I prioritize Lucent Singularity for the creep wave clearing and AoE damage.
I max Light Binding as second spell.
Against certain match ups or team compositions I take more than one point or even max Prismatic Barrier right as second skill.

Usually I have like 3 points in Prismatic Barrier and after that I proceed to max Light Binding.

It looks something like Q-E-E-W-E-R-E-W-E-W-R-W-Q-W-Q-R-Q-Q

Starting Items

Core Items

Situational Items

Usually starting with 1004_32.png1004_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png or only one 1004_32.png, a ward and some healthpots and/or manapots.
You can always start 1004_32.png1004_32.png because it builds into 3028_32.png or 3070_32.png+3165_32.png.
After the recent 1056_32.png cost change, you consider starting 1056_32.png2003_32.png2003_32.png.

For boots, get either 3020_32.png or 3111_32.png if you're facing  38_icon_64.png9_icon_64.png45_icon_64.png.

Get either 3028_32.png or 3070_32.png on your first trip to the shop.
If you got 3028_32.png, upgrade it to 3174_32.png as soon as possible.

Your next big item is 3089_32.png.
Usually after  3089_32.png you want to get some magic penetrationg, therefore get  3135_32.png if enemy has characters with enough health and magic resist. If they don't, you should have taken 3136_32.png before buying 3089_32.png, or after getting 1058_32.png.

Later upgrade into 3151_32.png.

If facing AD-based opponent, you should get 3070_32.png instead of 3028_32.png.
Upgrade your boots to 3258_32.png if you're planning to gank lanes using 12.png.


If you bought your core items and the game is still going choose from the following:

3157_32.png - One of best actives in the game, use it when getting focused.
3128_32.png - Helps bursting down a single champion. Provdides cooldown reduction and a lot of ability power. You're usually not in range for active though.
3100_32.png - Additional damage, helps pushing towers. Use only if you can get into autoattack range.
3023_32.png - Great escape/initiation tool. Slow down enemies chasing you or follow up with it after successful Light Binding.
3041_32.png - If you think you can get kills or assists, goes well along with 12.png.

Disadvantages:

If caught in charm, you'll either die or forced to go back.

High chance of dying if your skills are on cooldown and 103_icon_64.png has her Spirit Rush.


Tips:

Harass her early game using autoattack and Lucent Singularity + Illumination

Advantages:
Free harass, because 84_icon_64.png is melee range.

84_icon_64.png is not much of a threat before she gets Shadow Dance.


Disadvantages:

Can destroy you at level 6, if your Light Binding is on cooldown.


Tips:

Get 2043_32.png it's the only way to have kill potential against her.

Don't ever go close to her.

Both are high range casters. Lane should be farmfest, but try to harass her regardless.

Advantages:

Your range is higher.

You can exchange damage using your Prismatic Barrier.


Disadvantages:

Prioritize Prismatic Barrier as second spell.

Advantages:

Disadvantages:

Has sustain against your harass.
Use autoattacks extensively.

Ward a lot. It is quite simple to get caught when enemy jungler comes, because of knock up and silence from 31_64.png.

Very hard matchup, you can't burst her down, so just poke and farm. Use 21.png.

#1 - Little clip I made, mainly to keep this section filled with stuff, longer game play videos incoming.




#2 - A little introduction to Lux laning phase, in this particular video, I play against 105_icon_64.png. I abuse the fact that he is melee and has no way of fighting back before he gets some levels. He lost all 3 potions before he even reached level 4. In this clip I did a fatal mistake by cancelling my autoattack animation. That could have costed me a kill, but luckily for me 105_icon_64.png went right back to me.

I would like to say that Lux is really fun champion and very satisfying as well.
You do great damage while having amazing utility.
If you like the feeling of removing someone from the game from a distance where your opponent can't even fight you back, this champion is for you,
If you like skill shots, this champions is for you, all four of Lux abilities are skill shots.
If you like to deal heavy damage, while being able to support your team, this champion is for you.
