Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.pngAlways take flash. It's basically the best summoner spell for Wukong, as it allows you to play aggressively. It also makes the standardmonkeykingnimbus.pngAAmonkeykingdoubleattack.pngmonkeykingspintowin.png much easier to land whilst teamfighting. It does also provide you a great escape - A thing Wukong lacks if you don't use your decoy properly.

14.png Recommended if you want to snowball early on. However, keep in mind that if you don't exploit your early pressure, you won't be as useful as the enemy top laner (in case he's running tp), as he'll be able to help his teammates a lot more than you'll be able to. Not recommended against hard matchups.

12.png In my opinion, it's the best summoner spell around the top lane, as it does not only allow you to pressure the map, but it does also help when it comes to snowballing, as you'll probably be facing tankier top laners, such as 98.png and 57.png, and you won't be able to kill them easily.

3.png Take this into damage-focused matchups, such as a really good 92.png

Masteries Back to Top

Thunderlord's Decree fits Wukong's playstyle perfectly. It's easy to proc and it adds the exact amount of damage you need to OS their squishies. This does also add a huge burst if you rush lv2.

I personally don't like Fervor. It surely is a lot better around the early game on extended fights, but I just don't like it that much on Wukong. Plus, your main source of damage on the lategame will rely on your combo+ultimate, and you won't benefit that much out of it.

As for Stormraider's, if you are facing a really easy matchup where you are sure that you'll be able to snowball even without the extra damage thunderlord's adds and their team is relatively squishy but with lots of damage, going for it wouldn't be a bad choice, as it'd allow you to get one of the target priorities, dish out some damage with your ultimate, and leave quickly with Stormraider's+R's bonus MS + Black Cleaver's passive.

Taking 2 points into Fury is optional. I just feel more confident like this. I happen to cancel my AA's without it. Feel free to take 5 points into Sorcery.

monkeykingnimbus.png gives you a huge AS steroid after you use it. It doesn't deal a lot of damage if not maxed. However, the amount of damage dealt after all is much higher than a maxed Q, even if Q reduces an enemy's armor.
monkeykingdoubleattack.png Auto attack reset. It  does also add some range to your next AA and reduces an enemy's armor.
monkeykingdecoy.png is Wukong's only escaping spell. It leaves a decoy behind him which slightly pushes you to the direction you're looking at and makes Wukong invisible. In my opinion, this skill is based more on mental games than actually using it. Sometimes, directly stopping with the S key will force the enemies to ignore you for a sec, granting you some extra seconds to get your E back up or your flash. Sometimes, adding a one or two point boost on it isn't a bad idea, especially if you are facing a hard matchup and you're getting cheesed constantly.
monkeykingspintowin.png is a spell you should always level up first, as it has a huge damage boost when leveled. It's your only source of CC, and one of your main damage source. It works great with 3071.png, as you'll be able to shred lots of armor in a few seconds of spinning.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Wukong is really mana hungry. This item solves this. It does also grant some sustain and some damage. I always get this.

Core Items

Core items for the assassin build. Hydra+Youmuus allow you to 100-0 a squishy target. BC is great against tankier enemies, plus it synergizes great with your ultimate
Bruiser build core items. At least that's what I usually build. Deadman's is a great item, as it allows you to stick next to your opponent after an E-AA-Q combo. Combined with BC's bonus MS, your enemies will have a hard time escaping from you. Hydra grants lots of damage, and it's a necessary item if you want a more efficient split pushing.

Situational Items

Death's Dance gives a lot of sustain whilst spinning, as you won't be able to use your Life Steal while doing so. Malmortius is a great item against teams with lots of magical damage.
It increases your base AD and grants you some HP, as well as a huge shield. The best part of it is that it'll allow you to stay alive for a while if you lack either damage or tankyness.
Get this if you wanna be annoying as fuck. Killing the monkey twice is hard( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
If you're suffering due to hard CC, take this.
It's a great finisher item with nice stats. However, it's really expensive and the passive has a huge cooldown.
Get the trinket based on your team's needs. You should always start with the warding trinket though

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

His kit does counter you pretty hard. However, if you avoid his Q or decoy as soon as he channels his W, you should be doing fine. Be careful with his lv6 spike though.

VS

Darius

Medium

Avoid fighting him early on, as his passive will hurt you pretty badly. Try to harass him with monkeykingnimbus.png AA monkeykingdoubleattack.png monkeykingdecoy.png and avoid getting grabbed. His level 6 powerspike is scary as well. Try to bait his ultimate to your decoy.

VS

Gnar

Easy

Really easy to kill when he's not Mega Gnar. Try to cancel his jump with your R and... Kill him ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

VS

Irelia

Hard

You should be able to get some kills of her early on, but she'll outdamage you post6. Avoid fighting with her, unless you're really ahead.

VS

Maokai

Hard

Cry to your jungler. This champion is obnoxious. You won't be able to kill him until min.20 or so. Try to farm up and fight only when your jungler is here.

VS

Olaf

Hard

He's got in-built sustain, so he'll probably always be healed up. His damage is really high. Try to farm up and freeze the lane. Dodge his olafaxethrowcast.png.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

Riot pls remove this champion :c

VS

Poppy

Medium

Her W hurts you really bad. Try to use your W properly and avoid her stun. Her cooldowns are fairly high on her W-E. Force those spells and try fighting. Kil lher before she gets tanky.

VS

Riven

Easy

I always happened to find this matchup really easy. However, i've never faced a really good Riven.

VS

Shen

Hard

His kit counters you pretty hard.
His dodge screws up your damage. His taunt forces you to attack while being invisible, and his map pressure will be much better than yours. Try to farm up and help your team.

VS

Trundle

Hard

Avoid long trades against him. His sustain is too stronk, plus he steals a lot of your AD.

Combos Back to Top

monkeykingdoubleattack.png+monkeykingnimbus.png. Use your E in the middle of your Q. The animation won't finish but it'll deal both hits at once. It's good as a finisher combo.

monkeykingnimbus.png+ AA + monkeykingdoubleattack.png + 3074.png + AA . This is your standard damage dealing combo. Follow it up by an ultimate if you need an extra bit of damage or if you're surrounded by enemy champions. It's also your only means of poke. Using your monkeykingdecoy.png after the combo will provide you some time to make some distance between you and your enemy. He might even dump important spells on your decoy if timed properly.
