Summoner Spells Back to Top

Hey Guys!
For those who have read this guide before, then this is my first build I ever made on LoLKing. I started out making a guide, that wasn't really figured out by myself (I didn't take the honor for this guide, I gave it to the real creator), but watching on this guide in a couple of times made me thinking about, "Why shouldn't I try to make one myself, with some inspiration from other's guides?". The items, skill leveling and runes would be edited compared to the my first version of this guide.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Here it is guys. My updated guide build for Zed in Season 7. Enjoy!

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

3.png: Those summoner spells were those I saw xDargeon used. In my opinion I see it useful against high movem. spd, dashing and jumping champions, like Katarina, Karma and Yasuo. So keep an eye on the enemy midlaner's pick. It could also be good against, maybe Talon, because when you use exhaust it also makes his damage more squishy. (Keep in mind, that these champions above, has a change to deal a 40% lowered damage on you, and in reverse you deal 10% more damage at them.)

14.png: This is what I usually use myself. Everyone knows it's a common setup for summoner spells on many champions, Zed also. It's because that ignite gives a higher kill potential. Which could be very useful, in situations where you fail with your ult, then fast put ignite upon the enemy champion, but it would be waste of ignite, if you know, that you didn't hit enough before your ult is going to trigger. Another example for wasting Ignite, is when you start out with it, before you're going in(Who does that?). So use it after your ult or in the middle of the fight to get a better potential you win your duel. But otherwise, don't use it, if you know you can get the kil easily.

1.png: Cleanse. The summoner spell that debuff all CC. It could be useful fighting hard CC enemies, and I doesn't mean like Lux' snare only. But like Annie's stun, or Malzahar's silence. But, yeah some would say, "Why use cleanse on Zed? He's AD, you could just buy a QSS". Yeah you're right, but an extra debuffing spell aren't that bad, atleast not, when u talk about an assassin. Oh, and one more fact. It works on Ignite and Exhaust too. So Cleanse litteraly also make you survive from ignite, when ex. Shaco comes to use his ignite as an ending of his attack.

12.png: You would probably wonder, why I had put Teleport into this guide. Well, I would only prefer it for toplaners, at first. But, an assassin with Teleport would be quite more assassinating, if they had teleport, teleporting to an undiscovered ward inside the enemy jungle, using Youmou (if, you got it), and coming from behind and assassinate them.
But, if you wanna use it in midlane, then remember that it's mostly the best for you to have up your teleport for roaming top or botlane.

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

Ferocity:

Sorcery

Well, I am not quite sure, why he decided to pick Sorcery, but I think it has smth to do with the damage from Thunderlord(10% of your Ability Power) As I wrote in the top. I can't explain everything.

Fresh Blood

Well, this would be a great choice, because later in the match, where you would be using your abilities for kills and end it with an AA, The extra damage to your basic attack, and it is for you basic attack only, so have a bigger chance to last hit your target. Especially when you've got this awesome passive, Contrempt for the Weak, that gives you 6-10% of the target's maximum health made to a bonus magic damage, when they're lower than 50% HP.

(Feast

If u wanna be safe early, to be fed on farm, then you would need Feast, for the 20 health restore from every killing unit.)

Vampirism

Vampirism, sounds good, right? Assassins are champions running around and jumping out from the jungle, or the river and assasinating their opponents. So, to really be an assassin and u would could survive I prefer Vampirism compared to Natural Talent. Zed kind a need the lifesteal and that's smth Natural Talent can't give.

Bounty Hunter

Many would say it's better to choose Oppressor, I agree with them, but Bounty Hunter are very good for pro Zed players. Cuz, most of them easily win their lane and get fed, which is the best part to use Bounty Hunter, because it gives u "1% increased damage for each unique enemy champion you have killed". In my ears it's sounds pretty like a mastery for an assassin.

(Battle Trance

Battle Trance, gives you 5% extra damage for over 5 seconds, when you enter a fight with your opponent. This mastery is also good, I prefer players that don't get a lot of kills with Zed to pick this. It'll help you in your trades, and could be helpful, when you try to assassinate the enemy AD Carrier.)

Cunning:

Wanderer

Do I really have to explain this? Okay. Movement Speed, what a great mastery for an assassin. Everyone knows that assassins and ninjas have to be as fast as the wind. So it would help you to catch your target.

(Savagery

If u don't like to use Wanderer, then u would also could use Savagery, for the extra dmg to minions. It should be good with Zed's passive. At least for farming. I recommend it, if you pick Feast, because it's a part of the defensive style, where you gonna become fed on minions instead of kills.)

Assassin

Again, do I really have to explain it? It's even in the name. Everyone can see, that this mastery couldn't be any obvious as putting it as the name.

(Greenfather's Gift

This mastery is also an available choice, if you're like maybe going Zed top, and abuse the bushes in your playstyle, like going in, just to get the extra dmg and cast a Q. I actually got many information about this, but I know it could be useful for Zed toplaners.)

Merciless

Well, yeah. Merciless. Zed is the Master of Shadows, what more can I say AND, why should players use Meditation on a champion who use energy? This might logic even in a newbies mind. The 5%  damaged dealed to players below 40% health + Zed's passive? Couldn't be more outrageous for the Master of Shadows.

Dangerous Game

Getting 5% of your health back after a kill or assist, sure why not? U would easily get your HP, back with your lifesteal items. It's good for you early and I wouldn't recommend Bandit for Zed, it's more useful on Yasuo or Ahri.

Precision

Hmm, Sorcery + Precision + Thunderlord? Wouldn't it be an exploding damage! I prefer Precision, because of the Arm. Pen and Mag. Pen (For the Sorcery's sake). Sure you could take Intelligence too for the CD. As I mentioned, Assassins have to be fast, and it includes your spell casting too.

Thunderlord's Decree

Finally we made it! As people remember, this keystone was a legendary pick in patch 5.24 and higher (Untill patch 6.1) It gives you "Damage: 10 per level, plus 30% of your Bonus Attack Damage, and 10% of your Ability Power". So I prefer this, if you're doing 12/18/0. But, if you're doing 18/12, then pick Fervor of Battle.

Skill Order of Zed.JPG

Well, there's 2 styles of skill leveling Zed, they're not quite different, it's only the skill you level up at level 2, that's changed.

The First One is Q, E, W. Which is the one they use mostly in higher divisions. It's kind of useful, if you're having a face-to-face fight with your opponent laner.

The Second One is Q, W, E. This one, are used by plenty of Zed beginners, but also at divisions like Bronze and Silver. It has a very great escape, if you're getting ganked early by the enemy jungler. But it's also a great style for poking your opponent and making them lack of CS.

*Update*

There's actually 3 ways you could level up your skills on Zed. Probably not many in my own division know it, but it normally being used in higher divisions, maybe around gold to diamond. It looks like this:

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    A Standard Start for Zed
Build first the Hexdrinker, but afterwards start build Tiamat, and continue with the Ravenous Hydra. Then you can continue with Malmortius.
Core Item Set 2: For start up the 3rd build. Against AP start the Hexdrinker Against AD start Serrated Dirk or try to go for B.F Sword
Always remember to buy the control ward

Core Items

    After first recall
    If, fighting AP
Choose Duskblade, if you fight against AD, and Maw of Malmortius agaisnt AP
2 of the most used items on Zed
Choose what you find best, but I prefer, even Ionian or Mobilty, if you're against a normal team. VS Hard CC Team, take Mercury and VS Full AD take Ninja
If, you wanna get fed on farm, pick this type of Hydra
    Full Build Example
If you feel like you're lacking of HP, but still want some damage
It's a good item for farming and, would also could been put in somewhere in the combo
These magnifical upgrades of Last Whisper would also be great in a Zed build. Lord Dominic vs squishy teams and Mortal Reminder vs tanky teams
FACTS: A person told me, that when you're playing against a team with only 1 AP source, you'll have to build Sterak's, cuz it blocks all source of damage. So Malmortius only, when it's 2 or higher AP sources
A 3rd little build, for those who means that Hydra isn't meant for Zed. Tip: If, needed pick the Black Cleaver before Duskblade or between the Duskblade and Youmouu
Try this new item. It could be a pretty good replacement of Youmuu's, fighting AP champs. Combo: Edge of Night, R, Ignite, E, W, Q.

Situational Items

Here I guess, I don't have to write smth. It's logic.
For some more sustain, then Sterak would be a good choice, but only buy this item, if you're not going for Malmortius as they can't trigger at the same time

Information about the builds and items

Common Build:

3142.png3158.png3147.png3153.png3156.png3026.png: This build is probably the most common build on Zed, but when you look on many other players, then they actually wouldn't go that much for this build, because there's much more items in the shop, that fits Zed well, like  3071.png  and  3812.png. Both of them gives cooldown reduction, but BC(Black Cleaver) gives health, mov. spd. on hit and reduce the enemies armor by 5%(stacked up to 6 times = 30%). And when it comes to DD(Death's Dance), then it gives cooldown reduction, health restore dealing 15% damage, and 15% of damage taken is dealt as bleed.

A more potential build:

3074.png3009.png3142.png3071.png3156.png3812.png: This build gives you a better farming potential (Thanks to 3074.png), and also some mov. spd. and CD to obtain kills and get feed, but even, when you got BC, then you should need to come from behind or from the jungle. 3156.png got a great passive that trigger, when you're lost 30% of your health, and gives you a shield like Morgana's blackshield.png, that absorbs the magic damage, that would hit you. Here around patch 6.10 to 6.11, then Riot had been so kind and added "+10 Armor Penetration" on Malmortius(What a great adjustment for Zed, isn't it?)

Lord Dominic and Mortal Reminder

3036.png3033.pngThe two items 3036.png and 3033.png would I let you decide where you wanna put in one of these two items. But I can tell you when I would do. First of all. If, I'm behind and I'm fighting against a squishy team, then I would choose3036.png, to collect more damage. It hits more on champions, who has 1,5% more health than me.
When I'm up against a tanky team, then I would choose to build3033.png, because of it's passive from 3123.png, that includes Grievous Wounds, which make me able to hit the enemy, and making his health regeneration reduced, so he would be easier to kill. A good item for killing 106.png.

Level Up Combo

When players begin to play Zed for their first time, mostly of them might find it easily to play Zed................but, there is also some basic practice they need to learn, first of all, Zed's combo, yeah it looks pretty easy for most of us, but it's literally not always the same combo, you're going to use and maybe not even able to land the full combo, of course in level 3, you got permission to land a combo, which is like this:

zedW.png > zedE.png > zedQ.png

This one is an easy one, but of course you also notice a combo while hitting level 2, if you level up, both your Q and W. It goes like this
zedW.png(To your right or left corner) > zedQ.png

Surviving Combo

Some days ago I discovered a 1v1 combo, for Zed, which would deny ult and range attacks, if the opponent stand right in front of you. Imagine fighting Ezreal and he gets in a full combo on you(which probably shouldn't happen), and he's about to use ult, then I made this combo:

zedW.png >  zedE.png >  zedW.png >  zedQ.png = zedpassive.png(AA)
(AA = Auto Attack)

Engage Combo

This combo is pretty amazing, you can even tower dive with this one, but I wouldn't recommend it, if you're a first timer, or a Zed Amateur. But you can to 100% focused, when you do this combo, especially for tower dives. Okay, it goes like this:

zedR.png >  zedE.png >  zedW.png  > zedW.png > zedQ.png
(If you got ignite, you could use it between E and W)
