Runes Back to Top

  • 9x
+1.28 armor penetration Greater Mark of Armor Penetration
  • 9x
+1.34 magic resist Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
  • 9x
+1 armor Greater Seal of Armor
  • 3x
+2.25 attack damage Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage

We take the 9x Mark of Armor Penetration so that we can do more damage early game against champs like Darius, and besides from 3035_32.png, this build doesn't have all that much armor pen

9x seal of armor and 9x Glyph of Magic resist allow us to have much better durability in the early laning phase and team fights. The reason that we use scaling magic resist runes rather than flat is because in the top lane, you will most likely be facing somebody that is focused on attack damage or becoming a tank, or both. So, the scaling magic resist gives a better boost when it's needed. Though, you could run flat magic resist runes instead, so that you have more early game protection.

Skill Order: Cannon_Barrage.jpg > Remove_Scurvy.jpg > Parrrley.jpg > Raise_Morale.jpg

  • R should be maxed first since it is his sniping ability, and its utility as a slow.
  • E Should be maxed immediately after due to its huge sustain in laning phase and teamfights.
  • Q should be maxed thrid because it's his main damage source (the reason i don't max this first is because it doesnt lower its cooldown when you level it up.
  • W should be maxed last as a single point in it should be sufficient to outrun ganks etc.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

You want to rush a tear with your faerie charm, a ward so you dont get ganked early, red pots for sustain
A good start if your looking to stay in lane for awhile. Using the crystalline flask will make it a great buy if its used for 3 backs atleast.
    First mini-core items

Core Items

This should be your core build. Build Spirit of the elder > T2 boots > manamune > statik shiv > iceborn > last whisper/Botrk

Situational Items

If the enemy team has someone with a strong CC that could potentially get you killed if landed/used on you, this is a good item to buy. Replace BotRK with this item if needed.
you can pick this item up if your team is doing well and you just want the extra damage. It synergizes well with your Q poke and adds to your kiting and chasing ability.
A good defensive item, I would recommend this if you want more survivability in team fights. Also helps with your kiting as well.
I would recommend this as a last item if you are getting focused a lot and people see you as a huge threat in a fight. A good pickup, and can possibly win the fight.

Start with

  • Typically I start Cloth armor & 5x potions, but in Gankplank's sutiation I prefer to have more sustain since he has an insane mana cost early game

  • This is the ideal build for blue gangplank as he requies damage, survivability and insane peeling. The items have been listed in the order in which they should be completed
