Summoner Spells Back to Top



4.png Flash is a must for every midlaner, it's without any doubt the best summoner spell in League of Legends. It allows you to escape countless situations and also make incredible plays. Please take it.


7.png vs 3.png vs 12.png vs 1.png vs 14.png vs 21.png

7.png Heal is a very solid summoner spell, it gives you both health and movement speed. Perfect to dodge some ganks, and also very useful in team fights. Most of the times, you should be using this summoner.

3.png Exhaust is just one of the best dueling summoner spells. Should be used especially against assassin-type champions, 3.png truly excels, giving you some sort of an advantage when they engage on you. I recommend taking this summoner if you face a champion like Zed or Fizz.

12.pngTeleport is something that we've seen being used very frequently by the pro players at Worlds. This summoner will make up for your lack of mobility, giving you the chance to farm up and then teleport to where the fight is happening. Great summoner indeed, but I don't recommend taking it against assassin-type champions.

1.png Cleanse should be used when you play against champions that rely a lot on their cc. e.g (45.png). 

14.png Ignite isn't so popular anymore at higher ranks, due to the utility that other spells have gained in the current meta. I recommend taking this spell only if you know that you'll pressure your opponent and your jungler will be around for some kills. Ignite truly guarantees you some kills. If you're smurfing, you should consider taking it for mid lane domination.

21.png Barrier is especially good against champions that can burst you down without you being close to use exhaust on them. Lux and Syndra are a great example of champions you should use Barrier against.

Those are the runes I'm using, I found them to be pretty good so far. Since they were recently implemented, it still needs more testing, and there might be better ways to build it. 


Why Sorcery as the main path?

  • Summon%20Aerie.png?width=64is extremely good due to its insane poke and low cooldown. This rune will give you the chance to annoy your enemies and also send them to base earlier. Everytime Summon%20Aerie.png?width=32 return to you, you can go ahead and poke. Arcane%20Comet.png?width=32 is also a viable option, exactly due to the same reasons I stated above, but I just believe Summon%20Aerie.png?width=32 performs better overall. Phase%20Rush.png?width=32 won't be of any use for you, stay away from it.

  • Manaflow%20Band.png?width=64 performs really well withViktor, considering that you build 3070.png, this rune will allow to gain 25 maximum mana when you hit an enemy with an ability, upon getting 250 maximum mana, Mana Flow restores 1% of your missing mana every 5s. This combo will help you deal more damage and have a bigger shield when you finish 3003.png.  Nullifying%20Orb.png?width=32 can be helpful against burst AP champions, but still, it won't surpass the utility of Manaflow%20Band.png?width=32The%20Ultimate%20Hat.png?width=32 is also a viable option, and depending on your play style, it can be even better than Manaflow%20Band.png?width=32. I encourage you to test this rune.

  • Transcendence.png?width=64 seems really good for ability users in general, especially the ones with quite high cooldowns. It'll give you an extra 10% CDR at level 10. Celerity.png?width=32 will also be a pretty viable choice, as it will give you some boost on your AP and Movement Speed. You should test it and see if this rune matches your play style. Absolute%20Focus.png?width=32won't be the most useful rune for you, when compared to the other two, this one falls behind.

  • Scorch.png?width=64 is perfect to help you poking your enemy down, together with Summon%20Aerie.png?width=32, you'll deal a great amount of damage. Waterwalking.png?width=32 can be useful, but not the best choice, in my opinion. It'll definitely help you roam the river, but I believe it won't be as helpful as Scorch.png?width=32Gathering%20Storm.png?width=32 will always be the best choice if the game reaches a pathetic amount of time like 60 minutes. As those games are just 1% of your total, I still recommend going with Scorch.png?width=32.


    Why Inspiration as the secondary path?

  • Perfect%20Timing.png?width=64 is a really great choice, it can help you survive a critical gank or fight that can change the game completely. It's also very useful if you're playing against champions like Zed. It got even better on patch 8.10, as it'll become available at 8min mark instead of 10min.

  • Futures%20Market.png?width=64 will do a lot for you, especially when you are forced to return to base and you lack the money to buy your core items. Give it a shot, it has a really good potential.785.jpgNeglected Precision runes

  • Hextech%20Flashtraption.png?width=32 will be useless for you, as a mid laner, I truly believe this will not give you what you're looking for to win the game. Even though some plays can be made with it, but it'll work much better for something like Blitzkrank.

  • Biscuit%20Delivery.png?width=32 can be quite useful, if you feel that your lane is full of poke and you need some extra sustain, this rune can be a great option.

  • Magical%20Footwear.png?width=32 will also be very useful for you, it gives you some extra movement speed, which is awesome for Viktor and it also saves you 350g. Definitely, a rune to consider.

  • Minion%20Dematerializer.png?width=32 won't do you any good, don't even consider this an option.

  • Cosmic%20Insight.png?width=32 is a viable choice, giving you some cooldown reduction and increasing the total of CDR that you can have by 5%. Give it a test, a see if it matches the way you play.

  •  Approach%20Velocity.png?width=32 won't do you any good, don't even consider this an option.

  • Celestial%20Body.png?width=32 won't be as good as any other rune we labeled viable, I believe this rune would disrupt your farm and also you may lack the damage to kill early on. As Viktor, you should show some dominance, even if you get pushed and you're having a hard time, allow your jungler to come and as a reward, do some damage!

  • Really unique passive.

  • Viktor starts the game with 3200.png, which gives him +1 AP per level and +10 mana per level.

  • This item can be upgraded in the store and it also gives unique effects to your abilities. The first effect you want to get is for viktordeathray.png and then for viktorpowertransfer.png.


  • Perfect ability to start trades with. It'll tank some damage and help you win those trades.

  • Very low mana cost.

  • When augmented, it gives you 30% extra movement speed for 2.5 seconds when you hit. It works really well to chase your enemies and also to escape from them.


  • Really good crowd control ability.

  • Can block paths, and it is especially good if you are getting an objective and want to stop your enemies from coming.

  • If augmented, it'll work similar to Orianna's ultimate, dragging your enemies to the center of the Gravity Field.


  • This is your main damage ability.

  • Really good wave clear.

  • Insane range, that allows you to poke your enemies without them being able to trade,

  • Might be quite hard to control, I recommend practicing a little first.

  • When augmented, there will be an explosion following the Death Ray's path, dealing a great amount of damage.


  • An ability that allows you to burst down an enemy.

  • It interrupts channelings.

  • When cast, you can control its direction, although it moves slower when it gets further from you.

  • When augmented, the storm will move 20% faster.

Starting Items

    Very solid start.

Core Items

    This should be pretty close to what you buy on your first back. Make sure you get Hexcore-1.
    This is what you should aim for as soon as possible.
    Your first 3 items should not differ much from those.
    This is one of the final builds you can get. Pretty solid one, but will chance according to your needs.

Situational Items

    Very good item, especially if you play against an AD on mid. It also gets cheaper is you already have Stop Watch.
    Pretty solid choice, it works really well together with Rylai's and it's especially good against tanky teams.
    Very good item against AP teams. And especially good against champions like Veigar/Fizz.


Build Path

  • Start with 1056.png+2003.png+3340.png. I believe this will be the best start, considering your long range on viktordeathray.png and our ability to trade with viktorpowertransfer.png, you should be able to farm safely while poking your enemy. In case you're playing out of your true ranking. Remember that you don't have a real escape ability, beware of early ganks.

  • On your first back, you should aim to at least get a 3196.png, a 2031.png and a 2055.png if possible. In case you have enough money, getting 1001.png would be great too. In one of the best case scenarios, you want 3196.png+1001.png+2031.png+2055.pngFutures%20Market.png?width=32 will be a great help on getting those items early on.

  • Upgrade your 3196.png to 3198.png as soon as possible and also you should aim to upgrade your boots to 3158.png. Your core should look like 3158.png3198.png3057.png.

  • You should aim than to upgrade your 3057.png to 3100.png. Those three items, 3158.png3198.png and  3100.png are your core, and the rest of your build will really depend on the enemy team. 3116.png can be a great choice right after 3100.png, despite its nerfs, it's still a very good and viable option used by pro players.

  • As you might start with Perfect%20Timing.png?width=32, getting a 3157.png will always be a good choice, it'll boost your damage, resistance and disrupt their team's focus in case they try something on you. This item will be a great addition, but you have to be very analytical to know when to build it. If the other team doesn't have many AD champions and you feel like your 3157.png won't be worth much, I recommend going for 3151.png. It works pretty well with 3116.png and deals a great amount of damage. It'll be especially good if you're playing against tanky champions.

  • Your last item, or not, since it can be an option before that, should be, in most cases, 3135.png. It really puts your damage on a different level. If you see that your enemies are stacking magic resist early on, I recommend going for it right after 3116.png or just before it. 

  • If you feel that you just need some more AP to burst down your enemies, you can get a 3089.png

  • Stay behind minions early game to not get charmed,
  • Go for 4.png1.png.
  • Make sure to dodge her ahriorbofdeception.png's, they do a lot of damage.
  • Try to keep the lane in the middle to avoid any ganks, remember, you don't have any escape.
  • After 6, be extremely careful, she'll try to organize a play to send you to base faster, if you know what I mean.
  • Keep side bushes warded, 103.png is a very good champion to roam with.
  • If she rushes at you, be sure to use 1.png properly if she hits her ahriseduce.png.



  • This lane will be about who farms better.
  • Keep the lane equal, pushing too much can be your sentence to death.
  • Be extremely careful with your position, her crystallize.png+flashfrost.png combo is really strong.
  • After 6, you might try to organize something with your jungler, you'll be able to burst her down!



  • You can safely farm with your long range.
  • Play with 4.png1.png, as she might go for 14.png and 7.png will be less useful.
  • Be careful when she has her stun ready or about to be, she might be planning to call her jungler.
  • After 6, you need to be really fast with 1.png to run away from her.
  • You know that any 1.png that hits 6 vs you will try to go all-in. A smart way is to call your jungler and tell him to stay nearby. She'll definitely be greedy!


Aurelion Sol

  • Keep wards on side bushes, knowing where he's going to roam is key.
  • Punish him by pushing as much as you can.
  • He's not a good farmer under turret.
  • If he's not roaming, he's planning to catch you with a gank, tell your jungler to stay nearby.



  • Farm as far as you can and don't mind losing some minions.
  • Try to predict his moves and use your viktordeathray.png whenever he tries to poke you.
  • He'll most likely push, you might want to ask for a gank.



  • You can farm safely with your range.
  • Make sure you dodge her cassiopeiaq.png.
  • If she tries to cassiopeiar.png, make sure to turn your back to her.
  • Sometimes she camps in a brush expecting someone to face check, don't let it be you.
  • Just keep farming and out scale her. 



  • You can safely farm and poke him with viktorpowertransfer.png+viktordeathray.png combo.
  • Make sure you dodge his phosphorusbomb.png.
  • If he starts getting to close, he might be planning to use carpetbomb.png to assist his jungler, be careful.



  • You beat him pre 6, try to farm and poke him hard early.
  • Go for 4.png3.png or 4.png21.png.
  • Taking Nullifying%20Orb.png?width=32 can also be a good choice.
  • If he wastes fizze.png to close the gap to you, instantly use 3.png and punish him. 
  • After 6, like 1.png, he'll try a funny play, you might want to call your jungler to stay close by and punish 105.png for his insolence.



  • Try to poke him early on and make his life hell.

  • Arrange with your jungler to gank him early, he'll be an easy prey.

  • After 6, if he jumps on you, immediately use viktorgravitonfield.png and trap him, use your combo afterward.



  • Her mobility will be very hard to deal with. She can close the gap between you two easily and also dodge your skills. 
  • Save your ultimate to interrupt hers, this will be key.
  • You can try some casual trades early on, you might win if you use viktorpowertransfer.png+viktordeathray.png effectively.



  • Try to use your viktorpowertransfer.png+viktordeathray.png combo effectively when trading with her. 
  • She can close the gap between you two and take you down, be very careful if you have her mark on you..
  • Try to dodge her leblance.png by staying behind your minions.
  • Going for an early 3102.png might be a good idea.



  • Should be fairly easy for you to farm.
  • Make sure to keep your distance, she can come really close with lissandrae.png.
  • Aim karthuswallofpain.png to where her lissandrae.png is.
  • Keep in mind that you'll get camped. Don't push and farm with an even lane or pushed to your side.



  • Farm and poke him early.
  • He can get out of your viktorgravitonfield.png easily with his luciane.png.
  • He's also able to close the gap with you with luciane.png and go all-in.
  • Pay attention to his lucianq.png, stay in paths where he can't land it through the minions.



  • You should be able to farm easily.
  • Dodging her skill shots is the key to win this matchup.
  • She has no escape, just like you. Calling your jungler when she pushes the lane can be a great way to punish her.
  • Don't be afraid to go all-in on her if she misses luxlightstrikekugel.png+luxlightbinding.png.



  • It'll be very hard for you to out push him.
  • Make sure to hit him at least once to take his passive out and make things easier to your jungler.
  • Scare him from time to time with viktorgravitonfield.png, in order for you to farm better and to not lose so many minions at your turret.
  • After 6, he might try something, keep your distance, if he uses 4.png+malzaharr.png, make sure to time your 1.png or 3.png properly.



  • You should be able to safely farm.
  • Use your viktorpowertransfer.png+viktordeathray.png combo to poker her.
  • Beware of her poke too, she also has a huge range.
  • This will be a farm lane most likely.



  • Pre 6 is when you need to show him dominance and poke him hard.
  • Picking 3.png will be key against him.
  • He's also very dangerous early on, so don't get cocky. Letting him push and freeze the lane is a great way to win this matchup.
  • Keep distance from his talonw.png.
  • When he hits 6, he'll try to go on you, make sure to 3.png him properly. Calling your jungler can be also a great idea. 
  • Keep a good map awareness, he's a champion that likes to roam a lot.
  • Going for 3047.png+3157.png is also a good choice against him.


Twisted Fate

  • You should be able to farm safely.
  • Make sure to keep your side brushes warded, to spot him whenever he wants to use his destiny.png.
  • Make a plan with your jungler to punish him, he has no escape.
  • At 6, you should be able to win against him.



  • He's an anti-mage due to his abusive veigarr.png.
  • Farm and keep your distance to avoid his veigareventhorizon.png.
  • After 6, the best advice once again is to keep your distance. 1.png will be key if he tries something, it might keep you alive for the next round.



  • This might be a farm lane, he has no gap closer.
  • Be sure to dodge his velkozq.png, if he hits you, he might be able to hit the rest of his combo, meaning you might be pretty dead.
  • Calling your jungler might be a smart way to deny 161.png, since he has no escape and can be easily killed.
  • Be careful with his velkozr.png, the damage is out of this world. Your viktorchaosstorm.png interrupts his velkozr.png.
  • At 6, don't be afraid, you might be able to burst him down before he reacts.



  • You should be able to play safe and farm.
  • Poke him occasionally.
  • You can try pushing the lane if you have everything warded.
  • Going for 3165.png can be a good way to deny his healing abilities.
  • Keep in mind that he can dodge your abilities with vladimirsanguinepool.png.



  • He outranges you.
  • Try farming and dodging his abilities.
  • If he's going too aggressive, you'll need your jungler to punish him.



  • Very hard to play against due to his insane mobility.
  • Try keeping your distance, he can gap close if you have your minions close to you.
  • Farming under turret can be a good way for you to survive and to allow your jungler to act and punish the disrespectful 157.png.
  • Dodging his tornado after 6 is a must. if you can't, I believe 3.png can save you sometimes.



  • Farm safely and keep your distance early on.
  • You can try to poke him occasionally with viktorpowertransfer.png+viktordeathray.png if he mispositions.
  • If he tries to gap-close to you with zedw.png, just use viktorgravitonfield.png.
  • When he hits 6 he'll try something on you, but I believe that he can't kill you if you 3.png him fast enough.
  • Try going for a 3157.png early on.



  • Farm and poke her early, always keeping your distance.
  • She has no escape, if she starts pushing, invite your jungler to come and punish her.
  • Play behind your minions to avoid her zoee.png.
  • If she comes forward with zoer.png, place your viktorgravitonfield.png on her initial position.
  • Don't be afraid of her, at 6 you can burst her down. As long as you don't get hit by zoee.png, you'll be fine.
  • Take 1.png, it'll definitely help you win against her.

Early Game

  • Your main goal is to farm safely and be able to buy 3196.png on your first back.

  • Try to not push your lane too much to avoid any ganks, 112.png is an immobile champion, and that makes him very susceptible to early ganks.

  • Occasionally use your viktorpowertransfer.png+viktordeathray.png combo to poke your enemy if he mispositions.

  • Make sure you keep your side brushes warded, you don't want to die too early.

  • You can push your enemy to his turret if you arrange with your jungler for a counter gank, otherwise that would be unwise unless you know where the enemy jungler is.

  • I'll reinforce the idea, farming is key for you, make sure you farm and get 3196.png on your first back. 


    Mid Game

  • When you destroy your enemies turret or get yours destroyed, laning phase will be over. You should ask yourself some questions. Is Dragon available? What about Herald? If you lose your turret, make sure to ward around that area to keep the vision.

  • Let's say you got your enemies turret and you're ahead, if Dragon is available, try to set up a play with your jungler and bot lane in order to secure the objective. If you succeed, start getting some deep wards in their jungle to know every move they make. Push mid lane and farm your jungle, if you see their mid laner roaming, either push to your maximum or follow him, not forgetting to ping. Push or follow, it'll be up to you to evaluate the situation.

  • At this point in the game, you should be really farmed and teaming up can be a great choice. 


    Late Game

  • This is where you'll shine the most, 112.png carries really hard late game, he's able to burst someone down very quickly.

  • Most important here is, keep up with the vision and don't overextend farming.

  • Grouping is very important and keeping an eye on objectives.

  • You need to keep in position, as your main goal will be to shred the front line or to catch the squishy carries off-guard. Arranging a fight around objectives can be really beneficial for you since you can place your viktorgravitonfield.png more strategically. 

  • In conclusion, late game will be your best stage of the game, 112.png is extremely strong, you'll be at your best. As long as you don't overextend you should be fine. Stick with your team in order to take objectives and be prepared for team fights.

Pro Mindset

The most successful players all have one thing in common, either they win or lose, they always think "what could have I done better?". This is the key for you to become closer to the greatest players, it's not about how many games you play in a day, it's about what you learn from each of them. 



The easiest thing to do when you are losing a game is to blame your team, even if you're right, that won't give any help on winning the game. If you really want to get to the next level, try to keep cool and boost our teammate's morale. 


Winning Attitude

Everyone is fed in the other team, your team is far behind and the easiest thing to do here is surrender. You might argue that it'll save you a lot of time and playing would be a waste. Yes, you're right, but some of those games you'll actually win, and you'll learn much more from hard games than from easy games that finish at 15min. Just keep focus and don't stop believing. Everyone throws, even the pros.


Think about this:

If you're one of those players stuck in Silver, you feel like you deserve much more, but you are just unlucky and can't climb, it feels like a curse that Riot put on you. I will tell you straight away there's no such thing, and yes, sometimes we can be very unlucky, but it doesn't last. If you're stuck there, you might've been doing something wrong, the proof is that people boost accounts and they know exactly what to do in order to carry a game and climb quickly. If you find yourself in that situation, I suggest watching some of your own replays, maybe your mechanics are good but it only takes a few mistakes for you to not be able to carry your team. Start thinking, what could have you done better? The other team is silver too, if you're much better you should be able to outplay them in every way possible.

What is being "In The Zone"?

  • It's a state of mind where you become extremely focused and hyper-productive!

  • Being in the zone is being completely immersed in what you're doing. Losing the sense of time is very common while in this state of mind.

  • You'll be able to predict your opponents movements and see them almost like in slow motion!


    How to enter "The Zone".

  • Think about what you're doing and your role.

  • Get rid of distractions. (Close the door if open. Being in a conversation will most likely stop you from entering this state as you'll get distracted easily).

  • You need a deep understanding of what you're doing. (Once again, know your role and your opponent as well).
  • Create a balance between challenge and skill. Big challenges require huge skill. Taking a step bigger than your leg will only get you demotivated. (Yes, this one is for boosted accounts.)

  • Be patient, it might take some time to achieve and master this state of mind.

  • Now that you know about it, you just made it easier.
