Summoner Spells Back to Top

7.png  Heal

With the 30% movement speed and it also healing another friendly champion, this is quite a versatile spell for any Marksman at the moment, you can save teammates through correct use of this spell as it permanently gives health, compared to Barrier. Only disadvantage of Heal, is that 14.png Ignite reduces the healing amount by 50%, so do your best to use Heal whilst you do not have an Ignite on you!

1.png Cleanse

Still a solid choice but has to be used very well defensively to be as good as the other two defensive spells. (A Quicksilver Sash/Mercurial Scimitar is a great replacement for not having this spell with a heavy CC team against you). Taking Cleanse gives you a disadvantage during laning, but is great in teamfights. This is because it gives no HP enhancement, like Heal/Barrier do, therefore if taking this, I'd advise to play carefully in lane as your opponent will most likely have more effective HP than you do.

21.png Barrier

Since the nerf to Heal, where it no longer removes healing reduction debuffs and the late game Heal reduction in 4.13. Barrier still has it's uses and can be good to pick. When you think the team will take multiple ignites or vs multiple assassins/mages, where you feel that you will most likely get reduced healing from 14.png Ignite and 3165_32.png Morellonomicon. I like taking Barrier when playing Tristana in midlane, as most mid champions take Ignite, and Barrier is not at all affected by this, as it is a temporary shield.

3.png Exhaust

Taking a spell that is usually seen on a support may be seen as a bad thing, but it actually can be very versatile, especially if playing Tristana in the mid lane vs high burst champions. It can honestly win you a skirmish or a 1v1 just by putting it on the enemy target as they come in and attempt to burst you down, due to it reducing enemy movement speed and defenses, letting you get more E stacks/damage off and 40% damage reduction from them for 2.5 seconds! If you like to play aggressive while having a certain amount of self survivability in an hard laning phase or an early fight, I'd definitely advise giving Exhaust a shot!

4.png Flash

Mandatory spell on a lot of champions. Make sure to take this, great re-positioning spell. Allows for escaping and engaging. Can close a huge gap with Rocket Jump and Flash together. Great spell for dodging AOE CC such as Sona/Malphite ultimates.

------

These are the champions with healing reduction abilities in the game, from: (http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Healing)

55_64.png Katarina (R) - Death Lotus applies Grevious Wounds to all targets hit for 3 seconds.

110_64.png Varus (E) - Hail of Arrows creates an area of Desecrated Ground that afflicts enemies with Grievous Wounds while they remain inside.

These champions used to give healing reduction but do not anymore, do to reworks. Just in case you are coming back from a hiatus from league:

105_64.png Fizz (W) - Seastone Trident, when activated, empowers Fizz's autoattacks for 5 seconds, applying Grevious Wounds to enemies hit for 3 seconds.

21_64.png Miss Fortune (W) - Impure Shots, when activated, empowers Miss Fortune's autoattacks for 6 seconds, applying Grievous Wounds to enemies hit for 3 seconds.

18_64.png Tristana (E) - Explosive Shot applies Grievous Wounds to the enemy target for 5 seconds.

Masteries Back to Top

There are currently two very standard pages which would suit most Marksman champions since the S6 mastery update. The primary differences are the keystones to pick up, which offer slightly different playstyles. I will go over all of the points available and then talk about why each keystone is good.

The first mastery page (Fervor) is here:
(If you feel confident in getting autos off on enemies consistently)

cS0jR8R.png

The second mastery page (Thunderlord's) is here:
(If you are new to Tristana, this will give you a lot more opportunity to burst champions and more consistent damage throughput)

Vs36XKM.png

Ferocity Tree:
I pick up the attack speed and scaling attack damage from Fury as it scales into late game, which is perfect for Tristana.
The extra ability damage is good from Sorcery but more attack speed = faster E stacking!

Feast is a lot better for lane sustain compared to it's counterpart Double Edged Sword, which can be good for all in's but is very risky to take when there is so much damage in the game currently! The main reason I do not choose Double-Edged Sword is due to if you have it and the enemy ADC does not, you will take more damage than he would in a teamfight, which isn't worth the risk, with ADC's being quite squishy already!

Vampirism and Natural Talent are both good, with the latter giving an extra long sword worth of stats late game, however I feel personally that the extra lifesteal from Vampirism early during laning phase (with Doran's Blade also offering lifesteal) helps a lot to keep you healthy after a trade, especially as the Spell Vamp will work off of your abilities, which offers a lot more than the extra small amount of AD/AP that Natural Talent gives early/mid game.

Bounty Hunter and Oppressor are both very good talents as they are % based, meaning that the damage scales insanely well throughout the game. I like taking Oppressor due to the fact that it is more reliable, as you will do 2.5% increased damage (which you can proc with your W/Rocket Jump) no matter how many kills you have on enemy champions, whilst you would have had to kill at least half of their team personally once, to gain the same effect from Bounty Hunter!

Out of the Battering Blows (Armor Pen) and Piercing Thoughts (Magic Pen) we want the Armor Pen, so we will be picking up Battering Blows!

The keystone Fervor, basically allows you to stack up extra damage (only on champions) when attacking them, this is really good for Tristana as she primarily has to proc a lot of her damage from auto attacks and excels in extended fights, this means that the longer the fights go on, as long as you keep auto attacking when you can, you will be doing a lot of extra damage as it stacks up to 8 times! You can also get 2 stacks from using abilities on enemy champions, which is really helpful on Tristana as you are always trying to use your E onto enemies!

Cunning Tree:
As we are generally in combat, especially in bottom lane, we don't get much benefit from Wanderer, therefore extra damage to minions is always nice, I take Savagery for this reason. Wanderer can be good if you are playing mid Tristana and like to roam however!

Extra Potion duration is generally the best in this tree, as it restores mana, and makes your sustain in lane a little bit better. If playing mid Tristana, Assassin can be very good as it's a free 2% damage (again, scaling with the game) but in bottom lane, you do not get a lot of opportunity to use this talent sadly.

Merciless is a lot more beneficial than Meditation as you shouldn't be spamming your mana a ton, and 5% increased damage to champions below 40% is huge for trying to get the resets on kills/assists.

Dangerous Game is a pretty essential mastery that I would totally recommend getting as Tristana, as your Rocket Jump (W) resets on kills and assists it can easily help you win a 2v2 skirmish or help you get away from a teamfight, combined with the jump reset, it is a very powerful mastery point giving you the healing to possibility survive and ignite or a spell!

Precision we take for the same reason as the other tree, Armor Pen is great on Tristana and you don't need CDR from Intelligence as you will be getting your W/Rocket Jump reset a lot of the time!

Thunderlord's is a great keystone for a bit of extra consistent damage, it does not require the constant harass on enemies to be as effective compared to Fervor, it scales with your AD/AP so it will also scale with how fed you are getting in the game, it's very easy to proc Thunderlord's on Tristana as you can proc it with E/Explosive Shot and W/Rocket Jump as well as auto attacks, whilst only needing 3 to proc the extra damage. Great keystone for teamfights and a lot nicer to play in burst lanes (if you are with an AP support)

My Skill Order.

My personal preference in leveling abilities on Tristana is to gain a level 1 point in Explosive Shot (E) to ensure that you get level 2 first, though harassing your opponent out of lane with it, or using it on minions to gain the advantage with the added splash damage. At level 2 I then take her Rocket Jump (W) to make sure I have an escape in case their jungler comes, it also slows the enemy if we want to all in after a favorable trade. I then take her Q at level 3, to make sure I get more attacks off than my opponent in a skirmish and to make sure I don't miss CS through Explosive Shot (E) splashing. I will then put a few points in E, to ensure that the damage is still harassing them down a good amount.

Having a few points in Q when you finish your first item, whether it is BoTRK or IE, really helps, therefore I max this from either level 7/8 depending on how I am doing in lane and if I need the extra E damage. I then max E after and W last, as the CD of W resets on kills and the slowing amount isn't as important as the other two abilities.

Passive: Draw A Bead

Really solid passive, getting stronger and higher range each time you level, with recent patch changes, Riot have updated Tristana's abilities so they match this range, takes a bit of practice and getting used to her changing range, but can get a lot of free harass off as people underestimate from how far away she can shoot!

Rapid Fire (Q)

Great ability coming into the mid-game and during fights, it is a free attack speed steroid (yes, it costs nothing!) so be sure to make the most of the fact that it doesn't cost any mana. It has great synergy with Attack Speed items as it let's you have a lot more autos than most Marksmen who are at the same point in the game as you. Make sure to use this smartly, as when you attack a minion or champion, it reduces the cooldown of your Explosive Shot (E) by 0.5s for every basic/auto attack, this is 1.0s against champions. Tristana has a lot lower base attack speed than she did prior her rework and can feel sluggish to start with, so make sure to use Rapid Fire as much as possible.

Rocket Jump (W)

In patch 4.13, Rocket Jump was changed to slow targets for less early game, but more later on. This is quite a good change, as it means literally no one without a slow cleanse or a gap closer off CD can escape you when you jump on them in a teamfight. Her Rocket Jump resets on any kill or assist that she has been a part of, best way to think of it, an ADC Kha'zix. These jumps can be used incredibly well to bait and misposition the enemy, be careful however as there are certain abilities which can stop your jump mid flight, such as Thresh's Flay (E).
I will go over these more in the matchups section.

Since Tristana's rework, Rocket Jump can be used as more of an all in tool as it does more damage depending on the amount of Explosive Shot (E) stacks that are on the enemy minion or champion, if you jump onto the target with the shot on. It gets a 25% bonus damage increase for each stack that the enemy is affected with, Tristana can stack her Explosive Shot (E) up to 4 times, this means you can get 100% extra damage from jumping on them, it will also explode without any delay, similar to her doing an auto attack! A change that was made recently to this ability is that if you detonate a max stack E on a champion, your Rocket Jump is reset, so make sure to jump in with Rocket Jump when you have 4 stacks on a champion, as it will reset and your enemy generally doesn't expect it!

This is really good for clearing waves, for example if I put a Explosive Shot (E) on a Cannon Minion and shoot it 4 times and then Rocket Jump onto them, during the mid game, after first item has been completed, it will clear the whole wave, missing no CS.

Explosive Shot (E)

This spell has two elements to it:
Passive, where any enemies take magic splash damage. This can take a bit of getting used to, to ensure that you don't miss CS, the best advice I can give is to go into a Custom game to try to practice this, as it can be quite hard to last hit under tower. However later on in the game, it becomes a great wave clearing ability.

The Active, which came with Tristana's rework, places an Explosive Charge on an enemy minion/structure or champion. This stacks up to 4 times and is similar to a Zilean bomb (Q). If the target has 4 stacks and receives an auto attack, it will detonate before the timer has completed.

This is a really good spell as a lot of opponents that you face will not know or underestimate the amount of damage this can do, it is usable on towers also and does AOE damage around it, this can cause turret aggro so be careful, however I have got multiple kills from ADCs trying to CS under tower and not know that it would kill them as the range of the explosion is twice the amount on a tower.

Buster Shot (R)

This ability does a surprising amount of damage, even though it does not have AD scaling, this makes Tristana incredibly bursty at the points when she receives ranks in her ultimate. (@ levels 6/11/16) The knockback is also a great tool for Tristana to get away and create a gap which the enemy will not be able to reach her, if you knock a group of enemies back then Rocket Jump (W) away, there is a huge range between you, a lot more than a simple Flash would take you.

After her rework, this spell is still great for all ins as it is a great followup spell for the unexpected damage of Explosive Shot (E). Do not be afraid to use this defensively as a self peel however, as Tristana can still put out massive amounts of damage in teamfights with this being on cooldown.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Standard AD start, to maximize suitability and sustain in lane.
These items on first back ideally, BF is great as it's 1300g now. Extra 1/2 pots for sustain is good too. IE is the best item to rush on Tristana since BoTRK price increase.
If you are behind, don't be afraid of picking up a second Doran's/Pickaxe instead, these are still ideal for early laning, just not as strong as BF (care if enemy AD has one!)

Core Items

Standard AD boots. Can't really run any others as she benefits too much off of the Attack Speed. You want to rush Infinity Edge as fast as possible, as all your autos will be amplified and benefit greatly from your Rapid Fire (Q).
Shiv is still great on Tristana, I usually only get it if I'm crazily lacking waveclear in a teamcomp as I feel that the extra stats on Phantom Dancer gives her the edge in fights.
Rapid Fire Cannon is similar to Shiv, great extra range for an auto attack but the extra survivability Phantom Dancer gives is too good to pass up.
Great crit chance synergy for first 3 items, no lifesteal though. You want to pick up a Phantom Dancer as it got it's cost reduced in 6.3 and is very cheap for the amount of Attack Speed and stats it gives, the damage reduction (12%) on anyone you hit is very helpful also.
For 3rd big item look to whether their team is building heavy armor or HP on 2 or more champions - if armor LW, if HP, Giant Slayer otherwise you can start building lifesteal for BoTRK/Bloodthirster.
Bloodthirster is generally a lot better for long teamfights as it keeps you healthy and has a great amount of damage. If they have like 2+ supertanks however, with a lot of HP, consider BoTRK as an alternative, still very strong item with Tristana due to the Attack Speed.
General final offensive build. Furor enchant is great for kiting/catching people up.

Situational Items

Buy against any heavy CC/suppression team to ensure that you don't get oneshot! (Malzahar/Skarner/Warwick)
Good against any reset champions, as it gives you a second life, generally a solid choice.
Very good item against solid initiate champions, such as Malphite.
Great item, synergizes with Bloodthirster really well, helps just as much as a GA with the shield but let's you keep attacking whilst near death, standard defensive item when not needing a QSS.

The standard build focuses on winning through crits (RNG I know.) and therefore uses the synergy of Infinity Edge and Phantom Dancer/Rapid Fire Cannon together which gives 50% crit chance together, which when used with your Rapid Fire (Q) can chunk your enemies down very fast, especially whilst getting your Explosive Shot (E) damage on them too.

This build is quite similar to what a lot of AD's build at the moment with lifesteal coming from Doran's Blade and Vampirism.

Alternatively if you are facing a team with a large amount of tanks, you want to get as much Attack Speed and % HP shred as possible so the Bloodthirster is replaced with a BoTRK!

VS

Alistar

Medium

Have to be careful as there is he can Pulverise (Q) your Rocket Jump (W) mid air. With 6.3 they made his combo easier to hit, if you dodge his combo or he wastes it, make that prime opportunity to harass him down.

VS

Ashe

Easy
Ashe lacks the mobility that Tristana has, therefore as long as you dodge her Volley (W) and don't let her hit you when her passive is up, you should outtrade her with E. Once level 6, save your Rocket Jump (W) to dodge her ultimate)

VS

Blitzcrank

Easy

Blitz is generally a very easy lane to win if you dodge all of his abilities. Easier said than done however. Be careful of being in his melee range when if you Rocket Jump (W) away, as he can knock you out of it with his Power Fist (E) knock up.

If you time it right, you can Rocket Jump (W) out of his Rocket Grab (Q) so that you end up where the grab would have hit, it takes a bit of practice and some times a bit of luck, but knowledge of it helps!

Video Example:

VS

Braum

Medium

With the Braum changes in 4.13, he isn't as much of a threat as he used to be. Be careful not to use your ultimate whilst he has his shield up as a lot of the damage will be negated. If you dodge the majority of his Winter's Bite (Q) and Rocket Jump (W) out before he can trigger his passive, you will most probably go even in this lane.

VS

Caitlyn

Hard

This matchup depends how well the Caitlyn can use her range, if you can get any autos and your E off for free, then you have a good advantage in this lane. A lot of Caitlyn's will try to shove you into the turret as they know you struggle with farming under tower at low levels, so try to keep the lane evenly pushed.

Killing her may not be possible before 6, so keep this in mind.
With Season 6 this got a lot harder, you need to dodge her E or she will get a free headshot on you and pre-level 6 it can be very hard to win with the harass she does. Get what CS you can and you should win past level 6.

NOTE: Don't jump over traps, it still gets you caught in Rocket Jump.

Video Example:

VS

Corki

Hard

Corki trades very well early and therefore it can be hard to trade back with him, his auto and spell ranges are similar to Tristana's early levels so it can be hard to trade with him, similar to Caitlyn's you will beat him in all in's at 6, so play this to your advantage.

VS

Draven

Hard

Draven trade's like no other Marksman in League, he is hard to deal with at most points of the game, you will have to rely on your team to CC him in teamfights to get the damage down on him. Try to keep your E active on him and farm safely as giving him a kill and the extra gold from his 'Adoration' passive can easily snowball the lane in his favor.

NOTE: He can Stand Aside (E) and cancel your Rocket Jump (W) at it's current location, so be careful when jumping away from him at close range, or onto him.

VS

Ezreal

Medium

As long as you dodge Ezreal's abilities (Q,W and R), you can easily win this matchup, you have guaranteed damage, whilst he does not. Make sure to take note whether his Arcane Shift (E) is on CD when you all in him, to get the extra damage and slow from your Rocket Jump (W).

This is very hard to go against with Blue Build, you have a lot more burst than he does but there is no point jumping in when he has his Arcane Shift (E) up, try to bait this and then fight around the fact you have more burst damage!

VS

Graves

Hard

Similar to Corki, Graves is very strong early game, especially with the 4.13 buffs to his Q (He hits 40% extra for each part of his Q that hits). So make sure to try your best to dodge his Q and harass him down with your E and favorable trades. He will win vs you in an even all in, as he scales better with AD early than you do, therefore look to outscale him in the mid-late game.

VS

Janna

Medium

Janna isn't the hardest support to lane against, however she negates a lot of your harass as her shield pretty much protects for the same amount early. Therefore when in a lane with Janna, don't expect kills to happen before 6, play safely and trade well when her shield is down.

NOTE: Her Howling Gale (Q) can stop your Rocket Jump (W), be careful of this when you engage.

VS

Jinx

Medium

The matchup vs Jinx, can revolve a ton around the supports, as she just harasses just as well with her Rockets (Q) as you do with E, therefore look to go even in this lane and only take an all-in when you can be sure that it won't be a 1 for 1 trade.

NOTE: Make sure not to jump over her Traps (E) with your W, as you will get rooted in place still.

VS

Kalista

Medium

Great matchup for Tristana, as you have the advantage, Kalista likes going against opponents who have the opportunity to miss their abilities or not get sustained damage on her in lane, as you Explosive Shot (E) cannot be dodged, you want to fight around this.

You want to make sure that you don't fight when your Explosive Shot (E) is down and try to fight when her Rend (E) is down, if she doesn't reset it on creeps! You will outtrade her in any short skirmish fights but the longer the fight goes on, the more it is her favor, just be careful of this!

VS

Karma

Hard

Karma can be a hard support to deal with as Tristana she scales really well with AP early and does a lot of damage with her Soulflare (Q+R), which as Tristana you cannot really deal with, as you want to wear your opponents down. She also has a strong shield (E), which counteracts your E DoT, therefore only look for trades when both of these abilities have been used as it is unlikely you will win a trade when they are up.

She is a lot weaker at 6 than most champions due to starting with her ultimate, therefore it may be a good opportunity to snowball off of that weakness.

VS

Kog'Maw

Medium

Kog'Maw is a tough matchup due to him being the same type of champion as Tristana, a late-game hyper carry, however Kog'Maw has the duelling advantage early due to his Bio-Arcane Barrage (W) dealing extra % health damage. However at level 6, Tristana has more burst considering the same items, make the most of the early game powerspike when fighting against him. He will not be able to land his passive on you, as you will be able to jump away.

VS

Leona

Medium

Leona can be a tough support to go against in bot lane. However she is a lot easier to deal with than poke supports. Concentrate on dodging her Xenith Blade (E) so she can't chain it into a stun. You can Rocket Jump (W) her E and her Solar Flare (R) if you time it well enough. Look to go for trades when her E is on cooldown, as she'll have no gap closer.

VS

Lucian

Medium

Lucian used to be a lot harder of a matchup before his changes to his range. He will look to shoot his Q at you through the minions to hit you, make sure you make this hard for him by not standing in line with your minions. His dash in 4.13 is nearly the same CD as your Rocket Jump, use this to your advantage as he isn't able to dash as much early game.

Your support should be able to help you a lot with harass as he only has 500 range, whilst you start with 550, try to play around his double shot and you should do even damage.

VS

Lulu

Hard

Similar to Karma, Lulu's poke is really hard to deal with early. You will have a hard time trading unless her Glitterlance (Q) is down. At level 6 you may need jungle help with an all in as Lulu's ultimate counteracts Tristana's Buster Shot.

VS

Morgana

Medium

Morgana isn't too hard to play against, but she will deny you a lot of lane pressure. She can Black Shield (E) 3 out of your 4 abilities (W, E, R) and poke you with her Tormented Soil (W) harass. A positive part of this matchup is that you can almost never get caught by her Soul Shackles (R) ultimate as you can jump and Flash if needed.

Play around her Dark Binding (Q) and look to harass with E when her shield is down.

VS

Nami

Hard

Nami is one of the toughest supports to go against currently, as she does well with a lot of Marksmen due to her Tidecaller's Blessing (E) helping with harass and trades. As Tristana, you want to look to get your E on the kill target and try to wither them down whilst not taking too much damage, as they are a sustain lane and are looking to beat you over time.

NOTE: Nami's Q and R can both stop Rocket Jump (W) so be very careful with it's use when playing against her in lane.

VS

Nautilus

Hard

Nautilus is very tanky throughout the game, whilst still doing a fair chunk of damage - what gives? ;)

He has a lot of CC, so do your best to avoid his Dredge Line (Q) and try to make sure that you are not in melee range so that he can auto attack you, as it will proc his Staggering Blows (Passive) which roots you in place, which is not good as the opposing ADC will most likely get damage off on you.

Once he gets his ultimate Depth Charge (R), do your best to force him to waste it on your Support/Jungler or at a bad time on you, due to it being a point and click move, he cannot miss hitting you and most likely chaining you with a Q straight after.

VS

Quinn

Medium

If you keep harassing her with E and not going in for trades when her blind is up, you should win vs her. If you get marked by her (random) try your best to not get hit, as she will do a lot of damage on the next hit.

Be careful of her new blind on Q, it has no counterplay currently and you will lose a trade if you get hit by it! You do have the more burst potential at 6, use this to your advantage!

VS

Sivir

Easy

This matchup isn't too hard, yet it's all about Sivir's Spell Shield (E) CD, her Spell Shield is similar to Morgana's yet it only blocks one ability. As Tristana is a very bursty champion, this can cause problems in all in's, therefore know whether it is up when going in. The CD of Spell Shield @ level 1 is 22s. Make sure not to trade when her Ricochet (W) is up, as you will get hit multiple times and lose the trade.

VS

Sona

Hard

A good Sona will be hard to lane against, as they will constantly poke you down (Similar to Lulu/Karma) whilst healing their ADC up, you don't want to look for trades in this lane and most likely want to go a sustain build depending on how aggressive the Sona is playing.

VS

Soraka

Hard

Sustain for days. Don't generally look for a kill in this lane, get a free E off when you can but don't take too much harass for free. She will be mini reworked again soon I'm pretty sure!

VS

Taric

Hard

Stun? Check. Armor passive? Check. Heal? Check.

You aren't wearing this guy down, sit back and farm, don't waste too much trying to harass him down. Luckily, he isn't too popular at the moment.

VS

Thresh

Medium

Thresh can be an easy or a hard matchup, depending on the skill level of the player. His shield isn't generally used to stop your E damage, so harass is okay. However watch out for his amplified auto attack through Flay (E), it can hurt.

You can be hooked and flayed mid jump, therefore it is never wise to be near melee range of him. You are able to jump over the box, yet you will still take the damage and the slow. Concentrate on staying at range whilst harassing and dodging hooks to win this lane outright.

VS

Twitch

Medium

Twitch has seen a lot less play recently due to his stealth changes. As Tristana you want to get your E off on him with him getting the minimum poison stacks on you as possible. You should win each trade like this and will win the all in at 6 having worn him down. Do not underestimate him however as he scales just as well as Tristana later on.

VS

Varus

Easy

Varus is very similar to Vayne in the sense that you don't want to allow him to get 3 stacks on you and then clear it with his arrow (Q) or his AoE (E). If you can dodge these skillshots you should win the lane with ease. You can time your Rocket Jump (W) also to jump after Varus has hit his ultimate and therefore he is out of range to auto attack you.

VS

Vayne

Medium

Vayne isn't too hard of a matchup, you have to be careful that she only ever gets 2 Silver Bolts (W) procs on you before you stop trading, as she will do huge damage on the 3rd. You have the range advantage late game, whilst she has the mobility. Tristana has more burst than her at 6, yet she will do more sustained damage, so be careful about positioning, so she cannot Tumble (Q) in ult to gain stealth and wall stun you with Condemn (E).

VS

Zilean

Hard

Hard to trade with. Will bomb you without you being able to do much about it. Relies a lot on your support in this lane pressuring them away. Try not to fight them at 6 unless ahead as his ultimate counteracts Tristana's style of gameplay.

VS

Zyra

Medium

Zyra is a less problematic poke support, as long as you deal with her plants as she activates them and try your best to dodge all of her Grasping Roots (E) you should win the lane through E harass. Take care after you have killed her however, as she may aim her passive at where you land if you Rocket Jump (W).

NOTE: The knock up from her ultimate can stop Rocket Jump (W).

Pros and Cons - Tristana Back to Top

Pros:

  • Highest consistent range in the game. (Twitch's/Kog'maw's are abilities)
  • Kha'zix-like resetable jump on kill/assist, allows for godlike positioning.
  • Hard to catch with multiple get outs, flash/ult/jump.
  • Hyper-scaling AD, tons of damage later on, only gets stronger.
  • Zilean-like ability on E, tons of damage on champions/minions/structures.

Cons:

  • Ultimate doesn't scale off AD (would be op).
  • Doesn't do well against insta CC (i'm looking at you Vi/Nautilus)
  • Her E causes her to naturally push, not always good. (higher chance of being ganked)
  • Weakish midgame when not ahead.

About Me Back to Top

Hello!

I've been playing a lot of Tristana since the start of Season 4, as I wanted a niche champion that no one really played.
I found that she was quite strong and I didn't really know why people weren't playing her a lot more.
Then a few patches ago, the AD items got reworked and she became a top tier pick almost overnight!
I have been sitting on this guide for a while, hoping that maybe one day I can offer a helping hand with the champion that I've grown to love.

Though learning her it has helped me from Unranked to Diamond 1 90lp (rip masters dream) in Season 4 and hopefully I can continue to improve. I am aware that there were a few Tristana guides already, but I wanted to share my success with everyone and see what their opinions were of the way I played her and keep this up to date after her rework, as there aren't many new guides about it.

I may start streaming once I fix my internet (UK op.) so any questions or anything, feel free to ask and I'll try to get back to you.

Here are some stats that I've got over Season 4:

Here are some of Season 5 so far (slowly getting better over the season!):

Thanks for reading, I hope I managed to help some people out at least with how I play Tristana and my point of view.

If there is anything you feel that I could add or that the guide is missing or that I'm wrong about, please do say and I can try to fix it/update it!

Keep it real guys and hopefully I'll see some of you on the rift.
