Summoner Spells Back to Top

General All-purpose Wukong :

14.png4.png

This is what you will be using like 99% of the time you play Wukong. Ignite provides a handy healing debuff and helps secure kills, flash for all around utility in both offense and defense.

"I can't kill my lane" Wukong :

12.png4.png

This is what you will use when you know 100% that you can't kill your lane opponent, while these situations are fairly rare outside high elo ranked matches where people specifically counterpick you with the hardest possible counters - teleport will provide you with much needed breathing room to quickly join fights happening in other parts of the map to hopefully get kills and help your team secure objectives. I will go over in fully detail about when to pick teleport in the matchups section so don't worry if you are not sure when to pick this summoner spell. Flash of course for obvious safety and offensive / defensive utility.

Jungle King Kong :

11.png4.png

This is what you will use for when you are jungling Wukong obviously! Smite helps you secure buffs and function as a jungler, flash for obvious reasons.

! Note that you can pick 3.png14.png12.png instead of 4.png if you are confident you can get away with it.

(Not recommended for novice Wukong players)

Summoner spells you should avoid :

6.png

Ghost is in all honesty pretty much worthless on Wukong. He already has unparalleled mobility to begin with in the from of his low cooldown dash, ultimate movement speed component and most likely both 3142_32.png and 3153_32.png actives.

If you are having trouble keeping up with someone in teamfights then you are doing something seriously wrong.

If you feel like you need the roaming potential for some reason then 12.png right down your alley otherwise you should never pick ghost over flash in any situation.

1.png

If you find yourself being targeted by a lot of crowd control then consider buying a 3139_32.png

21.png

The idea behind barrier is good : Wukong ideally wants to be in the middle of the whole enemy team doing insane damage with his ultimate and barrier will help keep you alive that much longer as you inevitably draw aggro from everyone after the knockups come flying down. But the main issue is that you can't really fit it anywhere sadly, in pretty much every single case you will want to have 14.png to help you guarantee a kill on the target you want dead so that's 1 slot occupied and 4.png is a irreplaceable summoner spell on a champion with no defensive escape like Wukong. So you are left with simply not having room for barrier in pretty much all cases. It's not a bad summoner spell by no means and has its use in some VERY limited situations that I will go over in the matchups section. Overall you should not take this unless you are trying some next level 14.png21.png stuff. (it doesn't work)

13.png

This might be hard to believe to some but I have actually seen people in lower elo's pick this with the excuse that Wukong has massive mana problems. While he's certainly not the best champion when it comes to mana costs and natural mana regen his mana problems are not so big that he needs a whole summoner slot dedicated to patching up this weakness.  Save yourself the trouble, embarrassment and slot by simply buying a 2041_32.png

Runes Back to Top

  • 9x

  • 9x
+1.28 armor penetration Greater Mark of Armor Penetration
  • 3x
+2.25 attack damage Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
There are many ways to rune Wukong as he scales well with every offensive and defensive stat (outside AP) in the game. Down below I will explore the most viable options to rune him while giving insight on why you should pick them and when. In general the thought-process behind picking your runes for Wukong is quite simple : Pick whatever runes help you deal damage and keep you safe early game. While this might seem like the general guideline for nearly every offensive oriented champion in the game it's especially important for Wukong as his early game is arguably his weakest phase when facing smart opponents who don't just run at you and die.

Standard All-purpose Wukong :

  • Lifesteal Quints x3 (6% lifesteal)
  • Flat attack damage Marks x9 (8.55 flat attack damage)
  • Flat armor Seals x9 (12.69 flat armor)
  • Flat or scaling magic resistance Glyphs x9 (12.06 flat magic resistance or 24.3 scaling magic resistance)

wu0.jpg

This is the standard runepage you can use for Wukong in every situation (yes even jungle). Lifesteal quints patch up Wukongs lack of sustain in lane, armor seals provide you with protection against physical attacks, flat attack damage marks help you last hit easier and do more damage with abilities while also having direct synergy with lifeateal quints and flat or scaling magic resistance glyphs help keep you safe from magical damage. I almost always recommend using flat magic resistance glyphs because they combine well with your passive, base resists and defense tree if you speced into it. Wukongs #1 priority is farming up his items and becoming a carry, these runes will help keep you alive early game when you are most vulnerable in most cases.

  • Pros : Additional sustain will keep you in lane longer allowing you more farm and faster acquisition of items.
  • Cons : Less overall damage in trades means you might be forced out of lane if the enemy laner forces trades on you early.

Lane aggression Wukong :

  • Flat attack damage Quints x3 (6.75 flat attack damage)
  • Flat attack damage Marks x9 (8.55 flat attack damage)
  • Flat armor Seals x9 (12.69 flat armor)
  • Flat or scaling magic resistance Glyphs x9 (12.06 flat magic resistance or 24.3 scaling magic resistance)

wu3.jpg

If you want to focus mainly on outright killing or forcing the enemy laner out then this is what you should use. Same runes as the above page with the exception of lifesteal quints. The overall combined damage from the flat ad quints and marks will provide you with more burst and overall damage when fighting someone. This is very handy in certain matchups where the enemy laner will usually never let you simply farm or in a situation where you want to do the opposite and kill the champion you are facing without much retaliation making sustain not a necessity. I will go over the situations when you want to use this page in the matchups section.

  • Pros : Higher overall damage helps kill or trade with the enemy laner better.
  • Cons : Lack of sustain can seriously put you behind and delay your crucial items.

Full Armor penetration Wukong  :

  • Armor penetration Quints x3 (7.68 flat armor penetration)
  • Armor penetration Marks x9 (11.52 flat armor penetration)
  • Flat armor Seals x9 (12.69 flat armor)
  • Flat or scaling magic resistance Glyphs x9 (12.06 flat magic resistance or 24.3 scaling magic resistance)

wu1.jpg

This is a somewhat outdated old school Wukong page from back when armor penetration was the shiet to run on every bruiser but ever since the this particular rune nerfs, brutalizer nerfs and meta shifting away from penetration runes to flat attack damage this page is not really used much anymore. It does not mean it's bad however as it still has it's place in some matchups and can work really well if you get past the laning phase with no problems. The penetration stacks up very well with all the items Wukong usually gets and helps you reach that truedamage aoe blender of death sweetspot all the sooner.

  • Pros : Stacks incredibly well with penetration items.
  • Cons : Can make laning very hard as you will have no sustain, harder time last hitting and in some cases 0 damage against the enemy champion.

Mixed attack damage and penetration Wukong :

  • Flat attack damage Quints x3 (6.75 flat attack damage)
  • Armor penetration Marks x9 (11.52 flat armor penetration)
  • Flat armor Seals x9 (12.69 flat armor)
  • Flat or scaling magic resistance Glyphs x9 (12.06 flat magic resistance or 24.3 scaling magic resistance)

wu2.jpg

This is a very old Wukong page that has been the backbone of Wukong for many seasons in a row. If you don't have lifesteal quints or simply do not like using them then this is what you should turn to if you seek a balanced distribution of power that will help you reach truedamage status faster while also providing good ability damage boost and last hitting.

  • Pros : Provides a even all across the board damage boost at all stages of the game.
  • Cons : Lack of sustain might be a problem in some cases.

Specialist runes :

The runes listed here are nice to have if you have the spare IP to get them but they are not required for general Wukong play. Some of them can seriously help you counter your lane to it's fullest.

  • Flat magic resistance Seal : (6.66 flat magic resistance) (18.72 flat magic resistance combined with flat magic resistance glyph)
wu4.jpg

I use this rune when I absolutely do not expect any early game physical damage. The combination of magic resistance seals and glyphs along with your passive, base stats and +6 from defense tree will pool into a overwhelming 59.97 magic resistance at level 1 when you are near your lane opponent. This is absolute death to any mage that does purely magic damage as they will pretty much do nothing to you and you are free to dictate the lane any way you want. You will lack early game armor as a downside but in some cases the massive early magic resistance will more then pay off to compensate.

  • Flat armor Glyph : (6.3 flat armor) (18.99 flat armor combined with flat armor seal)
wu5.jpg

The exact same principle applies from the above : if you don't expect any magic damage at all then this is very nice to have especially against physical damage bruisers that want to trade with you all the time. The combination of armor seals and glyphs along with your passive, base stats and +6 from defense tree will pool into a impressive sum of 47.49 armor at level 1 when you are near your lane opponent. You can further increase this number with a cloth armor start to a even more impressive 62,49 armor + 5 potions worth of sustain. This will make you very hard to take down for a physical damage champion and since you have natural magic resistance scaling and your passive you will not be completely stripped of magical defense neither.

Runes you should avoid :

  • Movement Speed Quints : Just like ghost they have no purpose on a highly mobile champion like Wukong. Taking away the best offensive rune slot for Wukong and replacing it with "go a bit faster" runes is not a good idea.
  • Health Regen Quints : The simple fact that lifesteal quints exist makes this rune obsolete. Lifesteal quints are both more useful and scale all game along with your damage.
  • Flat Health Quints : If you need early health then simply invest 9 points into the defense tree, no need to waste a rune slot.
  • Mixed Penetration Runes : Decoys damage is not high enough to justify getting this rune instead of Armor penetration.

Conclusion :

If you are confused on what runes to use in what situations don't worry I will go over runes for specific champions in the matchups and how to play section. In general you should use either the lifesteal quints page or full flat ad one.

Utility: 3

While Wukong might have a fairly narrow rune selection when it comes to effectiveness his mastery situation is completely different. Wukong can effectively use every mastery tree to its full effect making his mastery page different pretty much every game depending on who you face. However my particular style of play with him follows a few guidelines :

  • Full offense is usually not ideal
  • We usually never go deeper then 9 points in defense tree
  • 9 points in utility is mandatory at all times
  • When in doubt go 9/9/12
  • 9/0/21 is actually very good in most cases
With that out of the way let's take a look at our first mastery page pictured above :

9/9/12 Balanced Wukong :

This is the mastery page I find myself using the most these days, it provides me with all the good stuff from every tree. It can be fine tuned to either give you more armor or magic resistance or both. In utility you can take buff mastery if you are mid lane and expect to get blue buffs or just a bit more lifesteal from vampirism. This is the all around best mastery page to use for Wukong in every situation as it has everything you need with no real weakness besides slightly lower damage output early on. I highly recommend using lifesteal quints with this mastery page as it will directly synergize with vampirism to give you ridiculous sustain early on.

  • Pros : All around balanced buffer to damage, tankyness, sustain and utility.

  • Cons : Damage output is not as high as it can be.

21/0/9 Full offense Wukong :

21.0.9wu.jpg

21/0/9 is the straight forward "I want to deal the most damage possible" mastery page that should be used when your goal is to either kill or push out your lane opponent. This mastery page trades defense tree's tankyness and utility trees sustain for additional offensive power. If you are playing mid lane allocate 1 point into buff mastery to increase blue buff duration other then that there is nothing much you can change here. It's recommended to use either full flat ad, full armor pen or mixed flat ad armor pen pages with this mastery set.

  • Pros : Highest possible damage output.

  • Cons : Squishy without defense masteries, no additional sustain.

9/0/21 Safe Wukong :

9.0.21wu.jpg

This is my standard "I want to be safe" mastery page for Wukong. I provides lots of useful tools to help you stay in lane, stay safe from ganks and farm up. First off the additional starting gold gives you the option to buy a additional ward or more potions, naturally you get a free potion and a short term ward from the buiscuiteer and explorer masteries. Lastly the single point in the cdr mastery combines with 3 points in offense to form a perfect 5% cooldown reduction to top you off on your quest to get 40% cooldown reduction (as you gain 35% with my build). As usual if you are going mid get the rune mastery if not grab 3/3 vampirism. I do not get the movement speed mastery as I feel like I really don't need it on Wukong and points being very tight as it is. Pickpocket is tempting but the gold bonus is ignorable and you don't go this deep into utility to trade constantly with someone. Also there is sadly no room for the xp mastery. I recommend using lifesteal quints with this mastery page.

  • Pros : Safety from jungle ganks, more sustain, additional income.

  • Cons : Damage output is lower, you are squishier then usual with no defense masteries.

What about 21 defense?

Having tried going deep into defense I feel like Wukong seriously does not need to go past 9 points in defense ever. You gain very small bonuses to your survivability while trading out either damage from 9 offense or the absolutely mandatory sustain/regen of the utility tree. We also do not get any serious defense items most of the time with my build so the % health mastery and cc reduction on a very slippery champ is rather wasted.

Standard skilling order :

  • Always skill your ult at levels 6, 11 and 16
  • Always max out E before Q (explained below)
  • Put 1 point into W early and level it last

Standard 1-6 skilling order :

Nimbus_Strike.jpg<>Crushing_Blow.jpg>Nimbus_Strike.jpg>Decoy.jpg>Nimbus_Strike.jpg>Cyclone.jpg

Level 1 skill depends on the lane opponent, get both E and Q at level 2. If you are facing early harass and need decoys safety then level up decoy at level 2 or 3.

Wukong's abilities explained :

Passive :

Stone_Skin.jpg

  • Provides you with 4/6/8 bonus armor and magic resistance for every enemy champion in a 1400 radius around you
  • Upgrades at level 1, 7 and 13
  • Provides you with 40 bonus armor and magic resistance in a full 5v5 lategame teamfight
  • Is worth 1440 gold in stats at its peak functionality
  • Helps full damage Wukong work
  • Does not work with Leblanc passive or Mordekaiser ghost
  • Does not work against invisible or stealthed champions

Q :

Crushing_Blow.jpg

  • Partial auto attack reset
  • Gives 125 bonus range on next attack
  • Applies on hit effects, can crit, works on towers
  • Shreds targets armor by 30% for 3 seconds
  • Static 40 mana cost makes it spammable
  • Good for punishing melee champions in lane from a safe distance
  • Helps you deal damage with all your other abilities
  • Only base damage goes up (shred and scaling stay the same it's why we level this after E)
  • Will hit someone trough flash
  • 3 sec cooldown with 40% cdr (can keep shred on someone forever)

W :

Decoy.jpg

  • Blocks skillshots
  • Acts as a champion for the purposes of Cait ult, Morde ult etc
  • 0.1 sec disjoint time during use can dodge Karthus ult, 1 tick of ignite etc (very hard to do)
  • Stealth lets you get in range for your full combo
  • Counts as a minion for the purposes of tower aggro (using decoy as your last minion dies causes tower to shift focus on the decoy instead of you)
  • Good timing causes towers to drop aggro (use it as the tower is about to fire off a new shot on you)
  • Mindgames with stop jukes
  • Proper use of this ability is what makes or breaks a good Wukong player
  • 6 sec cooldown with 40% CDR (if you spend 1.5 sec in stealth the actual cooldown is 4.5)

E :

Nimbus_Strike.jpg

  • Low cooldown gapcloser
  • Provides 50% attackspeed for 4 seconds after landing
  • Gives you a free auto attack on primary target as you land (animation bug)
  • Damage and attackspeed buff  can be fully blocked by CC (lux bind for example)
  • Can have extended range when used on minions to hit champion on the edge
  • Helps push towers and deal damage with auto attacks after ult is down
  • 4.8 sec cooldown with 40% cdr (can keep attackspeed buff up almost forever)

R :

Cyclone.jpg

  • Blender of death
  • Highest ad scaling in the game
  • Knocks enemies up in the air for 1.5 seconds
  • The best teamfighting ability in the game
  • Gives you movementspeed that increases the longer you spin
  • Don't be afraid to use it to escape after getting CDR items
  • 54 sec cooldown with 40% CDR (if you spend 4 sec spinning actual cooldown is 50 seconds at rank 3)

Basic combo in lane :

Nimbus_Strike.jpg>AA>Crushing_Blow.jpg>Decoy.jpg

This is what you will be doing in like 80% of cases as nobody is usually stupid enough to let you just walk up hit them with Q first and then E and auto attack without quickly answering back. Wukong is fragile early and most of the laners you go against can easily do the same damage or out damage you if you let them react. This is what it's so important to come flying in quickly do your damage and get out before any serious return damage can be dealt.

Ideal combo in lane :

AA>Crushing_Blow.jpg>Nimbus_Strike.jpg>AA>Decoy.jpg

This is the "ideal" combo and will do the most possible damage but as I said above it's really hard to pull off against good players without taking too much damage. If you are against a weak melee laner or someone that just can't react fast enough go right ahead and do this rotation. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't it's all based on the situation.

The all in combo :

Decoy.jpg+3142_32.png active (optional) >Nimbus_Strike.jpg>Crushing_Blow.jpg>Cyclone.jpg+3153_32.png active + 14.png

This is what you will be using to win games and it's why Wukong is such a monster. The combined damage of this combo is enough to kill any squishy out of nowhere without anyone reacting. If they don't die instantly, they die to your ult and ignite instead.

How to do it :

First off you want to find a spot that's right outside the enemy sight range, it can be anywhere depending on the game. Either way it's important the enemy team does not see you coming and that you reach the backline before the stealth wears off. To do this you will usually have to anticipate how the enemy priority targets move, like for example during a siege you see cait walking up to Q you immediately decoy stealth and go directly at her so that when she stops to Q you jump on her and unleash your full damage out of nowhere. You can also use corners, bushes and other paths it doesn't matter as long as the enemy does not see you until you are already in motion towards the target with your E.

Second you Q after you land and immediately R. Now you have a few choices, either to immediately ignite (best option if there are heals on the enemy team) or save it after they come out of knock up to make sure they die to ignite after they try to escape. You can either use 3153_32.png active as you land on them to make sure they are slowed and can't escape your ult at all or slow them after they flash or dash away to catch up. Sometimes it's best to use everything immediately and erase someone without anyone having time to react. Sometimes the damage is just so high that you don't need to ignite your first target at all or use BotrK active saving it for target number two.

Now you need to figure out how you chase if your prey is not dead yet, you can either keep spinning and use the speed or cancel ult and E on the target again. Sometimes its best to just keep spinning after the target and sometimes you need to cancel ult immediately and go into decoy stealth to avoid cc as you catch up. With a 5/6 item build no squishy will survive past the knock up so you don't have to worry much most of the time. Even if they do escape flash or spin after them or just use E.

Starting item choices

Standard start :

2003_64.png2041_64.png2044_64.png

This is the all-purpose start that can work in every situation (outside jungling). Flask provides you with great sustain to keep you in lane longer and get more farm for those much needed early rush items. 1 potion for extra health and a ward to keep you safe from early ganks. You can never go wrong with this start on Wukong.

All-in start :

1055_64.png

If you know you can outright kill your lane opponent before they force you out then this is what you should go for. It's a pretty bad sustain choice since in my experience nobody will let you really auto attack creeps long enough for this to keep you alive even if you have lifesteal quints to go along with it. If you are looking to sustain then go for the flask start as it will provide you with much more actual sustain without forcing you to push the lane all the time. Blade start is fairly risky unless you know for sure you can make it work for you.

Shield start :

2003_64.png1054_64.png

This start can be very good in some situations particularly if you are in a 2v1 swap lane or against a very heavy auto attacker. Even if you don't start with this item it's still one of the best defensive options to get early on for Wukong since it works amazingly well with his passive.

Cloth 5 start :

2003_64.png1029_64.png

If you are expecting to take a ton of physical damage in lane and just need to survive to get levels then this is a good starting option. I don't usually build the cloth armor into anything and just let it sit there until I need the slot for a damage item since it no longer builds into GA.

Jungling start :

2003_64.png1039_64.png

This is what you should start with when you go jungling as Wukong. Machete works well with your E's attackspeed buff to give you okay clear times early on, potions to keep you alive.

Borrowed time start :

2003_64.png2037_64.png

Need to make sure you absolutely crush your lane and get a kill early? Start with this, it gives you health and damage. This is a pretty risky start as it can backfire and leave you a item behind your counterpart but it can be amazing if it works for you as it will snowball you ahead very hard. Sometimes the raw safety that the health part of this start provides is what you are looking for as some laners will not try to kill you if they see you with this item. Red pot can also be used to save you from ignite as it ignores healing reduction and bait people into diving you in lower elos. I don't like this start much anymore but it has it's use for sure even after the nerfs.

+

1 item depending on the game

(sell flask for 6th slot)

2041_64.png : Best starting item

  • Each charge gives you 49 gold worth of stats
  • Breaks even with potions after 4.22 charges
  • You only have to drink it 9 times for the item to pay for itself
  • Your one-stop solution for all of Wukongs mana problems
  • Queue up 3 charges in teamfights to give you 360 health regen and 180 mana regen over 36 sec
  • Refills when you go back to base (and you go back a lot on Wukong)
Flask is seriously amazing in so many ways. First off it's a great early game regen item that will keep you in lane for as long as you want, it refills every time you go back so you will always get a bunch of free potions on your way out. It's incredibly cost efficient and solves all your mana problems for the entire game until you need the slot for a 6th item, allowing you to sell it for 40% of it's value. I get this item every single game and can't imagine playing Wukong without it.

3144_64.png : Best rush item

  • The combination of damage, sustain and utility make this the perfect item to rush on Wukong
  • Active provides a very useful slow that can be used to chase or escape
  • Active provides a small increase to overall all-in burst early on
  • Cost effective even without it's active
  • 60 sec base cooldown active is reduced to 51 sec with 2/2 artificer from utility
Cutlass is one of the best early game items for Wukong out there, not only does it provide you with sustain and additional damage it also has a utility active that can be used for both offensive and defensive purposes. It's one of the most cost efficent items in the game and builds into a core item we get later on : 3153_32.png
Note that you should always get cutlass before 3134_32.png because of the massive safety and utility it provides.

3142_64.png : Best 1st major item

  • Builds out of 3134_32.pnga core early game damage item for Wukong
  • Provides you with every offensive stat you could ever ask for
  • Active is one of the most useful ones out there giving you additional pushing power, chasing, escaping, overall mobility, initiation power and damage increase with auto attacks
  • This item has direct synergy with everything Wukong does
  • The active, crit chance and your E all combine together to make you a serious threat even after you use your ult
  • Active 45 sec cooldown is reduced to 38 sec with 2/2 utility artificer allowing you to have it up every fight (actual cooldown is 32 sec since the active itself lasts 6 sec total)
  • Is very cost efficient if you use the active alot
This is by far my most favorite item in the game. The amount of raw utility and damage you get from this one item is just overwhelming and the active has a million uses : Use it to chase someone down, push a tower faster, escape, get to a fight faster, keep up with someone as you ult, get into range in your decoy stealth, increase your damage after you used ult and so on. Since the cooldown is a mere 32 seconds you will always have this baby up when you need it. Playing Wukong without this item is heresy, always get it and get it early.

3275_64.png : Best boots for Wukong

  • Provides you with a massive 15% cooldown reduction
  • Helps you reach 40% cooldown reduction cap
  • The best offensive and defensive boot choice for Wukong (skills come up faster, more decoys means more escapes with stealth)
  • 40% cdr cap makes Wukong a unparalleled assasin
  • Homeguard enchant helps Wukong quickly buy items and get back to killing things
Ionian Homeguard or IHG is the best and only boot choice to get for Wukong because he mostly depends on his abilities to do damage. Because of his passive and decoy stealth you should never have problems with CC or taking too much damage in teamfights. Wukong is by nature a very mobile and slippery champion making these boots ideal for him because they will allow you to get more decoys off, dash more, ult more and slam people with Q more. The added bonus of having cdr cap from the 3142_32.png3275_32.png3071_32.png combo early on is that nobody ever expects your ult to be on a 54 sec cooldown or you to be able to decoy twice or even three times in a fight.

3071_64.png : Best tanky damage item

  • The combination of health and damage make this a very good item to get to tank up mid game as the health has direct synergy with your passive and base stats
  • Amazing synergy with your ult
  • Makes your ult a aoe armor shredding blender of death that helps your team do physical damage to the people you spin next to
  • Cooldown reduction combines with 3275_32.png3142_32.pngto reach 40% cap midgame
  • Is gold efficient with just 1 stack on someone
  • With max stacks and your Q applied to a target they will have 47.5% less armor against ALL physical attacks
While you sadly can't stack these anymore Black Cleaver is still a boss item for Wukong. It makes you tanky while giving you everything you want from a damage item. It's basically a tanky version of Ghostblade minus the active. Not much to say about this item other then that it's very solid on Wukong and that you should get it every game no matter what. The added bonus to this is that if you are feeling squishy early on in the game you can buy a 1028_32.png and later on combine it into a cleaver.

3153_64.png : The best overall damage item

  • Builds out of 3144_32.pnga core early game item for Wukong
  • With the 3142_32.png3071_32.png3035_32.pngbuild the active will deal 15% maximum health in truedamage
  • Active 15% nuke is also a heal helping you stay alive in fights (because the damage is physical it will heal for a LOT if used on a high health target)
  • Passive 5% current health on auto attack will be done in truedamage with the penetration build in most cases
  • Passive has direct synergy with 3142_32.pngand your E + lifesteal
  • Makes your auto attacks hit like a truck after you use your ult keeping you a very high threat even after your ult is used in a fight
  • Turns tanks into squishies
  • Active, 3142_32.png, your E and ult movement speed give you unparalleled mobility in fights
  • Active can be used to escape or chase, nuke tanks for massive damage and heal, help total squishies in the blink of a eye with your full combo
  • 60 sec cooldown is reduced to 51 sec with 2/2 utility artificer
The power of the blade cannot be denied, it's simply too good to pass up on Wukong. I tried using 3072_32.png instead, even 3074_32.png but the blade is simply too strong.. too versatile. First off the active helps you absolutely crush whatever target you want dead with your full combo, they will take a 15% truedamage nuke, be slowed and then knocked up after inside massive damage it doesn't matter if it's a tank or squishy it's going to die end of story. The main attraction is by far the active for sure since it's a massive nuke to combine with your E Q R combo but it also heals you for the same 15% damage too meaning you can save it to give you a big health boost in some situations or just outright win duels that would be close otherwise. Okay so you just used your full combo to kill someone, but there are 2-4 people left and your team needs you to finish up or outright kill them yourself. This is where the passive 5% current health on hit effect comes into play, with that and your E + 3142_32.png you can outright rip trough whatever is standing against you with almost no problems because the damage you will be putting out is absolutely insane. This item has amazing synergy with Wukong at all stages of the game, it gives you a 15% nuke when you want to combo all in something and 5% on hit effect when you are auto attacking the survivors down. This item is simply irreplaceable for what it does even if it provides a lot of attackspeed and low amount of ad. Riot keeps nerfing this item for a reason, it's just too good.

3153_32.png vs 3072_32.pngvs 3074_32.png:

After having tried all 3 items I can say with full confidence that 3153_32.png is superior in all cases. The raw utility and damage increase this item provides during a all-in combo and auto attack phase is simply too high. While 3072_32.png is a very good item on Wukong it takes too long to stack up and must be maintained after death unlike BotrK that you just buy and use when needed with no power loss. BT is also really expensive and the gap between when you get it and when it reaches it's peak damage is just too long for my taste. After having tried 3074_32.png a lot I simply can't find myself ever buying this unless I am doing some really planned out splitpush tactic. It's simply too awkward to use on a champion like Wukong who has really low cooldowns and is constantly casting either his Q or E. The active cannot be used during your ult which I think is a MAJOR downside as it's the only time you can really safely cast it without it having a chance to screw up your Q animation or something similar. Wukong already has two aoe wave clear spells and generally has absolutely no problem with both waveclearing and dealing aoe damage in teamfights making this item mostly pointless.

Verdict : Always get 3153_32.png

3035_64.png : The best lategame item

  • Completely removes armor as a statistic when combined with 3142_32.png3071_32.png
  • Makes even the strongest tanks into squishies
  • Completely counters armor stacking
This is a very straight forward item : No armor allowed. The first reaction a lot of people have when they see a Wukong snowballing is that they get armor, the whole point of the build is that you keep countering the armor stacking in steps with 3142_32.png then 3071_32.png and finally 3035_32.png. When you get last whisper you can freely kill anyone with your all in combo no matter what champion you target as you will be dealing massive truedamage. With this tanklines don't really exist so if jumping on the enemy squishes is too dangerous for whatever reason just chuckle and kill the tanks in front instead. Once you get this item the game starts to get really fun because your 480% scaling ult starts doing 3k damage to everyone if you spin near them for the full duration.

Situational items

3156_64.png : Best overall magic protection item

  • Provides offense and defense at the same time
  • Builds out of 3155_32.pnga great early game counter item
  • Shield keeps you alive against magic damage in teamfights
  • Provides a MASSIVE 95 ad when the shield procs
  • Is gold efficient even without its passives
  • Is the most under rated magic resistance offense item in the game
Maw is seriously amazing, it was godlike before the small buffs it got but now it's simply elder god tier. The massive damage buff, magical defense and life-saving shield this thing provides combine into one item I find myself buying every time I get the chance. If I see a mage I think will be a threat to me I'll get this without thinking twice, hell sometimes I get it just because it's so damn good. This item makes double ap worthless against you, mages can't touch you in fights if you have this. The magic resistance combined with your passive will make magic damage do nothing unless they get a voidstaff and that will usually take quite some time. If you need magic resistance at all then always get this. I will go over when you should get this in the match ups section.

3139_64.png : Best specialist magic resist item

  • Provides you with a cleanse that removes all negative debuffs off you
  • Gives a 50% movement speed buff for 1 sec after you use the active helping you escape a tight spot
  • 90 sec cooldown is reduced to 76 sec with 2/2 utility artificer
  • Extremely strong against powerful single target stuns of some specific ultimates
This is what you get when you know for sure that in fights you will be targeted by that Lissandra ult or Mordekaiser combo, Vlad ulti etc. It's very good at what it does but is a bit expensive on the downside so you will probably have to sit on the 3140_32.png for a while until you get it done. I will go over when you should pick this over 3156_32.png in the matchups section (and when you should get both!).

3143_64.png : The best armor item

  • Makes you really tanky
  • Combines amazingly well with your ultimate for a AOE knockup + slow combo
  • Is very effective at shutting down auto attackers
  • Completely ruins ad carries if you get on them in a fight
  • Is overall one of the best items to get if you just need to tank up in fights
  • 60 sec active cooldown is 51 sec with 2/2 utility artificer
Randuin's has always been a very iconic item for Wukong as the uses this has with his go in and cause chaos play style are obvious. While I don't get this much if at all these days it's still very good at what it does, you jump in, use the active and just ruin the enemy ad carries day. It gives you a good slow on top of your knock up to completely remove any chance of the target getting away from your ult. Active aside it gives you a massive health and armor boost to pretty much make any attack damage based aggression tickle instead. While it's been nerfed repeatedly over the years it's still a very good item and def worth a slot if you want protection from physical damage. I'll go over when you want to get this item in the matchups section as it's really niche in most cases.

3026_64.png : Best overall focus protection item

  • The best item to get if you are being focused super hard in fights
  • Stops your ult when the revive starts
  • Really good for stalling decoy cooldown
  • Is usually sold after the passive is used
Getting absolutely 100% 5 man focused in teamfights because you are the only person doing anything on your team? Get this and make them regret it while your team cleans up. Very straight forward item that also opens up the option of dealing as much damage as possible until you drop into the revive. It's a really good choice when you know you will get all hands on deck aimed to deal with you the moment you initiate on the enemy squishies. Allows you to stay in the fight as long as possible doing the most damage you can before you go into revive > decoy out mode. I usually sell this for another item once it's used as the armor and magic resist it provides are pretty mediocre compared to other stuff you could have in that slot.  If you are new to Wukong then I highly recommend buying this as a 6th item every game as it gives you a 2nd life as you learn how to initiate into fights properly without being punished too much for it.

3141_64.png : Best snowball item

  • Has the highest potential of any damage item if you get it early
  • Effectively gives you 400 bonus gold on top of the kill bounty in bonus ad when you kill someone
  • Is cost efficient at only 4 stacks
  • Can have a 5750 gold value at max stacks
  • Not that risky on a slippery champion like Wukong
I really like Soto on Wukong because his main job every game is to instantly kill or remove 1-3 people out of a fight and then retreat. He is naturally a very good roamer and has very strong evasive capeabilities in the from of his decoy being a very low 6 sec cooldown with 40% CDR. You should rarely die and usually kill up to 10+ people every game if you play him right making this item a very attractive choice. Some people say it creates bad habits but I disagree because Wukong just kills things outright all by himself instead of ksing or whatever else meaning you just gain bonus damage to kill things even better in the future. Wukongs all in combo is usually always enough to get you 2-5 stacks every teamfight and I find myself ending most of my Diamond 1 games with 20 stacks. Soto also has the added benefit of snowballing you out of complete control over just 1 bad dragon or teamfight. This can be extremely valuable when you are fighting a superior lategame team as  Wukongs early-mid game damage with items is absurd. If you are going against a really squishy team you know you can kill repeatedly and hypercarry against then I highly recommend getting this early on.

3209_64.png : Best jungle item to rush

  • Makes jungling easy and fast
  • Builds out of 1080_32.pnga item we get instead of 2041_32.pngto keep our mana problems in check
  • Gives you a massive damage increase early on
If you are jungling Wukong this is the first item you will rush. It provides you with better jungle clears, damage and a handy truedamage burn on your abilities. The CDR is nice too along with the mana regen that will help keep you full of mana because we don't get flask on jungle Wukong. Now you might ask why we get this over 3207_32.png and the answer is pretty simple : You don't need the defense the ancient golem stone provides. Your job is to come out of nowhere and deal super high damage forcing flashes or killing people. Wukong is not a frontline cc / utility tank so leave that stuff to Rammus or Naut.

3083_64.png : Best raw health item

  • Provides you with a huge chunk of health and regen
  • Good for when you just need pure health to survive burst damage
  • Helps keep you healthy in the fight
  • Is gold efficient at its base values
Warmogsis what you get when you need just pure, good-ol fashioned health and know you have enough in terms of resistances from your base and passive or other items. I rarely get this but when I do it's mostly for the intimidation value : people seriously lose hope when you come crushing down with 3k health and 5 damage items. This is a good choice against burst champions that just dump their load and can't do anything else after.

Items you should avoid

3022_64.png The old mallet

If you need to slow someone then simply use your 3153_32.png, if you are getting kited as Wukong you are doing something seriously wrong. Mallet is not a bad item but it has no use on Wukong right now.

3025_64.png The useless fist

Same as mallet, if you need a slow use your BotrK active. The spellblade effect is not worth paying so much for and the ap is worthless. Over all a very expensive gimmick item that's not even that good on Wukong. You get CDR from other items, the armor is nice but not worth it. Don't get this.

3004_64.png You don't have THAT many mana problems

I tested this a lot and it's really nice but the slot is just better used for other items. If you are having mana problems then simply buy a 2041_32.png.

3068_64.png RIP capestacking

If you need armor you buy a 3143_32.png otherwise you don't bother. I really like the idea of a spinning flaming monkey but it's too expensive to fit in our build and the damage is pretty insignificant. Wukong is also not that great top lane and needs AD to deal damage unlike bruisers like Shen or Zac so just leave this to those.

3087_64.png The zap baton

If this gave damage it would be okay but it doesn't so leave this to the right clickers.

3075_64.png Stop hitting yourself

Wukong does not have high enough health to make use of this sadly. I really like the concept behind this item but you can't really make it work on Wukong.

3031_64.png "I'm going to beat your ass and get away with it"

If you are having a fun game where you are absurdly fed then go right ahead and get this for hilarious 1.5k Q crits otherwise it's a pretty big waste of money. This can possibly work on a auto attack focused Wukong build but I have yet to test that extensively.

3131_64.png I liked it more when it had the armor pen

I really wanted to make this work because the theory was strong but it just too awkward and has no real place just like 3074_32.png. You already do insane burst when you jump on people and after you usually don't need the active of this to do it again.  I might test this more sometime and find a place for it but for now it's a fun "screw around" item.

3110_64.png

This is a very good item but it's counterproductive in high elo games because the aura can give away your position when you are stealthing up or in a bush waiting to ambush someone. I really like the stats this gives and might find a place for it down the line but for now I don't see myself building it. Maybe in the future this will be a replacement for 3143_32.png we will see.

1001_64.png Boots and why you should always get 3275_32.png

  • 3047_32.png : Auto attackers giving you trouble? In lane : Get a 1054_32.png. In teamfights : Get a 3143_32.png.
  • 3009_32.png : Getting kited? Learn to play Wukong better.
  • 3111_32.png : Need CC reduction? Play better or get a situational defense item.
  • 3006_32.png : NO.
  • 3117_32.png : These are okay in some very rare situations but overall you just don't need them.

Pending for test / future potential

3078_64.png le tons of damage

Trinity is a very promising item that might be future core or situational depending on how the new items that are coming alone turn out. It had everything you want really, I just need to see where I'm going to fit this. PLEASE DON'T RUSH THIS ITEM!

3210_64.png w h o a

If this comes out as strong as it is on PBE it might be future situational item next to 3156_32.png and 3139_32.png.

3123_64.png mite b cool

I'm trying to test if this has it's uses in some matchups.

3102_64.png very specific counter item

If the reworks is good enough this might be a nice alternative to 3139_32.png.

Aatrox

Medium

  • Harass him hard with AA>Q at level 1
  • Win lane early or don't bother fighting him at all
  • Dodge his blades of torment as most Aatrox's max that first
  • Ignore him in teamfights or peel him off your backline if hes fed

Lane difficulty : Medium
Teamfight difficulty : Easy / Medium
General lane strategy : Hyper aggression / Zoning / CS denial / Outscale
General teamfight strategy : Ignore or peel off backline with ult

Summoners : 14.png4.png

Runes : AD quints, AD red, armory yellow, flat or scaling mr

Masteries : 21/0/9

Skill order : Q>E>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 1054_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Put your ward down and start harassing Aatrox with Q's while csing, depending on his health and minions E him at 2 and auto attack. Either way make sure you constantly keep punching him so he has to burn his potions and is hesitant on auto attacking minions with his W on sustain mode. The goal here is to make him scared of auto attacking minions so he loses cs and is in the best case scenario forced to go back while you pull ahead. If you can establish early lane control you can make him a free kill every time your cooldowns are up past 6 even with his passive up as he will not be able to survive your massive damage with his weak early game base stats. If you fail and he gains lane control then simply farm hard and wait for teamfights to start, you outperform him greatly with your raw teamfight presence so you should not be too worried.

In teamfights :

Even if Aatrox comes out of the laning phase with good farm he is still fairly mediocre compared to you in all aspects. If he is not too fed simply dive his back line and mop him up with your team when his ad carry / ap is dead. If he is turbo-fed then simply wait for him to jump your back line and ult peel him off. As he depends purely on his auto attack to deal most of his damage a simple knock up is enough to screw him over completely. If he is pretty much the only person doing anything on the enemy team consider investing in a 3143_32.png.

Verdict :

Aatrox is a strong laner but he can be kept on a leash if you play it right, you do much better then him in teamfights either way.

VS

Ahri

Hard

  • Use decoy to eat her foxfire and block charms
  • Dodge her orb as best as you can
  • Focus on farming in lane
  • Only try to kill her when her ult is down or she makes a big mistake
  • Ahri is too slippery for you to focus down in teamfights so go for her team mates instead

Lane difficulty : Hard
Teamfight difficulty : Easy / Hard
General lane strategy : Farm as hard as possible / Ask for ganks / Utilize decoy
General teamfight strategy : Ignore her or try to catch her off guard

Summoners : 14.png4.png

Masteries : 9/9/12

Skill order : E>Q>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 1053_32.png > 3155_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Ahri is a very difficult lane for Wukong as she can simply beat you by pressing W every time you come close. To make things works you can't catch her for a kill past 6 in most cases and she can chase you down with her ult if you make a mistake resulting in a kill for her in most scenarios. A good Ahri will simply farm and poke you with her ranged auto attack and quickly charm you when you E on her and unload her full damage. The best idea in this lane is to stay behind minions and just farm, she will push you and roam but there is not much you can do about that. Ward your sides and ping every time she's missing, if you can farm up your items without getting killed by her you can usually do more then her in teamfights by killing the carries or mid-lategame 100% bursting her before she can react during a siege. Be sure to take note when she uses her ulti and use that time to try and kill her. Outplaying her is very important here if you want to win lane, quick decoy reflexes are a must. E on her and immediately decoy, walk to the sides and wait a little bit to see what she does : if she goes running forward chasing you do a aa>Q combo and try to dodge her Q. Remember that your decoy eats her W so its extremely important that you use decoy the best you can in this matchup, try to make it eat charm and W. If you can get both of those things then you can win most trades, however a good Ahri will rush a 3191_32.png and play safe when below 70% health along with using her passive to heal half her health bar so you will probably not get to kill her at all during laning phase unless she faceplants super hard. You can also try going for a all-in red pot super cheese level 2 but that's really risky.

In teamfights :

If you get your major damage items you can try killing her before she can react but this can only work if you have massive damage and the Ahri went for some 3128_32.png or other glass cannon shit. If she has 3157_32.png then simply ignore her and target her other team mates. A fed Ahri can ruin your backline really hard and there is not much you can do as her insane mobility will usually get her out of any trouble you might put her in with your ult if you try to peel. Hope that you can do more then her or your team is better, shes very hard to kill for you if shes paying any attention.

Verdict :

Ahri is a very strong pick against Wukong, in lane she should never die if she knows what she is doing. It's going to be all about who makes more mistakes and who does better in teamfights. Don't pick Wukong into this lane if you can, if you have to face her then farm super hard and try to make plays elsewhere. If your jungler has hard cc then ask for help and keep her playing defensive, you start losing when she starts throwing her stuff at you in lane to harass as most of it hits super and stepping into even one charm can result in you getting killed.

In lane :

Akali can either be a pushover or a pretty hard opponent to fight pre 5. Past 6 she can either fail badly or dominate you outright and make the lane seriously unsafe for you to exist in. In general it's going to be all about how well you can utilize your Q poke and how well you can avoid her triggering her Q mark on you. All of Akali's damage is in her Q, if she can't trigger that then you are fine. Drop your pink ward the moment you see her shroud go down as you want to have vision of her at all times, this is extremely important as if you let her farm / sustain up in her shroud you will be in a lot of trouble. If you play it right she will be forced to hang back and last hit with Q, use this time to farm hard and keep her on her toes as you E Q if she tires to grab more then 1 minion at the same time. Quickly get your hexdrinker and get read for her to try and go all out on you past 6 with her ult. If you see her holding on to more then 1 ult charge then shes trying to store all 3 and kill you soon. Poke her hard and be very careful about your decoy usage past 6, if you use it too soon you will be defenseless when she goes all out so try to hold on it until she starts her full damage on you then decoy and waste time so she cant trigger too many Q's on you. In general if you are the same level and you have 3155_32.png + 1053_32.png you will be able to kill her if you use all your abilities along with ignite. Be sure to flash after her with ult when she tries to escape drop a pink ward on her if she tries to hide. Your ult hits her inside her shroud, if you don't have a pink then spin in a small circle near the middle point of the shroud as your ult will hit her if shes on the edges. If she gets ahead of you then you are in serious trouble outside your tower, play safe and use decoy wisely to escape her aggression. If she dives you ult and ignite her. Be wary of her R jukes when chasing her down as she can get out of some situations quite easily by dashing to a minion right on the edge of it.

In teamfights :

If Akali is doing well consider focusing her down first, stealth up E Q R and drop a 2043_32.png when she shrouds instinctively. She is fairly squishy most times so she should die to your full damage rotation before inflicting any serious harm on your backline. If she's smart and has a 3157_32.png ignore her and go for her ad / ap carries and hope your team can deal with her long enough for you to do your job. Sometimes it's best to simply wait for her to jump on your backline and ult peel her off while dropping a 2043_32.png on her shroud when she comes flying down form the knock up. Unless shes turbo fed you can usually deal with her yourself just fine.

Verdict :

Akali is a strong assassin that can be quite hard to deal with in lane because of her retarded low Q cooldown but if you play smart you should come out slightly ahead or even. If she tries to fight you in melee mode punish her very hard with your full combo. In general if you get a kill or two on her she can't come back without you making a big mistake first. She's not a threat to you or your team in teamfights if you decide to focus her.

VS

Alistar

Easy

Alistar is a fairly easy support to deal with. If he tries to headbutt you away from his carry or team mate while you are ulting he will get knocked up instead. His stun can cause you some trouble but in most cases you will kill your target before he can do anything. His ult can make him hard to take down but my experience is that if its mid or late game and you have 3-6 items his ult makes no difference.

Be careful when ganking his lane because his W Q combo can burst and cc you for surprising amounts of damage early game.

Verdict :

Alistar is usually powerless to stop you, be careful near his tower at early levels.

VS

Amumu

Easy

Amumu can totally ruin your game or be irrelevant depending on how smart you are. His early ganks are strong with bandage toss but if you have ward coverage you can just block it with decoy.

There are two things you can do in teamfights against him : Either don't clump with your team and kill his backline when he initiates or just buy a 3139_32.png somewhere down the road and cleanse his ult off. If he's really fed and crushing your team consider investing in a early 3140_32.png and peeling him off with ult.

If you are jungling against him consider invading because he is pretty weak early on, make sure you decoy his stun and you will win a 1v1 every time.

Verdict :

Buying smart and playing smart will usually nullify Amumu as a factor to how well you do in a game. Counter initiation on his backline flushes his viability really hard.

VS

Anivia

Easy

  • Dodge her Q at all costs
  • Even if you get hit by her Q decoy as it's about to connect so she wastes her E on your clone

  • Go for early kills
  • All in her past 6 every time your cooldowns are up
  • Focus her in teamfights

Skill order : E>Q>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Anivia is complete rubbish against Wukong if you play right. She's really weak against things that can jump on her and deal high amounts of damage : so basically Wukong. The most important thing here is to dodge her Q, everything else makes 0 difference. The trick to it is to either do fancy footwork and quickly dodge it as you land on her with E or just decoy immediately after landing and laugh as she E's it. Either way your damage is so high she will lose all her health after two trades usually, if you can make a powerplay at level 2 and egg her outside tower you will first blood for sure. She's really squishy even if she gets a cloth armor, simply play aggressive and dodge her Q's. If you somehow don't kill her pre 6 don't worry every Anivia is extremely predictable and easy to kill at all stages of the game. Simply farm up your 3144_32.png3134_32.png go around a corner or a bush and wait for her to stroll up and R the wave. Ideally you want to stealth up to her as shes coming up to the wave to R it, then all in combo her and she will be in egg form before the knockup ends resulting in a free kill and fresh blue buff for you. She should never kill you in lane if you play decent. Even if she does get ahead and kill you a few times it really makes no difference because your damage will be so high with just a brutalizer that you will be able to all in her and get a kill regardless if you are behind or not.

In teamfights :

Anivia is a zone control champion that depends on kiting, walling off people and dominating jungle fights. Wukong says "No." to all of that and just jumps on her with his massive damage resulting in a kill every time. There is not much else to it, she's a extremely fragile mage even with a rod and hourglass so use that and kill her every fight as she is quite a powerful backline champion if you can't get to her. However if you crushed her in lane then focus on her ad carry or other lane in the fight then come kill her after. It's important that you dodge her stun as it's the only thing that she can do to hamper your efforts in any way, you can jump over her wall with your dash and it's generally impossible for her to kite you after 40% cdr. If she's really fed for some reason just get a 3156_32.png.

Verdict :

Anivia is a very fragile zone control mage that gets completely ruined by Wukong in both lane and teamfights. She can be very frustrating to deal with if the player behind her is very good but in most cases she's a free snack every time. Even if the Anivia player is good Wukong can just brute force his way to killing her with his all in combo because the damage is just too high for her to handle. The only way she can survive against you is if everything is pink warded and shes hanging back real hard.

VS

Annie

Hard

  • Trade as hard as you can during levels 1-2
  • Try to bait out her shield before you go all in
  • Try not to eat too many stun Q+W combos
  • If she is abusing her ranged auto attack a lot get a 1054_32.png
  • Try to bait her full combo on your decoy
  • 3155_32.png is a must rush against her
  • Focus or ignore her in teamfights

Lane difficulty : Hard
Teamfight difficulty : Easy / Hard

Skill order : E>Q>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 1053_32.png > 3155_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Annie is a hard mage to deal with mainly because of her stun. A good Annie player will utilize her really long range auto attacks and stun safety to free farm or harass you and then drop a full combo at 6 for a kill. Because her full combo at 6 is so strong it's extremely important that you don't get caught by it under 90% health or you will die even if you decoy. Beating Annie is going to come down to either playing super aggressive at level 1-3 or farming and killing her in teamfights. Because of her molten shield shes deceptively tanky and auto attacking her during that is a very bad idea as it counts as buffed up thornmail. If you want to beat Annie early on pre 4 you need to E on her the moment she comes into lane and trade hard. Most Annies will start with W and charge it up in the fountain but just landing the first E is enough. Then keep jumping on her with E and at level 2 Q as well. If you do this right she will assume a defensive stance and not try to constantly poke you with auto attacks and spells. Farm and look for openings, if shes holding on her stun there is not much you can do as a well timed one will fully interrupt your E and cause it to deal no damage. Quickly rush out sustain and a hexdrinker. Past 6 be very careful around her if she has her stun up or is randomly missing. A good Annie will try to all in combo you whenever possible, good reflexes can save you super hard in this situation. I have decoyed perfectly from a Annie combo before only eating the tibbers damage in the process as she dumped everything on my cuddly clone. If the Annie you are fighting is bad or inexperienced you can easily get away with E Q > W if you are fast enough and watch her W Q the clone. In general you can't beat a good Annie in lane if she plays smart, you are forced to farm and outperform her in teamfights.

In teamfights :

Annie can win a game all by herself if she lands a good multi champion tibbers stun on a pack of squishies. Always be wary of where she is and tell your team to spread out during sieges, camping behind a corner and waiting for her to flash tibbers someone on your team and then counter initiating is usually a good idea. If you are looking to kill her then simply wait for a opening and go all in. Be careful though as Annie is deceptively tanky with a 3027_32.png3157_32.png build + her E. If you have enough items it will not matter. Be sure to decoy as her zhonia active ends to avoid her counter stunning you and getting away or outright killing you. 3139_32.png and 3156_32.png are both very good items to get against her.

Verdict :

Annie is a somewhat underestimated mage that can be very hard to lane against. You can't really kill a good Annie unless she makes a serious mistake or you outplay her. If both Wukong and Annie are on equal grounds in terms of farms and items whoever strikes first wins. It's extremely important to cancel ult early in this case and use decoy to eat her return fire. If done right you will burst her, have decoy eat the counter attack and then finish the job. Be very careful around her in lane past 6.

VS

Ashe

Easy

Ashe is a complete joke for Wukong in pretty much every situation. A fragile ad carry that depends entirely on kiting bruisers she can't keep Wukong off her at all because of his low cooldown dash, knock up and billion movement speed buffs that simply overpower her slows. Be sure to spin behind her as you ult to avoid the reflex arrow to the face.

Decoy blocks her arrow so if you are behind as a team against her always stand in front and quickly eat it with decoy when she tries to initiate. In fights simply jump on her and unleash your full damage. If shes really fed then focus her harder or invest in a 3143_32.png.

Verdict :

Ashe is powerless to stop you from killing her if you catch her in a full combo, if she catches you at distance you might be in trouble.

VS

Blitzcrank

Easy

Blitzcrank is completely powerless against Wukong as a support, he has two real cc's : his melee range knock up and grab. If Blitzcrank is walking up to you to apply his cc then he's probably not coming back. Grab is blockable by decoy for hilarious results and if he grabs a spinning Wukong he's probably going to regret it real hard mid-lategame.

If you jump on his ad / ap he can't really peel you off without getting kill himself.

Verdict :

Blitzcrank is a ineffective peeler that can randomly get you killed with a grab if you don't keep map vision up. Use your ult speed to stay mobile and avoid him from grabbing you off the ad / ap carry.

VS

Brand

Easy

  • Dodge or block his Q with decoy
  • Try to go for early kills
  • All in him every time your cooldowns are up
  • Use decoy stealth to prevent his ult from bouncing on you
  • Focus him in teamfights

Lane difficulty : Easy
Teamfight difficulty : Easy
General lane strategy : Hyper aggression / Kill lane
General teamfight strategy : Focus for free money

Summoners : 14.png4.png

Skill order : E>Q>E>W>E>R

Rush items : 3155_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Brand is a REALLY squishy mage that depends entire on landing his skillshot stun to control you. So it's pretty much all about not getting hit by his stun, if you can do that then you will absolutely dominate him early on and get free kills every time your ult is up. The most important thing here is to quickly latch on him when he walks into lane at level 1 and take advantage of him not having his W / E > Q combo. His base stats are really so if you can jump on him with E and auto attack a few times you will usually be able to set up a level 2 kill quite easily as he will be forced to either stay back and miss last hits or put himself in danger and potentially die. Once he has his stun simply dodge to the sides when you E on him and continue as normal, you will usually get first blood before 6 and be quite farmed / fed when he unlocks his full damage combo so he should not be a threat to you when he hits 6. Remember that past 3-4 you can block his Q with decoy and that his ult can't hit stealthed champions meaning that if he catches you and unloads his full damage just decoy and either go on him or retreat. His W does a lot of damage if he combines it with his E so be sure not to stay in his W range when he randomly E's you because hes looking to W (it will deal 25% more damage or something like that). Overall you should be able to easily farm him for kills the entire game.

In teamfights :

Brands damage can be pretty RNG and he can either do nothing or blow half your team up instantly at a moments notice. You can easily focus fire him for free kills with your all in combo or go for his backline ignoring him completely. Your high mobility should let you easily dodge his Q and thus avoid pretty much all his damage. If he ults you, just decoy and watch it fly off to a creep or disappear. Even if with a 3157_32.png or 3027_32.png he is really squishy so you should never have problems dealing with.

Verdict :

Brand is a extremely squishy mage who has virtually no chance against Wukong if he does not land his Q. It's a good idea to buy 3141_32.png against him as you will be able to get free kills every time your ult is off cooldown.

VS

Caitlyn

Easy

Caits main advantage over other carries is that she has much higher auto attack range, this means pretty much nothing to Wukong. It's important to spin behind her as you knock her up so she has less distance from you when she nets away in despair towards her team or away from you. A good Cait will stand on a snap-trap but it makes no real difference because your knock up time lasts as long as her trap root so you will be able to move when she does anyway.

For added hilarity your decoy blocks her ult so be sure to laugh it up as she does her cute ult poke ordeal during sieges and ends up doing 0 damage because it hit your cuddly clone instead.

Solo lane Cait :

If you are facing a Cait mid or top then simply jump on her every chance you get, even if she stands on traps you can just E aa Q her and it will usually out trade anything she has to offer back to you. At 6 you can probably all in kill her if you harassed a bit before hand. Try not to eat too many headshots from her and you will be fine, 1054_32.png is a great item to get in this situation and your first item should be 3144_32.png as it will provide you with enough sustain to ignore her harass.

Verdict :

Caits range is nullified by a all in combo and her trap wall will usually not stop you from finishing the job.

Cassiopeia

Easy

  • Decoy when you are poisoned to prevent E spam

  • All in her every time your cooldowns are up past 6
  • Spin around her in random patterns after ult knock up to dodge her ult
  • Focus her in teamfights

Rush items : 1053_32.png > 3155_32.png > 3134_32.png > 3144_32.png

In lane :

Cassiopea can be a very volatile matchup depending on how many Q's and E's you eat. Her poison damage is deceptively strong and a wrong step can get you gunned down by a bunch of E's and ignite. This matchup is pretty much all about being aggressive early on and knowing when to decoy. If you get hit by poison it's a clear sign you should decoy immediately as her E resets its cooldown if she hits you with it while you are poisoned. If you control how much damage you take back when you trade with her you can easily kill her pre 6 often times more then once. Past 6 you need to be careful not to get hit by her ult in the face, a easy way to avoid this is to play with her nerves. Walk towards her, stop randomly and watch how she reacts. I have actually gotten a few Cassiopeas to ult nothing this way it's a pretty hilarious sight to behold. If you actually do get ulted in the face when you try to decoy E Q combo her then you in a lot of trabbel my friend. That's when her damage reaches its apex as she will have two poisons ticking on you and constant E's hitting your face. If you have hexdrinker when this happens you should survive as all her damage is purely magical, if not you will most likely die. Try to catch her by surprise with a full combo and remember to spin past her just as she comes flying down to avoid her stunning you. Overall a easy matchup for Wukong.

In teamfights :

Cassiopea is a squishy mage that's a free kill for you every time you have your full set of cooldowns on stand-by. Simply decoy up to her E Q R and ignite. In 90% of cases she will die before she can do anything resulting in a instant 4v5. It's usually not a good idea to initiate on her backline as she will ult your whole team with her massive stun as counter initiation leaving you stranded. Shes too dangerous to leave alone in fights and as of so you must take her out first in almost all cases. Even if she builds 3027_32.png and 3157_32.png she will die instantly anyway so dump everything you have on her and go from there. If you are taking way too many of her ults to your face for whatever reason consider a early 3140_32.png into 3139_32.png.

Verdict :

Cassiopea is a very squishy mage that depends entirely on landing her poison and a bunch of E's to stay even with you in lane. Simply dodging her Q's and playing smart will easily earn you kills or free farm against her. She is a good champion to buy a 3141_32.png against as you can get free stacks every time your cooldowns are up.

Cho'Gath

Easy

  • Try to kill him early on
  • If he is too tanky just farm
  • Avoid his full combo if he is AP
  • Focus in teamfights if AP, ignore if tank

Lane difficulty : Easy

Skill order : Q>E>E>W>E>R

Rush items : 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Chogath is a really ignorable laner that can't do much against you unless you stand there and auto attack him and eat both his aoe spells. While his damage output is fairly low you should not underestimate it as he can flat out kill you at level 6 with his full combo if he is ap mid. In general you want to either focus on trading super hard with him and going for a kill early or ignoring him completely and farming. Cho is worthless in teamfights compared to you so even if he gets a kill or pushes you super hard and kills your team with a tp gank or whatever you will still do more then him in a full 5v5 situation. Farm hard or kill him the choice is yours. Be sure to stay mobile to avoid his Q and maybe W if you have the timing. He has very high sustain so make sure you don't let him last hit creeps after you trade or he will get all his health back in 2 last hits or something crazy like that. Past 6 be really careful of his Q W ignite R combo if he has ap items as it can crush you and not even a hexdrinker will help as its two truedamage sources. In most cases if you play smart he can't do anything to you, he is really easy to gank so be sure to call your jungler over if he pushes for free kills.

In teamfights :

Cho is very mediocre in teamfights compare to you so bank of that if you did poorly against him in lane. If he is ap you should look to all in him with your teams assistance to remove his double truedamage threat. If he went full tanky utility build just ignore him and kill everyone else first. Chogath is really tanky in nature and most buy a 3027_32.png + 3157_32.png meaning he will be even harder to take down. If you are behind and don't have a lot of your core complete consider diving his backline for kills instead. If you do go on him in a teamfight be sure to stay aware of his Q and decoy immediately as he will most likely follow it with a instant W and feast. If he feasts your clone the fight is pretty much won because it's his most damaging and important spell by far. The most important aspect of playing against a Cho is avoiding his silence because it's a really long retarded duration for whatever reason for Wukong this is pretty much a death sentence.

Verdict :

Cho if played as AP can offer surprising burst that will catch most novice players and Wukongs off guard. In lane you need to make the choice of either trying to kill him or farming hard as it's not really possible to do both against his sustain. Look to outdo him in teamfights and avoid his CC.

VS

Corki

Easy

The trick to killing Corki is to jump on him as usual and keep your finger on the R key, as he starts his W animation ult and he will get knocked out of it leaving him for dead right next to you with his W on cooldown or forced to flash. Then simply flash after him or catch up and finish the job.

Your decoy blocks his missles but big ones usually splash hard enough to hit you even if you block them, you can prep your decoy slightly in advance when running from him to act as a meat shield in most cases. His Q reveals you for a moderate duration revealing you if you stealth with the debuff on you so that can be a bit annoying to deal with, overall hes just another squishy ad carry you snack on.

Solo lane Corki :

I have seen Corki in mid and top a few times and it reeeeallllyy does not work against Wukong because his health is super low and your trades are really painful. He can catch you off guard with his level 6 damage and Q revel though so be careful and don't get too cocky.

Verdict :

Corki is a super squishy ad carry that has nothing to combat Wukong with and falls in the natural food chain of being eaten every time he gets jumped on.

VS

Darius

Hard

  • Bait him to Q you inside your minion wave so he pushes
  • Focus entirely on farming
  • Use decoy to dodge his ult
  • Ignore him in teamfights and kill his team mates instead

Rush items : 1054_32.png > 1031_32.png > 1028_32.png >3144_32.png

In lane :

Darius is the hardest counter to Wukong there is and at first I was pretty much sure there is no way to beat him but there is a very simple solution : just let him beat you up early and farm. What this means is that you should simply stand in your minions and taunt him into Q'ing you resulting in him pushing the wave. When you are at your tower simply get as many last his as you can and stay high on health whenever possible. If he hooks you away E back on the minions and keep farming. Get early armor and health and look to make plays elsewhere as you will never beat Darius in a 1v1. Even if you decoy his ult he will most likely end up killing the decoy and getting the ult refresh off it allowing him to come smacking you with it. Even if you do somehow manage to kill him he can always just kill you anyway because his damage is absolutely retarded and all he has to do is build pure defense unlike you. Focus on farming and don't bother fighting him ever, if he pushes your tower down that's fine he's a horrible roamer and can't do shit in teamfights. Even if you die to him a few times it's okay as long as you are farming up your items.

In teamfights :

Darius really weak in teamfights because he has virtually no mobility. Take advantage of this and kill his backline every time. He is very easy to kite so your backline should never have problems keeping away from him while you do your job. If he hooks you off the backline just E right back on it or decoy and decide to leave or go on someone else. If he is really fed and your team can't deal with him then consider peeling him with your ult but be sure to decoy the moment he starts building stacks on you as you will only accelerate his pentakill with your death. Overall you should outperform him in teamfights every time.

Verdict :

Darius is the hardest lane counter to Wukong in the game, a good Darius will make Wukongs life in lane very difficult. Consider jungling if you get counterpicked by him or asking for swaps with your top / mid. Ask your jungler to help you or hold lane for you when you are being beaten too hard. Stay really safe and focus only on farming do not pick a fight with Darius ever because even if you get a kill on him and get ahead he can still just snap his fingers and kill you anyway.

In lane :

Fighting Diana effectively is all about hitting her at the right times. If you play poorly and smash her shield over and over she will easily beat you, if you play smart and bait out her shield or hit her during the brief period it's down you will find yourself dominating the lane pretty hard. Past 6 she can burst you down pretty hard if you make the mistake of getting his by her Q, lucky for you it's not a stealth detection spell so you can just W immediately and watch her slam into a decoy wasting her R cooldown. Immediately jump back on her and trade as hard as you can then back off, with a early hexdrinker you should win every 1v1 usually if you dodge some parts of her damage such as 1 ult charge or random Q. If she has barrier flash you can't really kill her and she can't really kill you in turn, focus on farming and getting enough damage to out damage her in a teamfight. This is a very big skill matchup that's determined by who makes more mistakes. You can usually outperform her in teamfights but that depends on how well you do your job.

In teamfights :

Diana is a really strong burst mage that can total someone in the blink of a eye. So you have to make the decision to either start a fight by initiation on her when shes out of position and killing her off, going for her back line and risking her killing your whole team in turn or peeling her off when she goes for your back line. Diana is really tanky and will usually not die to your damage alone so make sure you go in on her at the right time or she will get away. If you peel her off your back line she will usually never make it out of the knock up unless she uses hourglass to waste time. Either way shes a high priority target at all times unless you dumped on her in lane super hard then go for her teams squishies instead.

Verdict :

Success against Diana in lane is all about controlled damage at the right times, failure to do so will leave you oom and fighting a healthy (and scary) Diana. A skill matchup that depends on who plays better in trades.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Medium

Mundo can be a real piece of shit to deal with if he gets his items and tanks up as he will heal trough all your damage even with ignite on. It's usually best to ignore him and just go for his backline as he is powerless to stop you.

If you are jungling against him be careful his early game damage can be absurd because he gets around 100 give or take free ad from his E and deals high aoe magic damage with his W. He can be deceptively hard to kill below half hp and it's not uncommon for him to chunk you down with 200 damage auto attacks in 1v1's as hes almost dead.

It's not a good idea to all in him past 6 if he has his ult ready as he will usually not die unless you are fed and have ignite up.

Your decoy blocks his cleavers so try to use that to your advantage.

VS

Draven

Easy

Be careful when approaching him without stealth, his E fully interrupts your dash and will usually leave you eating axes soon after. He is the easiest ad carry to all in because he has nothing besides his flash to get away from you and no defensive skill outside his E that does nothing when you are on top of him.

If you are having a rough game and the enemy team has Draven it's usually a good idea to go kill him for free money as he will always die to your all in unless hes super fed and has barrier up then it might take a flash from you to finish the job.

Your decoy stops his ult so if you see him cast it at something and you are between the travel path use that to your advantage.

Verdict :

Draven is literally free gold every time you have your cooldowns up, league of draven indeed.

Elise

In lane :

Oh man we are hitting real hardcore no fun territory right here. Elise in my experience can be either fairly easy or incredibly impossible to beat in lane depending on how bad or good the player is. The major issue with her is that she has two % based nukes, high sustain, ranged harass, hard cc, a disjoint gapcloser.. wait maybe it's better to list stuff she does not have in her kit. Well anyway she's a major bag of shit to 1v1 and it's really hard to beat a good one or even lane actually. Against bad ones you E Q and decoy the stun, exploding spider and her spider Q they all do in a quick response. But good players will wait a bit and figure out its your decoy and just repeal on you and do the full combo anyway. You can in this situation E Q on her and then stop to pretend you decoyed and then decoy when she makes her move but the issue with doing this is that you are literally playing with fire like this because cacoon missile speed is super fast so if she randomly lets one out towards you then you can either TRY to dodge it and fail or get really lucky and have your decoy eat it. Either way trading with her ever is a hazardous endeavor for your health bar so you should usually avoid it all together. Focus mainly on farming up and getting your sustain item quickly to keep yourself health as she barrages you with neurotoxin and counts her says before nerfs. You can usually outperform her in teamfights but that largely depends on how good the Elise player is. A good Elise will take a dump on everything all by her self so you probably need to focus fire and take her out first before doing anything else.

In teamfights :

Elise is squishy no matter what she builds but the first problem of focusing her is that she usually has two invulnerability's in the from of her repel and 3157_32.png the second one being her ability to jump a full screen away to something if it happens to be in her range at that time. So catching her out is going to be the main thing, if you can burst her hard enough before she can react you will usually kill her and easily mop up her team, if you cannot get to her what so ever then go for her back line and hope your team can deal with her. She's a really good peeler with all her CC's so be careful about that cacoon into exploding spider combo if she is support.

Verdict :

Elise is very strong in lane, jungle and teamfights so either ban her or pray the player at the wheel is bad because you can't do shit to a good Elise no matter how hard you try.

In lane :

Eve generally has a really hard time against Wukong in lane because she is both melee and very squishy early on. She can still win if you eat too many hate spikes but in most cases you out damage anything she can throw at you at all times. Make sure you decoy her ravage as it has a really long cast animation and is easy to dodge with some practice. Try to punish Eve as hard as you can every time she goes in for CS after a few rounds of E Q you will usually be able to kill her for first blood or force her to back / idle at distance in stealth leeching xp. She is a fairly poor fighter before she gets her items so you should never really lose a 1v1 to her even after 6 when she gets her powerful ultimate. Be really careful about all-ining her as she has deceptively high mobility with her W and will simply run off in most cases at super sonic speeds leaving you just out of range to E on her even with your ult movement speed buff. If she roams to other lanes punish her by taking her tower down or follow and hopefully arrive in time to fix the situation. Overall a really easy matchup for Wuking if you find how many hate spikes you eat.

In teamfights :

Eve is a great teamfight champion but Wukong with equal or greater farm will do much more. She is essentially doomed if you dominate lane because you will be able to destroy her team and she can't stop you alone. If you have pink wards and spot her creeping up ahead of her team go all in on her but keep in mind that her W removes slows for save your cutlass / botrk active for when you hear her activate it. The active does not give her slow immunity so you can slow her immediately after she uses it to keep her from getting away. In general most Eve players will rush a 3157_32.png but all it will do is just stall time as you end up killing her the moment she comes out if it anyways. If she does win lane hard and gets really fed it's best to simply let someone else initiate and it on the side of your squishy backline waiting for her to come zooming to ult them. Simply counter initiate her and she will fall down quickly after, if you find her gunning for you instead just decoy and answer in kind she can't survive your full damage in most cases.

Verdict :

Eve does fairly poor against Wukong in lane due to her low early damage and Wukongs high resistances and trade potential. You should be able to dominate her in lane as long as you use decoy wisely to eat a few of her Q's and reflex E's. Don't count on all in killing her in most cases as shes very hard to catch unless you nail her with a perfect after W cutlass slow. In teamfights she really can't hold a candle to you if you beat her in lane.

VS

Ezreal

Medium

Ezreal can be a serious pain in the ass to take down due to his E but if you have enough damage you will usually not have a problem. If you are against blue ezreal don't chase him if he gets away from your initial combo as he will simply kite you with his frozen fist too hard.

Killing Ezreal is all about doing it instantly and not letting him get away, if he does manage to escape with low health immediately flash after him and latch right back on to finish the job. If you are fast enough you will usually kill him before he can create enough distance with his double flash. If he gets away consider going into a bush or behind a corner and waiting for him to rejoin the fight thinking he can stay outside of harms way and poke with q's to help his team.

Solo lane Ezreal :

Ezreal is a pretty good solo laner and can give you a lot of trouble if the player is good, trading with him at the right times is usually the best solution or simply rushing raw sustain and beating him just because you are a bruiser and he's not can work too. He's squishy no matter what so even if he forces you out of lane somehow keep farming and look to surprise him with your all in combo when hes a fair distance from his tower. If you manage to stay in E range when he double flashes away early on you can usually finish him off.

Verdict :

Ezreal's performance largely depends on the player whos behind him. In most cases you can easily all in him for a free kill if you have high enough damage but be ready to give chase with a counter flash if he tries to double flash away. In lane trade hard and keep him on his toes if you let him bully you too much you will fall behind fast and hard.

In lane :

Fiddle is one of the hardest counters to Wukong out there. You can't really kill a fiddle that plays correctly as you have no way to interrupt his drain pre 6 and at 6 he does more damage then you if he ults you in a 1v1. This lane is incredibly frustrating as he will freefarm and casually fear + drain you like a milkshake whenever he wants. All you can do is either focus on farming and ask for ganks or go in super hard at level 1 or 2. Fiddle is fairly squishy so you should be able to all in kill him at 2 if hes not careful but if he catches on your plan then there is nothing you can do, once drain gains rank 2 he outtrades and outlheals you completely. After that it only gets worse, your only hope is to farm up as hard as you can and catch him off guard with your full combo and hope it kills him before he draintanks it and chases you down. Lucky for us nobody plays middlesticks these days so we are safe from this horrible matchup.

In teamfights :

Teamfights will boil down to who initiates first, you or the fiddlesticks and make no mistake you are not intiating on his team you are initiating on HIM. You absolutely 100% need to remove fiddlesticks first or your team will get wiped off the map instantly when he comes storming in. You need to keep up good vision and you need to quickly catch him out of position on the side somewhere, if you see him channeling run like hell and hope he does not flash fear one of your priority team members. If you see him flashing after you immediately decoy and keep running until his ult wears off. Getting a 3139_32.png against him is absolutely mandatory because even a support fiddle will ruin your day with just 1 Q, you need to cleanse it and you need to cleanse it immediately.  If you are facing support fiddle then focus his squishy ad / ap carry obviously while keeping your finger on the cleanse button for that inevitable fear. Overall fiddlesticks is one of the scariest champions to face in a teamfight in this game because his ult rivals yours and in some cases surpasses it. If he gets a good ult off it's over for you, if you get a good ult off on him before he ults you just won the game.

Verdict :

Fiddlesticks is unbeatable in lane by Wukong if he plays right. You need to either level 2 all in him or farm hard and outplay him in teamfights. Either way it's a major game of chess where the first move ends the match usually. The saving grace is that lane fiddle is not popular at all so you should not worry about this match up too much until you see it in the loading screen, that's when you should panic and write a essay to your jungler about why ganking fiddle is a great idea.

In lane :

Fiora is a really fun lane for Wukong because you get to practice your mind games part of the champion. Beating her is REALLY simple, you just need to practice baiting out her parry and just waiting out her AS buff in decoy. If you do these two things she is completely helpless at fighting you. You deal more damage, faster and with lower cooldowns. Not to mention the hilarious sight of her ult dropping when you decoy during it. Overall you should never die to her in a 1v1 situation and should usually get a bunch of free kills in lane. She can seriously hurt you if you screw up so don't screw up. The best way to bait her W out is to prep Q and walk towards her with her champion selected you will glow orange and she will instinctively W as you are about to get in range most of the time then just wait a bit and slam her with your Q and E after if you hear her active burst of speed immediately decoy and wait it out and go right back on her after. Past 6 she is a free kill for you as her base stats are quite low and she has no defensive abilities other then trying to kill you and failing because you have the hardest counter to her ultimate. I have seen some good Fioras kick ass in the past and shes a scary champion when played well in lane but I still think it's not possible for Wukong to lose this lane if you know what you are doing. Even if you do lose you can always do better in teamfights.

In teamfights :

Fiora is really weak outside small skirmishes so simply do your job and she will stop existing automatically. I don't think it's possible for anyone to get killed by her in a actual game so your team will be fine while you kill her ad carry / ap / support etc. Then just come mop her up if shes still alive for some reason. Remember that your decoy eats her ult attacks if she ults someone besides you so make sure you use that to soften her damage considerably. Overall shes a weak laner and a weak teamfighter against you so you should not have problems ever.

Verdict :

Fiora does really poorly against Wukong in lane and if killed repeatedly there will do nothing in teamfights as well. If she stays in lane and keeps splitpushing simply go up there and collect your free kill whenever you feel like it. Once you get on her she can't get you off because you can actually outright force her off you with your decoy if she tries to ult when you ult. So it's a good idea to hold on to your decoy and ult after she has ulted for guaranteed damage. If you see a extended laning phase happening against her I recommend getting a 3141_32.png and farming her for stacks every ult cooldown.

In lane :

Fizz can be a easy lane if you start things off with super strong control right form level 1. Fizz is fragile and can't trade back at you pre 3-4 so use this to your full advantage and keep fighting him constantly. If you do this right he will be around half health or so and without potions by the time he hits 4ish. This is exactly what you want as Fizz out trades you once he gets his E leveled up. It's a gapcloser aoe nuke slow that also lets him disjoint your E or Q completely and come crashing down to deal more damage. If you fail to keep him down this lane turns really sour as he does not give a single shit about your tower hitting him when he goes into harass you because towers don't exist for Fizz. If he's dominating you pre 6 you will probably get dived and killed after 6. Likewise if you are dominating him hard pre 6 you will most likely be able to kill him at least once when you get your ult if he uses E to farm. If you see him with 14.png21.png and a 2037_32.png then you can't really do anything against that besides answering with a 2037_32.png of your own and playing carefully. Remember that his ult has a slow projectile speed so you should always aim to eat it with decoy whenever possible it will help manage his damage a significant amount and can in some cases give you a kill. Try not to feed him at all in lane as you will seriously regret it later on. If he roams push his tower or follow him.

In teamfights :

Fizz is a master assassin that puts everyone else to shame, even you. He gets in kills someone in the blink of a eye and gets out right after. If Fizz did well in your lane and got farm it's your duty to make sure he jumps into his death every time he goes in for your back line. Sit just outside his vision range or use decoy to get in range so he can't expect you coming when he goes in to kill your ad carry. You have a hard cc and a bunch of nukes, if you hit him as he comes jumping in he's probably going to die right there and then but it's possible that he will try to use 3157_32.png to stall time and try to E out. You MUST chase him down and kill him if this happens as Fizz can be on 10 hp and still do his job because his E is broken as fuck. Make sure he dies, then shift your focus on other priority targets. If he decides you need to die block his fish and try to all in him back when his E is down, in most cases you should be able to kill him if you don't eat his fish if you do eat his full combo you are done though.

Verdict :

Fizz is a lane that empathizes damage control, if you keep him down you will be fine if you don't shit starts hitting the fan. His harass is very strong and he can do it right under your tower if he wants to. His E disjoints or wastes your Q or E so be careful when using those against him as 1v1ing him without either is a really bad idea. If you can establish dominance early and maybe get a kill on him he becomes a really easy free kill after because you pull ahead in damage and simply deal too much for him to handle. Always save your cutlass / botrk / gb active for when he E's out of your initial ult combo so you can chase after him and finish the job. If he E's out of your ult its usually a good idea to cancel it right as he lands and decoy the inevitable fish he throws at you. If you can avoid his fish he becomes very easy to kill in most cases. Always assume his E is up when you make decisions to dive or not because it always is.

In lane :

Galio is a extremely weak laner when forced to go against Wukong. His bulwark is easy to bait out and he's absolutely defenseless without it. His base stats and low early game damage against your high magic resist level makes it impossible for him to stay alive in most cases. Even if he does bulwark your damage your cooldowns are too low and the damage is too high to keep him sustained. Just keep jumping on him and doing your Q E combo he will either have to leave or die to you as early as level 2. He is free kills for you past 6 and can't do anything at any stage of the game regardless if he does well in lane or not. The only thing you need to be careful of is if he ults you under his tower everything else he does has no significance or impact on how hard he will get beaten up.

In teamfights :

Galio is a good teamfight champion but the major problem is that he will get his ass kicked in lane and will be alone when he tries to initiate because you will counter initiate on his back line. If he tires to peel with ult you will just knock him out if it anyway. He is completely powerless to stop you, even if he uses bulwark on the target you are focusing armor penetration will make that not matter. If he does get super fed somehow and is the only person doing anything on the enemy focus him down with your full combo and consider a 3156_32.png.

Verdict :

Galio is a weak laner that depends on his team to do well in teamfights. You beat him in lane and kill his team in teamfights. He is completely powerless to stop you, I highly recommend getting a 3141_32.png against him as he is free stacks past 6.

Rush items : 1054_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Cancerpirate is a surprisingly irritating champion to deal with as Wukong has he will usually be constantly shooting you and trying to harass you out of lane so he can farm up his 3 gold generating items and be useless for 50 minutes. Just kidding a good Gangplank will rush a 3087_32.png and put heavy emphasis on harassing because his Q mana cost is actually not that high now. The key to this match up is to jump on him and avoid him stacking up his passive. If you can only eat his parrleys you will be okay, if he stacks up his slow on you as well after you are in trouble. If hes doing good against you then simply farm up and all in him at 6, his ult is really RNG and will usually be totally worthless. He is really tanky by default and can be surprisingly strong in a 1v1 situation so don't underestimate him and use your abilities wisely. He has a QSS that heals him on a short cooldown so hold on to ignite until he uses that to make sure it does its job. You are stronger past 6 so use this to your advantage and force him to fight you. You should usually win this lane if you play well.

In teamfights :

Gangplank is pretty good in teamfights  because of his ult and aoe team steroid in the form of his E. When a fight breaks out ignore him and go for his ad carry or ap. He can't stop you or deal enough damage to compensate so you should win most teamfights against him every time unless he is ridiculously fed then focus him down he can be a really irritating champion to take down because of his tanky builds and heal but its doable with items. If he is the only champion on the enemy team doing anything consider getting a 3143_32.png as it will both help you protect yourself from his damage and lower it against everyone on your team if you use the active at the right time.

Verdict :

Gangplank is a decent laner that can do well against you if you eat too many Q's without answering back and let him auto attack you early on. You do better then him in teamfights if you have items and his ult is worthless in a 1v1. Force him to fight you past 6 and simply kill him.

In lane :

Garen is a immovable brick wall that you can't beat in any situation. If the Garen player is even remotely intelligent about the matchup you will have a very hard time. Because Garen is such a tanky champion by default coupled with his damage reduction W, first item usually being a 3068_32.png and most Garens getting 3047_32.png against physical lanes along with a standard 1029_32.png or 1054_32.png start means he will be unkillable starting level 1. His base damage is very high and the addition of a 3134_32.png that is core in every Garens build means he will be constantly dealing high sustained damage to you while you just run away saying "pls no stop" over and over. To top it off he has one of the worst things for a ad caster to deal with : a long lasting silence on a short cooldown. His W allows him to gain massive damage reduction for a short time (see where this is going?) and his ult quickly executes you when he decides to go for a kill. Overall you should never try to fight or lane against Garen as he will simply zone you out starting level 1 or 2 and there is absolutely nothing you can do as his passive makes it impossible to do any sustained trades with him. If you get forced to top against him cry for help and farm jungle camps in between waves and hope he gets bored and starts pushing eventually. 12.png is also a good idea as it will allow you to maybe get some much needed bonus gold for stupid shit happening bot lane or something. Your saving grace is that he's not that good in teamfights and that if you escape lane island packing with a few core items you should be fine to kill his squishies in teamfights getting you back in the game.

In teamfights :

Garen is a monster tankline brick wall and can peel okay but in most cases you should be able to total his ad carry or ap without him having the time to get on you.  You outperform him quite hard in teamfights so don't worry if you die once or so to him in lane, as long as you are farming you have a chance to carry the game anyway. His silence is really painful to deal with when its max rank but you should never get hit by it in time for it to matter unless he flashes you with it then there is not much you can do other then wait it out and decoy immediately after. After you get your full build you can easily 1v1 him and come out on top every time as revenge.

Verdict :

Never pick Wukong into Garen, if you get counterpicked go jungle or swap with your top / mid. Avoid Garen as he will make your life super hard early on, if he keeps following you stay mid so he can't abuse bushes to zone you. Farm very hard and try to do more in teamfights he is just a big damage sponge past mid game and can't really carry like you do.

Rush items : 3134_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3155_32.png

In lane :

Gragas is usually really easy to beat for Wukong as he is extremely squishy early on and does not tank up until you have your items at which point you can kill him anyway regardless of what he builds. Play really aggressive and try to kill him early on if you do then he can't really do anything besides last hit with barrels from a really long distance and miss out on last hits in the process. Farm up hard and get your items, aim for him at the start of every fight as his ultimate is extremely strong if he hits it on a bunch of people or ends up displacing a priority target into his team. Be careful of good Gragas players the start with drunken rage and fight you back at level 1 and use slam at 2. A good Gragas can be very scary but I have yet to meet one that has beat me during laning phase as his base stats are very low and he's just too squishy to try and fight Wukong early on. Even if he does somehow beat you in lane simply farm and use decoy to block his E. If he can't keep Eing on you then you will most likely not die to him ever. He has very high burst at level 6 so if you failed to dominate him before that be careful for a surprise ult into E Q ignite from him but as I said if you block his slam with decoy you should be fine most of the time. Consider buying a early 3155_32.png if he is beating you in lane as it will make you pretty much impossible for him to kill.

In teamfights :

Gragas is a very good teamfight champion, but if you beat him in lane he has to stay out of them and farm up his major damage items to really do anything. Be careful of his ult as it can win him the game if he lands a very good one knocking a bunch of squishy champions on your team into his or outright killing your ad carry or even you if he won lane. Doing baron against a farmed Gragas is always a bad idea so make sure you always kill him first before attempting it. In general he is a very good champion to go for in teamfights if he has items as you will almost always kill him before he can escape, it's important to spin right inside his model or in his escape path so his bodyslam gets stopped early. Most Gragas players build pretty tanky but if you most of your core done it will make no real difference. Be careful when you go on him as he can knock you into his team as a response, if this happens quickly stop ult and decoy out. Leaving Gragas alone and going for his squishy team mates is usually a bad idea if he has items as he can nuke or outright kill your backline instantly leaving you without backup. Try to always take him out first unless you beat him in lane and know he's not a threat.

Verdict :

Gragas is a pretty weak laner when he is up against Wukong. Try to kill him early or at least deny him farm as he is a strong teamfight champion and can seriously ruin your team if you let him get his items. Early aggression and possible dives are usually enough to shut down Gragas. Don't leave him alone to farm after laning phase has ended and don't do objectives without vision if he is not visible on the map as you are asking to either get crushed by his ult or Q+R stolen. He is not a direct threat to you but if he has items he is a big one to your backline.

VS

Graves

Easy

Graves is a pretty cool cowboy dude with a shotgun. His main gimmick so to speak is that he's a bit more tanky then all the other ad carries but that's really not the case. He has some mean aoe burst damage and one of the most irritating vision denial tools in the game but that's about it.

Not much to say about him as he dies just as quickly as all the other ad carries when you focus him down with your full combo. Just be careful about his smokescreen as you can end up in the middle of his whole team because you took the wrong way out.

Solo lane Gravy :

I have seen solo Graves a few times and it's pretty good, his passive makes him tanky and he has good waveclear / shove but against Wukong he can't really do anything as you simply jump on him and deal high damage. While you will eat full damage buckshots in the face your passive and armor yellows should usually keep you alive long enough for you to get a kill on him in the early levels. If all else fails bank on ye olde level 6 all in. As with all solo lane ad champions don't let him poke you too much without answering back as he will establish lane dominance and make your life difficult. His burst is pretty high so keep that in mind when you dive him as he can quickly reduce your health bar to dust with the help of his tower.

Verdict :

Graves is a slightly more tanky ad carry that can do okay against you in a solo lane but will make no difference as a bot laner if you have items. He has high aoe burst and vision denial that can make baron fights a bit more scary then usual for you.

VS

Hecarim

Easy

Hecarim is a very easy jungler or laner for Wukong to deal with as his early game stats are laughably low allowing you to kill him early for free double buffs or first blood when he ganks you. It's usually a good idea to ward his red / blue buff and go over to kill him when he comes doing it with around half health. Focus on killing and making his life difficult early game as he tanks up pretty hard mid - late game making him a poor target for your all in. Avoid focusing him in teamfights unless he is ridiculously fed then simply peel him off your backline when he ults with a ult of your own.

Verdict :

Hecarim is a weak early game jungler that's really easy for you to kill if you have your cooldowns up. If he goes around to gank you simply decoy and watch him slam into your clone. He tends to camp solo laners like Wukong so ward up and remember to kill him if he comes running at you with less then 90% health.

Rush items : 3134_32.png > 3144_32.png

In lane :

The donger is a really easy mage to beat, he has incredibly low base stats and defensive abilities making him a free kill for you whenever he steps even a little bit away from his tower to grab cs. Try to kill him at levels 1-2 as one E and auto attack will deal half his health bar in damage. There is really nothing he can do against you in lane as you can use decoy to avoid his missiles and turrets hitting you. The only thing he has in his arsenal is his E that can stun or blind you if it hits close or directly at you.

In teamfights :

Stealth up and full combo him for free money, if you abused him really hard in lane considering ignoring him as even your support can probably 1v1 kill him at that point. If he tries to splitpush simply go up there and kill him. Donger can't do anything to Wukong has you have pretty much everything that directly counters him.

Verdict :

Heimer is a super squishy mage that dies whenever Wukong comes close to him, outside a and his rather hard to hit stun he has absolutely nothing to defend himself with when jumped on. Some dingers will invest in a to try and kite you but you should never get kited as his rockets and turrets can't hit you in stealth. Consider buying a when you are laning against him and just using him as free stacks whenever your cooldowns are up.

Skill order : Q>E>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 1054_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Irelia is a very hard nut to crack for Wukong and I don't recommend going against her if possible. While she does not crush you like Garen or Darius she is hard to beat at first and becomes a absolute monster after 6 onward. The name of the game here is sustain and Irelia wins that category immediately. If you go against Irelia you are playing on borrowed time and have two options : either try to kill her early and snowball or farm hard and do more then her in teamfights. I usually go for the farm option as most Irelias leave you alone if you don't touch them, Irelia is pretty scary with farm but so are you and if you are confident in your ability to do better then her in teamfights then focus entirely on farm. If she starts getting hammy and harassing you with her truedamage then simply use decoy to wait out as much of it as you can and trade back. Her stun has a really long cast animation so you can in most cases completely cancel it with a quick decoy. If you trade back well and avoid her truedamage you can usually do fine against her but you will most likely not be able to kill her by yourself unless she makes a serious mistake so if you see her getting aggressive and you are not handling it well call for a jungle gank. She's pretty easy to gank as she has no escape besides flash, be sure to not let her juke you with a bush > Q to minion move like Akali. Do not try to fight her past 6 as she will usually just outheal your damage while standing inside ult. Your best bet is to wait for her to use ult on minions and then go all out, but it's not recommended as shes really tanky and has incredibly high damage once her truedamage is leveled up. If you are playing against her during a extended laning phase be really careful about going near her as she can usually outright kill you in the blink of a eye. If you feel your lane is not safe to stay in anymore then call for your jungler to hold while you go roam bot lane or mid for kills.

In teamfights :

By the time teamfights come rolling up Irelia is usually too tanky for you to kill so go for her team mates. She's a strong front liner and can be a very solid assassin so be careful around her as she can jump on you and deal a lot of damage quickly while healing for considerable amounts of health in the process. If shes really fed it's worth focusing her down with your team and investing in a 3143_32.png. A good Irelia is really scary and can hardcarry just like you so make sure you don't feed her in lane and properly handle her in teamfights. In most cases she can't stop you from killing her ad carry or ap if you have enough items. A fed Irelia will easily outheal your full damage output so don't try to take her on alone if shes dominating.

Verdict :

Irelia is a hard lane for Wukong to deal with and it's not advised to lane against her unless you have no choice. You can try beating her early or simply farming and killing her backline in teamfights, if she's pushing ask for junglers help. Don't fight her past 6 if her ult is up as she will outheal your full combo and kill you. Good decoy usage will either make this lane doable or extremely hard. A lot also depends on the person playing Irelia, a good one should never lose to Wukong even early game.

VS

Janna

Medium

Janna is a very strong support that can seriously ruin your day if you make a sloppy all in on her ad carry. She has the highest amounts of CC of any support at her disposal and will usually make it impossible for you to get back on her ad or ap after she blows you away with her ult. It is extremely important to position yourself in a way that when she tries to ult you away you smack into a nearby thick wall or other obstacle and have less time needed to get back in range of her.

Her tornado knock up fully interrupts and stops your dash at any point of its charge be it instant or full so make sure you walk around it before trying to E back on her. She has a shield that can prevent ignite kills and her ult heals everyone inside it, if she is support it's usually not too much. She has a slow but it's mostly ineffective and her passive gives everyone moment speed.

The main thing about Janna is that you need to initiate before she can react and finish the job before she creates distance. If she puts you at a distance from something you are trying to kill you will most likely not be able to get back on it. Ideally you want to ult her and the ad carry and get pushed into a nearby wall so you can quickly dash or ult + gb speed back on your target and finish the job. The dream scenario is that you kill whoever you went all in on before she could do anything, then kill her and everyone else.

Verdict :

Janna is not the ideal support to pick against Wukong but she does the job quite well. If she creates distance between you and the ad carry you will usually not be able to get back in. Try to knock her up along with the target you are focusing and aim to get pushed into a wall when you all in so you have less distance between you and the person you are killing / shes protecting. Be careful near her tornado as it stops your dash completely and don't count on ignite kills when shes around because of the shield.

Rush items : 1054_32.png > 3144_32.png > 1028_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Jarvan is a decently strong laner that can seriously mess you up at level 2 but outside that he can't really hold a candle to what you have to answer with once his all in window is gone. He will try to harass you very hard at level 1 with his auto attack passive + Q so make sure you fight back and keep high on health. Once he hits level 2 be very careful as he will try to E Q combo knock you up and ignite all in. His Q has a very low cooldown and he will be able to Q you twice during the all in once to get on you the other to finish you off after you flash away. It is really important to stay high on health and answer back if you are full health and he goes on you with E Q. He can only kill you if he harassed you down to about 70-50% health at level 1 so keep that in mind and stay back if you are hurt and he hits 2. A smart Jarvan will also try to do a level up > E Q all in to surprise you and take advantage of his level 2 over your 1 if you are a bit behind on last hitting or his wave is pushing. Playing safe and waiting for level 3 is the best idea when you are laning against Jarvan, once you have decoy unlocked he can't kill you any more as you can simply go into decoy stealth if you feel threatened. Past 4 you will out damage him in a straight up fight so take advantage of that and fight back if he is still trying to harass you. A very important part to remember is that his level 6 burst is very high and he can attempt to kill you with a quick level 6 level up E Q > R combo. The fun part here is that you can either decoy as he is sliding at you and watch him ult your cuddly clone or simply stop and watch him run around waiting for you to appear. Either way it's really important to not get hit by his ult if you are anywhere below 80% hp as it will deal massive damage to you and most likely get you killed. Once you get your sustain item you can freely duel him and score a kill as you deal more damage in a straight up fight.

In teamfights :

Jarvan is a exceptional teamfighter and can be a major asset to his team if he lands a good ult, however so can you. In almost all cases Jarvan will go tanky and try to initiate on your squishies, you should counter initiate and aim to kill his backline while he gets chased out by yours. If he is going full damage then simply wait for him to go in and all in kill him. The same idea applies here about him going in on you with his ult ready : either decoy when he is sliding at you or pretend you did and try to create distance. He does a lot of damage but in most cases will not be able to kill you alone. If he has 0 defensive items you should not be afraid of him as he is made of paper and will die to your full combo if you decide to fight back. In a situation where you and him both go for eachothers backline you should almost always come out ahead. If he is doing really well and is the only threat on his team consider investing in a 3143_32.png.

Verdict :

Jarvan is a decent laner with potential to all in kill you at level 2, playing smart and just waiting out his power spike will usually result in you getting a kill on him between levels 3-5. Take care once again when he reaches 6 as his burst will be quite high. If you can manage to make him waste his ult on your decoy you will win a duel every time.

In lane :

Jax is a fairly easy lane to deal with if you know what you are doing. First off this guy is a much better sustained trader then you meaning never try to openly 1v1 him or he will beat you because of his passive, ult and W. Trading with Jax must be done in quick fashion and it's crucial you don't get stunned into his auto attacks or you will be in a lot of trouble. The safest and easiest way to beat Jax is to poke him hard with Q at level 1 and go in on him at level 2, when he starts his dodge spin simply back off and try not to hit him during it as it will increase its damage. Once his dodge is down you are free to hit him as your E attackspeed and armor shred will give you higher damage.  Remember that your Q goes trough his dodge so use that to your advantage.

In teamfights :

Jax is a fairly strong front line champion that can tank up really hard and still deal really high damage in extended fights if he gets his items. Generally its best to simply go for his back line and kill them quickly to avoid jax getting his passive stacks up but if he is fed then simply let someone else initiate and wait for him to inevitably jump your ad carry or ap and then peeling him off with your ult. In most cases he can't do anything if you assist your back line and will die shortly after. If he is however super fed then don't count on your ult being able to out damage his sustain and constant attacks. It's important to decoy and keep him both guessing and moving constantly to hit his targets. Standing still against jax and just fighting him is rarely a good idea, utilize your slippery nature to keep him low on passive stacks.

Verdict :

Jax is fairly weak early on and you need to abuse that to keep him low on farm and away from his key items. Trade properly and don't let him get too many attacks off, using decoy and ult at the right times is crucial when trying to 1v1 him as a bad ult or decoy will quickly result in you getting killed. If he is ahead don't count on your ult out damaging his sustain or damage. Use decoy to dodge his stun and hopefully W, AVOID his 3rd ult attack leap W combo with decoy at any cost as even 2 of those will send you to base instantly. Generally it's not a good idea to fight jax alone after 6 unless you are ahead, call for your jungler to help you or try to outplay him. Don't focus him in teamfights if hes not that fed, peel him off the backline if he is. Jax thrives in extended fights so try to end them quickly by assassinating key members of his team or killing him with all your cooldowns if he goes in on your back line.

Rush items : 1054_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Jayce is a rather easy lane opponent if you use decoy wisely. His level 2 burst is very high if he hits all 4 parts of it but you can easily avoid it with a early point in decoy as it will either eat half the damage if timed right or force him to back off. Ideally you want to start full on trading with jayce after level 3 when you have all your skills unlocked. Simply E on him Q after and decoy when he goes hammer and tries to Q>AA>E you, if you time it right he will waste both the enhanced auto attack and E on the decoy and you will come out on top in the trade. Jayce generally does not build any tanky items so once you get damage you can easily kill him over and over as long as you get a jump on him. If he tries to poke you with his gate Q combo simply use decoy as a shield or stay behind minions. In most cases you can either kill him early on at levels 2-4 or be forced to wait for 6 and a brutalizer before you do a all in out of a bush or corner. If he beats you in lane don't worry too much and just keep farming as you will do a lot more then him in teamfights if you keep up with items.

In teamfights :

Jayce is pretty much a different version of Nidalee in teamfights and serves no other real purpose. If you have entered the poke siege phase try to tell your team to back off and stealth full combo initiate, if you happen to be able to reach jayce then do it on him if not go for his team mates. In general if you get a good initiate off jayce is powerless as his strongest position is when he is pokeing your team down and forcing people to back. So it's important to not let him poke too long and just get a good initiate off asap to force jayce to either run or try to go in as a fragile melee champion and in most cases get killed or cc'ed. If the jayce is fed then you simply have to initiate on him, he will usually be hanging around in the front area of his team as he wants to hit his Q's constantly, use this to your advantage and jump on him with a all in. Most of the time you will be able to kill a jayce before he can E you away because he's really fragile but if he does manage to survive simply use your wide assortment of speed buff or gap closing tools to get back on him and finish the job. Jayce should never give you too much trouble if you handle him right.

Verdict :

Jayce is a fairly strong laner and can offer surprising burst the first few levels but can't really do much against you once you have all 3 skills unlocked. You should be able to dominate him both in lane and outside of it without any problems. Sneaking up to him and doing a full combo when hes trying to poke during sieges is the best way to deal with him during teamfights.

Rush items : 1053_32.png > 3134_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3155_32.png

In lane :

Karma is a interesting mage that is quite underestimated by most players, she is very strong in a 1v1 situation against nearly everyone and can seriously change the tide of a teamfight with her shields and Q nuke. The key to beating her in lane is to either kill her early on or farm up a brutalizer asap and then doing a level 6 all in. She's very strong against you once she ranks up her Q as she can always land it on you if you get rooted by her tether first. Trade as hard as you can but be very careful about how many mantra Q's you eat into the face as they add up really quickly. In general after 6 if you have all your cooldowns you can usually kill her with a brutalizer but that depends on what items she rushes, a 3191_32.png might not actually die even if you ignite her because has a heal and shield at her disposal. She also disengages really well meaning you have to flash after her or make sure you deal so much damage she can't get out in time. I have not experienced this matchup much but I think it can turn very hard if the karma player knows how to abuse her tether and shields against you. If all else fails simply farm up and await teamfights.

In teamfights :

Karma excels at making people simply not die, her shield is super strong and also gives everyone around it a massive speed boost if mantra'd so it's incredibly important you kill her first before going on other targets. You can usually catch karma out when shes trying to poke with her mantra Q during sieges, in this case the element of surprise and high burst is enough to usually drop her before she can make a move but if she does get out you will most likely not be able to reach her again. Karma is like a weird more damaging version of Janna that's really misunderstood and underestimated by everyone until they eat a mantra Q to the face that does nidalee spear tier damage then you realize that shes a super strong utility mage. Either way try to drop her first and then go for her team mates after, don't underestimate what she can do.

Verdict :

Karma is a strong mage that can dominate you in lane if played correctly and make her squishies not die with her incredible shields. It's important to try and kill her as much as possible and prevent her from getting massive ap items as she will become unkillable by you with her root + heal and shield with enough ap. Always try to catch her by surprise and dispose of her immediately in teamfights.

General lane strategy : Dodge skittles / Decoy if walled / Bait out his exhaust / Kill early / All in constantly
General teamfight strategy : Try to kill him immediately and leave him out of position with his passive

Skill order : E>Q>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 3144_32.png > 3155_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Karthus is a easy lane to beat as long as you keep moving and keep dodging his Q's. He has no real self defense other then landing Q's in lane as his E costs too much mana early on to be reliable. Simply jump on him with E and constantly move around making him miss his Q's while you auto attack in between, at level 2 add Q in there as well. Most karthus players will pack a exhaust so its important to bait that out first when you are trying to kill him early, if you keep trading with him all the time he will be forced to eventually use it as self defense and be a free kill after. It's important to decoy when he catches you in his wall to deny him vision of you, it lowers your MR so his Q's will hurt a lot if he lands them on you while walled. In most cases you can kill him repeatedly early, even if you do don't rule him out as he can still farm and get his early items and contribute quite heavily in teamfights regardless of his score sort of like Singed. You can usually all in him past 6 and get a kill if you do it right, just be careful when you dive him as exhaust and wall can result in you getting killed. Rush a 3155_32.png as soon as you can to avoid him killing you with his ult after you all in and escape with low health. Most karthus players will usually stand their ground damage you then use passive to ult and finish you off.

In teamfights :

Karthus can be either a complete joke or serious team destroyer depending on where he dies during a teamfight. If he dies and walls your team off inside his E and Q's then you are in serious trouble, it's your job to use your superior initiation skills to kill him before he can get into position. This matchup is similar to fiddlesticks in the sense that if he gets into a good spot your team is done if he is removed before he does then it's a cakewalk. Make sure you don't stand in his passive after doing your job as he will melt you and then finish it up with a ult, as I mentioned above 3156_32.png is really good here so try to get that early as the shield is a serious lifesaver against karthus.

Verdict :

Karthus has very low base stats and is a easy target in lane, bully and shut him down early to prevent him from crushing your team with his passive mid-lategame. Removing him in a good spot before the fight even starts is a good way to deal with Karthus, if he is not fed and not a threat go for his team mates instead. Remember to dodge is Q's or use decoy to significantly reduce damage if you can't.

Kassadin

Medium

  • Abuse him super hard in lane
  • Deny as much farm as possible
  • Try to kill him pre 6
  • Be careful about his damage when he has blue
  • All in past 6 only if he riftwalks into minions to farm

Lane difficulty : Easy
Teamfight difficulty : Medium
General lane strategy : Deny farm / Kill early / Keep beating him down

Skill order : Q>E>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 3144_32.png > 3155_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Kassadin in lane is a punching bag that can sometimes fight back if you mess up a bit. He is at his weakest pre 6 so you should do everything in your power to deny him as much CS as possible. Ideally you want to kill him once or twice before he gets his ultimate and becomes uncatchable. The idea is fairly simple, start with Q and do AA>Q combos on him at level 1 add in E on top at 2 and just keep jumping on him constantly. Kassadin can be quite tanky but it's nothing you can't handle if you keep up constant harass, remember to try and make him Q your decoy when you do E>Q combo as every Kassadin maxes this skill first and it hurts quite a bit. In most cases you should be able to either kill or force him out of lane pre 6 at least once and keep up a cs advantage. If you quickly get a 3144_32.png any damage he does to you is irrelevant because you can heal it up after anyway. Also getting a 3155_32.png is a good way to make sure he can't do anything to you period but it's not completely necessary if hes doing really bad. You should be able to win lane hard and dominate both him and his team the entire early mid game until he gets his few core items and becomes Kassadin.

In teamfights :

Kassadins role in teamfights is to poke or burst depending on how fed he is, you usually can't catch him unless he riftwalks into your face in which case you are free to unload all your damage and crush him on the spot. If you did a good job in laning phase Kassadin should not be able to have any meaningful impact without his front line helping out greatly so jump on his backline to start and fight to completely disarm him. A Kassadin without items can't risk jumping on anyone but the support because he will most likely die or get forced out of the fight, he's a supreme clean up champion tho so make sure you kill the backline and win the teamfight otherwise he will chase your whole team down 1 by 1 and snowball very hard. If he is fed somehow then simply wait for the fight to break out counter his riftwalk with a ult and simply blow him up with the help of your AD / support. Overall he should never be a problem unless he's super fed and 2-3 items ahead of you.

Verdict :

Kassadin is a easy lane for Wukong and probably a free win if you get a few kills off him early. He should never be able to match your 1v1 power if you farm well enough and deny him cs in lane and never be a threat in teamfights if you do your job properly. Overall a very easy lane that can only be lost with massive jungle pressure or mistakes on your part. If he starts roaming hard after being beat in lane either follow or take his tower depending on the situation.

Katarina

Medium

  • Establish early lane control
  • Get sustain quickly to match her resourceless harass
  • Farm hard while trying to zone out of cs
  • Take her out of teamfights immediately
  • Only all in past 6 if she uses shunpo on minions to farm
Lane difficulty : Medium
Teamfight difficulty : Medium / Hard
General lane strategy : Trade really hard / Go for early kill / Zone out of Q last hit range when you have lane control / Farm
General teamfight strategy : Focus her hard

Skill order : E>Q>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 3144_32.png > 3155_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Katarina can be a easy or somewhat difficult lane depending on the skill of the player, she is resourceless and will usually outlast you if you don't take control of the lane early. Trade hard starting from level 1 and try to get her into a position where she has to last hit with Q's, if you can do this then the lane is usually won. Kat is only a real threat if shes CSing and looking to Q E W you at the same time, if she has to use her spells to last hit then you should be in no danger. Rushing early sustain is important in this lane as she can force you out if you are not full health or near that threshold after her poke. If she makes a mistake early you can usually kill her once, but if that does not happen simply farm up and deny her as much cs as possible at the same time get your items and ultimate then get ready for a 1v1. Most kats will try to kill you at level 6, it's important that you are at a point where she has to ult to out damage you immediately counter ult and chase her as hard as you can. You will usually not kill her as she has a very balanced free flash on a low cooldown but if you did enough damage you can force her out of lane again. You should be able to farm harder and get her tower regardless of how your 1v1's went unless she got some kills on you then you have to focus on farming. If you did bad in lane you can usually make up for it in teamfights.

In teamfights :

Kat can be a pentakill machine if she gets her resets so you absolutely need to stop her from getting big. Focus her out in teamfights and make sure she dies without contributing much. Your ult is great for stopping hers and you usually have enough damage to drop her before she can escape if you got your items. Don't ignore katarina as she will most likely end up quad killing your team while you try to kill hers if she has her items. If she is too fed and her ult is crushing you too hard simply wait for her to start her ult and interrupt it instead of using it immediately for the cc and catch out of position potential. You should be able to handle her in a 5v5 if you didn't fail lane super hard.

Verdict :

Katarina is a resourceless laner that can give you a lot of trouble if you don't establish lane control early on. She is not that strong pre 6 and you should be able to duel her at all times if you use your abilities properly just remember to farm as hard as possible and focus her out in teamfights later on. Unless she is super fed somehow you should not have trouble dealing with her if you jump on her first just be sure to deal enough damage in your burst combo that she can't go back into the teamfight later on without recalling if she manages to escape.

Kayle

Hard

  • Try to kill her early
  • Focus on farming hard if you can't get early kill
  • Eat her Q's with decoy

  • Call for help if shes dominating and pushing you
  • Only all in past 6 if you can get a surprise drop on her
  • Take her out of teamfights first

Skill order : E>Q>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 3144_32.png > 3155_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Kayle is a pretty bad matchup for Wukong, she has ranged harass and hurts a lot on top of being able to cockblock you super hard from kills with her ultimate past 6. In order to deal with Kayle you either need to all in her at levels 1-3 or farm really hard and hope you can outplay her in teamfights or catch her by surprise with your full combo during laning phase. Kayle main strong point against you is that she can pretty much force you out of lane or cs with just one successful Q>E auto attack's combo. If you ever make the mistake of eating a full rotation then you can't really stay or she will flash kill you. So it's really important to either red pot all in her early or use decoy as best as you can to avoid taking too much damage while you farm. Usually a bad kayle will die to you at level 2-3 making the lane quite simple if you keep up the pressure but good ones will simply never let you jump on them without taking a Q and a few auto attacks in the face. You can usually all in her past 6 and get a kill if you wait for her to push up and then decoy > full combo. If you do it fast enough most of the damage will be dealt and your ult will get blocked instead, it's important to save ignite for when her ult ends as most kayles will panic ult when you jump on them so instant ignite is not a good idea. Be sure to flash after her and finish the job if she tries to get away. If it's a farm game then you should be able to do more then her in teamfights granted that you focus her out first.

In teamfights :

Kayle is a very strong teamfighter simply because of her ultimate. A well timed kayle ulti will change the tide of a fight so it's extremely important you take her out first as going for her back line is usually going to result in you getting killed because you are unable to finish off the target due to the invulnerability. Try to surprise her and ideally kill her before she can ult or make her ult and waste it as she will die immediately after it wears off. If you can do this then you should be able to easily win the fight after as a game changing cooldown either got wasted or denied. If you can't get to her then it's usually best to wait for the fight to fully break out, her to ult someone and then go in on her or the backline. As long as her ult is down and you have items she's not a threat what so  ever.

Verdict :

Kayle is a really strong laner that can give you a very rough time if you misplay even slightly. It's super important to either go for a kill or focus on farming and getting items. Sustain is a must in this lane so get ready to recall for potions and cutlass components regularly. Ideally you want to remove her from the fight instantly in teamfights or make her waste her ult.  As long as her ult is down and you didn't do too bad in lane you should be able to win.

Kennen

Hard

Lane difficulty : Hard
Teamfight difficulty : Hard
General lane strategy : Capitalize on his mistakes / Harass him when his W aa is down / Dodge Q or block it with decoy / Surprise all in after 6 when you see him use Q or any other skills to farm minions
General teamfight strategy : Counter initiate and hope he does not kill your whole team

Summoners : 14.png4.png

Skill order : E>Q>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 1054_32.png > 3155_32.png > 3144_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Kennen is one of the strongest lane bullies in the game. He is tanky, does high damage, has hard cc and good mobility. This is a very hard matchup for Wukong because Kennen has ranged auto attacks to poke him out of lane along with long range harass and hard cc to immediately stop any counter attack you might answer with. Kennen is extremely hard to gank too so jungle help is out of the question most of the time. You will have to get real crafty with this one any mistake he makes you need to grab immediately and take advantage of or you will end up losing. If he uses Q to get last hit, W auto attack or E then leap on him instantly and punish him for it. He's not too tanky for you to harass down the only problem is his high return damage : you absolutely need to dodge or block his Q with your decoy. It really hurts and is in most cases his main source of damage. If you can block it or dodge then you are in a real good spot and on your way to killing him at 6. A super important thing to note here is that DO NOT STAY NEAR HIM IF HE HITS 6 BEFORE YOU most Kennens will instantly flash all in you because the damage he deals at that point is extremely high and you will get locked into double stun ignite. If this happens you absolutely need to counter flash or decoy away as hard as you can. After his ult is down you can freely all in him if he uses his E to farm minions. He he has his ult then be ready to die if you try to all in, it will come down to how well you play it out and if you dodge his Q or not. Overall a very hard but not impossible match up for Wukong.

In teamfights :

Kennen rocks teamfights, but so do you. It's going to be a race between you two for whole will kill more people faster. Focusing him first is usually not a good idea because most Kennens get a early 3157_32.png and 3116_32.png making him very tanky and hard to take down. If you do see him seriously out of position and know your team will follow up go in at full force and make him pay for it. If you can take out Kennen before the fight fully breaks out you are in a really good spot and even if you die doing it you just did your team a major service. If he does initiate on your team then try to counter intiate and hope nobody on your team dies and they focus the pikatchu down after he comes out of his hourglass stasis.

Verdict :

Very hard uphill battle lane for Wukong to face, if the Kennen screws up a lot it can be quite easy win for Wukong, if not it's probably going to be bad times for you. Farm hard, get a hexdrinker and try to make things happen past 6. If he gets a good ult off on your team then you need to either counter initiate or immediately kill him after he comes out of hourglass. If he gets fed in lane and wins teamfights you are probably done for good.

Kha'Zix

Easy

  • Kill him or force him back early

  • Repeatedly kill him pre and after 6
  • Focus or ignore in teamfights depending on how fed he is

Lane difficulty : Easy

Skill order : Q>E>W>E>E>R

Rush items : 3144_32.png > 3155_32.png > 3134_32.png

In lane :

Khazix used to be a rather hard lane for Wukong before he got nerfed, now he's barely seen and when he does come out to lane against you it's onesided in your favor. Establish early dominance by doing AA>Q combos on him you should be able to outdamage his Q or W, add in a E at level 2 for additional damage. If you harass him hard enough you should be able to kill him as soon as level 2 due to his really squishy base stats. Khazix does have a heal but it's usually not enough to keep him safe against your constant bombardment of poke. He can however fight back fairly hard pre 3 as his passive and Q deal significant damage if you don't auto him back properly  during trades. After 3 you can safely slip away with decoy after you jump on him making the lane very one sided, if you are facing a aggressive Khazix who jumps after you then simply save decoy and use it to cancel his long Q animation or eat his passive. Either way you should be able to kill him repeatedly in lane as you have much higher damage early on. If all else fails simply farm and do more then he does in teamfights.

In teamfights :

Khazix is a potent assassin similar to Kassadin if he has his items. If you did you job properly Khazix should not be a threat and you are free to rampage all over his backline while he is helpless in the distance. If he is fed or farmed however it might be a better idea to wait for him to jump in and instagib him with your full ult combo. Remember that your ult knocks him out of his jump so if he enters a fight, gets a kill and tries to escape you can with good timing interrupt it. A Khazix should never really give you trouble even if he is fed as he's super squishy and your burst with items is too much for him to handle.

Verdict :

Khazix is a weak laner who can't out trade Wukong and is usually forced to last hit from a distance with his void spikes. You can get a bunch of kills on him early game and simply make him irrelevant for the rest of the match if you play right. He should never be a threat to you even if he does well.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy

Kogmaw is one of the easiest AD carries to kill as he has no innate escape ability and can't kite you or cc you when you jump in on him. He is a free kill at all stages of the game if you have even half your cooldowns up.

Solo lane AP / AD (?) Kog :

I have not seen much AP kog lately but it's pretty much free money as he can't stop you from jumping on him and doing a heavy damage EQ combo. His base stats are really low and he can't possibly lane against you even if he gets jungler help and a bunch of kills. Focus on killing him constantly whenever you can.

Verdict :

Kogmaw is a scary champion if he gets frontline protection and is allowed to freely vomit all over the enemy team. Problem is the front line does not exist for Wukong so he simply eats him whenever he wants. Kogmaw can't do anything against you if you reach him in a fight.

VS

In lane :

Leblanc is a easy lane as long as you play really aggressive early on and establish your dominance in lane. She can't really fight you at level 1 or 2 so take advantage of that and force her to blow most of her sustain or even summoners early to give you the edge in a early or prolonged laning phase. Because she is so squishy the first few levels you should be able to get a kill or put yourself in a position where you can zone her out of farm or possibly xp. It is very important that you don't miss CS while harassing her as you will need the money for a quick 1053_32.png into 3155_32.png. The scepter will provide you with much needed sustain to keep you healthy after she unloads her spells on you while the hexdrinker will most likely completely deny any chance of a kill happening on the Leblanc's part. A early doran's blade is also helpful as it gives you a little bit of extra health on top of sustain and damage. Remember that Leblanc is still Leblanc no matter what you do. Unless you REALLY trample her into the ground she will reach 6 at a reasonable time and be able to fully burst you down from full health if you misplay and put yourself in a exposed position. Her full combo hurts a lot even with a couple of basic ability power items so always keep in mind that she can kill you if you make even a small mistake. Be ready to decoy immediately as you see her start a full chain of spells and back off because her cooldowns are very low. If she uses ignite and is unsuccessful in killing you with it that's your signal that you should start playing as aggressive as possible. Her cooldowns are low but they are not low enough to outdamage you constantly, without ignite her killing potential drops exponentially allowing you to possibly kill her if you catch her properly in your ult. As mentioned earlier don't stay in lane if you are low on health and can't heal up with potions or by hitting minions. Always make sure you beat her down early and punish her if she tries to wave clear with her dashes. Leblanc with items is very scary so it's best that you starve and deny her as much as you can before teamfights roll around. In general you should win lane against her if you play smart and know when to back off, the biggest mistake most novice players do against Leblanc is staying in lane with around 70% hp thinking they can escape with flash. She has 3 flashes and super high damage, potentially two roots and a rather long silence. You are not going to live long if she decides to finish you off so don't be a hero and just back off, get more items and sustain the come back into lane a safer person.

In teamfights :

Leblancs role is to assassinate squishy champions or if she gets her items, erase anyone she deems unfit for life. If she is doing well then it's your number one priority to remove her instantly when you get the chance. With items you should be able to kill her before she can double dash away, if she uses a 3157_32.png to stall for time be ready to decoy and give chase or simply end her the moment she comes out. It's really important you catch her by surprise because if she sees you coming you will either get crushed by her full combo or not catch her at all. If you don't see a opening to engage on her, waiting for her to make the first move once a fight starts is also a great idea. Just be ready to flash and E after her when she uses her dash return ability. In general you either take her out quickly or you don't at all : her mobility is incredible, one that you cannot possibly match most of the time. If you however did your job in lane and beat her down you should still focus her as she can kill any squishy even with little items under her belt. Leblanc is simply too dangerous to ignore and if you beat her in lane she will be that much easier to kill just be sure you don't do a sloppy engage and leave yourself without major cooldowns.

Verdict :

Leblanc is a easy lane for Wukong pre 6 due to better base stats and higher early damage. After 6 however you should mind her damage and stay high on health as much as possible, even when behind she can still kill you if you screw up. Don't get baited into wasting major cooldowns and just having her dash away. A good Leblanc can juke you really hard so keep in mind that you will most likely not catch her if she knows what she is doing. In teamfights you need to do a "one shot one kill" approach with the element of surprise. If she gets away you are not going to catch her. Overall a fairly easy matchup.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

  • Use Q at level 1 to trade from behind minions
  • Avoid his Q at all costs early on by staying in minions if he fights you
  • Use decoy to block his Q
  • Be really careful about Eing on him when there are no minions nearby
  • Buy early sustain and keep high on health
  • Avoid all-ining him as he will almost always escape

VS

Leona

Medium

  • Try to make her waste Q on your decoy
  • If you feel like she will land her E on you any moment decoy and walk towards her a little bit so it latches on the decoy and probably makes her waste Q as well
  • Her W makes her deceptively tanky
  • If she is giving you a lot of trouble consider buying a 3139_32.png

VS

Lissandra

Hard

  • If you feel like you can't beat her early on simply stand inside your minions and let her push your wave with the splash damage from her spells
  • You can most likely kill her early on if you start with 2037_32.png and play aggressive
  • Use decoy to eat her ult, it's a lot easier then it sounds with a bit of practice as it has a very long cast animation and most Lissandra players will ult immediately after coming out of her claw ability
  • You can't usually all in her due to every Lissandra on this planet rushing a 3157_32.png, simply ignore her and kill her backline first
  • Consider getting a 3139_32.png if she keeps ulting you in fights a lot

VS

Lulu

Hard

  • She has the highest amount of tools at her disposal that can hardcounter you, keep this in mind as you play against her in all roles
  • Her shield reveals you in stealth
  • Her polymorph does not stop your ult
  • Her ultimate is a hard counter to your all in combo as it heals and peels you off when you go in on the squishy priority targets
  • If you can afford it, kill her first

VS

Lux

Hard

  • A good lux will never die to you in lane even early on due to double shield from her W and 21.png
  • It's best to simply focus on farming against her
  • Keep in mind that if she binds you as you dash it will cancel the dash and damage
  • Use decoy stealth to dodge her spells and safely get away from the passive debuff
  • Avoid all ins on her as she can effectively double her current health with shields
  • Rushing a 3155_32.png is mandatory against her as she can absolutely vaporize you instantly past 6 if you eat even 1 binding
  • Her bind hits two targets meaning you can't block it with decoy but the duration is lower for the 2nd target so it's still a good idea to use decoy if you are about to get hit
  • If you see her without 21.png you can play aggressive and go for a early kill
  • It's best to ignore her in teamfights and kill her AD carry instead

VS

Malphite

Medium

  • Try to keep his passive down as much as possible
  • Trade really hard early and oom him as he will be unable to do anything to you if he can't roll his shards back every trade
  • Be careful about his burst past 6 it can kill you if you are below 80% health
  • Try to make him use his shard on your clone after you E by instantly decoying instead of Qing
  • Ignore him in teamfights and go for his backline instead
  • If he is going heavy AP or focusing you hard consider buying a 3156_32.png

VS

Malzahar

Easy

  • Trade very hard early on and abuse his low base stats
  • Try to get a few early kills
  • His voidling pet will not target you if you use decoy while under his dot
  • If he is hanging back and using his dot to farm time it and place a decoy right next to the minion to eat the dot and make him waste mana reapplying it
  • Do not dive him past 6 as he will ult and kill you
  • You can safely all in him if he is away from his turret as his ult does not cancel your spin
  • If he is a major problem consider buying a 3139_32.png
  • If he is fed kill him first, if he is ignorable go for his AD carry or other squishy champions first

VS

Maokai

Easy

  • Ward early as his ganks are very powerful
  • Use decoy to stay safe or bait him into rooting it
  • Your decoy blocks his sapling and most of the time the aoe damage if you position it right
  • His early game damage is deceptively high
  • Ignore him in teamfights and kill his backline first
  • It's important to kill his backline fast as his ult reduces your damage a lot if he comes to peel you off

VS

Master Yi

Easy

  • Anticipate his alpha strike and use decoy to make it not target you
  • He can't 1v1 you early if you start with a 2037_32.png
  • Play aggressive and kill him early on
  • All in him past 6 if he is away from his turret
  • Try to save ignite for when he tries to mediate tank you
  • Use stop joke and decoy to waste as much time as you can if he is chasing you down with his ult and you can't fight back
  • If he is fed early on focus him down, if he is doing badly ignore him and kill his backline
  • A very few Yi can 1v1 you inside your ult so be careful about fighting him at that stage

VS

Miss Fortune

Easy

  • If she is laning against you simply play very aggressive and kill her early
  • If she is bot lane simply kill her anyway
  • You can use decoy to eat or block her double up
  • She can't escape you if you surprise her

VS

Mordekaiser

Easy

  • Beat him up for first blood and kills all game
  • Try to fight him when his W is down
  • Don't decoy recklessly as his E hits you in stealth and decoy counts as a champion giving him full shield bonus for hitting it effectively doubling his shield value
  • Focus him down in teamfights if he is doing well, ignore him if he's not
  • If he is fed 3139_32.png hard counters his ignite ult combo

VS

Morgana

Easy

  • Avoid jumping on her directly as it opens you up for a easy bind soil combo
  • Use minions to splash hit her with E at angles she does not expect
  • If shes proving hard to kill focus on farming and simply outperform her in teamfights
  • Her shields stops your ult from knocking her up but does not block any of your damage
  • If she is pushing super hard 3074_32.png can be a good item to rush

VS

Nami

Easy

  • Use your mobility to avoid her bubble
  • Try to kill her AD carry or AP before she can react
  • She's super squishy so sometimes it's a good idea to all in her instead as her ultimate is a very powerful disengage tool that can cut you off from reinforcements
  • Her heal / damage splash thing does not target you if you are in stealth
  • Her ult knocks you out of E if you get hit by it while dashing

VS

Nasus

Medium

  • He is a very easy laner to beat if you play aggressive early
  • Be careful and focused about his ganks as whiter can easily get you killed
  • Try to time decoy to make him whiter it
  • If you are laning against him use decoy when he whiters you and keep in mind that your Q is a auto attack reset that ignores attackspeed reduction
  • Avoid fighting him in a extended 1v1 where he can make the most use of his passive and Q
  • Ignore him in teamfights and kill his backline instead
  • If whiter is being problematic consider 3139_32.png or possibly 3009_32.png if he is a massive problem early on

VS

Nautilus

Easy

  • Block his hook with decoy
  • His base stats are super low early on, if you see him ganking you with around half health simply all in him and get free double buffs
  • His swing animations are very slow without attackspeed items, use decoy to reset them if you get hooked
  • Ignore him and kill his backline

VS

Nidalee

Easy

  • Play super aggressive early on and try to kill her with 2037_32.png
  • Block spears you can't dodge with decoy
  • All in her constantly past 6 when shes using cougar to farm (wait for her to use pounce then go in immediately)
  • Focus her in teamfights as her spears are super dangerous if shes ap
  • If she is splitpushing simply surprise all in her and get a kill

VS

Nocturne

Easy

  • Use decoy to deny him vision when he ults
  • If his Q hits you then using decoy does not do much as the trail will continue to show even if you are stealthed
  • Use good timing and trick him into fearing your decoy
  • If he gets a fear tether off on you try to E to minions or decoy just as it's about to go off to deny him vision of what direction you got feared into

VS

Nunu

Medium

  • Ward well and use decoy to eat his snowballs
  • If he catches you farm from your turret you will probably die or be forced to flash
  • Use your ult to interrupt his ult if he is fed or going ap
  • Avoid all-ining him when minions are nearby
  • Ignore him and focus his backline

VS

Olaf

Easy

  • Trade very hard early on with 2037_32.png
  • Try to get a kill early and snowball ahead of him
  • Dodge his Q as best as you can
  • Use decoy right after you E to eat his truedamage
  • Don't try to 1v1 a fed olaf as he will ignore your ult with his and lifesteal with his massive attackspeed passive
  • His damage is very high early on so be careful when trading
  • Ignore him in teamfights and kill his backline

VS

Orianna

Easy

  • Play hyper aggressive early with 2037_32.png
  • Don't let her poke you with auto attacks without answering back
  • Try to keep moving constantly and fake E's so she wastes Q or even W
  • If she slows you decoy to avoid auto attacks and more Q W combos by denying her vision
  • If she has 21.png focus on farming instead
  • All in her past 6 if she does not have barrier
  • Focus her down first in teamfights

VS

Pantheon

Easy

  • Trade hard early on with 2037_32.png
  • Try not to eat too many spears
  • Use decoy right after you E to make him waste his stun on it
  • Auto attack before you Q to knock his passive off
  • Even if he wins early trades or even kills you focus on farming and simply kill him with your superior ult in a 1v1 past 6
  • Ignore him for and focus his backline even if he is fed

VS

Poppy

Medium

  • Avoid fighting her early as she has very high tankyness and damage
  • Focus on farming up sustain items
  • Rush sustain and start fighting her once you have 1053_32.png1055_32.png
  • Try to time your decoy to eat her Q
  • Don't linger around walls or she will stun you
  • Avoid all-ining her as her passive makes it impossible to kill her unless you have massive damage
  • Ignore her in teamfights and focus her backline instead

VS

Quinn

Medium

  • If you are laning against her it's very important to play super aggressive and establish early lane dominance with 2037_32.png
  • Her dash/knockback breaks your dash so keep that in mind
  • Don't eat too many passive hits
  • Call for ganks if shes dominating you
  • Surprise all in burst her in teamfights and make sure you kill her before she can ult + botrk away or you will not catch her
  • Her aoe ult execute hits you in stealth

VS

Rammus

Medium

  • Use decoy as a wall to block his powerball if hes rolling towards you
  • Decoy as he bumps into you to make him taunt the decoy
  • If you get taunted in a gank you will most likely die
  • It's important to ward early against him and stay sharp
  • If he is exclusively making his job to taunt you every single fight a 3139_32.png is a good counter to that
  • Ignore him and focus his backline instead

VS

Renekton

Hard

  • Avoid fighting him all together and focus on farming
  • Decoy when he dashes on you to eat his stun
  • Trade only when he uses his stun on a minion or your decoy
  • You generally cannot win lane against him no matter what as his Q hits you in stealth
  • Consider roaming to other lanes past 6 to get kills
  • Ignore him and focus his backline in teamfights

VS

Rengar

Easy

  • Trade super hard at level 1 with 2037_32.png
  • If hes auto attacking minions early it means hes rushing for a level 2 kill
  • If he starts his ranged slow at level 1 start with E and jump on him, if he started Q then use your Q to stay outside it's range
  • Stay away from the bush until you have decoy, then use it as he leaps on you to do his Q > Q combo and make him waste it
  • If he wastes his double Q on your decoy he can't win trades no matter what
  • If you eat his double Q early you will probably die or be forced to play super safe
  • Surprise all in him past 6 for free kills
  • If he is randomly missing form lane keep your finger on decoy to prevent being instantly gibbed
  • If he is fed simply camp near your squishies in teamfigths and counter him with your full combo, if hes not fed simply kill his backline

VS

Riven

Medium

  • Use Q at level 1 to poke her
  • Every time she uses one of her abilities to farm or unsuccessfully harass you go in very hard and trade as much as you can
  • Use decoy to eat her Q and passive auto attacks
  • Generally whoever gets the first kill snowballs the lane
  • She can kill you past 6 if she has her cooldowns up but so can you, it comes down to who strikes first
  • Don't stay in lane after you blow all your cooldowns as she will flash all in you and kill you
  • Her aoe execute hits you in stealth
  • This is a pure skill matchup lane
  • If she is fed consider focusing her down first, if not kill her backline

VS

Rumble

Easy

  • Trade hard with him at level 1 with E and dodge his harpoons
  • Try to kill him pre 6 at least once
  • Rush 1055_32.png3144_32.png to keep yourself healthy in lane
  • Be careful around him past 6 as he can ult and kill you easily
  • All in him past 6 if he is pushing
  • Focus him first in teamfights

VS

Ryze

Medium

  • Trade super hard early and try to kill him with 2037_32.png
  • Use decoy to eat any of his spells, preferably his W
  • Try to deny him as much farm as possible
  • All in him past 6 if he is not getting armor items early
  • Focus him down in teamfights if hes not tanked up yet, ignore and kill his AD carry if he is
  • A fed Ryze will hardcarry and crush you with items so it's usually a race to end the game asap before he hits critical mass

VS

Sejuani

Medium

  • Use decoy to block her knock up
  • Her stun is aoe and hits you in stealth even if you block it with decoy
  • Both her W and E hit you in stealth so decoy is not that effective vs her
  • If she gets her debuff on you then you will probably not make it back to your turret without flashing
  • She's really strong 1v1 and can easily kill you if you are not careful
  • If shes being problematic 3139_32.png is a good item to consider
  • Ignore her and kill her backline in teamfights

VS

Shaco

Medium

  • Use early wards and pay attention to his orange smoke poofs
  • Use decoy to eat his backstab or simply deny him vision to auto attack you
  • If he decides to camp you play safe and buy a early 2043_32.png for added protection
  • Avoid all-ining him when hes splitpushing unless you have a 2043_32.png or 2042_32.png with you otherwise he will get away easily
  • It's usually best to ignore him and force teamfights when you see him somewhere else as it's a 4v5 and you excel at suddenly forcing bad fights for the enemy

VS

Shen

Hard

  • Focus entirely on farming as he is too tanky for you to kill at any point in the game
  • Rush 1055_32.png3144_32.png to keep yourself alive and healthy in lane against his vorpal harass
  • His taunt brings you out of stealth so decoying against him is only a good idea if you dodge to the sides
  • Use your ult to stop him from teleporting if you can
  • With enough items mid-lategame you can duel and kill him if he is splitpushing
  • Always keep in mind the additional shield he provides on a squishy, either all in and kill your target quickly so he has no time to react or immediately back off when you see the shield pop

VS

Shyvana

Easy

  • Try to not get caught far away from your tower when she ganks you

  • If he is using his shield to farm try to break it before it can go off
  • Ignore him in teamfights

VS

Sivir

Easy

  • Try to surprise her before she can spellshield
  • Her spellshield blocks your ult from knocking her up
  • You can usually kill her anyway

VS

Skarner

Easy

  • Try to time decoy to make him ult it
  • If hes giving you too much trouble consider a 3139_32.png
  • Ignore him in teamfights

VS

Sona

Easy

  • Easiest support to kill in the game
  • If her team has a lot of aoe cc consider a 3139_32.png

VS

Soraka

Hard

  • Try to either kill her first or surprise kill the AD or AP before she can react
  • Her 3222_32.png  + double heal is a very hard counter to you
  • She can seriously ruin your game with her heals and silence if she is good

VS

Swain

Medium

  • Kill him early with 2037_32.png
  • It's important that you are ahead of him when he gets his ultimate
  • Try to dodge or bait out his root before you go in
  • Decoy when you E on him to bait him into using his spells on it
  • You usually can't kill him past 6 without ignite
  • If he is fed focus him down first in teamfights, if not consider going for his backline as a swain that has no major items is usually not a threat

  • You can usually kill her early if you harass hard at levels 1-3 with 2037_32.png
  • Dodge to the sides immediately after E to avoid her knockback / stun
  • If you are even in lane and she gets a stun on you then you will probably die as her burst is very high, keep your eyes open past 6
  • If you are facing a good Syndra it's mandatory to rush 3155_32.png
  • In general a 3156_32.png is a very good item against her
  • If you all in her spin to the sides after you ult to avoid her knockback
  • It's usually best to focus her first in teamfights

VS

Talon

Easy

  • Fight him early with 2037_32.png
  • Abuse your superior early damage to get kills or lane control
  • Be careful about his rake as it gains levels and starts hurting a lot
  • If you are dominating him a 2043_32.png can help you keep killing him past 6
  • Try not to eat rakes past 6 as they tend to do a lot of damage and open you up to all-ins by him
  • If he is doing well consider killing him first in teafights
  • 3026_32.png is a very good item against him

VS

Taric

Easy

  • Use decoy to try and avoid his stun
  • You can usually kill his AD or AP carry before he has time to react and stun you
  • If he is part of a heavy cc team consider buying a 3139_32.png

VS

Teemo

Hard

  • Try to avoid trading with him pre 3 as he will outdamage you every time
  • Use bushes or simply stay back as much as possible before you get your full combo
  • Use decoy after E to hopefully bait his blinding dart and allowing you to Q and aa after
  • Ask your jungler to gank him or farm really hard and go all in past 6
  • A good Teemo will sit on mushrooms past 6 and make it impossible for you to kill him
  • Get a early 2043_32.png to keep the lane clear of mushrooms and a 2042_32.png later on to clean up baron
  • You can usually kill him easily past 6 if you have items and get a jump on him
  • Ignore him in teamfights unless hes the only person doing anything then focus him down
  • One of the hardest counters to Wukong in the game

TEETO PLS

VS

Thresh

Medium

  • Avoid going in a straight line when you initiate
  • Kill his AD / AP carry fast enough before he has the time to lantern save them, if he throws it try to block it with your model
  • Ban him not much else to say

VS

Tristana

Medium

  • If you are laning against her simply trade hard and kill her early with 2037_32.png
  • If she jumps on you use decoy to deny her auto attacks

VS

Twisted Fate

Medium

  • Try to waste his PAC time before going in so he can't gold card you
  • His early wildcards are very weak in damage don't be afraid to get him by them when you trade
  • It's important to either kill or make his life difficult pre 6
  • Push his tower super hard when he ults to other lanes
  • Using decoy the moment he comes out of his teleport is usually a solid way to make him goldcard your clone as he will most of the time click on you and target the clone instead
  • Try to kill him first in sieges of hes poking with wildcards or splitpushing
  • It's important to surprise him before he can react and goldcard you

VS

Twitch

  • Kill him or force him to back pre 6
  • Be very careful near him past 6, try to bait him into ulting your decoy
  • This is a skill matchup but it favors Wukong more as he has more raw damage early on
  • If he is fed simply wait for the fight to break out and counter him when he goes in on your backline, it's super important that you ult as he is doing his ult animation so he gets knocked up immediately as he comes out of it and cannot do more damage to detonate the mark for massive burst

How to play : Early game laning Back to Top

The key to playing Wukong early game is knowing what to do based on what champions you are facing. Look at the enemy teams composition and ask yourself these questions :

  • Who am I most likely going to face in lane?
  • How well does the enemy jungler do against me?
  • Are the enemy solo laners going to try a swap against me?
  • Who can I better snowball of?
  • Are the strong in laning or teamfights?
  • Should I try to end the game early or play safe and go for mid-late game?
  • What items should I get asap?
  • What is the enemy teams gameplan?
  • What is MY gameplan?

Knowing what to do is extremely important when playing Wukong early on, more so then other stages of the game because you are at your weakest without your key items. He is not a champion that has a safe laning phase or someone that can fall back on 1 strategy and do well no matter what. Wukong needs to adapt to the situation and try to come out on top with the highest possible farm or kills before the game transitions into mid game teamfight stage. How well you do during laning phase will directly impact how well you do in teamfights and lategame, unlike some champions such as Singed who can die multiple times but still be in the game because of proxy farming Wukong needs to either get really high farm or lots of kills to be able to do his job to his fullest when teamfights come rolling around. So it is extremely important that you go into laning phase with a solid plan and understanding of what you need to do instead of just banking on the enemy laner or team making mistakes and giving you free kills or free farm. With that said lets move on to the first major step you need to take in order to become a good Wukong player :

1) How to win laning phase : Pre-planning

There are many ways to set yourself up for a easy laning phase before the game even begins, preferably you want to do this in draft or ranked since you know what you are going against.

  • Use the right runes.
  • Use the right masteries.
  • Start with the right item.
  • Have the right gameplan.
For example you are in a ranked match and you just locked in Wukong. The enemy team is 8_64.png32_64.png51_64.png37_64.png and the last pick just locked in 54_64.png. Now using your brain the first thing you notice is that they have a ton of magic damage so obviously you take flat magic resist blues and yellows + 6 mr from defense tree because both 8_64.png and 54_64.png deal primarily magic damage in lane and outside it along with 32_64.png being purely magic damage as well. Either one of the solo laners you will face will poke you hard so sustain is a must, so obviously we take LS quints and AD reds to heal and last hit better along with 9/9/12 masteries for sustain, protection and easier last hitting. OK so we have runes and masteries covered, we are using 14.png4.png and now we think about what starting item we should take. Since we will trade a lot and need sustain we start with 2003_32.png2041_32.png2044_32.png , the ward will help keep us safe from 32_64.png who will try to gank us early with his bandage toss. Now lets think about how we should play during laning phase, because both 54_64.png and 8_64.png have no hard cc to combo with 32_64.png ganks pre 6 we should not be too cautious and can play aggressive early on. Who is easier to deal with? 54_64.png or 8_64.png? The answer is that they are both pretty tanky and have good sustain so it makes no difference who we go up against so try to get mid lane as it has less distance to the tower and is easier for Wukong to stay safe in with decoy stealth. If against 54_64.png we start with Q, if against 8_64.png we start E either way we max E and get decoy early on for protection from 32_64.png ganks as it can block his only hard cc pre 6. Ok, now what should we build early on? The enemy team is composed to strong laners and primarily magic damage so we come to the conclusion that we should rush a 3144_32.png for sustain and 3155_32.png for protection followed by 3134_32.png + 3275_32.png for cdr and damage. What is the enemy teams gameplan? They are strong laners but have no kill potential early so they will try to farm up hard and get their first major items before utilizing their very good teamfight composition to secure first dragon and most likely group for tower pushes. So you should farm hard, don't get pushed and avoid trying to fight them for the first dragon as they have superior ultimates and can ace your team outright snowballing the game in their favor. Their botlane 51_64.png and 37_64.png will be pushing constantly so you should look to lanegank them past 6 for free kills as 37_64.png is extremely squishy and 51_64.png will be most likely forced to waste 4.png21.png to survive. Because 32_64.png37_64.png and 8_64.png have really powerful aoe ultimates you should get a 3139_32.png this game as it will allow you to cleanse everything off if you ever do get caught in the combo. The enemy team has really strong initiation and front line in the form of 54_64.png8_64.png32_64.png so you should look to counter initiate on the fragile and vulnerable backline of 51_64.png and 37_64.png and take our the 51_64.png first as without her damage the front line is useless. You should look to farm hard and end the game during the mid-early late game period before the front line tanks up too much as is too hard for your team to handle when 8_64.png becomes a hard carry and 54_64.png gets enough damage to burst down your ad carry with his full combo.

The enemy teams gameplan : farm hard in lane, force early objectives, gain advantages in early teamfights and use strong ultimate combos to crush the enemy team in fast all in engages.
Your gameplan : farm hard in lane, get key items, don't let your tower get damaged too hard, don't fight for first dragon, push lanes, jump the backline the moment the enemy front line initiates, get 3035_32.png to help mop up front line after you kill the enemy back line. Be careful about 54_64.png saving his ult to peel you off the back line if you trash it too many times in teamfights.

This is just a example of what you should do in the picks or loading screen. This might seem really confusing and require a lot of game knowledge but it gets easier the more you do it and play the game. Even if you can't guess what the enemy team will do or how you should act just try to think about the most basic things like what a champion will do in laning phase, what he wants to achieve what his goals are etc. The most important aspect here is to THINK and try to at least formulate some kind of plan before you actually go out into the field. The better your plan the higher your chances of winning. Obviously in most cases not everything will go according to plan but the simple aspect of actually going into a game knowing what to do can serve to boost your confidence at the very least. Not knowing what to do just going with the flow is asking to put you at the mercy of rng and that's something you never want to happen as we always want strive to win every game. That being said let's take a look at what we can do when shit hits the fan and things go the opposite direction :

2) How to win laning phase : Adapting to the situation

Another really important aspect to winning early game is adapting on the fly. Things can get really chaotic, really fast and it's up to you to not choke and keep it cool. Let's take the above example and spice it up a bit :

51_64.png and 37_64.png are dominating your bot lane, they got first blood and another kill on your teams support soon after. Things are getting out of hand and your jungler is powerless in this situation as he got invaded by the whole enemy team and denied one of the two major buffs. What do we do? Rush 6, tell your jungler to go hold your lane so he catches up in farm and experience but make sure you harass your lane down before you leave to make it look like you simply went back to buy items to dominate him harder and your jungler just happened to pass by to hold lane. Go lanegank the 51_64.png and 37_64.png with the help of your team and secure some kills or give them to your ad carry. If you killed both of them tell your jungler and mid to come down for a dragon as the enemy team can't really stop you 3v5/4. Ok so you fixed the situation bot lane but now your top lane is farmed and ahead of you in levels, ask your mid lane to swap with you or just play safe and catch up. But oh no! Your bot lane died again and seem to be complete morons that can't play safe even when they are even after your gank. Ask them to go top and go bot lane 2v1 while asking your jungler to help you by ganking and killing them or sending them back. OR if the bot lane refuses to cooperate push top hard or ask the jungler to come gank and push the tower down. With the tower down convince your bot lane ad carry to go top and simply free farm while you take bot lane on. Either way do everything you can do damage control the situation and come out ahead. If all else fails then simply push your lane and try to kill the champion you are against every time you see the enemy jungler elsewhere. Remember, indecision is failure and you can fix any situation if you act fast enough it's all about knowing how to act that's the hard part.

Being able to quickly adapt to any situation on the fly is a crucial part of being a good player. Feeding? Analyze what you are doing wrong and play safer. Team feeding? Analyze what you can do to stop them from feeding or how you can get ahead hard enough to make it not matter. Game spiraling out of control? Try to think up a way to make a powerplay and push it in your favor. Remember there is always something you can do no matter what the situation is even if all lanes are feeding, simply not giving up and just trying can be enough to win in some cases as the enemy team might make a mistake and give you a window to come back into the game. Keep farming, keep getting kills and keep taking objectives if you can't take objectives or kill anyone simply farming is enough too. As long as you are getting money you are getting items and as long as you are getting items you are in the game even if you are the only one in the game it's all that matters as Wukong can hardcarry 1v5 in almost all cases.

Early game laning phase is pretty much all about picking the right runes, masteries and items along with knowing what to do against a enemy laner and his teamcomp. If you can do this and adjust to any sudden changes that happen you can easily get past laning phase without a hitch and be well on your way to Wukongs most powerful stage of the game : midgame. But before we get to that let's recap what we have learned so far :

  • Have a basic or detailed plan before the game begins, even if it's a super simplistic one all that maters is that you have a plan and know what you want to do. Going into a game blind is asking to lose.
  • Be ready to adapt to any sudden changes that are bound to happen during the laning phase and try to come out on top whenever possible. It's really important that you prioritize getting yourself fed and farmed over getting someone else on your team to that status. Wukong is a carry not a support champion.
  • Try to help your team whenever possible but only do so if you have something to gain in the process. Do not go out your way to help your team if it will cost you significant amount of farm or potential kills as both of you will end up in a bad spot as opposed to only your team mate.
  • Remember that even if your team is doing badly you can still carry a game as long as you are farming and getting kills. A farmed or fed Wukong can act as a one man army and singlehandedly bring his team back in the game.

Early game tips Back to Top

Here are some guidelines on what you should do when you are behind or when you are ahead as even if you are doing great all it takes is one bad decision and your advantage is flushed down the toilet along with (in most cases) your elo.

If you are doing badly and how to get back in the game :

1) Vision

A really important part of playing Wukong is having vision, without vision you don't know when you are being ganked where people are heading and when you can stealth up and kill someone. I'm not talking about next level stuff like buying a sightstone or something like that, just 1-2 every time you back is enough. Everyone should ward, you are no exception. Ward your sides, the jungle, in the middle of mid lane if the enemy laner is pushing etc. Vision wins games, if you are losing the best way to come back is to get vision. If the enemy is clearing vision then you either need to counter with pinks of your own or get a oracle / ask your support to get one. Either way having vision is very important.

2) Gank other lanes

Wukong is one of the best lane gankers in the game especially if the enemy is pushing. If you are doing poorly in your lane consider going bot and trying to get a double kill. If you have your ult and ignite up someone is probably going to die. Simply wait for them to push or if you want to bush gank buy a pink ward or ask the support to deward it. Then simply stealth up E Q R ignite either the support or ad carry whichever you think is more likely to die. Always try to knock up both the support and ad carry with your ult but spend most of your time near the target you want dead instead of trying to distribute the damage between the two. Laneganking also works really well on lanes with no escapes or when you are ganking for someone that has hard cc such as 13_64.png for example. Always make sure you let your lane know in advance that you are coming with both "on the way" pings and text, ask what summoners the enemy has up and if they think you can kill the enemy laner. Always try to go for squishy early game champions like supports and mages. It doesn't matter who you kill as long as you get the gold for it. Sometimes it's a good idea to camp a lane constantly for free money. Just the prospect that you came down and killed while the enemy top laner didn't say anything or come down himself is enough to get the enemy team raging at eachother and giving you more time to pull ahead.

3) Swap

This is a really simple solution but it can sometimes really work in your favor. Simply as your mid or top to swap with you if you are doing badly in your lane, even if it means the person who you swaped with getting crushed by your fed lane. Remember as long as you are farming you are working towards winning how you get there does not matter. Nobody cares about what happened when you swapped with them if you end up winning the game in the end.

4) Play safe

Sometimes it's best to just back off and wait for the enemy laner to get bored or impatient. Even if you lose 6-10 cs in the process the 30 you gain after he takes your tower or pushes up to it and goes back is more then worth it. Even if your lane is roaming it doesn't matter, keep farming and keep getting items you will come back and fix everything soon after anyway.

5) FARM!

I parrot this one a lot but that's because it's so important for Wukong. Farm anything you can : the jungle, your lane, someone elses lane, enemy champions that are already feeding. It doesn't matter, just keep farming. If you can't win lane then simply let the lane push and last hit under tower. If you are being dived or camped by jungler just go farm jungle or gank another lane. Most junglers or laners will get bored of freezing and just push to get your tower and roam. This is exactly what you want, even if your other lanes suffer it does matter because you are farming. As long as you are farming you are getting your items and as long as you are getting your items there is a chance to win. A farmed Wukong WILL carry a team all by himself mid-early lategame.

If you are winning :

1) Vision

Just because you are winning does not mean you should stop warding, the biggest mistake most players make when they are fed is not buying wards anymore because they feel powerful. Having a bounty on your head because you are fed is a big magnet for the enemy team, a magnet you don't want to give up. Always buy 1-2 wards every time you back, not only do they warn you about incoming ganks but they also help you get more kills because you know where the enemy is. Seeing a lone mage going for blue is a free blue and kill for you. Always ward your part of the map and if you are roaming dragon or baron even if nobody else is warding.

2)  Know your strength

Knowing how much you can take on is key to playing Wukong when you are ahead, sometimes is best to just turn around and kill the people ganking you or pushing your lane. Other times you just need to run and stay back. There is no real way to tell you exactly when you should fight and when you should run it's all based on whats going on in the particular game and is something you will learn to know the more you play Wukong. In general you should probably fight squishy champions when they gank you if you have your cooldowns up as you can usually blow the ganker to pieces before he has time to react. If you are being charged at by full health tanks then it's best to back off and not waste cooldowns. This all depends on the game and how fed you are, obviously a 15 kills Wukong with 4/6 core should never give a damn about anything and can usually kill half the enemy team if he wants to even if he dies in the process. Use your own judgement in this case but if you are not sure then it's always best to stay safe and back off preventing the kill bounty form going to the enemy team.

3) Force objectives when ahead

Because a fed Wukong early-mid game is such a monster you should ALWAYS force tower pushes, dragons and teamfights if you get kills and lots of farm early. You alone with even 2/6 your core can take down the support, ap and ad carry all by yourself without any assistance this should be incentive enough to tell your team "ok lets do this you guys keep hitting it while I go kill everything". I win most of my games this way if I get a few kills early on in lane and have my cooldowns up. Just tell your team to gather up, sit on the side and go in on the squishies in the back when the enemy team shows up to stop your team from doing dragon. In order to do this you must properly use decoy to get in range and unleash your combo instantly, if you mess it up then you might be in trouble. In general you killing 2-3 people over your team getting killed is worth it because you are even more ahead now and in the next fight will kill the back line even faster and be there to save your front / back line in time.

Another trick I like to use it to tell my team to group up, push mid or any other lanes tower while I keep back in the distance and wait to see what the enemy team does. In like 90% of the cases they have their initiator come out and think hes starting a easy 4v5 for his team, while hes going in i stealth up past the action and jump on the backline that comes joining into the fight. So what happens is I kill the enemy backline instantly, my team kills the enemy teams initiator because he's cut off all of a sudden and everything falls apart for the enemy team in general as you clean up and get the tower on top of the kills to propel you ahead even harder. You can use this strategy with every objective really as it's so easy for Wukong to slip past the front line and unleash his massive damage at a moments notice on the squishy targets that deal all the damage for the enemy team. This is only made better by the fact that you actually cc them with a cc that can't be reduced by tenacity so they can't cleanse or use abilities to get out of it and are forced to eat half the duration every time.

4) Concentrate on the most threatening enemy

If you won your lane hard and know that you can easily roam and kill everything that stands in your way it's usually a good idea to go for the enemy champion or lane that you think will give you the most trouble in the future as the game goes on. Like for example you beat the enemy 238_64.png that was laning against you 3-0, while the enemy top 13_64.png is doing really well against your 131_64.png. Simply tell your Diana to go against the zed while you go against the Ryze, since you are a lot more fed then he is you will make short work of him and shut down their solo lanes completely. In some cases the person you sent against the laner you shut down will feed him/her anyway but its usually not enough to bring them back in the game. If this is the case quickly push the tower down and go help your team mate out and push that tower down too. After force objectives as mentioned above, you can also tell the person that's doing the worst on your team to simply go farm a lane you took the tower in as most people will not push without a tower behind them and either roam or play really safe allowing the person you sent up there to farm and get back in the game. You can also apply this tactic to bot lane, simply gank the lane and kill the enemy laners then tell your ad carry to go farm mid or top while you keep dragon under control with the support. In most cases your ad carry can keep free farming while you use your superior early-mid game to outright 1v5 the enemy team. If the enemy team keeps following and ganking the person you sent to farm another lane simply use him as a live bait and countergank for free kills, nobody ever sees it coming.

If the game is even :

1) Ward

Yep its this one again and I'm going to repeat it until you buy 1-2 wards every time you back. Ward your lane and ward major objectives if nobody else is. Vision is the most important part of winning a game, keep it up and spread it out. Especially if you are looking to make plays as it will let you know when someone is alone and ripe for a ambush. Always buy wards, the whole game and always keep 1 slot open for wards until late lategame when you have 6 items.

2) Use vision to ambush lone targets

This one is directly tied to the above, ward up and strike at targets of opportunity. That enemy mid going for blue? Follow him and all in kill him when he walks back to his lane between the blue and his tower. Enemy support going to ward dragon? Ambush and kill him. Enemy jungler came to gank, didn't find you there because you where hididng and waiting for him to recall? Go in the moment hes gone and catch the enemy laner off guard for a potential kill. Vision is everything, knowledge is power and with power you can dictate how the game goes. If you keep warding and picking people off you will sway the game in your favor.

3) Make powerplays

Wukong is THE playmaker master. Your all in combo can seriously crush everything and give your team a massive lead if you execute it well. Wait for a dragon, pick the right time to go in and give your team that perfect 4/5 man initiation that they always dreamed about and bam you just aced the enemy team because your ult messed everything up and they didn't  even see it coming. Your bot lane being pushed by 4? Probably a towerdive, stealth it as they start the dive and lock the whole enemy team up in a knock up while they eat towershots and give you kills. A good Wukong ult at the right time wins whole games, you alone can make a difference. Always look for openings where you can make a big play, Wukong is one of the best champions for this purpose.

4) Make calls if nobody else is

Every team needs a leader and sometimes you have to step up and just do it. Even if you don't know how, use basic logic and you will most likely not make a bad call. Call MIA's for other lanes, ping people back when you think they might get ganked, tell your team to group and push when you think it's the right time. Even if you do end up making the wrong calls you can learn from the experience and not do it again next time. Not only will this help you better and faster learn the game it will also teach you to think twice before important decisions as I'm sure everyone reading this likes winning. A good call + a good ult from a Wukong wins games hands down.

With all that said let's move on to the midgame section where the real fun begins.

READ THIS FOR WHAT I CURRENTLY USE Back to Top

Because season 4 is changing a lot of the core fundamentals of the game I'm going to completely overhaul this guide once all the updates settle in.

CURRENT MASTERIES, RUNES AND BUILD I USE :

Masteries :

wukong masteries.jpg

Both utility and defense tree got crushed as 9 pointers, the only really useful stuff you can get from utility is 3 mana regen now. I will keep doing numbers and studying the most optimal build but so far it seems full offense is the way to go.

Runes :

I use armor pen reds, flat ad quints, flat armor yellows and scaling / flat magic resist with one crit blue most of the time.

I also use full armor pen quints and reds as well when I want to max armor pen out.

MY CURRENT BUILD IS :

FLASK + potions and ward / RED POT START > BRUTALIZER > BASIC BOOTS > LAST WHISPER > CDR BOOTS > GHOSTBLADE > 2nd BRUTALZIER > CUTLASS > BLADE OF THE RUINED KING > BLACK CLEAVER > 6TH ITEM OF CHOICE I USUALLY GET A BT

IF JUNGLING : RUSH SPIRIT OF THE ELDER LIZARD FIRST THEN BUILD THE ABOVE STARTING FROM BRUTALIZER

IF YOU ARE FACING LOTS OF BURST MAGIC DAMAGE GET A EARLY HEXDRINKER
IF YOU ARE HAVING SUSTAIN PROBLEMS GET CUTLASS OR JUST THE VAMP SCEPTER EARLY
IF YOU ARE FACING LOTS OF HARD CC OR ULTS LIKE VLAD, MALZA, MORG ETC GET A MERCURIAL

DO NOT BUILD A HYDRA ITS COST INEFFICIENT ON WUKONG IF YOU ARE BEING PUSHED HARD BY A TOP LANER AND NEED TO CLEAR MINIONS SIMPLY MAX DECOY 2ND AND 2SHOT WAVES

I USE IGNITE FLASH IF I LANE AND SMITE FLASH IF I JUNGLE

IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS YOU CAN ALWAYS ADD ME INGAME AND ASK THEM DIRECTLY
