Summoner Spells Back to Top

  • 4.png / 3.png
Use this only versus Matchups with hard all-in such as Zed/Riven. Will give you such an easier Time also duelling the enemy Marksman will be that easy with just 1 click. No filthy Vaynes outplaying you for some reason and you end up getting killed. Take this versus losing Matchups.

Standard usage for Toplane Yasuo which i will cover later on.

Masteries Back to Top

Take Double Edged Sword against Melee Matchups and not much threat by ranged damage.

Feast if there is much ranged damage or in tank/sustain matchups in the toplane.

Runic Armor is 100% needed since it boosts your shields quite a bit.

Fervor of Battle because we will be using the PD/Trinity build and fervor fits into that perfectly.

Double Edged Sword and Feast are the only masteries i ever change.

Wheter you start with Q really does depend on your Matchup.
Most of the time its
Melee Matchup = start Q
Ranged Matchup = start E

However there are casualities such as the matchup against Orianna

She starts E = You start Q and push since you wont be winning trades lvl 1 ( Dont let her freeze tho)

She starts Q = You start E and punish her mistakes all the time, your shield is up go in and use it.

I max E   first to secure a better and more fluent gameplay since you get a way lower cd on it and the same damage you would get as if you upped your Q.

Max Q second since maxing Windwall would be a waste.

Skill your Windwall even if you cant block anything from your opponent you can still use it to freeze your lane by tanking melee creeps and windwall the ranged creeps. If you do it right you can almost freeze it permanently.
Sadly Yasuo pushes really hard automatically if you want to trade which is one of his most abusable downsides.
It is recommended to pair up with a Jungler who can predict the enemy Jungler well and take advantage of it with you!

Starting Items

This is the only starter you will use, if not I dare you i will find you and I will report you.

Core Items

One of these items will be your first buy. Against AP I mostly combine Zeal and Hexdrinker and complete Hexdrinker into a Maw after PD->Trinity. I also buy 3 Daggers at once very often and combine it with a longsword for max DPS.
This is 100% the first Item you complete in every case.
And this is PDs brother. May i present you the infestation of Tons of Damage. 2nd completed Item guaranteed.
After PD/Tri you have the choice to go tanky or bursty or a mix of both. These Items are all Situational. Its up to you how you build after PD/Trinity.
BOOTS OF CHOICE. YASUO HATES CC so tenacity is the way to go in almost all cases. Although the Tabi buff will be interesting watch out for them
FAVORITE EXAMPLE BUILD PD-> TRINITY-> MAW-> Mallet-> BT (MIX BOOTS INBETWEEN THE 2 CORES PD/TRIN)

Situational Items

Against FULL AD Combs and nasty Bruisers
FULL SNOWBALL ACTION OVERDRIVE SWAGSHOES, seriously dont buy this in ranked.
Having problems getting bursted by obnoxious assasins? Well i got something for you.
    DEEZ DIRTY TANKS GETTIN REKT

Will keep an Eye on the changes of Trinity in the future and will update the Buildpath immediately.

VS

Ekko

Medium

Try to predict him throwing his Q and dodge it. Windwalling his Q will be Key to win trades since it is 100% always maxxed first and one of his main Damage tools. Becareful once he gets tanky since he will probably outsustain and outtrade you with his Elixir. Also be aware of his W and try to predict it aswell. Key to predicting is when would i throw my Q/W? Try to kill him in your ult at the last second to prevent him from ulting.

VS

Fizz

Medium

Fizz is pretty common right now in the Toplane. Things to note:
-You can dodge  his Q damage by Eing out of his Q Range
-You can windwall his Ult
-You can harass him hard lvl1-2 (This is the window of you winning the lane or losing it)
-Most take Ignite/TP so watch out for that Ignite

VS

Irelia

Hard

Avoid this lane she will crush you no matter how good you are or how good she is ..
CAUTION BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN BROKEN

E max will fuck your anus so hard in and out of lane this is seriously not funny. I recommend banning her at all times since there wont be a worse matchup for Yasuo ever.

VS

Pantheon

Hard
there are champs you cant really win against 1v1
this is one of them
cloth+4 hope for jungler or him to outplay himself no way to win trades against him if you are equal in gold.

VS

Renekton

Hard
KING OF MELEE TRADES
such a hard matchup
your windwall is useless in this matchup and he can just sustain your Q damage
ask if you could swap with your mid or dont even try to lane against him as a new-mid experience yasuo

I myself find it easy to kill im early on tho just harass him with Q and avoid his Q damage in the early phases and give him a slap to the crocoass if he trys to cs like in all melee matchups

VS

Riven

Hard

Probably the hardest or also the easiest matchup.

If mid take3.png to avoid her all in.
What makes this matchup so hard is mostly her ability to deny your Q everytime you cast it dus making trading almost impossible after lvl 2. Tho if you manage to get an advantage you will most likely snowball considering you are 1v1 all the time. If you get an advantage Rivens tend to extremly go on tilt and go super aggressiv despite being behind because you probably hurt her temper (Talking about Riven mains.)
Her Ult is made easier to windwall with the speed reduce nerf of it and yea.
If you want to get a ult on her with all her CD's up you need to do your EQ combo really fast and the knockup will most of the time apply even if she e's away because it wont outrange your Q. If she jukes you tho and you miss your combo you are dead.
Most of the time people are way too scared of her to trade which makes it almost a freewin for her everytime. She comes up to cs give her Q+AA. She shields? wait it out.

In this matchup you have to get something out of your lvl 1-2. If you dont you have to play passive once she reaches her lvl 6 unless she screws all her CD's up really hard. WATCHING COOLDOWNS IS KEY, ALWAYS SWITCH DISTANCES IN TRADES (E in Combo E out)

VS

Rumble

Medium

ive seen so many ppl pick rumble into yasuo and i laughed everytime
i recommend to buy an early merc treads/hexdrinker if you get it theres no way he can 1v1 you.

UPDATE Rumble is pretty rare atm.

VS

Trundle

Hard

This is also a hard matchup since theres such a little window to beat him. He will have hard sustain to survive your Damage and outtrade you and steal your stats with your Ult. Although he is easy to harass early game, just ask for your Jungler to try to make something. You can eve take Ignite in this matchup to snowball!

VS

Tryndamere

Medium
PRAISE RNGSUS
no. for real now
if you dont fall behind early on your will stand him a very good chance. If he ults just kite him until its down. You have insane fast movements with Trinity force so it should be pretty easy to catch him. Dont all in if he has a full rage bar tho. Always do short trades (E on minion EQ on him E on minion to back out)

VS

Wukong

Medium

you have better extended trades pre 6 if he uses his full combo give him a windy slap

Who am I? Back to Top

My Name is Itembuild and im playing since Season 1 and maining Yasuo since his release. I have probably over 2k Games with Yasuo and he is by far the champion with the most skill ceiling in the game. Even i learn new things every Game.

If you have any questions or concerns about matchups feel free to leave a comment or add me in game!
Im sadly not able to upload much gameplay footage since i got a very bad connection but still here is a little play by mine.

Bonus Tips and Tricks Back to Top

AA BEFORE ULTING
This is really important especially in lategame since one auto might decide wheter their adc dies or not.
Learn the time you have after knocking someone up, this is all about experience. Widely known.

ALWAYS CANCEL YOUR ANIMATIONS WITH YOUR SPELLS
This is probably the most important tip i can give you. If you cant cancel his animations you are not playing Yasuo the right way. LEARN THIS AT ALL COST even if you do in custom games.

TIP ON WINDWALL
Not all Projectiles get deflected by your Windwall if you just put it down and it gets thrown.
with some skills you have to vanish the projectiles while they are flying with ur windwall such as
TF W
KATARINA Q
MALPHITE Q etc.
I cant remember all of them but these are probably the most common.

If you Flash EQ with Knockup ready you will be able to Ult even if your opponent has a getaway tool (Flash etc).
Only Faker can dodge this if you do it right or if your opponent expects it.

KNOWN BUGS
Not being able to AA after ulting for like 2 seconds
Q not doing any damage if you get cced during the cast
some projectiles wont dissappear getting in contact with ur windwall if you just put it down
sometimes the Q of your EQ combo does no damage especially if knockup is charged

TOPLANE YASUO
I prefer Toplane Yasuo over Midlane for several reasons
- More room to play
- More melee Matchups
- Less Poke Matchups
- More safety with TP
Start 1055_32.png and take12.png. Do wolves go back buy pots and tp to your turret at 500 hp. Proceed Yasuo-ing your enemys.

Early-Game Back to Top

This is the hardest part of the game for yasuo. If you cant keep up a good cs or fall behind you will be pretty useless mid-game and you will take much longer to reach your lategame-wet dream.

If you want to succeed you need to learn every Matchup by yourself so you know for sure what you have to do and you will get a feeling for it.

Try to manage to abuse your lvl 2 powerspike by either doing a camp on Toplane or pushing a little bit.
Go in when ur enemy is still lvl 1 and always use AA's between your Skills for maximizing your Damage output.

Be careful with the pushing tho if you overdo it your lane will get frozen at the enemy tower for awhile and you will be in a very terrible position considering all that your enemy Jungler wants is to shut that annoying Yasuo down.

NEVER i repeat NEVER ever go back without buying a ward. Yasuo is a pretty easy probably one of the easiest ganks if your flash is down. ALWAYS pay attention to the map and to the enemy Jungler. Remember if you fall behind you will probably not coming back ever since you have to put yourself into threat range in teamfights and you will just repeadetly die all the time.

Continue your aggression at all times if you have Vision but becareful if you dont. Also pay attention to where your Jungler is so you might sneak in a bait and get a double off it!

If you manage to get an advantage lvl 1-2 and keep it you can pressure really hard.

Mid-Game Back to Top

In this part of the Game you should already have your Trinity Force/Statik and you are about to build the other one.

Dragons will play a big part into midgame aswell as Teamfights.
If you have a trigger for your ult such as Malphite dont force yourself to ult after he does a bad ult maybe on their support or anything unless he is the only one who can trigger your Ult.
You need to get your Ult down all the time in Teamfights and hopefully on their ADC or Midlaner which are most of the time the main damage recources. Delay your Ult as much as possible if someone is knocked up to get a longer cc down. Try to manage your 3rd Q by stacking it up before Teamfights on minions etc.

Other than teamfighting you can obviously Splitpush very efficiently with the Sheenproc of Triforce and you will just soak up that Farm and Exp and apply pressure nonstop. You do Splitpush for example if you dont have a ult trigger and very bad teamfighting.

If you get used to the projectile speed of your tornado, range and AoE you will do just fine i promise even without Knockups.

Late-Game Back to Top

Now you have finally reached your goal and its lategame time.
Although it can still be pretty hard since Tanks are now pretty Tanky ADCs deal massive Damage. If you get caught up in CC you will most likely die and you will be punished hard for chasing or for walking into places without vision with huge death timers.

I myself play it like this in Teamfights, if you go in make sure their biggest CC Skills have already been used and you are safe to go in. If you manage to get ur Ult off an Adc you will most likely not be able to kill them instantly since theres Mikaels Quicksilver etc and their Teammates will obviously stop your ult and try to kill you as fast as possible.

I just distract them from doing what they are doing, getting an ult off a Carry? Fine dash around and try to avoid damage by going back. After that you go in again and repeat unless you know for sure you can kill their carrys easily and they have no mobility/flash left. Try to go in when the enemy does not expect it with a fast EQ Knockup Ult combo and hope for the best.

Place your windwall between your tanks and their backline to force them to fall back and eventually clump up in the jungle to get a good ult off.

Most of the time its better to peel for your Marksman than going in.
