Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png This summoner's spell is required. It's very usefull to engage-disengage. May save your life during the laning phase and may help you secure a kill on enemy. THIS spell is awesome to initiate a teamfight, to benefit from your passive and your CC through Cyclone, your R.

14.png Required against sustain characters.

3.png Against high burst damage characters and with the mastery summoner's wrath  works very well with your E,Q, Autoattack, Q, Exhaust, R combo.

21.png It might work, i still have to test this summoner's spell but with your passive should work fine imo.

12.pngSituational, but works perfectly against heavy pusher or roamer. May work if you can predict that you may win your lane easier and push the enemy lane so much, so you can teleport > gank enemies!

You can run Flash Teleport against enemies that you can control in lane easier or which tends to PUSH your lane harder. Why?
In the first case, you can push the lane > teleport and roam to get objectives!
In the second one, you can prevent the enemy top to do the plan on the first case, and i mean that if he pushes the lane and you see him going bot you simply Teleport over there and GO, Cyclone! That is quite a good strategy!

Runes Back to Top

  • 9x
+0.95 attack damage Greater Mark of Attack Damage
  • 3x
+1.34 magic resist Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
  • 6x
+0.16 magic resist per level Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
  • 9x
+1 armor Greater Seal of Armor
  • 3x
+2.25 attack damage Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage

That is what i recommend. Wukong's skills has a high AD Ratio. Your ulti benefits really well with Flat AD.

Also your Q it's perfect to harrass your opponent, having a good AD in early game could help you really well.

~ Flat armor, you kinda need it if you want to win trades.

~ Flat magic resist and Magic resist per level, well: 4 Magic resist early game are fine for you if you're gonna face an AD character, with your Passive you'll have enough magic resist near the enemy team while using Cycle and this will help you preventing to be a piece a butter.

You can use different setups: For example, Wukong is an awesome Counterpick mid. His burst is way too high for AP squishy casters. Change your runes appropriately if going mid, i suggest this setup for Magic resist on glyphs but you may need the help of TWO magic resist quintessences if facing a burst AP Caster, keep that in mind.

You can also play flat MR on glyphs if you feel like you'll go against someone which may harrass you early with low CD

Utility: 0

That is what i have in my mind. Wukong needs damage, you can go tanky though your build and it will compensate your mid-late game statistics. You need to harrass your opponent often but wisely, dont harrass your opponent if you have your Decoy(W) on cooldown, it's your way to juke him/them due to your Decoy and your S.

When you're gonna get ganked, try to escape into a direction, then press S. You will notice that Wukong will stop moving, simulating the animation of Decoy(W) in this way, you can wait them going into a brush looking for you and at this point you can save your life without wasting Decoy(W). If well used, you can kite them multiple times.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LUrpF2w9As <-
That's the way! Keep practice about this, it's your way to survive and to confuse them! ;)

Tanky Masteries:
You can follow this path in few situations, imo. That's a pretty nice alternative, i've been testing it and it works, but your build should be a little more brusier-like.
Masteries updated.png
All these masteries synergizes so well with your passive, you can change between Hardiness and Resistance duo to your lane opponent. I prefer Wukong as 21/9/0 but this different path of masteries may help you in "rare" situations against heavy CC teams, or when you have to tank more than usual.

So

Q is your way to Harrass your opponent, lowering his Armor and giving you the chance to burst him down. Use it everytime before using your ulti on your "main target". That's why you need it at level 1, especially now that Wukong's Q got buffed and has an increased attack range.

Your W it's your life, as i previously said, you dont need to max it since it has no damage but has a very HIGH part in your playstyle. It is your choice: if you want to prevent early gank and play a bit defensively till you won't feel in the mind to harrass then take W at level 2, if you're sure they won't gank you(I dont know, maybe you did invade with your team and stole the starter buff from your enemy jungler and you know he's not coming till 5-6 minutes, take E instead to be more aggressive.)

E is your way to win trades, use it wisely. It gives you enough attack speed which, combined with your Q let you destroy your enemy's health!

R. THAT'S AWESOME. A mofocking monkey spinning around into the teamfight like a Cyclone and throwing everyone in the air, disabling them for a short time. THIS. IS. AWESOME.
Keep in mind, while using Cyclone(R) your movespeed will start to increase second after second, use it to reach the targets you want to reach, to protect an ally or simply in really BAD(and i mean APOCALYPTIC situations when you have no Decoy(W) and where you're sure that with a bit of movespeed you can avoid a certain death!) use it to escape just in those really bad situations, but dont forget this is your main CC and you need to place it very well into the teamfight to let your Team follow you while disrupting the entire enemy team!

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

OLD STARTUP: Mobility and HP pots
1 Ward, 2 blue pots and fill the rest with red potions!
AT YOUR FIRST RECALL GET THIS IF YOU ARE IN DISADVANTAGE RUSH A BRUTALIZER
1 per recall if you're TOP. 2 if MID.
GET THESE IF FACING AD CHAMPIONS AND THEY WONT HAVE ENOUGH CC
GET THESE IF YOU'RE FACING AP CHAMPIONS OR WHEN YOUR ENEMIES HAS A LOT OF CCs
STRANGE SETUP TOP: WORKS IF YOU PLAN TO BUILD THIAMAT or a warmog: 1 Rejuvination bead, 5 red pot(or 4 red pot and 1 blue) and one ward! Makes your lane safe for early and you should be fine!
STRANGE SETUP MID: WORKS IF YOU PLAN TO BUILD THIAMAT or a warmog: 1 Rejuvination bead, 3 red and 2 blue and one ward! Makes your lane safe for early and you should be fine
Flask and 3 pots! Or if you want and you are top, flask, 1 ward and 1 potion!(wait 15g near the fountain and buy then go head in your lane, you wont lose exp or such just get used to this strategy :P)

Core Items

    Offensive
Against high AP team comp those items are what you need!
Sustain: Choose 1 item of this 2 adapting to your enemy team composition. The new BOTRK is actually awesome on Wukong, get it against champion which will stack HP! ;)
Defensive: Choose one of those two if you need armor and an awesome active passive or AOE damage!
You want to be more like an assassin? Get this after Black Cleaver!
Mid-Late item. Amazing in teamfight. Will increase your damage output. DON'T FORGET TO USE ITS ACTIVE EVERY 10 SECOND to push or while focusing an enemy champion!
    Standard Build TOP
Standard Build AP mid You can replace the MAW with the Spirit Visage just in case

Situational Items

If your team has 3 AD champions and want to help them, that is something i would aim for.
It might be good in strange situations, if you got to go more tanky that's what you need. Especially if you face 3 more AD Champions!
If you need to play defensive in your base get one of those.
I tried this item, if it wasnt for the AP, i'd for sure put this on core build. Works situationally!NO mallet? No CC? Get this! I prefer this instead of Trinity, now Trinity nerfed and too expansive, imo.
If you're way far ahead then your opponent, that is a great way that will let you move easily into the teamfights. If an opponent could build a Blade of the Ruined king, don't get this item.
ARE YOU UNDER ATTACK and you have to fight your enemies deep into your base? Try those!

So, that's my explanation.

Wukong sinergyzes really well with those equip, depending on your team and the enemy team composition you can adapt to the situation. He's very versatile under this point of view.

~ I personally think that a BIT of lifesteal is required on wukong, may help him in the early-mid trades.

My build order is getting 1 doran's blade as fast as possible then a Vampiric scepter, which gives you AD now and you gain Hp per every auto-attack.
Your objective now is to earn AD but getting a bit tanky with it, so if you want to start with a Phage if you need to kite or chase your opponent.
Get a Brutalizer if you're really in advantage or if you want to burst away your enemy, kick him off the lane or to secure a free kill with your main combo.

WHICH IS:

Q, Autoattack, E,Autoattack, autoattack, R.

Sometimes, if you engage an enemy which has a single target CC like Silence, Stun, whatever, you may need to kite them so the combo will change in something like this:

Q, W(Decoy) , kiting them away or move around them dodging their skill and then, E, autoattack and R!

REMEMBER:

Your Decoy is your way to escape or to engage(Be sure they have no oracle or it will be a throw for you and your team, dont use it if you're not sure they have NO oracle) If you waste your Decoy to engage, then you have to be sure your team is gonna follow you or the enemy team will focus you and, in case you have no flash or ways to escape, you'll be DEAD. SO use it wisely, choose between using Decoy(W) to engage or to disengage . If the situation is good, Engage with E, use Q on your target and then R and throw him in the air, letting you or your team mates to shut down your focused target! ;)

Tips about WARDS:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl-NUlulvgY <- Video
2044_64.png2043_64.png
If you're going aggressive and your jungler is ganking your enemy top often, a pink ward may help you counterwarding, try to place a Sight Ward in the tribush if you're blue side or near the exit from their blue if you're purple side.  In this way you'll know when and where your enemy will place a Ward. Place a Vision Ward and counter ward him, so you can be really more aggressive.

Standard build TOP:I usually get Black cleaver first and then rush a bloodthirster, that will give you enough damage for mid game. Then rush a Sunfire and a lastwhisper, last item it's up to you. If you've got enough damage, go for randuin and be useful to your teammates!

Standard build MID: This build is strange. If you get alot of damages, i'd suggest to get an hexdrinker first, but if you manage to get the advantage against your enemy, RUSH a Bloodthirster and you'll see: You'd be probably able to E+ aa+ Q+ AA + R and shot him in a second :) so in order: Bloodthirster or hex, depending if you are doing well or no, then mercury tread, Get a giantbelt and then complete the warmog right after you've finished the Last whisper. You can choose between complete your Hexdrinker or no , if the burst is too high go for it, if you want to be useful to your allies, get a Bulwark or a spirit visage and both will help you a lot!

VS

Aatrox

Medium

Such a hard enemy for Wukong! You need to prioritize your E to beat this guy in lane, you can be extremely bully early game after the first wave. Wait your E , and use it! E, AA>AA> Q>AA and then retreat. Wait cooldowns and repeat, be sure to have your lane warded and destroy this guy early game, because he dominate mid-late game! You're Wukong, use your Crushing blow and your E to destroy this guy, if he gives you so many problems, think about building "Executioner Calling" 3123_32.pngit is extremely useful against this guy!

VS

Ahri

Easy

Use your decoy to let your clone get Charmed by ahri's E.

VS

Akali

Medium

Remember she's really squishy early game and before level 6 you have to shut her down, try to force her out of the lane to reach level 6 before she does.

VS

Alistar

Medium

Tough, a cc machine which will try to throw you away everytime you initiate, be sure he has no W or it'll be a problem

VS

Amumu

Easy

If he jumps on your team mates, jump on your enemy team AD carry or AP carry to prevent them attacking yours.

VS

Anivia

Medium

Just a bit tough after level 6, remove her egg and be aggressive(ward both side of the river)

VS

Annie

Easy

So squishy, wait that she will waste her stun(after 4 spells) and harrass her till death :)

VS

Ashe

Medium

She can kite you so much, use your decoy to counter engage her Arrow-Ulti and that will definetely help you and your team!

VS

Blitzcrank

Easy

*Grab* Oh noooes, i has a decooooyz for ya.

VS

Brand

Easy

NEVER use decoy and attack brand if your clone isnt popped out already. His ulti may rape your butt , so just use decoy to engage and burst him, let him waste his Q and beat him!

VS

Caitlyn

Medium

Be aware to let your decoy parry caitlyn's E(her NET) and it'll be fine

VS

Cassiopeia

Easy

She's squishy, dont get poked by her Q and whenever she uses her W, dodge it and jump on her, her E wont be that effective!

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

You've got an advantage in early, he's mana dependant and he waste so much mana. It's your time to get advantage ;)

VS

Corki

Medium

His Valkirye(W) gives him a good position in team fight, hard to catch, if you reach him you'll destroy him with your combo!

VS

Darius

Medium

You've got a nice burst early, use your decoy to disengage and keep harrassing him when he last hit and has his Q in cooldown!

VS

Diana

Medium

Dodge her Q and you'll be fine, let her push early game so it will be easier for you to kill her with the help of your jungler. Her shield is tough, but you can kill her with a bit of patience. Also, if you get caught with her Q, use your decoy if you predict she's gonna jump on you with her R, that will ruin her combo

VS

Dr. Mundo

Hard

Much sustain, high damage, high mobility. Ignore him and focus someone elses in teamfight, if you have your ignite and mundo uses his ulti under 40% of Hp, use IGNITE and focus him harder.

VS

Draven

Easy

He has nothing to stop Wukong except his E.
Your combo will be fine to shut him down while ganking.

VS

Elise

Easy

She has good pokes, but she's squishy. Play defensively and if you have no minions around you, when she's in spider form and jumps in the air use your Decoy to force her attacking it and avoiding her damage, then the kill will be yours.

VS

Evelynn

Easy

Squishy early, harrass with your Q and your E. Should be easier ;)

VS

Ezreal

Medium

A bit harder if he has Phage already, try to doge his Q and dont waste your E jumping on him if his E its not in cooldown.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

Squishy, Jump on him with E and remember to dont pop out while stealth and your decoy is activated or the crows will jump on you multiple times. Avoid his fear and his drain with your decoy.

VS

Fiora

Easy

Dont waste your Q against her immediatly, wait that she'll activate her Parry(W) or she'll reflect your damage back to you. When she ult's and use R, use decoy so KEEP YOUR DECOY for that situation or her damage will destroy you.

VS

Fizz

Medium

Use decoy to defend yourself from his R(SHAAAAAAAARK!)

VS

Galio

Easy

Keep your ulti and whenever he does his R, use your R and flash or walk into him to prevent your foes to be tauned for too long!

VS

Gangplank

Easy

Let him harrass you and wait he waste his mana early game: Then jump on him and beat him harder.

VS

Garen

Medium

Dont let Garen use his Passive or you already lost the lane :)

IF he use his Q during the animation press decoy and he will silence your clone, turn back and beat him, do it again till he waste his W and then harrass him harder. (Use your decoy for his R also.)

VS

Gragas

Medium

Never jump on him in teamfights, his ulti may throw you far away.(lol) Just poke him and decoy to get back

VS

Graves

Medium

Whenever his smokescreen(W) is on cooldown, jump on him and shut him down, use decoy to confuse him if you have low HP to dodge his ulti or to decrease its damage.

VS

Hecarim

Hard

Your terror in the enemy jungle, if you use your W(decoy) effectively you may dodge his ganks but whenever you see him using his Ult, activate yours to knock him in the air and run away whenever's possible.

VS

Heimerdinger

Medium

Jump on him and his two turrets if there are near him, and ULT immediatly or in the case his turrets will remain alive, they may deal you tons of damages.

VS

Irelia

Hard

No, just no. Don't even try. /FF@20. (lol jk)

VS

Janna

Hard

Her ulti and her Q are really tough for you, try to make her waste her skills with your burst damage but she can defend her team pretty well.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

He's strong, you are too. Don't waste your mana.

IF he ults you use decoy and use minions nearby to go out from Cataclysm.

VS

Jax

Medium

You can trade againt Jax only in early-mid. Use your decoy whenever he tries to stun you and disengage, then Q and go back. Repeat

VS

Jayce

Medium

Whenever his Hammer's E is on cooldown harrass him. Dont get poked by his Q, you may dodge it because whenever he use his E then he will shoot his Q. Unfortunately, good Jayce's players use their Q and then they use their E to surprise their enemies.

VS

Jinx

Medium

Jinx. Such a strong enemy champion, be sure to properly use your decoy to protect you from her W and don't get caught by her E(3 traps) all you've gotta do is to keep her busy during the teamfight to prevent her focusing your allies and get assists/kills or your team could be melted! I suggest you to build a Randuin's Omen against her and a Ravenous Hydra which gives you extra output damage and help your burst damage against her!

VS

Karma

Medium

VS

Karthus

Easy

Squishy. Dont stay on his E while he's dead or it'll be a problem

VS

Kassadin

Easy

Harrass him harder before he gets 6, ward his blue and try to steal it with the help of your jungler. You need to harrass him a lot before he gets 6 because at this point he may roam a bit to get kills if he can't kill you.

VS

Katarina

Easy

She's squishy , same thing as kassa.

VS

Kayle

Medium

She can kite you so well, she has sustain, slow and a strong ulti. You'll need the help of your jungler after she get 6 and she has ulti. Never NEVER fight her if she has her R.

VS

Kennen

Medium

He can poke you really well, try to stay defensive to let your jungler gank him as soon as possible

VS

Kha'Zix

Medium

Whenever he jumps on you use Decoy to prevent his Q burst damage, then turn back and fight him, he's squishy with a high output damage.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy

Dont let yourself caught by his E if he has red buff, in other situations jump on him and burst him!

VS

LeBlanc

Easy

Squishy. Rape her before she gets 6

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

Nope. His kit counters Wukong completly.
Edit: Lee sin was "recently" nerfed. I mean: His W doesnt give him armor anymore, that makes lee sin a medium encounter!

VS

Leona

Hard

CC machine, can defend her teammates very well. Dont fight her.

VS

Lissandra

Easy

She's such a good mid champion, but anyway you've got everything you need. Your E > aa> Q > aa combo works pretty well. All you have to do is to use your decoy to prevent getting focused and targetted by Lissandra's R. She got really good pokes, your AD should be enough for her, cause she's so squishy!

VS

Lucian

Medium

Lucian seems like a high champion to catch for Wukong. In teamfight, you should use your E against Lucian only when he wasted his dash already. When you see Lucian using his W to mark you, simply press decoy to prevent getting caught so he will get the movespeed buff tho, but you won't get the mark in the case he will focus you after your stealth phase.

It's not a hard carry to focus, but his great mobility help him a bit against Wukong. I rate him as Medium.

VS

Lulu

Medium

Her slow, her polymorph are really strong and can put yourself in bad situations if you jump in the wrong moment into the teamfights. Wait the right moment.

VS

Lux

Hard

High range skills, shield, slow and snare. A bit hard to play against.

VS

Malphite

Medium

Dont let him regain his passive every 10 seconds. He has low mana early, make him waste it on your decoy and jump on him, your Q will destroy him.
Don't let him farm that much and try to zone him because a Farmed malphite can destroy wukong or make senseless his aggressive lane.

VS

Malzahar

Hard

No Hexdrinker or QSS? No, don't fight him

VS

Maokai

Medium

Use your decoy to prevent he jumps on you with his W.

VS

Master Yi

Easy

Squishy, if he uses his W stop attacking him and go back. Harrass him when his W it's on cooldown

VS

Miss Fortune

Easy

Squishy, no escape.

VS

Mordekaiser

Easy

Beat him early game, it'll be fine.

VS

Morgana

Medium

No shield? R*PE HER

VS

Nami

Medium

VS

Nasus

Medium

Woof. Punish him whenever he tried to last-hit with his Q. Use yours and force him to waste mana using his slow to stop you harrassing.

VS

Nautilus

Easy

Use decoy to prevent getting caught by his anchor

VS

Nidalee

Medium

High sustain, poke ,ranged and strong damages. You need your jungler before she gets 6

VS

Nocturne

Medium

Don't fight him over his Q, dont use your skills when his shield is up or he will crash you. "Daaaaarknesssss!" k, use decoy and run away.

VS

Nunu

Medium

Perma slow. Care about him cause your attack speed will fall to hell

VS

Olaf

Medium

Dodge axes, poke him and go back. Dont fight him 1vs1 unless you're into a big advantage. Your decoy can be used to dodge his E but its a hard lane, ask your jungler to help a bit

VS

Orianna

Medium

She has good skills, jump on her when she has everything on cooldown or her ulti in cooldown.

VS

Pantheon

Easy

Don't use your Q on his shield(passive) waste the shield and then nuke him with your Q!
REMEMBER: After he use his W, he will get back his shield, autoattack ONCE before using your Q or the damage will be wasted!

VS

Poppy

Hard

It's rare to meet a strong poppy player... but don't risk to get stomped by poppy, she's strong. NEVER understimate Poppy!

VS

Quinn

Easy

Basically, you can handle Quinn really easily. The only thing you've got to do is to force her to waste her Ultimate. Wukong is a Fighter, he's able to reach an Ad carry and focus him till death, the only thing i'd reccomend you is to press your W(Decoy) Whenever you think she's going to attack you with her passive(target) on you.

For example: If Quinn charges you then jump back, before she does one AA to proc her passive press W to counter this mechanic, and after this jump over her with your E - AA - AA -Q.

VS

Rammus

Easy

Force him to taunt your decoy or trick him with your S. Protect your teammates and burst him after there's no AP/AD carry attaccking yours.

VS

Renekton

Medium

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZwhNFOn4ik

VS

Rengar

Medium

No. High damage, high poke ability, brush control. He destroy Wukong completly.(Medium now, cause nerfed multiple times.)

VS

Riven

Hard

No. Too strong, Wukong has no chance.

VS

Rumble

Hard

Good poke abilities, slow and a shield. He can counter you completly

VS

Ryze

Medium

Don't get caught by his snare or confuse him with your decoy, if he waste his snare against the clone, combo him till death!

VS

Sejuani

Medium

A permaslow cc machine, care about her ulti in teamfights.

VS

Shaco

Easy

Squishy, be sure to check if while he ganks you he has Blue/Red Buffs. If he use his ultimate, focus the one with the buffs and never, never let shaco attack you from behind, use your decoy to prevent this!

VS

Shen

Hard

Shield, sustain, giant piece of HP. He's strong, you need your jungler to kick him out off the lane!

VS

Shyvana

Medium

Don't get caught by her E and you may have few chances, wait that she waste her W do jump on her!

VS

Singed

Hard

No, no,no. He's the king. It's hard to handle a singed, got nothing more to say.

VS

Sion

Medium

Force him to waste his stun on your decoy and wait his shield to be wasted. Jump on him now.

VS

Sivir

Easy

Don't waste your Q upon her shield. Wait a bit before using Q and in this way she'll be yours.

VS

Skarner

Medium

He's a problem for you. A good slow ability and he's a good chaser. Kite him with your S or your decoy if you think he's gonna take you with his R.

VS

Sona

Easy

She's strong, has amazing skills. Just be sure to activate your Decoy to dodge her slow pokes or her ulti(so you can't be focused) She's sooo squishy.

VS

Soraka

Easy

Dont focus her if she uses her heal on herself, unless you have your Q to shred her armor after she heals. Be aware of her silence because if you jump on her carry and she silence you, you're fuck*d :<

VS

Swain

Medium

Dodge his snare and you'll be fine. You have to harrass him before he gets 6. Same as kassadin, try to invade their blue with your botlane+jungler and get their blue buff!

You may try the averice blade upgrade which inflicts Grievous wounds every autoattack. Executioner calling is fine against swain, also against mundo but... Mundo goes wherever he pleases.

VS

Syndra

Easy

Squishy, low hp. Dodge her skills and burst her in daface

VS

Talon

Medium

Use your decoy when you predict he's gonna jump on you and silence you. He's a bit squishy but his damage it's so good.

VS

Taric

Hard

He has a good CC against you and he can defend his allies very well. If he uses his W and has stun in cooldown, use your Q on him and burst him.

VS

Teemo

Medium

Poke abilities, wait your jungler and kill him in the early phase or it'll be so hard.

VS

Thresh

Easy

You'll be fine against Thresh, he has a lot of CC but even if he can protect his carry, just try to use your decoy properly whenever he's going to land his Q.
Another thing, his R can make you so slower then usual, due to that huge slow Crowd control. Wait that he waste his ulti or avoid to pass through its walls or you could be kited by the enemy team and killed, if they react so well.

VS

Tristana

Hard

She can kite you so well, high range autoattack and an usefull ulti to knock you away.

Wait the right moment to jump on her

VS

Trundle

Medium

He's a tough jungler, he will most gank you from the tribush if purple side, be aware he can gank you at 2 minutes in this way.

VS

Tryndamere

Easy

Squishy. After 6 you can fight him, using your decoy when he has his ragebar full to decrease his damages on you. When he uses his ulti count "1..2..3" and place an ignite.
At level 11 count till 4, level 16 count till 5 and place the ignite.

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

Use your clone to parry his gold card and jump on him, he's squishy. Keep your ulti because he could teleport(R)away if you waste it earlier while jumping on him!

VS

Twitch

Easy

Squishy. Go on

VS

Udyr

Medium

As a jungler you can kite him pretty well, as a laner it's hard. He got good sustain, shield, movespeed buff and a stun. Dont get caught by his tiger stance and you'll be fine

VS

Urgot

Medium

His ulti and his tankyness late game it's the problem. Priorityze other champions

VS

Varus

Easy

Dodge his ulti with your decoy and jump on him!

VS

Vayne

Easy

Be aware of her knockback, your decoy may grant you a kill if well used.

VS

Veigar

Easy

You completly destroy him in early game, dont be scared to jump in his face at level 2. Just do it wisely and avoid getting ganked

VS

Vi

Medium

When she jumps on you with Q , use your W to prevent the damage.

As a jungler, Vi is really tough for Wukong.

The only thing you can do is toget both tanky and fighter with your build, she's not squishy but with your W you can prevent her Q to gank you and also with a bit of good defensive items you'd be able to fight her too if you're Safe, if you've got vision and if no one's other than you and Vi is there. Don't do the mistake to feed Vi, she's not overpowered: Simply she's a champion which is good in early , mid and also Late.

VS

Viktor

Hard

His gravity field is a good counter to you, if well placed you'll be a free kill for his team. Use your combos properly

VS

Vladimir

Medium

Most oriented on Hard. His E gets you even if you're stealthed, and his pool can disengage the fight when you jump on him. Be aware of this guy, ask your jungler a bit of help

VS

Volibear

Medium

try to make him waste his bite on your decoy to decrease his damage output, make him waste his passive and right after jump on him whenever you can and you know he has no passive.

VS

Warwick

Medium

He has great sustain. Force him to push so he must waste his mana to last hit better, at this point you and your jungler will be able to fight him properly. (Use your decoy to prevent him to use his ulti on you)

VS

Xerath

Easy

Squishy in early, deny his farm and be very aggressive, if you can dodge his E with your decoy, he can't do anything to stop you.

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

He's strong against you, high damage, good sustain. Use your decoy after he charges you and does 2 autoattack, or check if he will do two autoattack on minions and then jump on you. Dodge his Q knock up and you'll be fine.

VS

Yorick

Hard

Awesome sustain, pokes and an amazing ulti. You can't fight him, maybe just in the early 4-5 levels. Whenever he gets a tanky equip, you'll be screwed :<

VS

Zac

Medium

Zac is a medium matchup for you. In lane, he's incredibly squishy early game and you can manage to play a bit aggressive and harrass him whenever it's possible. In late, he's something you hardly manage.

The only solution against Zac is to get Mercury as Boots and to get a Sword of the Ruined king. Zac is a pure HP slime, but you're gonna need a Botrk for this.
Use your E to engage him, forcing him to Q you , W and then E away if he's really low health.
With your Q, W and E you should be able to handle him early-mid.
Only if fed , only if well farmed Zac will be impossible in LATE game.

Be sure to deny the late game for Zac. :P

VS

Zed

Medium

Use your Decoy right before you think he's gonna press R on you.

Dont jump on him, wait him to waste his Q and E, then do that!

VS

Ziggs

Easy

Squishy early game, it'll be easy!

VS

Zilean

Easy

Squishy as hell, just be aware of his slow.

VS

Zyra

Easy

SOOO squishy but has a good snare skill. Dodge it and jump in their face, you'll destroy zyra! (Use your decoy after she's dead to decrease the chances she'll catch you with his passive and kill you for a 1 - 1 trade)

Laning Phase! Back to Top

TOP LANE PHASE:

All you need to know, is that Wukong has a Double-edge kit.
Wukong is a really great harrasser, a bully: His problem it's his E, the skill you use to engage the enemy.

This skill will attack your targetted character plus TWO nearby units/enemies.
Use it wisely, cause attacking two minions with this skill will makes your minion wave to push and this will cause TWO things:

1 : You'll be more "Gankable" from your enemy jungler.

2 : Having no control about your lane against a good TOP LANER will cause him to freeze your minion wave right before his turret and you'll be constantly in danger cause the enemy jungler may gank you oftenly. It's really a tough situation, because to reach the enemy minion you need to stay near the enemy tower and the your opponent may punish you ,forcing you after a while to leave the lane because low hp. NEVER PUSH WITH NO VISION.

SO, what can you do? Simply: Harrass your enemy just with your Q. Whenever he comes near a minion of you, you have to be sure he's going to last-hit that minion, so he can't counter-harrass you. It's all about practice, but i guess you'll be fine after few games of practice. In that situation you Autoattack him then right before your autoattack landed successfully press your Q and autoattack again, go back and start again last-hitting.
Use your E just when the enemy minions wave if almost finished and you won't risk that much about pushing the lane or when COMPLETLY sure your combo will make him dead.

A good thing to do is Freezing your lane, for this i suggest you a great video which will explain you few tips to dominate your top lane , punish your enemy top and force the lane to be freezed so you'll have an easy life and your jungler will be able to easily gank your lane, granting you a big advantage!

Example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_oXaGZQMYA <- Video

Remember, Wukong is a great pusher and he smash turrets! Push the lane with your E whenever you need to dive your enemy with the help of your Jungler / AP Carry. Be sure to have all your skill available and enough MANA before Dive into your enemy turret, or you'll be somehow... disappointed about the result! :P

DECOY:

That's your way to avoid ganks, use it to prevent the enemy to focus you with his single target skills or to confuse them about: "Where is he? DO i have to spend mana using a skill which may miss him or no? :S"

If you like Wukong, if you like his play style here's a trick, the best thing you may use during different matches.

MINDF*CK!
Yeah.

If you press your S while walking, you'll notice it will be the same animation that Wukong uses when he use Decoy(W)
Using this tip wisely may let you juke your enemy, escape from very bad situations and letting you escape from impossible, weird situations!

Practice this and you'll notice how effective is on your enemy team :) Dont use it THAT often or they will predict you, keep this as your secret card!

Examples:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtrpGMz3SGk <- Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0bswu7gDqY <-- Video

Learn this trick and surprise your enemies! ;) It'll be very usefull!

WUKONG'S COMBOS:

That's a reason i really like Wukong. He's versatile, his equip, his way to play into a team fight, his positioning, everything. He's pure fun. The things i like the most are his COMBOS.

Right, his play style he's versatile and i'll explain you while.

Your main combo is Autoattack, Q,, E Autoattack, autoattack R.
You can execute this combo in very different situations and in a different order adapting to your situation.

For example if you have to initate a team fight try to judge the situation: Do i have the survavibility to remain alive in the teamfight? Is my damage enough? Is their damage too much?

If you're sure you can survive from a situation, simply E on your target, Autoattack, Q and R to throw him in the air, use your movespeed to repeat the same with his team members around him and let your team engage the fight, following you to victory.

If you're sure they may be able to stop you right after you press E to engage on that target, use E, and right after DECOY(your W). Kite around, avoid their skills and right before your clone reveal himself, Q your focused target and press R.

Keep in mind:

Your W is your life. It's all about this skill your R will be placed well or not.

So choose: Will i use this Decoy(W) to engage the enemy team or to escape? If you use your W to engage, you won't have it to disengage and run away from the teamfight in bad situations. Use it wisely, judge the situation and surprise your enemy with your decoy:

NEVER NEVER

Use your Decoy if the enemy team has oracle. Be sure they wont have any Vision Ward or Oracle or you'll be destroyed and focused right in a second, this may throw the game in late game. As i said: use it wisely.

MID LANE :

I personally prefer Wukong as a MID counterpick against squishy AP Carries.
Your approach against them will be a bit different, adapt your playstyle :
If they have single target skills, you have to engage them this way:

E, Decoy (W) right after, when they waste their single target skill(and this will decrease their damage output in the trade) autoattack, Q, Autoattack : This will cause two situations:

1: They flash cause they won't get killed

2: They have no escape chance so you press R and while they are knocked in the air , use IGNITE! Duo to your mastery Summoner's wrath you'll grant a bonus AD which will synergizes well with your AD scale on your ultimate, making you able to get a kill and go back farming, pushing, a lot of usefull things!

If you're against an AOE caster, you have to engage approximatevely in this way:

Your decoy is always the solution, if you have no wards you might risk to use the combo i've been talking about one line right here, in case you are sure no one's gonna stomp you, use your Decoy right before you predict his using a skill or use it to "defend you" from a skillshot, then jump on him: E, Autoattack, Q, Autoattack R.
Same thing, they will flash or stay: If they stay be sure to use your R when you'll be sure it will be a kill!

DONT WASTE YOUR ULTIMATE. It's so usefull for early teamfights or ganks, so use it in the best way you can!

Remember, Wards save your life. Get atleast 1 every recall and place it in the spot you think the enemies will walk, this will let you go back and avoid a certain death or get kicked off from the lane cause Low HP.

TEAMFIGHTS/INITIATE:

This is your personal goal. You need to initiate in the most of the times. In case you don't have to(You have better initiators in your team) well, try to focus their most dangerous squishy enemy champions. AP Carry and AD CARRY are your objectives. In case you can't reach them, try to stay near your carry while fighting and use your skills to protect your carry somehow, that's your job.

SO basically: Like i said before you need to confuse your enemy with your decoy if you want to engage them, but in this way you'll have no escape while in the fight(Except Flash, though).

Choose between initiate with a fight using decoy or to keep it to escape from difficult situations, change your focus and such.  Try to synergizes : Your passive is the best into a teamfight, the more enemy you have around the more you get about Magic resist and Armor.

Initiate only when you're sure your team will follow you or you'll be an easy kill.
If you're built as an assassin, you will be probably able to kill one of them if your team protects you and follow you, in another situation you will be destroyed, since you may be a bit of glass cannon. So what i suggested is :
Depending on your items build, adapt your playstyle and role as an initiator.

Here few example you may find interesting as i did, i catch this chance to thank the youtuber which shared this great videos with us. :) That's how you shall aim to play Wukong!

Pros-Cons Back to Top

PROS

Very fun to play
So strong in teamfights
Has differents combo with a lot of champions[AoE] (Galio, Sona, Lulu, Malphite, Amumu, Graves etc!)
Amazing pokes
IF well played, uncatchable in lane/ganks
He's a strong pick against the most AP champions mid

CONS

Easily Counterpicked(Never pick him as first as long you won't go mid)
His harrass skills may push the lane, watch out
Against experienced players, your Jukes with S may be ignored.
Not the best champion in Late Game(Doesn't mean his late is horrible, it's just not THE BEST at it)
Lack of CC without his Ulti(Cyclone)
A silence may ..destroy your "strategy" when engaging a teamfight. Watch out carefully!

31/12/12:

I'm sorry, but can't handle. I needed to share with the people which read my guide in the previous days.
Few lolking's users actually "bashed" this guide without a reason or simply: Because they wanted their guide to shine, instead of mine. It's fine, i didn't write a guide to keep the first place for myself. All i did is writing something about a Champion i've been playing for over 450+ Games. Maybe something more, but whatever.
The point is, i wrote this guide before the Contest was announced. I did this because i loved this Champion and i wanted to share my point of views about him. All i see, with the contest, is people who downvotes with their friends just becauase they want the first place. You know what? Take it.
I worked over and over on this guide, duo to my huge experience with this champion :) and i dont care about the first, second or last place.
All i care is people telling me their REAL opinions, people which test my guide, people which gives feedbacks to improve themselves and myself.

I really hope lolking will do something about this, cause in my personal opinion, that is nothing acceptable anymore.

That's the last update this guide will see, Untill Something will be done against those toxic users.

Thanks everyone.
Wish you a Happy New Year!

Cheers,

Draker88.

Conclusion Back to Top

Wukong is a really fun champion. He's one of my favourite and i think he's a great pick, especially against AP carries.

For my personal experience, a great Wukong needs a great team.
A very strong-lame-strategy it's to build an easy AOE team. Usually, Amumu and Wukong works perfectly together and also does Sona. Try out different team composition and gives him a chance.
I've been playing him from his release date and i think i had an amazing idea ;) about falling in love with DAT MUUNKEY.

That's my first guide, i kinda wanted to help this community to grow, exploring characters which are not played that often but they are so funny and gives you thousand of personal rewards :)

I UNFORTUNATELY admit that my win/loss ratio in s2 was kinda Apocalyptic with Wukong, in the bad side of it. Lol.
The point is that sometimes.. when going to solo queue, you have to choose between "Having fun with a character you love and picking him whatever is the situation" or "I have to pick what the team needs " ;) And that is what i STILL didnt know in the early season 2. :D I didn't know his counterpicks, didn't discovered every single items order and such.

SO play as much as you can, before going in ranked ;) and try to counter pick the enemies, that's the way to win ! Respect your allies and try to communicate with them in a respectfull way..
Mistakes happens, we're human ;) but if you'll like Wukong and discover how funny and strong he is if well picked you're gonna fall in love as i did long time ago!
I will try to add detailed matchup explaination and strategies in the next days, so keep checking!

I'd appreciate comments, as a first guide i'd like to improve my way to explain thing. If you need anything to be added LET ME KNOW.

I think i'm gonna upload more examples in the next days and a detailed explaination about the Masteries and other Masteries setups you can play with Wukong.

Any suggestion? Write it here below! Post me your screenshots about your results, i'll be happy to see them!
