Summonerspells

- You should use Flash/Barrier if you are uncertain of your matchup, or if you assume the enemy jungler will gank you a lot, since this is the basic defensive setup into pretty much any matchup.

- You should use Flash/Exhaust if are against highburst champions like Zed/Talon/Syndra, since Exhaust will reduce the initial dmg, and give you time to give some dmg back, or flash away if needed.

- You should use Flash/Cleanse if you are against hard-cc champions like Lissandra or Lux, or if they have a teamcomp that has a lot of lockdown, like Amumu, Maokai, etc., since Cleanse will give you the chance to escape it.

- You can choose Flash/Ghost if you are feeling good in your matchup, since Ghost can help you rotate quickly, get into position faster, or catch someone who tries to escape.

Masteries Back to Top

Masteries

My prefered setup of masteries, are these (18/12/0). Many will choose Thunderlord's Decree (12/18/0) instead, and you can if you like. I have just experienced a lot, that the burn from Deathfire Touch, has finished off a lot of champions lategame, through the consistent poke I've produced.
Should you choose to go with Thunderlord's, you have to rely on hitting 3 abilities to proc it, which sometimes can be a challenge, since you have to poke at a distance lategame.

Abilities

This is my prefered setup of abilities, in their respective order. I like to pick Q first, followed E on lvl 2, since most enemies doesn't expect the early E, you will sometimes be able to give them a lot of early damage, just by doing this, and catching them out of position.

Max Q first,
then W
then E
of course pick R on lvl 6, 11 and 16.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Starting Items
Buy on first back (around 1400-1500 gold). Upgrade boots fast if you can.

Core Items

This is the final build you should use.

Situational Items

Replace Mejai's with one of the following, if you happen to die a lot, and can't stack up properly.

Items

Your items are pretty fixed, if you plan on playing Xerath like I do, and you need to learn how to position yourself properly throughout the game, so you can freely stack up that Dark Seal/Mejai's Soulstealer, without dying a whole lot.

Should you evidently die a lot, you should swap out Mejai's for something more defensive like Zhonya's Hourglass, or even a Banshee's Veil/Abyssal Scepter against high burst champions like LeBlanc who will most certainly oneshot you, if she gets ahead, or you reach lategame, and she catches you out of position.
