Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png Flash is so useful overall that you'll rarely, if ever, see a champion without it. It offers an instant blink, so it's easy to catch up to someone or get away through short walls.  Take this spell always.

12.png Teleport is handy when you need to go from one side of the map to the other immediately, and, in my personal opinion, it should be taken alongside flash all the time.

Of course, you can always bring 14.png Ignite over Teleport if you really want to secure a kill (Or if your laning oponent is someone who heals a lot or constantly, like 8.png Vladimir or 106.png  Volibear

Most of the other summoner spells are not really recommended. Though they're not bad, the others provide more overall utility.

Masteries Back to Top

Here's where most teemo guides can NEVER agree on: Deathfire or Thunderlords? My thoughts are: Pick whichever you feel better with. Personally I go for Deathfire cuz it has no cooldown, and with what you'll be building the extra constant damage is not gonna go by unnoticed. However, if you wanna burst someone down, go nuts with Thunderlords.

And no, don't do Grasp of the Undying, seriously, you don't benefit that much from it since you're ranged and also your health pool doesn't really grow much.

teemopassive.png Camouflage: Stand still and you'll go into stealth. And when you break stealth you get a short Attack Speed buff. It sounds a bit underwhelming, but if you get creative, it can be great. You can also stealth by being inside a bush even if you move while inside of it. True Sight will, of course, make you visible, but wont break stealth, so always be mindful from rengarR.png Rengar's Thrill of The Hunt, destiny.png Twisted Fate's Destiny and the such.
As a fun note that can lead to interesting strategies with friends: shenstandunited.png Shen's Stand United will shield you and teleport him to you without breaking stealth!

blindingdart.png Blinding Dart: The only blinding ability left in the game. You shoot a dart that deals magic damage and temporarily blinds your enemies, making their Auto Attacks miss (Deals no damage). HOWEVER, ON-HIT EFFECTS FROM ITEMS AND ABILITIES STILL APPLY  (Except for vaynesilveredbolts.png Vayne's Silver Bolts). The damage is also suprisingly good for bursting, especially if you buy 3285.png Luden's Echo
First point on Level 2. Max this ability Second

movequick.png Move Quick: Well... You move faster, passively (Until you get hit by a turret, jungle monster or champion) and if you activate it you'll get a short burst of even more speed that will persist for 3 seconds, regardless of if you get hit or not. It's good for chasing, escaping, and trying to reach Point B from Point A a bit faster. It's still a bit underwhelming, so don't expect to go sonic fast or use it to break free from slowing effects.
First point on Level 3. Max this Last

toxicshot.png Toxic Shot: This is 30% of the reasons why folks in League of Legends hate Teemo. Your Auto Attacks deal magic damage on hit and poison your target, dealing damage over time that gradually decreases until the effect ends. Hitting the same target while the darts are in effect will reset the poison timer, not stack it. This is where you shine. The poison is strong enough to be a danger, and can even steal-- get you a kill you only wanted to help on.
First point on Level 1. Max this First

bantamtrap.png Noxious Trap: This is a very simple ult, but oh boy can it be good. You throw a mushroom trap that after a short delay, becomes armed. When armed, said trap is stealthed and will last for 5 minutes. If an enemy minion, champion or jungle monster steps on it, it'll explode, causing a very powerful poison effect and a slowing effect as well. The damage this does later in game is insane, and you can even get kills with this without even KNOWING that you did something. You can have as many traps as you can place anywhere on the map. Try to always place them slightly to the side of the lane and in the jungle to keep map control.
Some things to keep in mind:
  • You and your allies can use 12.png Teleport into your traps
  • If an enemy has True Sight on you or another allied champion and they are too close to a trap, the trap CAN be seen by the enemy
  • Visible traps can be attacked. 2 auto-attacks (3 if ranged) will destroy them
Since it's an ultimate ability, you'll drop a point on it the moment you can

Quick explanation on itemizing Teemo:

3151.png Liandry's Torment was basically made for Teemo; you get magic penetration, which is always handy, you also get the very powerful burn effect from all your spells (Which is stronger if the target is slowed, so those traps you placed? Yeah... They're gonna sting alright)

3115.png Nashor's Tooth is pretty much made for Teemo as well. The increased attack speed and the On-hit AP damage make your basic attacks do A TON of AP damage, and the cooldown reduction is a nice bonus to help mine the fields faster.

3146.png Hectech Gunblade is an amazing tool often overlooked for Teemo. You get both AD and AP out of it, and you also get Lifesteal from ALL OF YOUT ABILITIES (though the Shrooms don't heal much unless they explode with 3 or more targers in the blast radius). Activating it shoots the gun to slow down an enemy and deal AP damage too, and it scales, so it'll definetly hurt.

3135.png Void Staff is basically "No Magic Resist detected". Which is extremely helpful, especially if your enemies are building said Magic Resist.

3157.png Zhonya's hourglass gives a lot of AP and also defense, that's a good combination. It's active can also save your life... or just give you 2.5 seconds before the screen turns gray.

3165.png Morellonomicon is absolutely vital when you're fighting against oponents like 8.png Vladimir or a team with a 16.png Soraka since it causes grievous wounds to low HP enemies (Which means healing effects are reduced on them). It also has CDR and gives increased Mana Regen, which is always a treat.

3285.png Luden's Echo is amazing, but with Teemo it can get tricky: The extra-painful burst of AP that comes with it can certainly help deal a crap-ton of damage in a shorter ammount of time, but the thing is that your Noxious Traps can proc this accidentally on minion waves, so personally I do not recommend it over the core build listed above.

3091.png Wit's End is way better than you might think. It reduces enemy magic resistance when you hit them with an Auto Attack and gives you some (Up until 5 stacks). It's not better than Nashor's Tooth, however, since it's AP damage is inferior and it doesn't offer CDR.

3026.png Guardian Angel is, in an overall perspective, the best defense item in the game, with pretty good stats and that very, very beautiful passive.

As a last note, I really can't recommend 3116.png Rylai's Crystal Scepter. The HP bonus might be nice, but Zhonya's better overall and the passive doesn't really synergize as well as you'd might think. Some people think it does cuz of Liandry's, however Teemo's Traps already slow, dealing the full effect, and the extra damage on his Q isn't really worth it compared to using other items in general

Closure Back to Top

This guide is a work-in-progress. I'm definetly no challenger, so I'm learning as I go. I am, however, pretty confident in my Teemo. and I decided to try and share my opinions and maybe help someone who wants to try him out. Thanks for reading!
