Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png - Flash

If your Mobility Boots don't kick in, use this to get out of the situation. A staple for nearly every champ.

11.png - Smite

You kinda need this to even get your jungle items... Just saying that it MIGHT be a good idea to take Smite.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6.png - Ghost

The "Poor Man's Flash". I wouldn't take it, but I can lead a horse to the watering hole but I can't make it drink. The point is, use your own judgement.

Masteries Back to Top

I won't talk about every mastery here.

I WILL talk about:

- Fury - Vi likes throwing punches.  This will let her do more of that.

- Secret Stash - The increased regen and the 15 mana restore will save you in your early jungle!

- Merciless - The lower their health, the more damage Vi does. Finish them!

- Stormraider's Surge - Usually as tank Vi you can get this off. If you're going damage Vi, you're almost always get this off. The increased movement speed and slow resistance will help you to chase an enemy down.

Let's get to know the skills that make Vi who she is.

vipassive.png - Blast Shield (Passive)

I cannot tell you how many times this ability saved my beehind in the jungle. Upon hitting an enemy with an ability (including jungle monsters), Vi acquires a shield equal to 10% of her max health for 3 seconds.

viQ.png - Vault Breaker (Q)

Upon first cast, Vi is slowed by 15% as she charges her fist. This charge increases range over 1.25 seconds. Upon second cast, she quickly dashes in the direction of your cursor dealing physical damage and applying her W to all enemies hit. Damage dealt is reduced by 25% if the attack hits minions. Vi stops if she collides with an enemy champion, knocking the champion back. I would recommend starting with this and maxing this ability first.

viW.png - Denting Blows (W)

This is my personal favorite, because it's a passive (That's right! No button mashing required! Save that W for Overwatch!) Every 3rd attack deals an additional percentage of the target's max health as attack damage. This also reduces their armor by 20% and grants you 30% attack speed for 4 seconds. This stacked on top of Stormraider's can guarantee a kill if done right. Not to mention, each of her other abilities apply this passive. Take this ability second, but save this skill for last when leveling up.

viE.png - Excessive Force (E)

(Insert some police brutality joke here) This causes Vi's next basic attack to deal physical damage to the target and enemies behind it! She charges a punch every 13.3 seconds and can hold a max of 2 charges at once. Take this skill last, but upgrade this second.

viR.png - Assault and Battery (R)

This is what Vi is known for! She targets an enemy champion and chases it down, knocking it up for 1.25 seconds, dealing physical damage. While charging, she cannot be stopped and will deal 75% damage to enemies in the way, knocking them aside. This can be used to engage or to finish a target off. If you're quick enough, you can use Challenging Smite just before the knockup phase to deal more damage. Keep in mind, however, that a poorly timed ult can leave Vi a sitting duck. Take this at Level 6 and upgrade it whenever possible.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    For starting Blue
    For starting Red

Core Items

You need these. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
Build after you decide to build against AD or AP

Situational Items

    Against AD
    Against AP
It's dangerous to counterjungle alone! Take this!

1412.png - Skirimisher's Sabre; Enchantment: Warrior

You need this. The increased damage and CDR allows Vi to throw more punches and get Stormraider's off sooner. You need this, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise!

3117.png - Boots of Mobility

No self-respecting Vi player would be caught dead without these fine kicks. It's cheap and the out of combat movement speed will have you buzzing around the jungle like a jackrabbit on crack. This will also help your ganks, as Vi's Q slows her down temporarily.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3075.png - Thornmail

If a pesky AD champion like Yasuo keeps killing you, take this item instead of Dead Man's Plate.

3742.png - Dead Man's Plate

Health, armor, AND bonus Attack Damage? Sounds like a win-win-win to me!

3143.png - Randulin's Omen

The armor and the reduced damage taken from critical strikes makes it invaluable against AD champions. Just don't forget your active!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3190.png - Locket of the Iron Solari (Salami)

The MR and CDR keep you nice and tanky while letting Vi use her abilities more. Just don't forget your active!

3102.png - Banshee's Veil

The spell shield will block some pesky Blitz or Thresh hooks while keeping you nice and tanky.

3139.png - Mercurial Scimitar

You'll have to trade some health for the MR here, but the lifesteal should be enough to make up for the lack of health. Take this only as a last resort.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3065.png - Spirit Visage

CDR, Health, MR, and increased health regen make this a perfect MR item and a good precursor to the last item...

3083.png - Warmog's Armor

Ah, the Achilles Heel! This item will make your health regen go from 0 to 86.png in no time flat! You can compromise and do a damage item like 3071.pngBlack Cleaver or 3074.pngRavenous Hydra if you prefer a more 23.pngbarbaric approach, but to each their own.

VS

Aatrox

Easy

His aatroxW.pnglifesteal is pretty ridiculous, but his abilities cost health. If he's super aggressive, take advantage of this and run him down. Just avoid his aatroxE.pngCC and you should be fine. (AD)

VS

Evelynn

Medium
evelynnQ.pngSpikes, evelynnR.pngspikes, evelynnQ.pngspikes. Her W removes all slows, not knockups or stuns. Keep this in mind. If she uses spikes, however, treat her like you would 27.pngSinged (don't chase) and you should be fine. (AD/AP)

VS

Hecarim

Easy

He might be able to hecarimramp.pngrun fast, but that's all he has on you. Your ult can allow you to easily burst him down if you lock on to him before he runs away. (AP)

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

You easily counter Jarvan's jarvanivcataclysm.pngult with your viQ.pngQ. Make sure you don't use it to engage and you should be able to get out easily. Jarvan can easily pull to you through jarvanivdemacianstandard.pngDemacian Standard, but you can easily get out and juke him. Besides, his jarvanivgoldenaegis.pngW will slow you down, but what good is that going to do when 3117.pngMobility Boots kick in, eh? What then? (AD)

VS

Jax

Hard

Jax's jaxcounterstrike.pngE will very easily deny you your viW.pngW. Not to mention, you can't really get out of a jaxcounterstrike.pngstun unless you burn 4.pngflash. Even then, he'll just leap to you and delete you. Avoid like the plague. (AD)

VS

Kindred

Medium

Watch your map and deny Kindred stacks and you'll be fine. Else, you're screwed. (AD)

VS

Lee Sin

Hard

Dear God where to begin... He's not only ridiculously tanky, but he has ridiculous damage output and some hard CC. If you see him, you're dead. That's all I can say. (AP)

VS

Master Yi

Easy

Your ult disrupts his meditate.png and his alphastrike.png. Also, he's squishy as all hell. (AD)

VS

Shaco

Easy

I really shouldn't have to explain myself here. He's extremely squishy and can easily be hunted and killed, especially if your viR.pngultimate locks on to him before he cloaks himself. Easy kills. Just don't viR.pngult the wrong clone... (AP)

VS

Teemo

Hard

Complete cancer. The toxicshot.pngpoison will chew through your health like a paper shredder while his blindingdart.pngblind will deny you her viW.pngW. Avoid at all costs and get Sweeping Lens for bantamtrap.pngshrooms. (AP)

VS

Warwick

Medium

Sure Warwick has lifesteal in his hungeringstrike.pngQ and his infiniteduress.pngR, but he's as squishy as 23.pngTryndamere. However, this lifesteal can get ridiculous, so exercise caution when engaging. (AP)

VS

Xin Zhao

Hard

You can viQ.png away, but Xin will just xenzhaosweep.png you halfway. Not to mention, he's tanky and his xenzhaobattlecry.pnglifesteal is too strong. Stay away from him at all costs unless you are SURE you can kill him. (AD)

VS

Zac

Easy

Sure he zacR.pngskips around like a skipping stone and his zacE.pngganks are ridiculous, but you can pull him out of his slingshot with your viR.pngult and effectively cancel it. Not to mention the burst on Vi's viE.pngE makes it hard for Zac to use his passive. (AP)

General Tips Back to Top

  1.  I would prefer to start blue, but starting red works too.
  2. ALWAYS SMITE WOLVES! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF 22.png23.pngTHE BEST COUPLE OF SEASON 6, SMITE YOUR WOLVES! The vision you'll gain out of it is invaluable.
  3. You CAN solo drag at Level 7. However, try it only if you're confident enough or have an easy jungle matchup, like 35.pngShaco or 120.pngHecarim.
  4. PRIORITIZE 203.pngKINDRED STACKS AT ALL COSTS!
  5. Please, do not be afraid to farm your jungle until Level 13. That's when lane phase usually ends and you start getting tanky. I have made the mistake of venturing into team fights before I became tanky and I have regretted it... a lot.

Below is a little diagram I made that traces my preferred jungle path to start. Whether or not you use it, that's not my business, nor is it my concern.

How to jungle.png

Credentials Back to Top

Just in case you wanted a bit of my League Resume to encourage you to take my advice:

- I am Mastery 5 Vi with one more S to go until Mastery 6.

- Over 50 games played as Vi with this exact build. I can testify that this build works very well.

- I may be Bronze II, but I am competent enough to jungle decently and not feed like every other Bronze under the sun.

- If my ranked stats look like crap, it's because I don't play ranked. I can't deal with the cancerous ranked community. I played my 10 placement games, I'm good. It's because of ranked that 89.pngLeona, 69.pngCassiopeia, and 35.pngShaco now trigger me.
