Patch 7.8 Rundown: Udyr Buffs!

It's the last patch before Midseason and for Patch 7.8 several champions were given Quality of Life buffs, especially for those with bad connections. Aside from that, the biggest highlight of the patch are the changes to Udyr, which help him do more damage and heal back up in shorter windows of time, essential for a champion with problems gap closing.

Buffs to Hellbent (Passive) and Blood Thirst (W)

What's New:

Blood Well (Passive)

  • Hellbent now refreshes when fighting monsters.
  • Attack Speed increased from 20/30/40/50% to 30/40/50/60%.

Blood Thirst (W)

  • Heal increased from 5% of Aatrox’s missing health to 6.5% of Aatrox’s missing health.



Cursed Touch (Passive) now does true damage. Passive numbers down to make up for the change

What's New:

Cursed Touch (Passive)

  • Changed from 15% of magic damage dealt, calculated after that damage was reduced by magic resist to 10% of magic damage dealt, calculated before that damage was reduced by magic resist.

Despair (W)

  • Percent Health Damage changed from 1/1.5/2/2.5/3% target’s maximum health per second to 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2% target’s maximum health per second.


Brushmaker (W) nerfed vs Epic Monsters

What's New:

Brushmaker (W)

  • Dropping brush directly on top of an Epic Monster no longer hides it from enemy vision. (You can still deny enemy vision of an entire area by creating walls of brush, thereby denying vision of the monster.).



Casting Lay Waste (Q) is now more fluid

What's New:

Lay Waste (Q)

  • Lay Waste can now be buffered. Casts input as Lay Waste explodes will now automatically fire once Lay Waste comes off cooldown, unless Karthus cancels the command.


Buffs to Ice Shard (Q) and Iceborn (Passive)

What's New:

Iceborn (Passive):

  • Cooldown decreased from 18 seconds at all ranks to 18/15/12/9 seconds at levels 1/6/11/16.

Ice Shard (Q):

  • AP Ratio increased from 65% AP to 70% AP.



Base Armor nerfed, Voidling health down.

What's New:

Base Stats:

  • Armor down from 20 to 18.

Void Swarm (W):

  • Voidling Health decreased from 3 to 2
  • Voidling Gold Reward decreased from 10 to 5 gold.


Nerfs to Mana Regen and Riptide (E)

What's New:

Base Stats:

  • Mana Regen Growth Stat decreased from 0.7 to 0.5.

Riptide (E):

  • Mana Cost increased from 40/50/60/70/80 mana to 50/60/70/80/90 mana.



Buffs to Overload (Q)

What's New:

Overload (Q)

  • Cooldown reset now occurs when Rune Prison or Spell Flux are cast, rather than when they hit their targets.


Changes to Twilight Assault (Q), buffs to Shadow Dash (E), nerf to Stand United (R)

What's New:

Twilight Assault (Q)

  • Empowered attack bonus damage changed from 30/50/70/90/110 against non-champions (at ranks 1-5) to 15/20/25/30/35/40 against any enemy (at levels 1/4/7/10/13/16).

Shadow Dash (E)

  • Cost reduced from 180 to 150 energy.
  • Width increased from 100 to 120 units.

Stand United (R)

  • Cooldown increased from 180/150/120 to 200/180/160.
  • Shield strength changed from 250/550/850 to 175/350/525, scaling up to 280/560/840 based on ally’s current health (shield maxes out at 40% health).



Buffs to Tiger Stance (Q) and Turtle Stance (w)

What's New:

Tiger Stance (Q)

  • Removed: Basic attacks no longer deal an additional 15% of Udyr’s total attack damage as bonus damage while in Tiger Stance.
  • New: Udyr’s first and every third basic attack after that while in Tiger Stance are Tiger Strikes, applying the stance’s damage over time effect.
  • Tiger Strike Damage decreased from 30/80/130/180/230 over 2 seconds to 30/60/90/120/150 over 2 seconds.
  • Successive Tiger Strikes against the same target will instantly deal all remaining damage of the previous instance in addition to applying a new one.

Turtle Stance (Q)

  • Removed: Udyr no longer gains lifesteal while in Turtle Stance
  • Udyr’s first and every third basic attack while in Turtle Stance heal him for 2.5% of his maximum health, increasing to up to 5% based on Udyr’s missing health





Stormraider's Surge

Because you should know when you activate your keystone mastery.
  • Now has a louder visual effect when it activates.




  • Mini krugs now leash back to their nook, not to the place they fell when their parent died

Rift Scuttler

  • Rift Scuttler now submerges a bit more slowly, allowing hit VFX for things that killed her to play
