You CAN max your Q instead of W, but only do this if you need a longer slow & more poke & if your team has more than enough damage or if you have to build some AP first with a runic due to an AD heavy comp. Your W will give you faster clear & potentially make you dish out more damage in fights since its on a much lower CD.

Starting Items

    Get 3 health pots instead in order to stay full health throughout early clear from level 1 to 3 against possible junglers who may invade!
    Can get this 1st or 2nd back. I get this 2nd back if im afraid of getting counter-ganked. So try to sweep when you're ganking w/o auto-attacking the ward so they've no clue that you're coming.

Core Items

    Get Cinderhulk after an item or two ideally. Get Runic if you have a significant lead or your team needs AP damage! Spirit visage for better healing
    DEFINITELY GET THIS IF THE ENEMY HAS A LOT OF AP AND YOU HAVE AP THAT WOULD BENEFIT FROM THIS AS WELL
    Typical example full game build
    Absolute core if your support would rather get banner and enemy has AP.
    ABSOLUTELY A MUST VERSUS MULTIPLE AUTO-ATTACKERS! or if their ADC is very fed.
    Core versus crit-comps with Gangplank, Yasuo , Jhin, etc.
    Viable as your last item. Helps a lot versus tanky comps especially.
    Typical Example Full Game Build - If more AP needed [and enemy team tanky]
    This item can actually COUNTER-counters! With this, Jannas, Veigars, and Threshs can no longer stop your jump mid-flight >:)
    Excellent if they have a lot of squishies and your team needs AP

Situational Items

    For boots I typically go Merc Treads for the tenacity so its easier to pick up blobs. But if they have three AD threats then tabi will often be the better choice.
    Can get if you have a lead!
    Get red if you're against a full AP/AD comp as it'll make you even harder to kill! Blue smite if you need that extra CC slow. I've noticed that its actually pretty good for situations where you mess up a jump and need to get away quick
Randuins, Deadmans, and Sunfire are all 2900 gold now. Rands gives the most armor with an extra 10; 60. Also reduces crit damage AND 4 second AOE slow? Seems more worth overall actually. The other two are for outputting more damage so if you go Cinder then your choice is Deadmans, Randuins, or Thorn. Randuins > Deadamans imo. Get it unless thornmail will be better vs AA'ers.

When she jumps onto your team you jump on her and can keep her off them easily. If you get liandrys you will melt her.

           Seriously. You can now freaking gank and q a minion and then auto them (flash-auto is also possible if they flash, as long as your arm does not severe).

                                THE STRAT


               We all have those moments where we find what looks to be the best opportunity ever, and let go of that E thinking "Gotchya >:),"  as you try to catch out that one person on the enemy team who made a mistake/mispositioned. However, you quickly come to regret your entire existence as you see their entire squad pull up from...god knows where



                                               

                                               Fear not!



                                            I present to you the solution to ALL your problems

          Zac's Holy Grail. This will make those screw-ups where even your passive would be of little use as you get hammered by all 5 players of the enemy team. This will allow you to send the enemy team running as they try to position away from your CC. Heck, this is what will allow you to willingly jump into the enemy team under both of their base towers, AND STILL ALLOW YOU TO COME OUT ALIVE! 

          So what do you do? Well, your goal is to catch the biggest threats out and CC them with your team in the vicinity so they can annihilate them. 

zace.png  ->  3193.png   -> zacq.png    if they're under bigger threat than your team is, meaning if your team is in a worse position and are getting dived by a bunch of divers like Vi, Lee Sin etc and require peel. IN WHICH CASE, you should probably  zacr.png  back to get back to your team while zoning off enemy champions who don't want to fly with you and Q enemy champions on your carries. 





Elastic Slingshot Back to Top

               Yep thats right, this ability is getting its own section because thats how important & significant it is.
THIS ABILITY IS WHAT MAKES OR BREAKS 154.png MAINS. DO NOT MISS THIS ABILITY!

So lets start off by showing why it is so so so sooo valuable with the RANGE of this ability:

As you can see, by leveling this ability up, the distance & area you can jump is drastically increased! Hence giving you more gank paths.

& now finally, MAX RANGE LVL 9 JUMP!!!

So thanks to the extra 250 distance added to max range E, Zac can now jump over an entire side brush near the mid lane :3

Get creative with 154.png's Elastic Slingshot. Give amazing initiations, gank from the most unexpected spots, & CC their entire team to death! Its so good at catching off squishies for your team to delete.

Something I actually learned recently about this ability. If you hit more than one champion, you spawn MORE boblets!!! So imagine jumping on 5 of them, thats 5 extra boblets along with your w & q & standard e boblet = 7 boblets. INSANE healing right there if you have visage & a lot of W's to deal damage since your W cd goes down after you pick up a boblet!

So on 154.png you can easily do a FULL jungle clear & still have more than enough health to gank. 
So start Blue, can smite it to secure if possible invade/trolls -> smite -> wolves -> raptors -> red buff

This is very beneficial for you as you get that lvl 4 E, which means more damage & more jump range! If you see an opening beforehand though, such as the enemy mid laner very close to a side brush that you can easily jump on them from, then a lvl 3 gank would prove more rewarding.

Unlock your W first, then your Q, and after max E first, but make sure to keep picking up your blobs. The way they work is you use 4% of your CURRENT health to use your abilities Q,W,E. Each ability that hits a target will spawn blobs. By picking up these blobs you will heal 4% of your TOTAL health, so when you're low the healing is greater. Also if your abilities do not hit something then you will not spawn blobs & this will cause you to lose that 4% health for nothing :(

NOTE: Your gank time will be a bit delayed as compared to normal junglers. If you see a team mate that is very pushed in or in potential trouble; they havent realized that the enemy team has a shaco and can easily kill them, then ping them off and tell them to care. 

After your first gank, try to rush 6. Do everything you can, safely. Get scuttle crabs, hold lanes for allies when they back to not let EXP & gold go to waste. This means you simply go to their lane if you're nearby & just last hit minions until they come back to lane. 


Ganking Back to Top

Ganking is extremely easy on 154.png. The reason why is due to us maxing his E, elastic slingshot, first. This gives many possible options to gank an enemy from your jungle, enemy jungle, brushes, or even counter-gank the enemy jungler!  How you do it is you jump a bit behind them. This way they will bounce towards your respective laners instead of their tower. If you have ult, you can now ult immediately to bounce them further in! If you do not yet have enough range to jump a bit behind them, its perfectly fine. You can jump on top of them and then move behind them to ult before that 1 second knock up is over :)

NOTE: Care for enemies that can cancel your jump while its charging! Soraka can silence you and cancel it, as well as any stun that hits you. Veigar's stun will stop you mid-flight even, so care for that as well. Janna tornadoes can stop you mid flight too, even thresh flays.

Now I'll show you possible ganks for all lanes!

So here we have options for bottom lane:

You'll often want to make sure the enemy doesnt know you are coming though. Make sure you ping your allies  that you are coming. Try not to ping too late or too early. 
& here is top side.

Mid ~

Don't be afraid to dive the enemy laners under turret, especially if you know that the enemy jungler is on the opposite side of the map. Only do it if you're sure you can pull it off. Might be best not to do it if they are full health, but if you do dive make sure that you are tanking it. If you have to take turret shots until your passive procs, make sure that you get out of turret range with the killing turret blow. Otherwise the turret will focus your blobs! 

Heres one of my favorite ganking spots when you're blue side (same as the photo above just different sides).

This really catches off the enemy mid laner. Their screen will be on the lane and jumping from behind them from their jungle is VERY unexpected; you might even be able to catch them in time without them being able to dodge your jump with flash!
NOTE: I leave a ward in the brush next to me in case the enemy jungler is incoming. If so Ill cancel my jump depending on the risk factor of this gank.

If you're having a hard time landing your jumps, try to jump onto them after they've been CC'd by your team. If melee champions are on your squishies, just jump to where ever your team mate is and it should be a guaranteed hit.

Also NOTE: That you get pretty fast with Ult + Blue Smite and this can be useful to gap-close and get more bounces off on running champions!






Warding Back to Top

Pink ward placement in your jungle, if you start blue side near your blue buff. This gives ample vision of the river & gives you possible surprise ambushes onto people trying to take out the ward.

You can also put it even deeper in the brush to make it riskier for the enemy support to take out. This will give less vision outside of the brush though.

PreGame Back to Top


Champ-select & load screen are actually some of the most crucial phases in the game. Think of it as the solo-que version of draft pick and preparation that LCS teams do. Rather, for us, its much smaller.

PLAN: What will my most optimal build be? What items should I prioritize? Use Lol Wiz or op.gg or whatever else to also see the overall strength of both teams. 

NOTE: Assess what lanes to gank. How should we play the game? If their composition is stronger than yours early game, then try not to force small skirmishes or engage in 2v2s if that is also stronger ( ie. Jungler and Mid vs Enemy Jungler and Mid). If you see an enemy whose recent stats are somewhat poor, or they look like they're on tilt, then by all means, camp their lane somewhat or look to get yourself and your fellow teammates strong off of them. This DOES NOT mean you focus them the entire game; it is better to target their strongest and/or most skilled player when it is most convenient. 

EXTRACT: Take what you've gathered and look forward to taking advantage of it. Would your team fight be a lot stronger if one of you built a certain something? Look to communicating that with that certain someone. Be assertive, but don't be toxic. 

SET: Put everything in motion. A game of league requires a lot of focus. The fact that they can go on for as long as sixty minutes, its hard to play consistently well and make as few mistakes as possible. If your team is tilted before the game has even STARTED, (team mates have beef from last game or they get into an argument over a position or something), put your pride behind the line and try to resolve it in the most optimal non-LP-losing-way. Do not be afraid to dodge if worse comes to worse. It is much better to lose 3 LP rather than 1232183 LP. Tell your teammates to just mute each other if it looks like it'll take way too much effort to resolve it and will end up doing more harm than good. Make sure to mute people too if they easily get to you in a negative way that harms your play. Its better to spend time learning while playing as opposed to arguing.

In order to be able to remember this, just think P.N.E.S. >:D

You are the tank, therefore its your duty to initiate for your carries & cause as much disruption as possible. Save key abilities like your ult to cancel abilities like Janna ult, Malzahar ult, or Warwick ult. Look for picks on enemy squishies. You can easily jump onto them & cause their back line to focus you. One problem with doing this however, is that if they have a comp that can easily dive, then they will dive your squishies as well. If you have no one else that can peel, or you've already jumped into their backline, shift your focus to their front line and get them off your backline. Your ult only knocks up a champion once, and it deals less damage on multiple bounces on the same target. So unless you need more of those bounces to deal enough damage to kill your target, try to bounce on as many champions as possible. If they have a big front line thats trying to get to your backline or they've dived, bounce them all off your carries!!
Its a bit old but still gives some very valuable advice please check her videos out!
So remember to force team fights as that is Zac's specialty. HOWEVER, if the enemy team has a significantly stronger team fight, you should focus on other methods such as having team mates split push if you guys have any one who can, or possible picks with assassins or supports that can pull like Blitzcrank & Thresh.
I will also try to get videos in this guide in the future so I can more properly show you guys how I try to team fight.

[Runes]

 *Old Thoughts*
Standard rune page for Zac that I use. Cdr for faster W wave clear, may attack speed runes for faster clearing, & rest standard defensive runes. Can replace seals for scaling armor but I HIGHLY recommend you don't against possible AD counter junglers like Rengar, Xin Zhao, Kha'Zix, & Shaco. Also you MAY replace attack speed marks for magic pen marks; however this will slower your jungle clear & cause you to have less health after first jungle clear.
*NOTE* I do feel this is the most optimal page, but I typically go with marks. For enemy junglers with a strong wave clear, I suggest you build your page accordingly; if lee sin then take scaling health seals and flat armor quints and for elise take more flat mr glyphs.
You may opt for scaling cooldown glyphs. Also, I would recommend getting the magic penetration marks if you are going runic echoes and to get AP quints!  
Lately, I've been going as tanky as possible; hence the reason why I decided to opt out of cdr and get scaling MR sometimes even scaling armor instead.

After discussing it with Agolas, we've come to the conclusion that runic is better on Zac, to make up for his rather lackluster damage.

Dead mans plate is actually a pretty strong item. If the peel from randuins and crit dmg reduction is unnecessary, then highly recommend you get it since it provides you with even more cc on top of the vast amount you already have!  Now that we have an ADC meta incoming, I highly suggest you prioritize randuins omen since it weakens crit. Thornmail will definitely, on average, be bought earlier and more often. 
Zac's main role is to be a front-line disruptor. This is best done by being as TANKY as possible; cinderhulk thus becomes the best viable option in order to achieve this. Along with the masteries and runes in this guide, you will be able to achieve this very easily. (NOTE: Because I've noticed that games have been shorter, Runic echoes, though an amazing item, is extremely situational. By saying situational, I refer to the rare cases where your team lacks magic damage or you guys have a big front-line already and could use some more damage. Therefore, make sure to typically go for cinderhulk. If you think you've gotten the hang of Zac, then by all means, play a couple of normal games and try it out. In my experiences, I've found that when my team is behind, or falls behind, I'm even more useless since Zac lacks ample damage and AP scalings. Not to mention that the cost-efficiency for Zac isn't as great as cinderhulk since you dont run off mana and movement speed is not core to your abilities or builds. So, in conclusion, get runic echoes if you're extremely ahead. If you somehow got most of the kills in your first few ganks, but use that gold for tanky stats, thats possible damage that your ADC, Mid, or even Bruisers could've used to dish out more damage. MAKE SURE TO ASSESS YOUR MOST OPTIMAL BUILD BEFORE EVERY GAME, AT THE END OF CHAMP SELECT AND DURING LOAD SCREEN! IF YOU CAN ABUSE HEALTH ITEMS, GET RYLAIS OVER WARMOGS, but most importantly, 
GO BIG or GO HOME!!!154.png
