Summoner Spells Back to Top

14.png Ignite is the best spell for Talon because it really helps you in trades and all-ins as well as secure kills in teamfight and against obnoxious champs such as any adc with lifesteal or 8_64.png and 36_64.png.

12.png Teleport is good for top-lane (although i'd recommend not playing Talon top because it's really bad..) to make plays and help your team on the whole map. You can get it even if you're mid lane if it suits your playstyle. It just doesn't fit mine.

11.png You can go smite if you're into jungle Talon stuff and it's funny because your gank potential is very high.
Your clearing time is really bad, though. Wouldn't reccomend.

3.png Exhaust is a good choice if you are against champs like 238.png or 157.png for damage and att speed reduction.

Masteries Back to Top

This is the standerd mastery page for an ad caster assassin because you need the 5% cdr  and all the ad+armor pen you can get from it. Also, the Spell and Blade Weaving masteries are really good because they increase your spell damage after an auto and auto after a spell. Additionally, Thunderlord's is broken. Since you're a spell based assassin this suits you perfectly. So..

Mercy.jpg  PASSIVE: MERCY

"Talon's basic attacks deal 10% additional damage to any target that is Slow icon slowedStun icon stunnedRoot icon immobilized or Suppression icon suppressed."
I don't really like Talon's passive because it doesn't really work well with his kit. Your only cc is a 2 seconds slow on your W so you're totally dependent on your W to apply your passive. It doesn't provide a lot of damage but it's always nice if you have a jungler with a lot of cc such as 111_64.png or 113_64.png.

Noxian_Diplomacy.jpg  Q: NOXIAN DIPLOMACY

ACTIVE: Talon's next basic attack within the next 6 seconds deals bonus physical damage.

If the target is a champion they will also bleed for 6 seconds, granting Jens Ingels LoL- Sight1 standard sight of their location to Talon and taking additional physical damage each second for the duration.

This is your main damage tool in the mid-late game besides from your ultimate. It's just so good because it does a lot of damage with both the auto and the bleeding part and it also resets your animation. You can actually do 3 autoattacks in less than 1.5 seconds with aa+q+tiamat if you do it correctly. It can also crit giving the possibility to do 1500+ damage if you have a 3078_32.png and an 3031_32.png. Some people prefer maxing this first but i just think that your W's harass potential is really good and your only damaging tool against a ranged opponent. So I'd recommend maxing this only against some early duelist to destroy them with your auto reset such as 157_64.png or 84_64.png.

Rake.jpg W: RAKE

ACTIVE: Talon sends out a volley of daggers in a cone that then quickly return back to him, dealing physical damage to any enemies it passes through. Additionally the enemy is Slow icon slowed for 2 seconds, refreshing the duration of the slow if they are hit twice.

Rake is the best spell for Talon in the early game because from level 4 you can start chunking your enemy's hp bar everytime he gets close to you. It also needs a lot of mana though,so don't spam it without a reason. I prefer maxing it because it gives more aoe damage for roams and 1v2s in lane and it's overall better than q against any ranged because you can actually fight them back if they harass you.

Cutthroat.jpg E: CUTTHROAT

ACTIVE: Talon blinks behind his target, Slow icon slowing them by 99% for 0.25 seconds and amplifying his damage against that target for 3 seconds.

This is primarly an outplay tool because you can juke any enemy skillshot with it since it places you right behind them. You can bait skills such as 103_64.png's charm or 161_64.png's tectonic disruption and then go behind them to instantly get 300G.  The slow is not that good but it helps landing your w because you can actually see where your enemy is trying to go in that 0,25 seconds but it doesn't let you apply your passive because you can't hit anything within 0,25 seconds. You can use it to engage but also as an escape if you can ward a jungle camp to blink onto it just like 131_64.png or 84_64.png.

Shadow_Assault.jpg R: SHADOW ASSAULT

ACTIVE: Talon disperses blades outwards in a 500-radius ring and gains stealth for up to 2.5 seconds while gaining 40% movement speed. When Talon emerges from stealth, the blades converge on his location. When the ring of blades expands and contracts, enemies hit receive physical damage.

This is for me the best spell in the game. It allows you to make a lot of plays such as improvvise assasinations or jukes with the mov speed and invisibility, as well as doing a lot of damage.
As soon as you get your ultimate you can 80-0 your enemy or sometimes even 100-0 if they don't have armor. Just engage whenever you can, people doesn't expect to get 1shotted at lv 6 by Talon because he's not played that much and they don't really know him, specially in mid-low elo.
You can use it+3142_32.png to assassinate people in quick time and without being spotted because of your invisibility or to escape since this is your only escape tool aside from e.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

this is viable if you think your lane will be easy but since you use a lot of mana for your spells i wouldn't recommend this. Use it only if you know what you're doing
same for long sword + 3 pots
Get yellow trinket at the start to ward your lane and prevent invades. Red trinket helps you making plays denying vision for pink wards and blue trinket helps you with sudden assassinations. It depends on your playstyle.
I start with this 99% of the times like i did with flask, still have to try it enough though. It looks good and anyway any other start kinda sucks, specially cull
    no, just don't

Core Items

so since brutalizer got removed i think this is the best start so you can move towards black cleaver and hydra asap. Get youmuu's before anything else,it's really good.
i build mercury's 90% of the time because the tenacity and mres is really good since most of the time you will be against an ap. i get tabis when i'm against a full ad team or a fed adc or i have zed/yasuo/wukong/jayce in lane swiftness are really good with alacrity if the enemy has a lot of slow i see a lot of people build mobility boots but i don't really like them. i think they're viable if you're planning on roaming 24h/24
i don't really like ionians because they give you 0 resistance and they aren't the fastest boots around. the only reason i would pick them up is because i need my ultimate every 40 seconds to blow up someone but otherwise i wouldn't even think about them. After the recent buff though, i think they are worth a try
these are all good items if you're fed and looking for kills. be careful to get at least 1 defensive item because otherwise you will get blown up by any cc that hits you.
this is my usual end game build. i have enough damage to kill squishies and can survive with GA.
this is a funny build you can use to blow up people but you won't have any def item so if you make a mistake you will die
this is what a jungle talon build should look like, with the blue smite to help your ganks
these items are all viable in their own way. banshee is great to prevent hard engages like malphite's ult or vi's ult. visage is good if you're against 2+ ap or you need more lifesteal. randuin is good if they are full ad and you also need the slow and ga is awesome in every game because it gives you the time to get your cds back and kill someone else
UPGRADE YOUR TRINKET! IT'S ONLY 250G AND THE YELLOW ONE IS BROKEN!

Situational Items

hexdrinker is a really good first item if you need mres against an heavy ap mid such as ahri or leblanc
this is actually a really good item if ga is on cooldown. it basically does the same thing but you have less cd and no mres
this is generally a really good item against tanks but i don't think it's really good on talon since you won't be autoattacking a tank that much.
if malzahar wants your booty. also you can upgrade it to mercurial, which is very good.
This item is pretty broken, and i suggest you to try it combined with essence reaver and infinity edge for some crazy damage.
if vlad, swain, mundo or soraka are destroying your team.
    Really good item. This>BT
Everyone does it, so why not?

VS

Ahri

Easy

Ahri is really easy since all you have to do is using your E onto her after she used her charm(E). just play passive in the beginning (but harass if you can) and as soon as you hit 6 you can kill her if you are fast enough with your combo.

VS

Akali

Medium

Akali is a tough matchup because if she survives your burst you're 80% dead since she can spam her q and you will have no ability to use at that point. try to be aggressive early without getting hit by her q proc and you will be fine since your all-in is stronger.

REMEMBER TO CARRY A PINK WARD!

VS

Anivia

Medium

I think this matchup is really easy after you get 6 because she has to get close to you to use her E and you can easily juke her q+ult with your e.

Medium because pre-6 it will be kinda hard but if she uses her q just go on her and get as much damage as you can.

VS

Annie

Hard

Annie is really hard because she can basically 100-0 you anytime if she has ult.

you can go for an hexdrinker and try to survive with the flask but you really need jungler's help to kill her otherwise you need her to be bad and to miss her stun

VS

Azir

Hard

Azir is really hard because he can basically just negate your all-in with his ultimate and just kill you after that with his insane damage. Just try to roam and to get objectives, you can't really kill the emperor.

VS

Brand

Easy

Brand works the same way as Ahri. Just wait for him to waste his q and jump on him. Be careful though to not fight near minions or will ult will deal tons of damage

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium

Cass can be annoying because of her spam early of q and e. Get an 3155_32.png first and try to all in her if she tries to kill because you can see when she's going to ult you just need to be smarter than her and go behind her before she can ult

VS

Cho'Gath

Hard

Cho'Gath is the ultimate anti-assassin mage who is tanky and at the same time will one shot you if you even try to get close to him. Nothing to do in midlane, just go roam bro.

VS

Corki

Easy

You may sometimes find a 42_64.png in the midlane, either ap or ad.

he's basically a free kill you just need to be fast enough with your combo and he will die

VS

Diana

Medium

This matchup can snowball in either way,but it's often in 131_64.png's favour because if she rushes 3157_32.png you won't be able to kill her while she will still deal tons of damage and kill your flaming team. You need to get kills early otherwise she will just outscale you.

VS

Ekko

Medium

Ekko is a tricky one because you can win an 1v1 against him even at lower levels but you need to be careful about his Parallel Convergence (W) and his ultimate because if you get hit by them you're pretty much dead. If you fight him without it though you will always win.

VS

Ezreal

Medium

If he goes AP,the matchup is medium because he can just deal tons of damage after you E on him because he will Arcane Shift (E) away from you and use his w and ult probably killing you,but if you can catch him without it or can flash away from his spells he's a living minion.

If he goes AD the matchup is super-easy since he's like 42_64.png but with an instant escape so you just need to bait it once since your E cooldown is shorter than his.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Hard

It isn't seen too much in the mid-lane but 9_64.png might as well make you rage until you go afk.

There's absolutely nothing you can do about 9_64.png since he will just drain and fear and silence and deal tons of damage while laughing while you run in terror from one of his ults

VS

Fizz

Medium

This is pretty much a skill matchup. Who gets the first kill will snowball and probably carry the game. Fizz can dodge all your spells but if he engages first you just need to wait he finishes his e to go on him and try to 1shot the fish before he 1shots you. Hexdrinker highly recommended

VS

Galio

Hard

This guy is extremely annoying. If you all-in him you're basically setting yourself up for an ult which will one-shot you and you will not do any damage to him with q since he heals from autoattacks. Just roam,he can't really push his wave without finishing his mana so all you need to do is pushing a bit and get free kills botlane

VS

Gragas

Medium

Gragas in the mid-lane is not something you will see often but if you do you should be REALLY careful because he can do tons of damage while being pretty tanky. He's basically like 31_64.png but without his ult and less damage but he can outplay you with his ultimate sending you under his tower.

VS

Heimerdinger

Medium

Heimerdinger is extremely obnoxious but if he doesn't have 3157_32.png yet if you engage on him he's basically a free kill, careful about his turrets though.

VS

Irelia

Hard

Irelia mid is something Faker and Nukeduck pulled out and you might find her in soloq.

You can't really trade her,you can try at level 6 to all-in but probably you won't come out ahead if she stuns you,so just try to push and roam since she doesn't have wave clear aside from her ultimate

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

Skill matchup, like 105_64.png or 84_64.png,the one who gets the first kill wins. Talon has the edge though, but you need to be really careful because his full ad combo can one shot you.

VS

Jayce

Medium

Jayce is tricky because he can basically just poke all day and all-in you when you are low enough to get a free kill but if you can get on him and get him low you can kill him because even if he uses E on you you can still use W and R since they have a longer range

VS

Karma

Hard

Karma is an anti-assassin. She can reveal your stealth, shield herself and poke you with tons of damage. Just don't pick Talon into 43_64.png or any assassin because she can just destroy nearly all of them.

VS

Karthus

Easy

Karthus is a free kill, just be careful about his Q and his W because he can set up ganks easily. Also, get a 3156_32.png to counter his ultimate.

VS

Kassadin

Easy

Kassadin is extremely easy since he doesn't have the damage to trade with you early and if you all-in him he can escape but he will be forced to b every time he does it. Harass him as long as you can and kill him as many times as you can since he will be a monster late game where you will kinda fall-off,and you don't want that to happen do you?

VS

Katarina

Hard

Katarina used to be countered by Talon but you don't have a silence anymore so it's basically like the 3_64.png matchup,if you all-in her you're setting up to be ulted and killed. The only thing you can do is try to kill her before 6 and roam to prevent her feeding.

But hey,it's Katarina.

VS

Kayle

Medium

kayle is easy and hard at the same time. you can one shot her if she doesn't ahve her ult but if you don't kill her you will just eat her E and Q and that will deal tons of damage. If you survive that though, you will kill her easily.

VS

Kennen

Hard

Like 55_64.png,don't all-in this guy because you're just trying to suicide into his ultimate. Also, Zhonya is his first item so you won't be able to kill him at all.

VS

Kha'Zix

Medium

Kha'Zix mid used to be good. Now,though,he's kind of bad but tends to snowball as he used to if he gets some kill. Your all-in can one shot him but be careful about isolation since he can one shot you with his q if you're isolated.

VS

Kog'Maw

Medium

Kog is similar to 63_64.png, you need to wait for his E to go onto him and you need to be careful because his ultimate reveals your stealth. even if he gets you with e though, unless he is incredibly fed,you shoudl be able to kill him anyway.

VS

LeBlanc

Medium

Leblanc is kinda hard because she can chunk your hp bar to half lv 2 and try to kill you at level 3. If you are good, though, you can e when she is using her Distorsion (W) to deny the damage and get a Q and W on her. Basically a skill matchup, Hexdrinker would be perfect for this

VS

Lissandra

Medium

If you get to her when she has no ultimate she's a free kill since she has to wait a bit before using her escape and in the meantime you will already have killed her, but if she has her ultimate you will never kill her and you might end up being killed if she's fed. She also has tons of free poke so be careful early.

VS

Lulu

Hard

Another anti-assassin, Lulu has damage, shield, stealth reveal, speed up,silence and a life saving ultimate. You will never kill anyone in teamfight if 117_64.png is around and you will never kill her since all she has to do is silence you as soon as you go onto her and shield herself or even just ult since the cooldown is very low. Also, tons of free poke on her autoattacks..don't play Talon against Lulu,it's just not worth it

VS

Lux

Medium

Lux works in the same way as 103_64.png. If you survive the early poke (since you won't be able to harass her because of her range) you can kill her at level 7-8 but you need to be careful because if she gets you with her snare you are pretty much dead and you will not kill her either since she's got an obnoxious shield.

VS

Malzahar

Medium

Medium in the early game since he has a good harass but usually 90_64.png uses it to push the waves, specially his e. After 6 you need to be VERY careful because he can set up ganks extremely easily with his ultimate and you can't do much about it. It gets easy when you get to teamfights though because (if you have 3140_32.png) you just need to use the quicksilver and you can one shot him without any problem

VS

Mordekaiser

Medium

Mordekaiser is tricky because he is too tanky to get 1shotted and he pushes so much preventing you from roaming. If you can get your jungler help though and get 1-2 kills he becomes pretty much a free kill. Careful though to not fight him isolated because he does a lot of damage even if he is 0/2-0/3

VS

Morgana

Medium

As most AP mids you can kill morgana if you dodge her snare (Q) with your e and survive the early poke with her W. You need to be careful about her ultimate and try to kill her before she can complete it otherwise she will just R+Q+W+IGNITE and you will die, painfully. Her shield though is useless against you so you actually can kill her while she's ulting even at lv 6

VS

Nidalee

Easy

Similar to 103_64.png,she can fight you only if she can proc her mark on you. Just dodge the spears with your E,even if she heals your burst is too much for her. If she gets a kill though this match could become impossible since she will just one shot people randomly around the map.

VS

Nunu

Hard

NUNU MID IS OBNOXIOUS.

You can't kill him. If you E on him he will just ult and kill you. He will poke with E every 3 seconds and chunk your hp every time while he heals with his Q. Extremely obnoxious but you might kill him if he doesn't have his ultimate and he's alone.

VS

Orianna

Medium

Orianna might be easy if you can dodge her Q early and survive the early game easily. Lv 6 you can't kill her because of her shield but you can harass with no problem since she doesn't really do much damage without any item, while you do. Careful though she can ult herself if you go on her and outplay you or bait you into a gank with it. Try to focus her in teamfights since she probably will use it on your team leaving her defenceless.

VS

Riven

Medium

Skill matchup. You can dodge her R with E and one shot her but she can W and stun you after you do it and do tons of damage. Try to engage only if she wasted her W on minions and you might kill her or at least get her low because with her shield is hard to actually kill her. Try to focus the adc first in the fights because it might take too long to kill her.

VS

Shaco

Hard

Hard in lane because he's plenty of poke but he will run out of mana easily. Just care about his boxes and his mind tricks because ap boxes one shot people. In teamfight you can easily kill him...or kill his clone and die doing it.

VS

Swain

Hard

He's kinda unkillable without ignite and his poke will chunk you to half hp every time. He can also kite you with his slow and snare and drain your hp while doing it..just not worth to play Talon against Swain

VS

Syndra

Easy

Basically a free kill, just care about her stun because if you don't have an 3155_32.png she can oneshot you with her ult if she poked correctly

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

Free kill just care about his ultimate which can reveal you but he cannot fight you unless he stuns you and his jungler kills you.

VS

Varus

Medium

Same matchup as 103_64.png but you need to be really careful about his poke because it's easy to land and his ult means you are 100% dead in a teamfight. Also, a Varus usually uses exhaust or barrier against an assassin so you might not be able to kill him at all.

VS

Veigar

Easy

Veigar is a free kill since you can dodge his stun and even if he places it right on him you can do your combo faster than the time it takes to his e to appear. Just be careful late game where he can one-shot you with ultimate so take a 3156_32.png and possibly a 3102_32.png

VS

Vel'Koz

Easy

This is extremely easy, really. All you need to do is survive till level 6 and just go behind him after he used his e and he is dead. Even if he gets you with his e you can just blink behind him if he's ulting you making it useless.

VS

Viktor

Hard

Viktor is extremely annoying since he has a shield and tons of poke early on. If you can survive that tough you might be able to kill him since if he doesn't get his w on you or if he used it and you're not dead yet you will oneshot him. 3155_32.png>112_64.png

VS

Vladimir

Medium

Vladimir is tough before 6 because he's plenty of poke and he can just q after your Rake to heal himself up. after 6 though if you can hit all your abilities you might kill him with ignite otherwise you will just die against his dps. 14.png>8_64.png

I just suggest to not focus him since he will also get zhonyas so just kill the carry in teamfights.

VS

Wukong

Medium

Full ad wukong mid is a pain. You can kill him if you carry a pink ward but so can he since his damage is really high. Skill matchup though, try to not get hit by his whole ultimate because it will deal tons of damage. Who gets the first kill will snowball to win.

VS

Xerath

Medium

Xerath is a free kill if you can get onto him similar to 103_64.png but i think this is medium difficulty because his damage is really high and if you get stunned you might die against his burst. Also the poke in early is obnoxious and like 99_64.png you can't really hit him since he will be too far.

VS

Yasuo

Easy

Yasuo is really easy,i recommend to max Q against him since he will want to trade anytime and you will be stronger with q maxed. Also he might stop your W with his wall so it's not really worth it. Fight everytime he wants to trade and you will be fine, lv 6 you can oneshot him.

VS

Zed

Medium

This matchup is extremely dependent on the skill. My favourite matchup in the whole game. You need to be careful about his poke early with W+Q but you can also try to fight back with W+E+AA+Q since you will autoattack twice and he will just do it once so you will come up ahead. If he ults you just need to ult to dodge his damage and survive and after his deathmark explodes you can just E on him to do your full combo. Care though about pink wards because he can all-in you with it and kill you if he hits you with everything.

You can get a 3341_32.png to counter his vision.

VS

Ziggs

Medium

He can survive your burst with barrier and his W and also he can poke a lot. In teamfights though he will just be a free kill if you have the same gold as he does. Just try to not all-in him if you're not sure about the kill because even if you don't think he can he can actually do a lot of damage with q-w-e and an ultimate right onto your head.

Laning as Talon Back to Top

Pretty much like any other assassin, Talon doesn't have the best laning phase pre-lvl 6. His does though have a good harass (specially when you get 3 levels on it), a pretty good all in potential if the enemy overextends and an escape (to raptor camps with e or e on the enemy jungler if they come from behind you).

How to deal with easy matchups: 99.png,157.png,238.png,38.png..

These are champions that either scale well in late game and are weak early or are mages that are countered by gapcloser, and you my friend have a really good istant gapcloser.
Try to harass them as much as you can, use your e to dodge their cc like luxlightbinding.png or syndraE.png and they will get blown up by your majestic blade.  If they are melee, you can consider maxing q and try to harass them with it since it deals a good damage and it doesnt have nearly as much mana cost as w. After having killed them a couple of times, you can start roaming and get objectives around the map becoming a roaming terror for the enemy team that will start blaming it on their poor mid-laner.

How to deal with champions that can actually kill you: 34.png,105.png,50.png..

With these guys you just have to hope they make a really big mistake like wasting their cc on minions or have lag. Some of them like swain are basically unkillable unless you're really fed and some like fizz can just outplay you with the troll pole. I reccomend starting with corrupting potion and try to farm as much as possible under tower even if they try to harass you with their long range so they will be pushed and easy to gank. As soon as you get your Tiamat, try to push and roam bot to start having relevance on the game otherwise you will start becoming less and less useful as time goes on

Why should i play Talon? Back to Top

Because he's awesome. He's better than any other AD in my opinion. (Yeah, f**k you 238_64.png.)

Talon has a lot of AOE damage which is something a lot of assassins lack and an insane instant burst with his Q+R in mid-late game. He might not be the best playmaker like 238_64.png or 157_64.png but you can do a lot of cool stuff with him and specially with his ultimate.
I really enjoy playing Talon because i like to wait the right moment to jump into the fight and deal a great amount of damage to anyone on the enemy team and killing their adc instantly. (Well, unless they have 67_64.png. F*ck Vayne, man).
Also he has invisibility which is the best thing in the game to insta-kill people since you can R+3142_32.png to get close and pop up behind them without letting them react to it. I will add some video of this someday, when skinspotlightreplay will work again on my pc.

Best build for current patch (6.1) Back to Top

As of 5.24, the build i'm finding the most success with is 3142.png into 3074.png,then 3031.png and 3036.png plus a variable item that depends on the game. With the crits, you can also go with a 3087.png+3094.png since they stack and do a lot of burst damage.

1. Normal build

2033.png -> 3134.png -> 3142.png -> 1001.png -> 3077.png -> 3158.png(or whatever pair of boots you feel you need the most) -> 3074.png ->3031.png -> 3036.png or 3508.png or 3812.png-> 3026.png

This is the build i use in the majority of the games. Pretty standard since it has waveclear, mov speed bonus, crits, damage against tanks with the 3036.png and cdr with 3508.png. The reason why i use this the most is because you can almost instakill squishies (you definitely will do it if you get a crit)  while being pretty safe with lifesteal, mov speed bonus and ga.

2. I'm fed as hell build

3142.png3158.png3074.png3078.png3031.png3139.png

So if you are fed as hell and you just want to have fun then this build will suit you. The only bad thing about it is that you will get blown up if you make a mistake, but the mercurial active might save you and honestly if you are that fed and someone gets close to you they should get deleted.

3. I'm getting rekt build

3077.png -> 3111.png or 3047.png -> 3142.png -> 3074.png ...

The reason why you should get tiamat first is because if you're getting rekt in lane you probably won't have much mana to spare for farming with w since you will get zoned and probably use that spell only for that. Tiamat helps you with pushing the wave and also gives you an autoattack reset. Youmuu as second so you can start roaming and help both yourself and your team getting an advantage.

Tips and Tricks Back to Top

>To do your combo as quickest as possible you need to use your W in order to close your R. The way to do it is to E+AA+Q+R+W because your R will be closed by any move you will do once you use it,and using W is the fastest and most efficient way to do it.

>Many think that Talon is not that strong in lane, and this is true for the most part of it but once you get 6 you can actually harass and deal pretty well with your enemy if you can jump on them. Just try to fight back every time they attack you and all-in if they have 70% hp with ignite, that will be a kill for sure.

>You can use your Ultimate+3142_32.png for an insane mov speed bonus and set up for assassinations or simple escapes.

>Roaming is foundamental on Talon since you have your ult every 66.5 seconds at lvl 6. If you can't kill your opponent (or you've already killed him 3+ times) the best thing to do is to roam and help your team. You should do it even if you are losing your lane because you do a lot of damage anyway, enough to kill the enemy adc or a squishy top-laner.

>You can use your E as escape tool warding a jungle camp and jumping onto it.

Which skin is best? Back to Top

Personally, i prefer the SSW skin. It's just so cool.

SSW,then Renegade, then basic Talon, Dragonblade (idk, i don't really like it that much) and Crimson Elite, which sucks.

Is Jungle Talon viable? Back to Top

Well, it kinda is but i didn't really play it a lot. Never tried it in ranked, just for the sake of trying in normals. I think it might work kinda like a Diana or Akali in jungle but i don't think the clear time is that good and you might get invaded. Still, if you get to the late game, it's not that bad.

BUT DON'T DO IT IN RANKED FOR THE FIRST TIME PLEASE

Disclaimer Back to Top

I want this section to be here because i want you to know that everything i write on this guide is what i think is good or bad for Talon and in the game in general. Obviously, it depends on the playstyle wether you agree with me on all i wrote or not.

Use the informations i wrote to create your playstyle,if you disagree with me on most things but not all of them.

Also, try to not dislike without telling me why, i'd like to create a good guide to help new players picking up Talon and this is my first guide so an help would be appreciated, even for build paths or informations you think i'm missing etc.

I will do my best to make this a good guide, so please help me in doing so!
Thanks for reading.

How do i know when i've mastered Talon? Back to Top

Let's be honest. Talon doesn't require that much mechanical skill to play, but as any other champion you need to understand some parts of his kit and use them at their best to master him. The key parts of Talon's kit are:

Learning to hit W as soon as you e onto an enemy

Learning how to autoattack reset probably with aa+q+hydra. This is FUNDAMENTAL.

Trying to get always the fastest combo and getting out quickly.

Surviving the laning phase, otherwise you will be less than useless

Knowing exactly how much damage you're able to do and to receive

Never waste ultimate, it's your only escape.

Turning tides in your favour using invisibility and e to outplay people.

Also, some things you might find useful

Never engage onto an enemy champ before they used their cc, otherwise you will get stopped and might die.

Try to pay attention to your jungler's path and your lanes' situation so you can gank everywhere

Try to find isolated enemy champions, so you can destroy them in no time (kinda like a 107.png)

AND PLEASE, USE SMARTCAST. YOUR COMBO WILL OTHERWISE BE TOO SLOW AND YOU WILL WASTE TIME TO CAST ANY SPELL.

Pros and Cons of playing Talon Back to Top

Pros:

Incredibly funny to play.
Extremely high single target burst, also some AOE.
Instant gapcloser.
Autoattack reset tool already in his kit.
Invisibility.
Mov speed bonus already in his kit.
Can jump onto raptors to escape in mid.
Ranged ad harass.
Easy to proc thunderlord's decree with, since w already hits twice.
Extremely big power spike at lv 6.
Bleed+Ignite secure almost every kill.
Incredibly short cd on ultimate.

Cons:

High mana costs, hard to manage them in early game
Has problems if he doesn't get fed
Lacks of a true escape, so you might get camped
E doesn't silence anymore.
W doesn't really do that much damage before have 3 levels on it and in lane it's not that good
His passive doesn't really sinergyze with his kit
Spell reliant, even though his autos hurt.
No real waveclearing ability besides w that doesn't always one shot minions.
Q doesn't do much damage if not maxed.

Junglers that synergize with Talon Back to Top

The best choice for a duoqueue partner playing jungle while you play Talon is to pick a heavy cc jungler, since you already got the damage to kill someone with one rotation of spells, you just need to get them stuck in one place.

God tier junglers with Talon : 254.png,111.png,33.png,106.png,57.png ...because they are tanky, do somehow damage and can keep people stuck in one place for a long, long time.

Ok tier junglers with Talon :
60.png,64.png,35.png,5.png... because they have somewhat of a cc and do a lot of damage, so the kill potential is really high.

Not amused : 11.png,102.png.. because they need to farm a lot and don't really have any cc to make up for your lack of it. They might work but they require the enemy to be REALLY overextended.

Dangerous junglers for Talon Back to Top

Basically, the dangerous junglers for Talon are the ones i just talked about that are effective for him.

Talon is an assassin, he's squishy and has a somewhat weak early game without an escape.

That means any jungler that has strong early game ganks (5.png,64.png) can abuse that and make you pay for anytime you push the wave, Also, a tanky jungler like 111.png is all your opponent needs to keep you locked in a place and destroy you.

Pay attention to the map and ward accordingly. You have to respect all the junglers, even if i'm sure a Master Yi will look less scary then a Lee Sin. Don't undervalue them though, as you might see yourself getting camped and not being able to roam.

How to control your lane and pushing Back to Top

Warding..where? Back to Top

Early game: passive before hunting Back to Top

Mid game: it's your time to shine Back to Top

End game: end this game as soon as possible Back to Top

Should i start with Corrupting potion or long sword/Doran's Blade? Back to Top

Should i max Q or W? Back to Top

This is the only debate about what to max on Talon since i'm pretty sure there's no one out there maxing E first.

So, it really comes down to your playstyle and who you're facing up against.

PROS OF MAXING talonrake.png

Pros:
Really good ranged harass once you get some levels
Ranged farming ability
AOE damage
Pretty useless without levels on it besides the slow

PROS OF MAXING talonnoxiandiplomacy.png:

Pros:
Maximize your single target damage
Really good against melee opponents
Good farming tool for farming under tower but no waveclear

I probably forgot something, but anyway this is the general idea. It all comes down to your playstyle, really.

About me! Back to Top

I'm currently Platinum 5 and although i'm pretty sure you're raising your eyebrows like "Why should i follow a Platinum 5 guide?" i can tell you i'm pretty experienced at Talon and pretty much most assassins in mid lane.

Talon is one of my favourite champs to play in ranked and normals because i find him to be the funniest champion in the league, and without mana (let's say, with energy) he would be the best.

The other champions i usually play a lot are 84.png,7.png,268.png,105.png,245.png and in general any assassin mid. I'm less experienced at mages, but i'll master all of them too one day.

My goal is to get diamond next season playing mostly my favourite champions so as long as Riot doesn't decide to keep nerfing them i'll hopefully do it.

My ign is HentaiAkaliKun, feel free to add me and ask question or just play together!

Talon lore Back to Top

Talon's earliest memories are the darkness of Noxus' underground passages and the reassuring steel of a blade. He remembers no family, warmth, or kindness. Instead, the clink of stolen gold and the security of a wall at his back are all the kinship he has ever craved. Kept alive only by his quick wits and deft thievery, Talon scraped out a living in the seedy underbelly of Noxus. His mastery of the blade quickly marked him as a threat, and Noxian guilds sent assassins to him with a demand: join their ranks or be killed. He left the bodies of his pursuers dumped in Noxus' moat as his response.

The assassination attempts grew increasingly dangerous until one assailant met Talon blade-for-blade in a match of strength. To his surprise, Talon was disarmed and facing down his executioner's sword when the assassin revealed himself to be General Du Couteau. The General offered Talon the choice between death at his hand, or life as an agent of the Noxian High Command. Talon chose life, on the condition that his service was to Du Couteau alone, for the only type of orders he could respect were from one he could not defeat. Talon remained in the shadows, carrying out secret missions on Du Couteau's orders that took him from the frigid lands of Freljord to the inner sanctums of Bandle City. When the general vanished, Talon considered reclaiming his freedom, but he had gained immense respect for Du Couteau after years in his service. He became obsessed with tracking down the general's whereabouts. Talon's suspicions led him to the doors of the Institute of War, where he joined the League of Legends in order to find those responsible for Du Couteau's disappearance.

''The three deadliest blademasters in all of Valoran are bound to the house of Du Couteau: my father, myself, and Talon. Challenge us, if you dare.''
-- Katarina Du Couteau
