Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png FLASH

- This is your standard escape from situation such as a full on early gank for when your 'Pick A Card' pickacard.png  is on cooldown. Twisted Fate is very prone to death due to his lack of mobility and escape techniques, I would only recommend Flashing out of a gank if you know it is certain death, try your best to avoid situation such as this but if death seems apparent don't be afraid to use it.

- Combined with your gold card, Flash can be lethal to your opponents in the laning phase and teamfights due to your high burst after lich bane using your 'Gold Card' -> 'Wild Cards' -> 'Stacked Deck' -> 'Lich bane Auto Attack' Combo, if your opponent is below half health this is an almost guaranteed kill.

14.png IGNITE

- Ignite is key for aggressive Twisted Fate players, this will allow you to dominate the lane using your full combo and placing ignite on them to finish them off, without ignite your opponent is usually left with a sliver of health allowing them to escape and denying you that all important kill or even first blood.

- Ignite can also be used as you are fighting your opponent to give you that slight oomph to your burst allowing you to lock down the kill slightly easier, this also helps a lot vs Healing / Spell Vamp champions such as 13.png50.png76.png8.png Etc.

12.png TELEPORT

- This allows you to apply pressure throughout the entire map especially due to Twisted Fates ultimate ability. Teleport is a safe pick for if you are not confident about beating your opponent in a 1v1 situation as this allows you to out-roam your opponent thus snowballing your other lanes and winning the game.

6.png GHOST

- Ghost is worth considering due to the lengthy flash cooldown, you will cover much more ground over a period of time using this ability over the instant Flash ability. To really make ghost worth it over ignite or any other spell you should use it as soon as you complete your burst so you are able to catch up with your opponent... Remember, ghost isn't an insane speed boost such as Jinx's Excite, it's merely a slight speed boost over time.

1.png CLEANSE

- Cleanse is rarely used and not entirely needed although it may be picked due to your squishy defense and lack of easy escape, If you are more of a passive Twisted Fate player then I would recommend this summoner spell, if you are an aggressive Twisted Fate player, forget all about it.

3.png EXHAUST

- Exhaust is a brilliant Summoner Spell to take against Attack Damage Bruiser champions such as 92.png39.png114.png and sustained high burst champions such as 103.png69.png7.png.

21.png BARRIER

- Barrier is a great choice vs high burst mid lane champions and teams with a lot of Crowd Control as it is still useable when you are stunned etc. You are also able to shield bait people such as a leblanc into a full combo under turret, if this occurs then hit barrier and burst her down with your full combo for a kill.

Masteries Back to Top

- This is the standard mastery page for Twisted Fate, if you plan on getting 45% cooldown reduction with only two items such as 3100.png + 3165.png then I would recommend that you choose Intelligence over Precision.

- The thunderlords proc really helps when you are trying to unleash your full combo onto someone and get the all important one hits off to eliminate the carries in the teamfighting phase and cause a lot of damage in the laning phases.

- There are other mastery mages you are able to use but I will not be explaining that page as it would be classed as more of a supportery page, in which I do not use as I am more of an aggressive Twisted Fate player. (Sorry for anyone who was looking for a certain mastery page)

If you are able to harass heavily I would advise you take E 2nd and then level up Q through levels 3 and 4, always make sure you put your points in Q and R when it is available to you.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

This is if you going again heave skillshot harass such as a Brand or Xerath or you are generally not as good at dodging skillshots.
This Start is for if you are confident against your lane opponent and you know you can do well in the lane matchup.
I would recommend this stat against Attack Damage Mid Laners due to their harass potential.
This is a very strong start at the moment as it can either build into a Rod Of Ages Or a Sheen / Lich Bane.

Core Items

    1. You want to rush Lich Bane along the sheen build as this is a lot of Twisted Fates damage in his combo which will give you some real power.
    2. You should get boots of speed if you haven't already done so. Then you should move onto a Ludens Echo for the burst potential, wave clearance and 5% movement speed.
    3. You should now pick up some boots, choose your boots depending on what you feel you need. If you feel like you need to be faster agains your opponents then you should pick up some boots of Swiftness. You should also pick up the Enchantment Alacrity as it will give you some nice additional speed.
4 + 5. You should pick yourself up a deathcap for its Incredible passive and Ability Power. The void staff will allow you to do much more damage to tanks and general Magic Resistance Champions, Pick this up if necessary.
    6. I would always recommend picking up zhonyas somewhere down the line as it's active will save you in many situations and can turn a teamfight.
Alternate starting item - I would choose this if you are against a much burstier champion and you prefer to have a bit of health and sustain behind you instead of just pure damage.

Situational Items

These are two great items for Cooldown Reduction, Pick morello if you feel confident with your lane and Athenes if you are taking extensive poke and harass.
Abyssal can be good in place of Void staff if they do not have a substantially tanky team and have a lot of Ability Power poke.
This is not in my preference but you can switch to Nashors Tooth if the enemy has low Magic Resist and you can get in Auto Attack Range.

Starting Items

- If you are against skillshot reliant / heavy champions such as 103.png101.png69.png30.png99.png then this is is where you should choose the 1001.png2003.png Start due to the movement speed from the boots and the additional health potions.

- If you are against lanes in which you feel you will be dominant such as 55.png13.png74.png you should go with the  1056.png2003.png start as this allows for the extra Ability Power, Health and mana regen allowing you to harass more often.

- If you are against heavily Attack Damage reliant champions such as 238.png157.png91.png you should start with the 1029.png2031.png as this will allow you to block a lot of their early incoming damage and give you more sustain in you matchup.

Cooldown Reduction vs Burst damage

- There are two main builds on Twisted Fate, the first build is Burst damage and this is where you rely on 3285.png to allow you those easy picks and 1 shot the enemy carries with ease. The other build relies on getting the maximum Cooldown reduction early into the game with 3165.png or 3174.png. I have tried both builds other thousands of games and I tend to go with the Ludens Echo build as I prefer to one shot the carries instead of be more utility based for the whole teamfight e.g. gold carding as many people as I can and letting the team finish them off as this is more like a support role.

Twisted Fates Assassin Build

Pros;

- A lot of burst in the early game.

- More chase and flee potential with the Ludens 5% Movement Speed.

- You can still get 40% Cooldown Reduction in the later game with 3158.png + Scaling Cooldown Reduction Glyphs.

- You can one shot anyone under roughly 2000 Health Points if you proc your 3100.png + 3285.png correctly.

Cons;

- It takes until late game before you can hit the 40% Cooldown Reduction limit and you will have to sacrifice your Magic Resistance Glyphs for Scaling Cooldown Glyphs.

- If you get caught out it's hard to escape without the extra Crowd Control which is produced by 3165.png or 3174.png and without the Magic Resistance from 3174.png.

- You are very weak defensively early game due to the Cooldown Reduction Glyphs instead of the Magic Resistance Glyphs.

-You will have no Mana Regeneration so you will have to rely on CSing with the Blue card heavily or obtain a Blue Buff.

Twisted Fates Mage Build

Pros;

- After you have obtained 3158.png + 3165.png or 3174.png you can use your 'Pick A Card' every ~3.5 seconds.

- You have plenty of mana sustain other than your Blue Card which will allow you to stay in lane longer and out sustain your lane opponent.

- You have more Damage Per Second Output in the early game due to more abilities able to be used.

- You can harass using the Grievous Wounds from the 3165.png Passive.

Cons;

- You will end up losing around 400~ Damage by using 3165.png and around 450~ by using 3174.png

- In the late game you will only have mr runes which makes the assassin build stronger in the late game.

- You will lose out on a lot of movement speed and you will find it a struggle to execute a clean one shot on the enemy's carries.

My usual build is the assassin Twisted Fate as I enjoy that play style and it's what I have gotten use to over the years of playing twisted fate. Saying this, both builds are as good as eachother, you just have to find out which one fits your playstyle the most and the only way you will do this is by playing both builds thoroughly e.g. 100~ games on each build.

When do I use each build?

Twisted Fates Assassin Build

The Assassin build should be used when you are confident that you will beat your lane opponent and you are going to be playing Twisted fate in an aggressive manor, this means that you are not scared of your lane opponents damage and you are confident that you will get the clear advantage over them. This will allow you to dominate your lane and apply pressure directly to other lanes, snowballing them and leading your team to victory.

Twisted Fates Mage Build

Use the Cooldown Reduction build (3165.png / 3174.png) when you are cautious of your opponent's damage output or early kill potential, also use the 3027.png when you think that you are going to play very passively during the lane phase as you do not have your general burst potential as you do with the 3100.png + 3285.png. Also once you purchase the Rod Of Ages you will have to aim for the late game due to how the item works and you will not be able to gank you allied lanes as easy as you would be able to if you was using the alternative build.

VS

Ahri

Medium

Summoner Spells: 4.png21.png

Starting Items: 1001.png2003.png2003.png2003.png2003.png

Ahri is a scary lane to go Against when you are playing Twisted fate, She gains a lot of kill pressure once she hits level 6 and due to your low base movement speed this can make things a little tricky.

Stay behind your own minions and CS until you hit level 6, when you have the time and availability try to gank other lanes or call your Jungler to come and gank her before she has her ultimate to escape.

Once the lane has snowballed in your favour this should be an easy match up and you will find that you can one shot her in the late game, just make sure you do not get charmed and it will be an easy game for you.

VS

Akali

Medium

Summoner Spells: 4.png14.png

Starting Items: 1056.png2003.png2003.png

In the start of the laning phase you must harass her as much as possible due to her poor pre level 6 laning phase, Place a point in 'Stacked Deck' once you hit level 2 and continue to harass her as hard as you can.

Once she hits level 6 she will gain a lot of kill pressure so you will be forced into a more passive playstyle, make sure you do not waste your 'Pick A Card' as you will need this to sun her if she unts onto you.

Play out the rest of the game safely and outroam the Akali and the game should run smoothly for you and your teammates.

VS

Anivia

Medium

Summoner Spells: 4.png6.png

Starting Items: 1027.png2003.png2003.png2003.png

Anivia will try to harass you with her Q as much as she can to get her initial bursty poke out the way before you turn it on her, if you can dodge her Q's and make sure you punish her with auto attacks when she tries to CS her creeps you will have an easy lane.

If you feel confident vs Anivia I would recommend getting 'Stacked Deck' at level 2 and poke her down until you get to level 4 and it should be an easy kill for you by that point or at least knock her down to egg form.

VS

Annie

Hard

Summoner spells: 4.png21.png

Starting Items: 1027.png2003.png2003.png2003.png

Annie is a very hard matchup for Twisted Fate, she can prevent you from CSing by standing there with a stun ready to throw it at you.

In the late game she will be able to one shot you with her infernalguardian.png -> incinerate.png -> disintegrate.png Combo so I would recommend building the mage Twisted Fate build with a 3027.png and an 3174.png and you should be ok in the late game, just keep an eye on her stun at all times. (remember she has to use 5 abilities before her stun is up)

VS

Aurelion Sol

Medium

Starting Items: 1001.png2003.png2003.png2003.png2003.png

Summoner Spells: 4.png12.png

Aurelion sol will be on the aggressive side and attempt to get as much poke off on you as possible with his aurelionsolW.png and aurelionsolQ.png this is why the boot start is necessary to escape the rings of aurelionsolW.png and stop you from taking any more stacked damage.

When it comes to the lane make sure you are always on the lookout for aurelionsolQ.png as this is the main lockdown Aurelion Sol needs to kill you, DO NOT run away from it, predict the path of it... and run to the side as it only get bigger over time thus being more likely to hit you if you run away.

Play safe in the early game and CS as well as possible and then use your ult to out-roam him and Ping SS every time he is missing, this roams can be devastating for a team and they need to be spotted early.

VS

Azir

Easy

Summoner Spells: 4.png12.png

Starting Items: 1056.png2003.png2003.png

In the early game Azir will be very annoying but just stay back and farm with wildcards.png until he makes a mistake that you can take advantage of or wait it out until you reach level 6 and can gank other lanes with ease.

You will be more useful than him once you reach level 6 as you can exert much more pressure than he can around the map using your destiny.png If you are struggling that much in the early game then invest in an 3174.png and this should help you out a lot.

VS

Brand

Medium

Summoner Spells: 4.png6.png

Starting Items: 1001.png2003.png2003.png2003.png2003.png

Start with boots vs Brand as this will totally negate his damage if you dodge his skillshots, He usually uses his brandfissure.png to shove your back casters and get you under your turret to make it hard for you to CS so stay away from your caster minions and watch carefully for the Ring that appears before the pillar of flames.

You should also be able to out-stun him due to how his stun works which gives you to tactical advantage, just make sure you have a minion in-between you so he can't land his brandblaze.png and you should have an easy matchup from there on.

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium

Summoner Spells: 4.png6.png

Starting Items: 1001.png2003.png2003.png2003.png2003.png

Cassiopeia relies on hitting her cassiopeianoxiousblast.png or cassiopeiamiasma.png and then repeatedly using cassiopeiatwinfang.png to burst you down, when her Q or W is down is the prime time for you to go in a do a little bit of burst damage and get back out again.

You will easily out roam her post level 6 due to her low mobility and map presence but when it gets to the team fighting stage one good ult from her can change the whole fight around so try your best to get that gold card of early and even 4.png if it is necessary.
