knock the enemy into your E (I'll show that combo later on). However, the delay on the spell is rather long and you will have to get a feeling for it. Predicting what the enemy is trying to do also helps greatly.

taliyahE.png E: Unraveled Earth

Taliyah scatters 18 boulders over the ground in a cone before her, dealing magic damage to all enemies hit. The boulders then remain for 4 seconds, Slow icon slowing all enemies within the area by 20% (+ 4% per 100 AP). At the end of their duration, all remaining boulders explode in another conic wave, dealing Unraveled Earth's initial damage once more.

Enemies who dash over or are Airborne icon knocked through Unraveled Earth's boulders cause them to detonate instantly, each dealing them 50% of Unraveled Earth's initial damage, up to a maximum of 4 boulders per enemy.

Explanation:

This is your bread and butter skill on lane. One E can clear an entire minion wave without trouble, so this is usually the first skill I max in order to being able to roam. Also, your poke is a lot stronger if you max your E since it ignores minions and an E -> W combo can easiely destroy 60% of the enemy laners health if timed correctly.

taliyahR.png R: Weavers Wall

Taliyah channels for 1 second before summoning a massive wall of spiraling rock that tears through the battlefield in the target direction, creating impassable terrain for a few seconds.

Taliyah can reactivate Weaver's Wall while channeling to ride atop the wall as it emerges. Taking damage or inputting a movement command in any direction will force her off the wall, which will continue along its path normally.

Explanation:

The utility on this spell is completely insane. You can catch squishy targets, split frontline and backline, save teammates or escape from dangerous situations - you name it! This is one of your most important skills when roaming, but as uncle ben said: With great power comes great responsibility. Terraforming also affects your team, so if you fail or misplace the wall, you can throw a teamfight completely by yourself.

Example E -> W Combo:

This is literally the bread and butter combo and here is a small example of how it looks like. (I really have to apologize for the POOR quality, image as well as sound, but I don't have a proper video creation tool nor do I have any talent or experience^^)

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

pretty usual start, works in most situations
    vs pokelanes
If you are scared of the enemy yasuo/zed/talon

Core Items

A really nice item since it grants additional AP, movespeed and a solid passive.
This is your bread and butter item, this item works so well on taliyah since her cooldowns are so low.
I prefer CDR boots, but you can run sorcboots. I just like the additional CDR on summoners, also, i reach 40% cdr with the items + runes/masteries, which is rly cool, but not that necessary
    Ult -> E -> Q -> Zhonyas -> Team followup -> profit
CDR, MR, AP and an MR-reducing aura? Buy it!
For a second powerspike in the lategame
    My usual lategame build

Situational Items

While this item has a great synegery with rylais, I just don't think it is as useful as any other of the items of the core.
Same here. I just don't think it is as useful as the raw damage a rabadons provides. However, if the enemy team is really tanky, this might be more valuable.

VS

Ahri

Easy

This isn't too difficult since your worked ground grants you additional movespeed which makes it easier for you to dodge her skillshots. Post 6 she becomes a bit more dangerous, but remember that her ahritumble.png triggers your taliyahE.png, so place them correctly in order to destroy her before she can cast.

Max  taliyahE.png

VS

Annie

Medium

Well, she can faceroll you just like she can with everyone else. However, you can push safely and roam in order to prevent her to get fed on you.

Max taliyahE.png

VS

Aurelion Sol

Easy

A rather easy matchup since he relies on his aurelionsolW.png for damage, and you can outrun him easiely on your worked ground fields.

Max taliyahE.png

VS

Azir

Hard

One of the biggest cancerlanes I've encountered so far. He will poke the hell out of you and you are completely unable to push. Avoid this matchup if possible since azir will also scale harder than you. He beats you in almost every phase of the game. If you get into this matchup, do NOT max E. Max Q and farm safe.

Max taliyahQ.png

VS

Ekko

Easy

His ekkoE.png gets countered by your taliyahE.png, so he looses a lot of HP before he even reaches you. You can push and roam, since you barely have killpressure on this guy thanks to his ekkoR.png

VS

Fizz

Hard

Just like every assassin, 105.png is able to dump right on top of you. However, you do have a solid matchup until he hits 6. Try your best to get an advantage during that time, because once he hits 6, he is able to completely delete you with this standard combo. Don't push against him too much and try to stay back, farm and wait for help or teamfights.

Max taliyahQ.png

VS

Katarina

Medium

Annoying, but not really dangerous. She usually becomes pretty predictable, so place your W below you, interrupt her and kill her. Really not that much of a deal if you pay attention. However, since she can snowball hard, I labelled this matchup medium instead of easy.

Max  taliyahE.png

VS

LeBlanc

Hard

A really annoying and diffcult matchup. You can dodge her chains rather easy, but as soon as she notices that, she harrasses you with a Q leblancchaosorb.png leblancmimic.png leblancslide.png combo, at least the leblancs which i faced did that. There is not much you can do to defend yourself. Try to stay back, farm and wait for teamfights.

Max taliyahQ.png

VS

Nidalee

Easy

Her jump procs your taliyahE.png, you can dodge her spears with the increased movespeed - really, this matchup is incredibly easy. There is not much what you can goof up here.

Max taliyahE.png

VS

Orianna

Medium

She can push just as well as you do, and with a higher range. If you try to clear the wave with your taliyahE.png, she can poke you down with a simple orianaizunacommand.png orianadissonancecommand.png combo. Also, she has a shield and a powerspike at 6, while you have nothing of both. Stay safe and clear the waves, you can evade her ball with the increased movespeed, but stay safe.

Max taliyahE.png

VS

Syndra

Hard

No matter how many syndras I fought, I never saw a glimpse of daylight in these matchups. I got completely vaporized from this plane of existence. This matchup is almost unwinable without outside help. Stay back and farm.

Max taliyahQ.png

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

You both do the same: Push and roam. And he can do it slightly better than you. He provides a stronger lockdown with his pickacard.png and he can initiate earlier than you since the ultimate range is incredibly high. However, the lane itself is not really difficult. Try to outpush him and make sure he doesn't roam. You can prevent him ulting with your taliyahW.png

Max taliyahE.png

VS

Vel'Koz

Medium

This matchup really depends on how good the velkoz is. He can give you an incredibly hard time, but he can also be the easiest lane ever. But usually, you can push safely and roam. Since velkoz maxes his velkozQ.png first, he is not that great when it comes to pushing.

Max taliyahE.png

VS

Yasuo

Medium

This matchup is completely dependend on how good you are on taliyah. You can lose control of the lane completely, but also, you can demolish him. His yasuoE.png procs your taliyahE.png, so you can basically deny his initiate AND deal a lot of damage to him.

Max taliyahE.png

However, if you notice that you are loosing against him, max your taliyahQ.png, sit back and farm.

VS

Zed

Hard

Horrible matchup. Nothing which you want to fight. It's a bit like katarina, if you can predict the ult, you can knock him away instantly. However, Zed is way more versatile than than kat. This matchup proofed itself extremely difficult several times. It really depens on your skill/team what to max. Usually, I would recommend taliyahQ.png.

The final words Back to Top

While I'm aware that I'm not a diamond I professional player, I really got a good feeling about me and this character. I will constantly update this guide in order to keep everything up-to-date.

Also, I will release a jungle taliyah guide pretty soon, although it will only be a short overall view since most of the concepts are already explained here.
