Summoner Spells Back to Top

127.jpgStandard summoners for Teemo top is 4.png flash 14.png ignite because Teemo is a lane bully and this guide revolves around winning top lane, picking up a kill or two, and using that power to get ahead and becoming a powerful split pusher or an assassin.

If your against a tough lane (Irelia or Heimerdonger for example) taking exhaust/barrier is very helpfull to survive the lane and win in cs.

If global pressure is your thing taking Teleport is viable on Teemo but not recommended because Teemo is not a good global pressure champ. Some people do take ghost on Teemo for some reason but I don't recommend this as ghost simply isn't super useful on Teemo. If playing Teemo ADC then take heal as always.
Thanks to the stupid season 8 meta, really you can just run whatever anywhere some games. Just, don't run ghost

New Runes Back to Top

For runesyou have a couple different options, I have a couple pages to choose from

Standard Teemo is the one ill assume you're taking as it's meant for players completely new to Teemo (easiest to use and understand), the other pages get more focused on a specific playstyle and I will not be going in depth on them

179.png
Taking Press the Attack enhances your auto trades in lane and allows you to easily win trades with the bonus damage causing your E and R to do more damage over time. This is the keystone rune ive found helps players new to league or to Teemo the most out of all the options, very simple to use and impactful
Triumph makes your takedowns (kills or assists on enemy champion) that much more powerful by restoring hp and giving 20G
Legend: Alacrity Grants you up to 18% attack speed allowing you to build attack speed items later especially with liandries tormet being a good first item now
Cut Down enhances your ability to fight top lane tanks/bruisers and any tanks/bruisers later on into the game by giving you up to 10% bonus damage against them
179.png
Gathering storm grants AP the longer the game gets, I mostly run it for guaranteed AP the later the game gets, Waterwalking also works if you prefer controlling objectives
Celerity Grants 4% bonus movespeed and turns 8% of your total movespeed into Ad or AP (whichever your building) and because of your w granting you movespeed this can turn into 30-40 ad/ap late game

127.jpgteemopassive.png Passive: After standing still you become stealthed for as long as you remain still (in bushes you can move around) After leaving stealth you gain an attack speed buff for a few seconds.

Useful for assassination attempts or cosplaying as a ward

179.pngblindingdart.pngQ: Blinds an enemy making them unable to auto attack successfully. Deals magic damage.

Very good at beating auto-attack reliant champs in a 1v1. Or simply poking them down.

179.pngmovequick.pngW: Passive: Grants % movement speed until hit by an enemy champ/turret. Active: double the move speed bonus and this bonus can't be lost when hit

Great at increasing your ability to dodge skillshots and move around the map faster and increasing celerity

179.pngtoxicshot.pngE: Magic damage on hit and damage over time after attacking on enemy (DOT can't stack)

Your bread and butter ability for every situation, when combined with a Nashors and (a potential) Rageblade your damage on hit becomes incredibly high (around 300-400 late game) Also deals a surprising amount of damage when combined with ignite and your ult damage

179.pngbantamtrap.pngR: Plants a mushroom on the ground which takes a few seconds to arm and will deal magic damage over time in an AOE when walked on. Stealths when armed and lasts 5 minutes

The reason everyone hates Teemo. These suckers can kill people across the map or simply farm you a wave top while you're taking dragon. They combine farm, damage, area control, stealth, traps, and annoyance all into 1 package. Early game these are best used to farm waves or to be used as poking the enemy champion because of their relatively high cooldown (31 sec) 506.png

VS

Aatrox

Easy

Aatrox sucks lol

VS

Ahri

Hard

Very hard lane thanks to her poke and dexterity. Try to poke and farm up

VS

Akali

Hard

Try to keep Akali down as much as possible and by 6 you can win lane just through poke

VS

Anivia

Hard

VS

Annie

Hard

Poke pre 6 then right at lvl 5 go all in and get a kill. If you cant get a kill just play passive

VS

Aurelion Sol

Hard

Very hard matchup. Avoid fights at all cost and poke away

VS

Azir

Hard

Very rough matchup but can lean towards you. If Azir is good just cs and poke, if he's bad then poke and go all in after a while.

VS

Cho'Gath

Hard

Using your q as poke and being able to auto him to apply dot you can win lane simply through keeping cho down and ready to be killed but if cho'gath lands a full combo he can almost certainly kill you instantly. Stay mobile

VS

Darius

Medium

VS

Fiora

Hard

Unless you're very very good at Teemo, you'll probably lose

VS

Fizz

Hard

Try to avoid this matchup at all costs. Farm and hope he doesn't dive you

VS

Gangplank

Easy

Just go gunblade

VS

Gnar

Easy

Hecarim

Kled

VS

Lissandra

VS

Malphite

Hard

If Malphite is going tank then he builds a lot of armor and therefore you deal quite a lot of damage to him and can normally keep him down. But if he builds full ap then you really have no chance

VS

Morgana

Easy

VS

Taliyah

Easy

Stay mobile and it's a easy win

VS

Teemo

Medium

VS

Trundle

Medium

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

Dodge the Q

Blind the W
Easy the win

VS

Varus

Easy

Very easy lane to win. You out damage Varus very easily thanks to blind

VS

Vladimir

Medium

Avoid his ult and E and you'll win the lane through poke and dot

VS

Zed

Hard

Avoid matchup at all costs. If you are stuck in this lane poke as much as you can pre 6 and once zed's 6 basically sit under turret

VS

Zilean

Easy

Very easy lane to win. Stay mobile and avoid his q and you'll easily win

Pros v Cons Back to Top

127.jpg

Pros:

  • Has the ability to win almost every matchup even if its a horrible lane
  • Map and objective control
  • Wave control at all points
  • Has poke with Q and all in with E and ignite
  • Can carry through the mid-late game with enough practice
  • Low skill floor (Takes 5-15 games to become effective)
  • High skill ceiling (Takes about 75+ games to hit the "best" you can get)
  • Can be played any lane and any position
  • Massive DOT with E/ult/ignite
  • Cute af look at that face 17.png
  • 4.png Cons: 3.png
  • Squishy
  • Everyone hates you and you will get flamed for picking and cursed at a lot
  • Is item reliant after lvl 9
  • Can be difficult to play if your team never helps you
  • Often becomes the brunt of your teams hate if behind and rarely gets praise
  • Very difficult late game if behind
  • Takes around 30-40 games to find your rhythm of what play style fits you and how you want to play it.
  • Can not win every single lane solo, and will require some help but bc you're playing Teemo (aka devil) some junglers just straight up will not go to your lane.

Why Teemo? Back to Top

127.jpgWhy Teemo?

  • The main reason a lot of people play Teemo is for one reason: Adaptability, Teemo can fulfill every role a team needs, but not as good as someone else can. Teemo can Assassinate, Poke, Control, Tank, Support, Carry, And even DPS depending on what your team needs
  • Provides map control with shrooms
  • Provides an ADC's ability to shred turrets on an AP champ
  • Does not take much practice to get good at playing (low skill floor)
  • Provides Hybrid damage against tankier teams
  • Has a high amount of wave control
  • Has the ability to nearly solo carry matches due to shrooms damage and ability to assassinate targets
  • Lets you get out your frustration as there is nothing more fun than killing someone with your shrooms and them screaming into all chat :^)

Item Analysis Back to Top

127.jpg

3116.png JUST DON'T

  • In patch 5.13 slow stacking was changed: so that ONLY THE STRONGEST SLOW APPLIES, meaning your shrooms will always apply a stronger slow than Rylais meaning buying this item will do absolutely nothing except apply a 1 second 20% slow on your q, just buy a frozen mallet at that point

Core (AP) items:

3115.png- Core on Teemo for a couple reasons;
  1. Provides a bunch of stats that Teemo loves (Ability power, attack speed, cooldown reduction, on hit damage)
  2. Provides a minimum of +27 damage on hit because the passive scales from its own stats (15+(15%ap) = 15+12)
  3. Is more damage on a full AP Teemo build over a Wits End because at full build you have 400-600 ap meaning Nashors will do [+15 (15% of 600 which is 90 = 105 damage on hit] and is still more damage with a full attack speed build over wits end (Because of nashors, liandries and a rageblade cause nashors to do around 60~ damage on hit)
3151.png- Core on Teemo as well;
  1. Provides Ability Power, Damage over time, Increases your damage per second in combat and Health which Teemo enjoys.
  2. Provides a massive boost of damage to your shrooms, because your shrooms deal the double damage from Liandires leading to 4% of the enemies max hp dealt every second (calculated at 2% every half second)
3089.png - Core on Teemo as with most ap champs.

Item ideas for final build:

3085.png3124.png- Both work if you want to go on hit Teemo. Hurricane because it applies your damage to 3 targets, as well as a lot of attack speed. Rageblade because after 6 autos your on hit damage applies twice every 2nd auto. However if you're playing an Attack Speed based Teemo you should most likely do this build:
  1. Build Nashors, Hurricane, Rageblade, Gunblade, Deathcap + boots of your choice to maximize damage. Pure and simple.
3285.png3157.png 3135.png3100.png3146.png- All five work in specific situations,
Ludens if you're far ahead can apply on Shroom damage or Q damage for some extra burst,
Hourglass if you need some time to pause in a fight or for some added armor
Void if the enemy is stacking a lot of magic resistance.
Lich for some added burst as your q acts like a auto attack reset, leading to auto-Q-empowered auto for a lot of burst
Gunblade for sustain against anybody

3022.png3512.png - Full tank items for if you feel like tanking shit
Frozen mallet is great for kiting and just adding a lot of health
Zz'rot portal is a wonderful split pushing item if you need to carry by split pushing 24/7

3091.png WITS END IS NEVER A GOOD IDEA REALISTICALLY EXCEPT ON TANKMO
  • Literally the only reason to buy this is if you're going full tank with 0 ap

  • After getting some AP items Nashors does more (Read above under Nashors section)
  • The magic resistance is usefull but not worth getting the item
  • Gives less attack speed and no ability power
  • Wits end is only average if you're building almost no ability power (like rageblade + gunblade) but even then If you build Nashors it will do almost the same damage as wits end as well as giving you more stats

Shroom Placement Back to Top

This link has a map of the Rift with dots placed around it (placed as if you are the blue team)

Red dots are for wave control and enemy control
Green dots are for gank control and river control
Light Blue dots are for map control
Yellow dots are for Epic Monster control

A brief summary of each placement:

Wave control shrooms are mainly for the laning phase of the game and don't provide much use other than possibly damaging an enemy that's pushing that wave

Gank control shrooms are meant to give you a brief window of slow on the enemy jungler to allow you to retreat from the fight and allow the turret to discourage the enemies from a fight, also usefull at any point of the game to control the river.

Map control shrooms are meant to limit the enemy movement through their own jungle and apply annoyance + damage to the enemies, also provides you with vision of the enemy to note movement of them

Epic monster control shrooms are simply that, shrooms meant to limit the enemies ability to sneak the epic monster, the shroom behind the epic monster is to allow you to see the hp of the monster and see if its behind actively taken or not.
